Urania HP: 100 Action: Looking at text Interaction Roll: Damage/Healing/Buff Done: n/a
“Murikabushi is right. Sailor Asmodeus probably can’t read it. It’s like us senshi who were born off-world all those years ago. We know our own language, but we have to learn your English.”
She ran her hand over the symbols.
“I wonder if they are letters or words.”
Urania walked up to the door.
“I’ll help. I can move quick if need be with one of my magics. Plus, I can summon a creature that can do do at guarding the door if we need it.”
Antisana, Squire of Pluto HP: 75 Action: setting all the switches to the same symbol Interaction Roll: Damage/Healing/Buff Done: N/A
Her confidence did not inspire the same in him. 'Frozen fingertips' was not a daunting consequence as far as he was concerned. Definitely not as daunting as all the 'dangerous s**t' the Senshi of this world had said they'd face, though what they were currently dealing with seemed relatively innocuous. He huffed out a soft, noncommittal grunt in response.
Nothing stood out to him more than anything else- honestly, he was hesitant to believe anything was even in working order, so getting some kind of power to this panel was probably something they should figure out.
Antisana glanced back hesitantly at Eleonora, then over to the red-headed Senshi standing nearby. It wasn't someone he knew, but if her fingers dusting along the panel were any indication, she seemed like she wanted to do something. "I am unconvinced that it is even on," he admitted to her. "And if we do nothing, it never will be." He glanced back, peering for where everyone was in the room- some near the door, some near the pipework. Maybe there was more information to be gleaned elsewhere, but as for what was in front of him, maybe it wasn't worth nothing to try the simplest solution first?
"We can at least test if it does anything. If not, no harm. If it does, then we have a starting point." He waited until the two nearest him were aware that he was moving, then flicked the nearest switch into the opposite position. After a short, studious pause, he set all of the two-position switches to the same symbol. "Up" or "down," "on" or "off," he didn't know.

Sailor Tempesti turned toward the purple-haired knight, nodding as he spoke. “True, hopefully there’s power outside of that Engine.” It made sense that there would be limitations to what power, if any, remained in this area. The fact that the pipes were less than talkative was a clear sign of that. His flip switching seemed like an indication of someone who thought similarly to her, at least in terms of approaching unfamiliar technology.

Super Aruna of Landslides HP: 75 Action: investigating Interaction Roll: investigating the door Damage/Healing/Buff Done: (if applicable!0)
Aruna walked quietly along with the rest of the group, content to observe for now. Her fingers ran over the metal of the pipes as they walked, not paying overly much attention to them. When they came to a stop, she slowly turned in a circle to try and take in as much of the area as she could. There was something fascinating about all of this to her, something that made her definitely want to take Murikabushi up on his offer to visit Aruna with him once all of this was resolved.
As Tempesti noticed the keypad and Murikabushi found the paper, Aruna kept quiet, simply observing for a bit longer. Finally speaking up, she replied to Murikabushi's inquiry. "My power is landslides. I can destabilize an area and send magical rocks down on an area." She looked back up at Muri and gestured at the slip of paper in his hands. "May I?" She gently took the paper and examined it next to the buttons, looking for any variation to make sure they all matched. God forbid there was a hidden button somewhere.
Handing the paper back to Muri, she chewed her lip and moved closer to the door, taking a look at it before pressing her ear against it to see if she could hear anything beyond it.

"Oh! You found sumthin? Brilliant!" Taking a moment to look over what they were showing, she still bounced slightly as she was glad someone had noticed something. She was still so excited about being in space. Listening to Muri and Following along with Tianyi, Chillingham was still a bit confused by the lettering as she walked over to where the other person in their party was.
"Do you think this might help Tempesti? That's how I say it right?" Wondering if the note and things Muri showed might open the door. She did speak a bit hesitantly as she worried if she had butchered the magical girl's name with her accent.

Portia had no reason to use her magic here, at least no reason that anyone else might find productive, so she stayed silent until the starry-eyed senshi (Urania) spoke up. So they were the same as she was, which didn't necessarily make her like the girl anymore than anyone else in the room but at least someone knew how this could be exponentially more frustrating.
She watched as some of the others worked, taking in the symbols but still not quite getting close enough to anyone in particular. It was irritating, everything was, but she bit her tongue for now.
Looking over things and seeing symbols were in more than one place, she hovered slightly near the senshi and... whatever the purple-haired male one was.

Character Name and journal link:Super Sailor Eleonora, Senshi of Heat HP: 75/75 Action: Her flaw of jumping to conclusions has superseded her task of investigating and is moving to help her sister move debris. Interaction Roll:4
To say she was irritated would be an understatement.
The implication that she was somehow less experienced than the others present rubbed her the wrong way. Maybe they should have discussed how their magic worked before people started pressing buttons or flipping switches.
Fortunately, her sister spoke up for her so she didn’t quip a comment. Eleonora narrowed her eyes, shifting her gaze from her sister to the dark-haired eternal, then back again who dismissed the comment with little more than a wave of a hand, a silent but firm invitation for Eleonora to join her.
Still, she hesitated. Glancing at Antisana, then to the starry-eyed Eternal, Urania, beside him before settling on the witch-looking senshi, Portia, who decided to join them at the control panel.
Something about the woman’s proximity put her on edge, but Antisana seemed absorbed in his task and unfazed. Four people is too many for this anyway.
“I don't think we need all of us here,” she commented, her voice just loud enough for those nearest to hear.
Reaching out, she gave a slight tug on the back of Antisana’s vest. “I’m going to go help my sister.” Though she didn’t explicitly ask him to come, the unspoken request lingered in her expression to ‘join me when you’re done’.
As she moved toward the debris pile, Eleonora exhaled softly, “I’m sorry.”
“Don’t be,” her sister replied, voice calm but firm. “I’d rather neither of us be on the front line if it can be helped. I don’t know what kind of robots are down here, but going hands-on seems like a bad idea.”
The warning was clear. No using basic magic, and keep your distance.
Eleonora pressed her lips together, resisting the urge to argue. She didn’t like standing back. But she trusted her sister’s judgment, and for now, that would have to be enough.

Letting the small group know she was going elsewhere.
Hati exhaled with relief. The trap that had clearly been laid seemed to be disarmed through sheer time sagging at the pipes. Those clean cuts... the wire... He shivered to think of what could've happened if it was activated. Hot steam was a peril. He decided to keep a close eye on it, just in case. It could, after all, still activate. Especially if something jostled it.
He shuffled forwards, nodding at everyone who'd arrived.
At Urania's question, he paused, brow furrowing. Sure, he knew enough about machines and engines to do the oil change on his car, but... He didn't have any specific answers about the Eternal Engine itself.
"It just... runs the planet," he said, trying to sound confident instead of baffled. It was no more than what Asmodeus had said herself, of course, but still.
"My magic makes people fearful and places them in a sort of silencing bubble," he explained to the group and mostly to Murikabushi with a nod. "It's good for trapping enemies at a choke point, like, say, a door."
Saying this, he moved forward towards the front of the group. "If there are creatures on the other side of this thing, they're gonna be automatons, so I'm not sure how much fear will actually slow them down, but I can always beat the s**t out of them, too. Kickboxing helps."

Sailor Tianyi HP: 50/50 Action: Retreating and contemplating things; no roll!
Going back towards the panel definitely seemed like a very smart idea. Tianyi wasn't sure what was waiting on the other side of that door, but Asmodeus had mentioned robots, and those would probably be dangerous, and also probably wouldn't listen very much to his magic, if it even worked--so often it just didn't. So better for him to be as out of the way as possible.
And--even then, he had to think very hard about whether he could even fight them at all. The poor things were just following their programming--but there were so many people here, and if Tianyi stood by, what if someone got hurt? That would make him even worse than useless.
Just like he'd been before. He hadn't known what was really going on, but he'd let himself be used as a pretty figurehead, and he'd definitely helped keep people pacified for longer, which meant they had suffered for longer, and that was why he'd deserved--
He shook his head, and shrank back near the console, trying to stay out of everyone's way as best he could. That was what he needed to do for now. He could figure out if he wanted to actually fight things when there were actually things to fight. Or maybe he would just cry. That seemed to be what he was actually good at. Crying and being rescued and causing problems for people until they lost their patience with him.
So he would just....stay back in the corner. Stay out of the way of people who were actually useful. That sounded like a good idea.
Character Name and journal linkRowan Trumoia/Sailor Tempesti HP: 50 Action: Button pushing and hoping nothing explodes Interaction Roll: N/A Damage/Healing/Buff Done: N/A
It took Sailor Tempesti a second to recognize that the knight was talking to her, she still wasn’t entirely used to having a second name, she nodded affirmatively. “That’s the right pronunciation, I’m just getting used to people calling me that.” She smiled a bit sheepishly at the admission. The pretty, towering deep space senshi caught her a bit off guard when she approached but she could hardly be bothered by someone else’s curiosity, particularly when her own had been burning since they’d arrived.
Tempesti squinted a bit at the paper, eyes flicking back and forth between it and the control panel’s buttons. Slightly hesitantly (and hoping sincerely that she wasn’t about to blow anybody up) she murmured, “I think this is the right order.” With a few quick gestures she input the combination and prayed that her unholy button lust didn't hurt anyone.

As Alcor and Eleonora moved debris, there was a quiet click sound, and the wire running away from them went slack, and then a clunk, like the valve at the top of the seemingly "broken" pipe shutting. It seemed the debris may have been placed very deliberately to hold down a pressure plate, which was now disarmed and revealed.
This was a very good thing, as when Antisana started flipping switches, there was, suddenly, the sound of steam rushing through the pipes around them and a crunch of gears within the console itself--clearly, Antisana had found the on position.
But, if Hati paid close attention, it seemed that while the trap was temporarily disarmed, it could absolutely be rearmed, and the pipe itself could certainly be re-positioned...perhaps to point at the door...
Quote:
If Hati, Alcor, and Eleonora work together to adjust and reactivate it, the pipe trap may be used as a weapon to attack enemies! This does not need to be done in the first round!
It can be deployed once, and will do 10+2d10 damage in a direct line in front of it!
When Tempesti typed in the code, there was a brief moment of silence.
Then, with a great groan, a crunch of gears, and a hissing exhale of steam, the door swung open, revealing a long hallway stretching out behind it.
On the other side of the door were six of the smaller spider creatures and four of the vaguely humanoid figures. They were spread apart through the large open area; three groups of one sphere and two spiders each, at approximately ten foot intervals down the hallway, and a single sphere at the far end of the hall, next to a pair of massive brass doors
On each of the doors was engraved a sigil, massive and demanding, and the doors were ornately decorated around the edges.
The entrance to the Eternal Engine, perhaps?
But there was quite the threat between them and the doors.

The next prompt will be posted at 5PM EST on the 27th!
Urania watched as Hati entered the code. There was a hiss of steam. The door creaked open.
And there they were — the automatons.
“Oh. Wow. These must be the automations Asmodeus was talking about. It’s sad we have to take them out. I’d love to study them.”
She nodded to Muri before walking through the door and calling the name of her attack. A celestial map appeared and she selected a constellation on it with her compass. A starry scorpion appeared and launched itself at the nearest automaton.
Sailor Tempesti felt her eyes bulge slightly at the sight of the automata as a wave of anxious awe crashed against her. On one hand these things were amazing, on the other they looked less than welcoming to their unannounced guests. She was definitely in agreement with Sailor Urania, it seemed like a sad waste to destroy them. “They’ve been here who knows how long and we have to destroy them,” the words slipped out quietly. Tempesti knew that they couldn’t exactly stand around and let the machines do…whatever it was they did to intruders, but that didn’t make it any easier to suppress the quietly mournful feeling that settled over her.
Maybe someone could figure out a way to repair them after Asmodeus got the Engine running. Besides, if these were what they used as guards she had to imagine that there were probably even more sophisticated automata somewhere on this planet.
In the present moment however, she was getting lightyears ahead of herself. There was more than a little bit on their proverbial plate and in these close quarters she wasn’t in the best position to call up one of her little storms. Until she could get a clear (or clearish, given her magic’s tendency to zap her too), she would have to resort to something a bit more mundane.
Grabbing a reasonably sized piece of debris, she threw it at the automaton Urania struck with her ability.
Spiders. Robot spiders. Of course. Why were his instincts so good? Why did he know this would happen? He scowled furiously at them, trying to think quickly.
The steam trap... The sound of it hissing caught his attention briefly and he glanced at it. If someone moved the pipe and twisted the valve... Glancing around, he saw the two who had triggered it. Senshis of Heat and Cold, he thought.
Which was which? s**t.
"Eleonora," he called, hoping he was right. "Do you think you can handle readying the trap for the spiders?" Hopefully the Senshi of Heat could handle a little steam.
Not waiting for an answer, he called on his magic. "Moor Hunt!"
He would only hit the first group of them, two spiders and a sphere, right in front, but with any luck, the automatons behind them all would move forward rather slowly and hit the choke point, rather than forcing the people in the room to go through the choke point themselves.

A deafening silence settles over every enemy within a fifteen foot radius. Shortly after the silence falls, two deep barks echo through the area, and suddenly every enemy within the radius feels like they are being watched by a large, dangerous creature. The silence can be disorienting; no matter how loud anything is, while the magic is in effect they cannot hear anything but the barks—and maybe the sound of something heavy breathing just behind them. Or worse, breathing on the back of their neck. Paranoia, anxiety and intense fear for the invisible threat are prominent for the duration of the magic, and may persist for longer if the player desires. This attack affects all enemies within fifteen feet and lasts for thirty seconds; it can be used twice per battle.
