Strangefellows What's the status of social services in this timeline/setting? IE, how would a 'bad home life' (neglectful parent, etc) be handled? Is the foster care system still a thing? How good is it compared to our world? How's adoption type situations look? I ask due to a character idea of 'happily adopted from a bad home life' with an addendum of a twin sister that she lost contact with...somehow. The how is the question. ★Foster Care is still a thing, but the system itself is entirely different than the stories that come out of present day, real world timelines. Foster parents are people who want to be, not just people who are looking for paychecks. They are provided with additional subsidies and social workers to ease transitions, providing whatever help they can in order to not haphazardly split up siblings being removed from the same household -- at least in the United States.
Ideally, 'bad home life' would be caught early enough to prevent a child from suffering through it for too long. In some cases, however, a child might become emancipated at the age of 16 -- which, depending on the age of the character in question, might mean that one twin went that route while the other was adopted OR another suggestion we could possibly make would be that each parent might have taken a twin, although if this took place in the States it's more likely than not that a Judge would have ruled for the parents' to make sure the children got visitation time with one another.★

Wylde Roses Hi, I have a quick question regarding powered names for senshi! If a given celestial body has more than one name, (for example: how stars have a scientific name like [greek letter] [constellation name]) and often a historical/more commonly known name, is there one you prefer we use? Also, if a given body has more than one common name, or more than one Romanization, which should we use? (For example: Lambda Draconis is traditionally known as Giausar (also written as Gianfar, Giansar and Giauzar) and Juza) Or is that more a matter of personal preference? ★ More often than not player preference seems to lean more towards the historical/commonly known name when it comes to stars but in general, this is largely a matter of personal preference! We only ask that players try to use a more commonly known variant of the name AND provide us with a link to where the alternate name was sourced from so we have a reference point.
That said, if one player were to use Lambda Draconis another player would not be able to use Giausar (or any of the other variants), because no matter what the name they are still the same celestial body! ★

Sami-Fire Stopping by with a question re: quests! If we know we want to power a civ, should we include a powered section in their quest? Alternately (and this reflects more of what I'm seeing), do we just do a civ quest and then wait till we win a powered art slot to do a powered section/quest? This is probably somewhere but I forgot, sorry. WELP ONE MORE QUESTION- what are the policies around NPC family members/similar others of player characters? Can they still hop in and out of scenes as long as they don't get the focus? (I don't know how to narrow this down, so more information is better, sorry) ★If you are questing for a new, non-import character that you have not obstained a slot for you can submit a civilian quest for them and then make a powered quest for their upgrade. Currently we are only approving powered applications for players who have obtained a slot or players who are importing characters!
Since civilian characters are free to play in the event you think an NPC might get more than just passing 'screen time' we would recommend submitting an application for them! Otherwise characters who are mentioned idly or in passing (family members such as parents, younger siblings, etc) are fine!★

LittleLilyKitty For civilian characters, is there an age cap? Like, how old or young characters can players play here? ★The minimum age for civilian characters that would require an application for play is 16; the youngest age that a senshi can awaken. Characters 15 and under would be considered NPCs -- generally younger siblings, children, neighborhood kids, etc that might be referenced as part of a role play, but shouldn't be the focus of it! There is no maximum age on civilians!★

White Trickster Rabbit I have a curious question about prosthetics in Mayet. How easily obtainable are they and how advanced are they? Is it like what we have in real life? Is it anything like automail in FMA? More advanced? Just curious. Thanks so much! ★Prosthetics are incredibly easy to obtain with medical and rehabilitation institutes working hand in hand with biomedical engineers on more advanced designs.
Technology levels are on par with real life with 3-D printing making it easier to keep things light-weight, adjustable and adaptable. Bionics and nerve detectors can be used in some cases to allow prosthetics to move more freely. Things like consciously controlled limbs are being discussed amongst scientific communities, but we're not there yet!
That said, just like the real world, some people have turned their prosthetics into works of art and unique designs are definitely not uncommon amongst adults.★

Sami-Fire Whoops- have another. I have a character in the AU who had an approved Cosmos Knight form but never officially powered as of yet; can I potentially import him as a Cosmos Knight anyway, or does he stay a civ? I'm asking because I feel like his profile will largely be a copy/paste job and I'm also not sure if that qualifies as importing. Addendum: ...what if I were to officially unlock his powered side (if not the art) very soon? ★If you could PM the specifics to Brilliant Moonbeams we would be happy to review things and advise accordingly!★

Torvil Sphere related question, specifically on limitiations: I noticed in the raffle that there was a senshi of submarines (a fairly modern invention). Is there an era/time limitatuon on spheres or if one wanted to go for like, cannon or artillery would those be viable? Secondary Question: Gun laws What level of 2nd Amemendment control does Mayet and the current U.S.A. have? Concealed carry still a thing? Wait limits, screening, etc. Asking for a muse lol ★Submarines aren't quite as 'modern' as one might think! Designs have been around since the 16th century and the first submersible was built in the 17th century!
To answer the first part of your question: as Earth technology and inventions =/= those of the universe at large, things are viable as spheres if they have been around prior to 1899. That said, we still reserve the right to decline a sphere if we deem it too overpowered for play and some things might depend entirely on how the concept is proposed!
As for your second question -- we apologize for the delay in getting back to you with a response on this.
A license is required for the possession of all firearms and ammunition. Individuals applying for a license must be 21 years of age or older and undergo a criminal background check and psych evaluation before they are permitted to sign up for a training course. The training course must be completed and an individual must obtain a certificate confirming they have completed the course and an insurance policy. Similar to obtaining a license for a car, individuals must keep these licenses renewed throughout their lifetime, which may include additional certifications and evaluations.
Additional requirements are in place for antique firearms and military-style weapons and possession of certain types of ammunition as well as large capacity ammo feeding devices are absolutely prohibited. When not in use firearms must be secured in a safe with the ammunition stored in a separate location.
For the sake of our RP environment, it would be our preference to limit the usage of firearms ICly, however! Outside of visiting a range or hunting trips it may not come up ICly. Military weaponry is typically kept on base and Law Enforcement has been trained thoroughly in non-violent methods for their safety and the safety of others.
If you have specific follow-up questions in regards to your character specifically we would recommend PMing the mule!
[ Edited to add on the following in regards to concealed carry:
Concealed carry is still permitted within the States, but it is severely restricted and prohibited in most public places and the majority of major cities do not allow people to carry any sort of firearm.
In the city of Mayet concealed weapon licenses are limited to things such as stun guns, nonlethal electric weapons and other devices designed solely for defensive purposes -- generally speaking, things that do not fire darts or projectiles. People who have lived in Mayet their entire lives will confirm that there hasn't been enough crime in the city for the general public to think that it would be necessary. ★

nyamomask If we apply to bring in a guardian cat as one of our import slots, but they don’t get in, are we able to use that import slot to bring in a different character even after the cutoff for imports, or does the cat still count as an import if you’re bringing them in from the AU even if their method of acquisition is through something like a custom slot of sorts? ★Due to their unique nature, Guardian Cats do not count against a player's import slots, nor do they count towards the character cap! The only factions that count towards imports are Sailor Soldiers, Dark Kingdom Soldiers and Knights!
Characters aquired through standard custom slots do not count as imports either, but if you have characters that you're interested in acquiring through custom slots at some point you may put their names in the Name Reservations thread.
In the end, a player may import a total of 4 characters, not including Guardian Cats, and they may reserve up to 4 additional names if they have AU characters they are interested in obtaining via custom at some point in time.★

White Trickster Rabbit I keep forgetting to ask!! What is the legal age to drink in Mayet? I've been assuming 21 as it is in the states but I didn't know if you guys were planning on younger like other places in the world or not. ★The legal drinking age in Mayet is indeed 21! That is also the age that one can make purchases at a dispensary without providing a medical use card (required for those aged 18-20). ★

catmagick For the Primary Color and Secondary Color do they have to be the exact colors on the art for a premade? From what I can tell from a Google hex code search Loneliness's colors are Very Dark Grayish Blue and Dark Grayish Blue and if possible I'd like to use Dark Grayish Indigo and Grayish Lavender instead. ★The Primary Color and Secondary Color for premade senshi are predetermined and cannot be changed between stages! These colors will be pulled directly from the base stage art when it comes time for them to grow as cell shading makes it easy for our artists to do so.
That said, when it comes to adding on the third color that will 100% be up to the player!
[For reference, here are the hex codes according to Photoshop: Primary: 484A6A Secondary: 8284AB]★

Tinnunculus How much creative freedom do we have when inventing places around Mayet beyond smallish/individually owned businesses? Say, for example, that I wanted to come up with a bunch of museums, including a large science and technology center (which I do) - is that something that would be fine, or is that on "let the staff handle this" level? (Also as a nice to have, it would be awesome to see some descriptions of some of the various districts of Mayet at some point!) ★The short answer is that there is most definitely an array of museums throughout Mayet and I [Skye] very much agree that there should be a science and technology center along with a zoo, aquarium, history museum and so on. What you see in Welcome to the City of Mayet is just the tip of what I had in mind for building the ~perfect~ city.
THAT SAID. We would be open to players writing up things like this, but we would ask that these places be PMed to Brilliant Moonbeams so that we can work with you in regards to them, being that they would be such large, public places.
I [Skye] also agree entirely that having descriptions of the districts would be fantastic and that is something that we will definitely be working on as we continue to flesh out the setting -- ideally even including a map [I am such a visual person that maps help me a LOT when it comes to orientation, etc]!★

catmagick Are Guardian Cats born with the crescent moon mark or does it appear once they awaken? ★The crescent moon mark is not visible on Earth-born Guardian Cats until they've been awakened after which point it is then only visible to other powered individuals and their civilian counterparts -- much in the same way that only powered individuals and their civilian counterparts can clearly hear and understand that a Guardian Cat is talking and not just meowing or using other feline vocalizations.★

StarshineAngel01 I was just curious about How many active quests can a user have? ★A player may have as many active quests as they would like, although we ask that everyone keep in mind that having an active quest does not mean that you own or are guaranteed a specific sphere, mineral or place of power (when we eventually get to knights) until after a slot is obtained. Multiple players may quest for the same sphere or use the same name and no one should bully or discourage anyone from doing so! ★

houllow Hello, a few questions here! Sorry to bother ;;; 1. What counts as an abandoned roleplay, or is that not something that happens here? By abandoned I mean like....it was started during an event that is no longer ongoing, or your RP partner has vanished/lost interest in play. 2. Follow up to above, if abandoned roleplays are a thing: If your character in a roleplay that is "abandoned" has over 500 words in it, yet clearly it cannot be wrapped up due to some reasons, is there a way to get credit for the roleplay? 3. Are solos meant to be posted only in journals, or can they be in an actual thread as well? If in the case of them being allowed in a thread would it be possible to make a thread to store a characters solos, or...? Thank you ;;; ★At this time we are hesitant to make a call as to what could be considered an 'abandoned roleplay', knowing that it isn't uncommon for Real Life to give a swift kick that can sometimes impact the progress of a role play, amongst other things. This may be something that we have to revisit in the future, but for the time being we encourage communication between players!
In the case of roleplays started during an event that is no longer going on -- the end of an event does not mean that a roleplay cannot be completed, only that any new roleplays started after its end should not take place in the event setting. We would highly encourage players to communicate with one another to discuss resolutions, first and foremost!
Solos can be posted in a number of different ways based on player preference! They can be posted in journals or they can be posted in individual threads or a player may opt to make a thread that they use to post a series of solos in! Any thread started specifically for solos should have either [ S ] or [Solo] in the title! ★

a-disgruntled-dragon Copy pasta from the discord: For the Cosmos Knight Import thread, does the AU Journal need to CURRENTLY be a Cosmos Knight? I have a character in mind for this, and in one AU he is a Dark Kingdom Soldier currently, and in the other AU he is a Cosmos Knight. Also, does only ONE AU apply for imports, namely Moonshop? And uh, are the character imports closed? Asking for a friend (me, that's the friend) ★Hello and welcome! Thank you for posting your questions here so we can reference them easily going forward!
For the Cosmos Knight Import thread, the AU journal does not need to be a Cosmos Knight in AU but it does have to belong to a character who is already a knight! As our process with knights is currently a Work in Progress, and some variations of knights will not exist in our setting, we wanted to give players the opportunity to switch things up where applicable in order to help get characters into play!
The only AU that we have permitted imports from is a Gaia-based shop (that we are in no way affiliated) with which we have linked to in the Import Threads for the convenience of our players!
Imports are currently closed for Sailor Soldiers and Dark Kingdom Soldiers, unfortunately! However, the Name Reservations list is still currently open for a little bit longer in the event you are interested in reserving any of your characters for future customs!★
