Mayet Approximately an hour's drive from some of the finest beaches on the east coast and nestled in a small green valley lies Mayet, a city known for its innovation every bit as much as it is known for its artistry and beauty.
Priding itself on its modern, clean appearance, the heart of the city is a marvel of urban architecture. Downtown Mayet is a labyrinth of glass and steel skyscrapers. The Feather of Ma'at is the tallest of these giants and the most ornamental. Built to resemble a cross between an ancient temple and something one might see in an Aliens movie, the Feather is a testament to "organic architecture". During the day, the Feather is a vision of white and gold. But at night, it glows as the opaque, white glass is lit from within.
Surrounding the downtown area are multiple districts, giving residents of Mayet access to the finest things when it comes to arts and entertainment. The city is also the home to a public park that plays host to a myriad of events from outdoor concerts to art fairs that bring in vendors from nearby communities. The farmers market is also here every Saturday, drawing locals with fresh, organic food from nearby farms and orchards -- another source of tourism for Mayet, especially during the autumn months.
Also of note are the suburban neighborhoods within a short commute of the business district. It is here that you'll still find white picket fences, green grass and stately trees. The Mayet School District has made sure to put its schools in this part of the city, keeping everything convenient and close to home when it comes to the education of Mayet’s youth.
As for day to day life in Mayet, most of the population would express the opinion that they live in one of the safest, cleanest, most radiant cities in the States. Even the nightlife trends towards the safe side with teenagers often going out on the town or visiting one of the many Under 21 clubs in the area. With a low crime rate, excellent schools and plenty of opportunity for those willing to work for it, Mayet City could well be the most perfect city on Earth.

Attractions The Eye Ferris Wheel & View Point Until the construction and installation of the Feather, the Eye was well known as being the best place where one could get the best view in all of Mayet. Without heading to the heart of downtown many of the locals say that it still is as it provides a birds-eye view of more than just steel and glass.
Standing at 400 feet tall, this marvel is no mere Ferris wheel. It is an icon -- an observation wheel, if you will. Each capsule on the wheel can contain up to ten people, lifting them to new heights for a stunning glimpse of the city and its surrounding areas. With air-conditioning in the summer months and stability control, the Eye easily surpasses any comparisons that could be made to carnival-sized wheels.
Each capsule spends a few minutes paused at the top for maximum viewing pleasure, giving everyone the opportunity to really take in the city's stunning skyline. A popular place for proposals, tickets can either be bought at the entrance or purchased in advance.
The Fairy Garden Botanical Garden & Conservatory
Etoile Observatory Telescope & Lounge The Etoile Observatory is a beautiful get away, for evenings. Starting as soon as dusk falls they open the observatory for tours and stargazing. Notable celestial events can be viewed in turns through the observatory Telescope, or seen on projection screens within the lounge.
The lounge itself is a dimly lit affair with soft music played. During the daylight hours people can sit and partake of the relaxing environment as up to date tours of the solar system play across enormous flatscreens. They provide educational courses on new technologies that will provide positive impacts on the world climate as well to help maintain the positive impact on the world.
Special events are also held for particularly notable astrological phenomena. Expect viewings and broadcasts of solar eclipses, and even meteor showers both in the lounge and on their social media in order to bring the events to as many people as possible with the greatest ease of access.

Students of the Elementary School will progress to either Mayet Secondary or one of the two private Secondary schools upon graduation.
Mayet Secondary School Grades 6-12 Recently renovated and restructured to update and improve the building, classrooms and curriculum, Mayet Secondary is a school with a well established staff, varied courses and teachers committed to continuing the groundwork laid at the elementary school level. Featuring everything the average student could want as far as extracurricular activities, Mayet Secondary is home to a nationally recognized Football team and their Debate Club and Quiz Team frequently takes home inter-district awards.
[Mayet Secondary is comprised of two buildings on a large 'campus'. Building one houses grades 6-8 while grades 9-12 are in the second building. Extracurricular activities are typically split by age group/building to allow everyone to have their chance to shine.]
Specialty Schools
Smithwick’s School of Technology & Science Grades 9-12
Smithwick's specializes in the FUTURE and the core of STEM. With a focus on technical skills and scientific knowledge, classes are very hands on and often include lab work, experiments and group projects. Students are given the opportunity to shine individually while being encouraged to collaborate and work together for SCIENCE. Graduates are often fast-tracked into Treva College for Career Advancement to further their careers with many chosen for summer intern opportunities with tech and development companies throughout the city.
St Cecelia’s School of the Arts Grades 9-12 St Cecelia's, fondly referred to as Cece's by it's students, is known for the talent and creativity that thrives throughout it. With gen ed classes wrapped up early in the day afternoons are left open for exploring true passions through various forms of media from canvas to computer, symphony to synthesizer. Students are encouraged to follow their calling, provided with practice rooms for musical study and composition and studios for all kinds of artistry.
Music: Jazz, Small Ensemble (Brass & String), Symphony, Choral (Accompanied & A Capella)
Art: Digital (Includes Photography, Design and Architecture), Stained Glass, Painting, Sculpture, Ceramics
Graduates of Cece's are given high recommendations for future advancements in their art field of choice, permitted to audition for the Junior Symphony for early admissions and provided with guidance for their portfolios when applying to their programs of choice at Mayet University.
Private Schools Our Lady of Destiny Finishing School for Girls Grades 6-12 This institution, rapidly approaching its centennial year, was originally intended as a religious academy for young ladies of means. However, time and a shifting social consciousness has softened the school’s approach to education considerably. While still mainly catering to those who wish to purchase the best possible education for their daughters, OLoD also awards full scholarships to approximately 40 promising young ladies every year in subjects such as Art, Literature, Science and more.
While it is no longer mandatory to attend daily religious services that were once an intrinsic part of attending OLoD, the cathedral on site has been preserved as one of many historic landmarks in Mayet with the stained glass and architecture drawing in many artists attention. For those interested, mass is still held at 8am on Sunday, letting out just in time for brunch, and the chapel bells ring perfectly on schedule to signal each passing hour.
Additionally, for those students who wish to experience the full High School ride, OLoD works together with the staff of Edgemont Academy to ensure that milestones such as Prom and Winter Formals can be enjoyed by the students of both schools.
Edgemont Academy for Boys Grades 6-12 While not as venerated as Our Lady, Edgemont still boasts an impressive enough pedigree. Intended to act as a top notch private school for boys, Edgemont has not strayed very far from that ideal. Expensive and proud of it, the school regularly turns out exceptionally well-rounded students, ready to make their way through the world of business and finance -- along with whatever else might be needed in order for them to excel. After all, the staff at Edgemont see education as a calling… And, frankly, if someone is going to pay that much for schooling, it is imperative to make sure that they are getting their money’s worth in all regards.
Of course, money isn’t the only way to be accepted into Edgemont. While not quite as generous as OLoD, Edgemont will still offer full scholarships for exceptionally intelligent lads. Applications for these scholarships are often put in by parents years in advance, although it’s been said that the Dean also sends out scouts to both sporting and intellectual events as well. Debate Club, anyone?
Edgemont staff are known to collaborate with the staff of Our Lady of Destiny in providing a full and rich High School experience for their students in the form of Prom and Formal Dances.

Entertainment Strikers Bowling Alley & Diner Well known for its neon ball-and-pin sign, animated to show the pins and ball meeting as a ‘strike’ -When you first step inside Strikers - it has done its level best to live up to its slogan that it will return you to ‘the Golden Age’ of bowling.
the 1950’s style uniforms, classic ‘soda bar’, rock and roll music playing from speakers styled as jukeboxes. Besides the soda bar it does have a liquor license and a diner style kitchen that serves excellent burgers and wings. Servers bring food to individual lanes if people prefer. After hours parties can even enjoy a bit of bourbon in their thick shakes while enjoying the retro decor and music.
Pull up a red vinyl seat and lean over the white table tops wrapped in beveled chrome as you share straws with your favorite friends and glance over wall murals sporting illustrations of historic moments for the city .
Strikers also sports a classical styled stage for live music to come and play. Special nights for ‘rockabilly’ as well as more classic cover bands make fun events to attend and participate in. Patrons can even engage in a small ‘sock hop’ in a designated dance area of classic tiled floors while the live bands serenade them.
For some events - patrons are encouraged to dress up as though the 50’s or its fashion statements. Competitions such as dance-offs offer prizes that can range from what you might found at a carnival, such as large sawdust stuffed animals, to tastier Strikers specific prizes such as a free meal, or time for you and a number of friends to bowl on one of their lanes.
Benton Street Theater Historical Theater Benton Street Theater is an historical landmark. This old theater still bears its original antiquated sailings even after being updated to suit Modern Movie screens and projectors.
The lobby is a mosaic featuring the western Zodiac, where Pisces illuminates a small wishing fountain and the other Zodiacs are found tucked in around the lobby and peeking out at the patrons. While it's possible to purchase larger bags of popcorn, Benton Street prefers to keep to the tradition of tall, thin white paper bags of lightly salted popcorn served from an old-fashioned popcorn cart for just a nickel.
The actual Confection counter is more reminiscent of a small candy shop, mixing by weight and flavor so that patrons will get the maximum enjoyment out of their theater snacks.
Find your seats amidst the rows of rich, red velvet chairs, made more comfortable and accessible than they once were by the inclusion of wider aisles and more gently sloped walkways.
The screen is still framed in heavy red velvet curtains tied back with thick golden ropes and topped with the classic comedy and tragedy masks.
The walls also sport heavy velvet drapes to help muffle outside sounds and conceal the speaker system. While overhead, the ceiling is painted a deep midnight blue with constellations each painted out in gold leaf and updated so that each star is a small light helping to illuminate the seating below. The "stars" even shift to a subtler gold as the house lights dim.
The theater still proudly sports a single screen and is well known for its festivals highlighting older classics, black and white movies and even silent films. They all grace the silver screen here. Especially enjoyed are special nights where they will show more modern classics like Labyrinth, Bedknobs and Broomsticks, even old Looney Toons or Silly Symphonies. Enthusiasts flock to the theater for their special showings of Rocky Horror throughout the month of October.

Fine Dining The Station Railroad Restaurant
Every city has a history - and Mayet wasn’t always a city of fast electric rails, giving The Station the perfect opportunity to take over one of the old railway stations from the days of steam engines. They have preserved the classic look of the old station keeping a simple interior with bench seating, decorating with railroad memorabilia and providing atmospheric lighting via antique railway lanterns. Even the staff contributes to the overall fantasy by dressing as conductors and footmen.
Seating is limited, but the experience makes it worth the wait. Indulgent food and top shelf drinks mark their menu, nightly specials often sport Standing Rib Roast and Duck ala Orange, but they also cater to the picker crowds with things like decadent sharp ‘mac and cheese’ sprinkled with lightly crisped bacon.
They source as much as they can from farms in and around Mayet to keep their ingredients as fresh as possible, and locals who pass muster with their head chef may find the chance to sell things like local jellies and honey at the ‘station master’s desk’ - where rather than tickets you can purchase local produce and some of the Stations Decadent desserts to take home for that extra special treat.

Public Services
Mayet Memorial Hospital
Mayet Memorial Hospital is committed to helping provide the best of care to the people of Mayet. Strict policy on bedside manner and careful attention to details means that everyone gets top quality care, covered for everyone following a federal mandate that reformed the healthcare system, making the focus on the care and wellbeing of all and not simply those who could afford it.
The heart of this hospital is a modern building, the pinnacle of modern construction and the peak of medical infrastructure, surrounded by a complex of smaller buildings that house specialty departments and wards. A teaching hospital, it sports not only the most up to date medical equipment, it is also home to classrooms and experienced medical professionals of all kinds who guide their students through procedures until they are ready to take the reins themselves.
The hospital itself is associated with dozens of other primary care providers, smaller hospitals and urgent care facilities throughout the city, allowing it to transport people quickly and efficiently to locations that will best serve them with minimal trouble.
Put simply, MMH cares.
Mayet Police Department
Mayet Police Department [MPD] is divided into a complex system of specialized areas committed to assisting the populace at large. Crime in Mayet reduced significantly following the reform of an antiquated system in the late 90’s that set the standards for service and care nationwide.
Beat cops who help in localized settings live in the neighborhoods that they assist in patrolling as their primary duty. Devoted to their community, they function in a way similar to a ‘neighborhood watch’ reporting strange occurrences and responding to the rare disturbance as needed.
Mental Health contacts are kept and utilized for getting people to rehab and clinics where counselors are brought in to aide with high tension situations, otherwise serving as highly skilled personnel for de-escalation and psychological profiling.
Detectives do the digging for any more serious crimes or mysteries, though they too must be trained in the same skill sets, including additional training to reach out to third parties for assistance when the situation warrants.
Across every branch of MPD, any breach of protocol or use of excessive force results in immediate dismissal from the force with no benefits or hope of rehire. Even private security won’t pick up someone disgraced from the Mayet city police.
Mayet Fire Department
Mayet Fire Department is a well coordinated affair, still operating primarily out of its original location in the historic district, partnering with both paid personnel and volunteer fire and rescue throughout the city to broaden their ability to provide quick responses in a well organized network. They hold training events to keep their men up to date on any new equipment and techniques, sometimes competing against one another to test speed under stress.
Volunteer training isn’t the only partnership that Mayet Fire Department focuses on. They work hand in hand with Mayet Memorial Hospital, cross training on the basics of CPR and even EMT training so that at least one person on any given crew will have at least a minimum of medical training in case of emergency. They also pair with the Mayet Police Department as coordinated training helps make sure that they can work well with each other in case of emergency, making them part of a well organized and highly effective response team.
Together they coordinate events for the city as a whole, visiting schools to teach fire safety and introducing promising new recruits nearing graduation the potential future in the world of Fire Safety.
Sporting top of the line equipment and well rounded training, anyone can proudly say that they are part of either the Mayet Fire Department, or its diverse network of Volunteer Personnel.

Transportation & Travel Airport
Public Transportation
With a city the size of Mayet and a strong push towards clean energy and cutting back on emissions, a large portion of the city's budget goes directly into infrastructure and a wide array of public transportation for convenience and to ensure that citizens have options.
The heart of the city is well known for its Electric Trolley System. These classically themed transports provide easy access to various locations throughout the city, and are well known for their timely nature. They even have pickup and drop off hubs for the Mayet City Subway and electric rail system, as well as the Mayet City Bus for those who need to make longer trips via public transportation.
The Atum Rail System consists of electric speed trains that run from the outer limits of Mayet through the heart of the city. These quick transport systems have multiple branches and stops throughout the city and provide easy access to people coming and going to work at all hours. Quick, clean and efficient, they proudly offer ease of access to all people and multiple personnel are stationed at each boarding location to assist as needed.
The Mayet Bus Lines, named for the city in which it was founded, sports sleek electric buses to help transport people from place to place in speed and comfort. Sometimes even beyond the city limits. Equipped with wheelchair friendly accessibility and flexible seating, they make for exceptional transport for those who don’t wish to travel by train or trolley. While not as timely as the trolley, due to added features such as longer stops and on-call services for those with special requirements, they are a well respected service that is built to serve all reaches of its community.
Other diverse transport systems that can be found throughout Mayet include the Portal, a fleet of Hybrid automobiles with a diverse staff, whose primary duty is to help people get to specific locations at specific times. Their drivers are all trained to assist in maximizing the comfort and safety of those who call upon their services.
A subsidiary of the Portal Driving Group also provides services such as grocery pick up and food delivery. They turn a portion of their profits from this business into food services for people with low income or suffering from unexpected hardships.
Additionally, they have an emergency line that users can call at any time someone feels unsafe (at no charge) and a car not already in service will be dispatched ASAP. They network with the Mayet City Hospital and Police departments to provide an extra layer of safety and security within the city.
There are also rentable bikes throughout the city that cost very little and can be borrowed from a multitude of stations, allowing people to swap from walking to bicycling with ease. The small fee for their rental is then dedicated to the upkeep of the bikes to keep them ready and accessible through all the seasons hospitable to such travel.
