▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ✧✧✧ Caravan Comes to Town
Solo - Summoner - WC 1200 (4pts)

Sy was busy hunting for more herbs on the outside of town when she chanced a look up and saw something approaching in the distance. A wagon of some kind it looked like. Her head tilted a little to the side as she straightened up to watch, one dirtied hand coming up to shield her eyes from the bright sun. For a while she stood there, curious and watched as it got closer and closer. After about a minute or so she noticed that it was more than one wagon. Syqvara counted three big wagons and what looked like two smaller carts all traveling in a line. The number of people she couldn’t quite pin down yet, however.

She looked down at the herbs she’d collected so far and figured that she had enough for the day that she could go home or afford to be distracted - like she was now. When she looked up again it appeared that a lone swordsman had broken away from the others so that they could jog ahead and approach her. Not wanting to be caught unprepared in case they were hostile she quickly bent to pick up her staff, the feathers and beads tinkling as it was lifted from the ground.

“Whoa.. Hey, easy. I just wanted to ask a question.” Came the call from the person, a male now that he'd spoken and was close enough to tell.

“Yes? What is it?” Sy was still a bit wary.

“Didn’t mean to scare you or anything. We just needed to make sure we’re going in the right direction. The town, it’s that way, correct?” He pointed to the side, the direction they were traveling in and the way Sy had come from to get to where they were.

She followed with her eyes to look then brought her gaze back to him. She offered a very slight nod of her head. “It is.. What business do you have there?”

The male looked relieved. “Oh thank the spirits. We lost our map day before yesterday.” Forming a grin he looked toward the wagons, who had slowed as they got closer since they were waiting on the answer to the question. “We’re a trading caravan. The owner wanted to try a new route so that they could go through a few other towns.” He lifted his arm and waved them all closer, letting them know that it was alright.

“Oh. That’s wonderful. I know a few people will love the chance to trade some goods.” She nodded her head and bend down once again to collect her basket of herbs.

She’d not get the chance to pick it up, however, as the male swordsman would step forward and scoop it up. “Let me help you. You’ve helped us so it’s only fair.”

“I didn’t really do anything other than confirm what you would have found out on your own.” Sy smiled. “But sure, it’s nice to have some help.”

“I’m Rhadamanthus, by the way. I’m in charge of security for the caravan.” His other hand was offered to her in a friendly shake.

“Oh, I’m Syqvara. Just a regular townie.” She took the offered hand then quickly withdrew. Her eyes went to the wagons once again as they got closer and smiled as details could be made out. It looked like they had several different items to trade with. Foods. Trinkets. And cloth. It would be an interesting thing to see when the people in town came rushing out to get a glimpse. “You are going to make several people in town very happy.”

“That’s our goal.” Rhadamanthus grinned.

He turned then so that he could get back to the road, though they were only a few feet off it. Seeing that the ground was uneven he reached back to offer Sy a steadying hand. She took it, not wanting to be rude, and did as he did to get back onto the solid ground of the road. Once there she paused long enough for the wagons to catch up to them then turned so that she could start walking again.

“So it seems we’ll be staying in town for a few days. We need a break of our own and the owner is hoping to unload a few goods before they go bad. Got any recommendations as far as entertainment?” Rhad was curious to know what her town had to offer.

“Oh? Well.. we have a tavern in the center. It’s good for food and drink, sometimes there is singing and dancing. Mostly, though, families will hold their own gatherings and invite the town for some fun. You guys could always invite the people out to join you.” Sy was trying to help them break the ice. “Do you have any decent singers? We have a few people in town that can play a tune or two.”

Rhad grinned at her. So far it sounded like her town was going to be an interesting one. Even if it wasn’t a large city with a bustling market there was still some things to be gained, he was sure. And he and his band of caravaners could use the down time. Traveling non-stop for the past week was getting old.

“Oh, I think we can arrange a thing or two.” He nodded his head. “We’ll have to find a place to set up first then the fun can begin.” He thought about it for a minute, his eyes going forward so that he could scan the area and make sure there was no threat. “Will you come? Join in the fun? We might need you to delegate or something.” She was the first person they’d met and so far she was nice. She also seemed to have some good ideas for them to keep good relations with the people. It was useful.

Syqvara considered it for a moment before giving a slightly hesitant nod of her head. “I.. could probably join you for a bit.”

“Wonderful.”

As they got closer to the town, as they weren’t more than maybe five minutes or so away, the sight of homes came into view. The main road that went snaking through the middle of town had only a few people on it at first but as they got closer more and more people came filing out to see what was going on.

Sy reached for her basket and chuckled. “And there is your welcome party. I’ll take my leave so you can go introduce yourselves.” She paused for a second then looked at Rhad. “I’ll come by later to see what things you have to trade.”

The swordsman grinned at her again and nodded. “Sure thing.” He let go of the basket easily enough then gave her a wave as she hurried away. He had hoped she’d at least stay to introduce them to the people but he could always manage that on his own. By the time Sy was out of sight he was stepping forward and waving his hand in a friendly manner to the other people who had come out.

“Hello~!” He greeted them before going into detail about their business and why they were there.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ✧✧✧ Let Me Show You Around
Solo - Summoner - WC 1284 (4pts) - Used in Breeding

Some hours had passed since the caravan first rolled into town and when the excitement died down, only a little, they had been directed to a place they could set up for business. Rhadamanthus quickly went to work with the others in their little parade of goods to get things all worked out. Tents for the vendors to sleep in, a small area for them to make a fire and cook on. Even where each wagon would be parked and where the carts could set up shop so they could sell to the townspeople. Rhad delegated most of the security work to the others, making sure certain areas were safe, while he went around making sure the caravaners had what they needed. When it came up that something or another was missing he would help them look.

It was during one of his searching expeditions that he noticed Syqvara coming into their little encampment with something in hand. And this time it wasn’t a basket. Instead it looked like a large jug. She also seemed to be struggling with it. Rhad moved quickly over to her and took the large object in his hands easily. It made him arch a brow at her, truly taking in her form. She was small, thin, just on the healthy side of sickly. Why had she thought to carry such a heavy thing on her own? And just how far had she walked with it.

Sy, on the other hand, gave a small gasp of relief as the jug was taken from her. The breath she hadn’t known she’d been holding in her efforts to carry the thing finally let go. “Oh, thank you. Apparently I filled it more than I should have.” A smile was given to her helper before she patted the side of the jug. “I figured you all would be thirsty. Its nothing special. Just a refreshing juice we get from a local fruit. Helps keep you cool on hot days.” As she spoke she glanced up at the sun. It was mid way through it’s descent to hide behind the horizon.

“Thanks Syqvara. I’m sure we’ll all appreciate it. Maybe next time have someone help you though.” He chuckled at her then nodded with his head to get her to come along with him. “Wanna come meet the others?” He was a naturally friendly person and it overflowed into others most times.

“Wha-.. sure.” Sy couldn’t help but share in the smile as she nodded and brushed her hands on her skirt.

He grinned even wider as he turned to lead the way. First he went toward the fire pit where a woman was cooking so that he could drop off the jug. Consumables for their little band of traders was kept there. He made a noise as he plopped the container onto the soft grass. “Here ya go Yadvel. Syqvara gave us something refreshing to drink with our meal.” As he straightened he motioned toward Sy.

“Syqvara this is Yadvel, she’s our cook. Without her we’d all starve. Or at the very least be eating stuff without flavor. Yadvel, this is Syqvara, the lovely lady that pointed the way earlier today.” With introductions made he looked from one to the other.

Sy, still shy around others, gave a small wave of her hand at the woman. “Hello..” Her nervous reply betraying any outward confidence she thought she had.

Yadvel smiled at her and gave a nod. “Thanks for the drink. Will you be staying for food? We have plenty and I’m sure Rhad would love the company.” The woman winked at her then before going back to stirring what was in the pot.

Rhadamanthus rolled his eyes then motioned for Sy to follow him. “Come on, I can introduce you to some of the others if they aren’t too busy.” Without thinking he reached down and took her hand so that she wouldn’t get lost in their maze of a camp or fall behind. “So that one over there is Frazel, he helps with the beasts mostly. His wife won’t let him near the stall since he forgets things. She claims he’d forget his mind if it wasn’t firmly in his head.” The way he spoke about the man seemed more out of friendly affection than any condemnation of who he was.

“Oh, and there’s his wife. Mahbel. Basically the caravan mother. Careful, she might adopt you.” He chuckled and waved to her as she passed with an armful of wares.

Sy continued to smile as she was led about by the hand getting to know the people of the caravan. She was introduced to several others which still left her feeling shy and put on the spot but the entire time Rhad kept hold of her hand. It was a nice gesture that made her feel safe and she appreciated it.

When they made their complete round of the camp and there was no one else for Rhad to point out to her he wimpy walked with her, his hand still holding onto hers as if it were nothing. “So that was everyone actually. What did you think? A mix matched family right?” He laughed as he turned his head to look at her.

“Mhm. But they all seem very nice people. Traveling with them must be fun.” Syqvara commented.

“Oh they are.” He nodded to confirm his own words. “Do you travel? Or have you?” He was curious now.

“Oh, uhm.. I used to. I left home when I was young and went all over the place. I stayed away for many years. I only just came back about five years ago actually.” Sy smiled fondly at her memories. Getting to go all over the world had been fun and she knew she’d only gone to a small percentage of the world. Especially with the new places being discovered. But it had also been enough for her. She was ready to settle down and have a home and family. “I’m glad to be home now.”

Rhad nodded his head and looked forward as they made their way to the edge of camp, back to the entrance - or exit if one were leaving. “I love traveling. I don’t think I’ll ever stop. Don’t get me wrong, I love my home. Its a nice village and the people are great but.. Without going out and seeing what the world has to offer I wouldn’t get to meet new people. Like Fazel and Mahbel. Or you, for example.” He lifted her hand in his to show what he meant. “I’m glad I met you, Syqvara. You’ve been helpful to us so far and friendly toward us all. Not a lot of people are like that with strangers.”

When they reached the exit he finally let go of her hand and smiled. “So tomorrow we officially open for business. You should stop by if you’ve the time. After all, all the good stuff is in the first day. You wouldn’t want to miss it would you?” He flashed her another smile, this one trying to convince her to come buy things.

Sy laughed and shook her head at him. “Alright. I’ll see about that. My mother would certainly love to have a look. Its all she’s spoken about since earlier.”

Rhad laughed and nodded his head. “Alright then. See you tomorrow.”

Sy gave a nod then turned to head off, looking back at him so that she could wave, stumble a bit due to inattention, then blush and turn back so that she could hurry. When she chanced a look back again she saw that Rhad was still standing there and watching her leave.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ✧✧✧ Caravans Last Night
Solo - Summoner - WC 1266 (4pts) - Used in Breeding

It was the last night for the caravan to be in town and Sy wasn’t about to miss the festivities! Song and dance! Friendship and laughter! It was everything she loved all in one spot. The warmth and glow of the bonfire they all gathered around was amazing to be near. It kept away the subtle chill of the night air.

With her second drink in hand she swayed to the merry song and dance of the others, laughing along with them and clapping one hand against her leg to keep the beat going. There were others from her town there as well, enjoying the fun and food. When she looked across the way she spotted the male that had quickly become a friend, Rhadamanthus. She lifted her hand to wave at him to show she’d seen him then went back to clapping.

It wasn’t long before she brought her cup up to her lips to finish off the drink she had, quenching her thirst and giving her something else to do. Sy was trying to avoid being dragged into the dancing. She thought she was a horrible dancer and was better left to the side lines for watching and clapping along.

Rhad noticed her sitting and drinking so he grinned and plucked two more cups from the nearby table and made his way over to her. “What is this? This night is meant for fun and dancing. I see no dancing from you!” He laughed.

Sy shook her head at him. “Oh no. You’ll not get me out there.” Her empty cup was set down only to be replaced with the new one her friend had brought her. She took it and happily gulped half of it down right away.

“You will have to dance with me at least once before the night is over.” Rhad told her as he too lifted his cup and took a drink.

Syqvara gave a roll of her eyes in answer but then focused on the others.

------------

A few hours later, and several drinks in, Sy was on her feet and moving. Rhadmanthus had managed to get her up and dancing! She was full of giggles at the fact and he was grinning from ear to ear over his win. The beat was an energetic one, forcing her to keep pace and bounce along, her long braid moving wildly behind her. The caravan guard quickly became mesmerized by his friend and her joy. He couldn’t help but watch her as she moved.

It amazed him even more that no one had found it within them to claim her as their love. Rhad quickly came to the conclusion that they were all cowards! If he did not have a love of his own already then he could easily see himself being with his friend. She was easy to get along with. She loved life. She had spirit and caring.

When the music changed to a slower pace he watched as Sy made to return to her seat. He couldn’t allow that so he grabbed her by the arm and swung her around so that she was brought right into his arms.

The summoner squeaked with laughter but wrapped her arms around her friend as the music changed and he apparently wasn’t ready to sit. Sy felt light headed from too much drink but it was a good feeling and there was too much joy to worry about the headache she would have in the morning. Panting because of her fast paced dancing earlier she leaned her head against Rhad to catch her breath.

The closeness between the two made for an awkward moment and when Sy lifted her head to look up at Rhadamanthus, about to ask him if he was alright, she was silenced quickly with a kiss. Her first instinct was to pull away but the hand at the small of her back prevented that. So instead she melted into it. Let it grow deeper. Something somewhere in the back of her mind told her she needed to stop it, to pull back and rethink things, but she ignored it. And apparently Rhad did the same because he moved so that he could lift her up into his arms more fully and started to walk off into the dark and away from the prying eyes of others. Things were heating up between the two of them and they needed privacy.

-----------

Come morning Sy woke to the sounds of chirping birds and the discomfort of her arm half asleep and tingling. She groaned and moved a little, finding her body sore and her head aching. Not to mention that there was another body right next to hers. Instantly her eyes flew open and she stared at Rhad. Both had a wide eyed look as they stared at one another for a food minute.

After the initial shock they moved in tandem, one rolling away while the other covered up with the blankets.

“Oh. Oh! Oh boy..” Sy half winced as she kept the blanket close to her. “I’m.. I.. Uh..” Well she couldn’t exactly say she was sorry, because she wasn’t. Clearly it had been a good night. Drinks and food and dancing. Though the end result had been unexpected.

“Yeah.. Uh.. I..” He seemed to be at a loss for words as well. Of course there was something else in his eyes that she couldn’t quite pin down.

To avoid the situation Rhadamanthus quickly dressed and looked around for her clothes as well. When he found them he handed them to her and did everything he could to avoid looking at her. “I uh.. I.. I’ll be outside.” With that he left so that he could give her privacy.

Syqvara thought it sweet of him and she waited until he was gone before she started to dress. Only when she was fully clothed and her braid fixed did she go outside. It was till early morning so the rest of the camp was still sleeping. A good thing since she didn’t want to have to explain her coming from Rhad’s tent. Or to deal with the amount of blushing she would do at their knowing looks. She was having a hard enough time not blushing as it was.

“Sy.. I..” Her friend seemed to struggle with his words for a minute before he shoved his hand thought his hair. “This.. It can’t. We can’t..”

She pressed her lips together and nodded her head at him. “I know. Just..” She couldn’t say to forget it happened. It would hurt her feelings if he could do so easily. And while she knew getting attached was a bad idea she couldn’t help the feeling of being closer to him than before. Still, she liked him as a friend and wanted to keep that. “I would like to stay as your friend. Even though this happened.. Is that possible?”

It took him a minute of staring at her, at the ground, at his tent, but he finally nodded. “Yeah. I’d like that.” Rhad smiled as he brought his eyes back to her.

When he heard the sound of one of the other caravaners waking up so that the day could be started he turned to look. Sy did as well and then she thought about the questions that would be raised if she stayed. So she reached out and touched her friend’s arm to let him know she was leaving. There was an awkward goodbye between the two and then she was off, hurrying to get away before anyone else really noticed.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ✧✧✧ Discussing the Future
Solo - Summoner - WC 937 (3pts) - Used in Breeding

It was months after the misunderstanding, or was it an accident? Sy wasn’t sure what to label it really. All she knew was that it had happened and it was now evident that there was a consequence of it. She looked down at her growing belly. She was going to be a mother. The idea thrilled her. It was something she hadn’t even known she wanted until it was happening.

One hand went over the small bump as her other hand held the basket of herbs. She was once more out and about picking things that would be needed. Both for cooking and for healing. It was something she liked doing as it gave her time to herself and gave her something to focus on. Today was no different. She was busy searching the ground for the herbs she wanted when she heard something off in the distance. Sy’s green eyes lifted up and she saw a familiar sight.

Caravan wagons. And a very familiar looking male walking toward her with his arm extended in a wave.

Syqvara stayed where she was and waited for Rhad to finish making it all the way to her. When he got close enough to see her hand was on her stomach he slowed, his face going from happy to confused. Sy had worried about that.

“Vare.. uhm..what?” He pointed at her middle.

“I’m carrying a child. Er.. your child actually.” She didn’t think there was any reason to beast around the bush. Might as well let him know the truth of it now before things got more out of hand.

His eyes widened and his jaw dropped. Rhadamanthus’ eyes were glued to her little bump for a while before he looked up at her. There was a mix of emotions there. None of which she could rightly pick out due to the expression of shock.

“That’s.. That’s mine?” He had to ask again. “From when we..?” He pointed at himself and then her quickly. “Oh spirits.. Vare I’m so sorry.” Rhad seemed to deflate a little.

Sy blinked at him. A nod given to the first two questions so as to answer him but the last bit, his apology, gained a furrowed brow. “For what?”

“For that.” He pointed at her belly. “I told you that we couldn’t..” He took a deep breath. “Vare, I have someone waiting for me at home. What we did should never have happened.” He looked like he was ready to turn and run. Or cry. Or hug her. “Not that I won’t take responsibility for it. The idea of me becoming a dad is thrilling. I just can’t be with you. I couldn’t do that to Lyza.”

As he started to explain she pressed her lips together trying to hide her smile. So that was what had him so worried? She shook her head and held up a hand. “Rhad wait.. I don’t expect you to drop everything in your life for what happened. I understand. But I would like you to know I’m keeping the child. I didn’t realize how much I wanted to be a mother until I found out.” Her eyes dropped back to her belly and her smile grew. “It’s alright that I’ll be doing it alone.”

A long pause and she looked up at him. “I would like the child to know you, know who you are. And of course I would like to remain friends with you.” Sy would never expect the man to leave his loved one for something that he had never intended to happen.

The guardsman nodded his head as she spoke. He hadn’t considered Syqvara not keeping the child so he was glad to hear it. When she mentioned that she would like for him to be involved at least a little he couldn’t keep the smile from his face. “You’d allow that? Even though I wouldn’t be able to be with you?”

“Yes. You are the father. I’d never deny that. And if your Lyza is alright with it then I think in the future when the child, a boy or girl, is old enough they can come to stay with you for a few days at a time. Get to know your family as well.” She’d thought it all out while he was gone. There had been time on her end to consider all angles.

“I would love that, Vare. I’m sorry things happened this way but.. I’m glad they happened like this with you.” If it had been another woman, someone petty, someone spiteful, then his life might become more complicated. As it was he could see that if things didn’t work with Lyza accepting the child then Sy would be okay with not having contact. He could always come see her and his son or daughter when the caravan rolled through. It would be months between each visit but he’d still get to see them.

Which brought him to another thought. Looking at her with a bit more concern he tried to calculate the timing. “I won’t be around when it comes. Do you have someone to help? Will you send word to me? Let me know if it’s a boy or girl?” He had so many questions now.

She thought about it for a second. Sy hadn’t thought about the actual birthing and who would be around. She’d been too happy to discover that she was carrying. But it didn’t scare her. Instead she simply nodded her head at him. “I’ll be alright and of course I’ll let you know. I can send a note to your home.”

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ✧✧✧ Experiencing little feet
Solo - Summoner - WC ?? ( pts )

She let out a long sigh as one hand rested on her swollen belly. Syqvara was in the last few days of her pregnancy and while it had been an experience to be sure she was very much ready for it to be iver. The weight of the child pushing down made her constantly need to use the facilities. And the waddle. She didn't walk anymore. It was a distinct waddle from side to side that got her feet shuffling and carried her from point A to point B. It was an uncomfortableness that she was ready to be done with.

Even now as she simply moved around her home to clean she could feel the pressure. The child within was pushing their feet against her and making skin stretch. At least they were no longer doing flips in there. Some months earlier she was sure she had a performing troupe in her belly just doing backflips. Sleep had been almost impossible.

"Darling do sit down and rest before you hurt yourself." Her mother said.

"I am fine, mother. Besides, it needs done." Sy wasn't going to leave the house a mess just because she could hardly bend over or see her toes.

That thought made her pause so that she could look down. Her stomach was clearly in the way of her seeing her feet. She gave a small snort and smiled. Being that she was thin to begin with her middle looked like she packed it plum full with a balloon. Until it moved. Then it looked oddly unnatural. The hand she constantly kept on it shifted so that it held the mass, cradling it from below.

"The birthing will be hard on you dear. You are so small." Her mothers elderly voice called out again.

The woman could see the love in her daughter's eyes for the child that had not yet been born. It made her smile. But there was a worry that her thin daughter would have a rough time or not make it at all.

"I will be fine. We both will." Sy reassured her mother with her words and a smile. She understood of course. Syqvara had always been small. Her green eyes moved to look at the elderly woman before she pointed to the blanket that was in her hand. "Are you almost finished with that? The baby will be here soon you know." She tried to change the subject.

Her mother looked down at the piece she was making and smiled fondly. "Not quite yet, but I still have a few days at least." She glanced at her daughter's belly then up to her face and smiled again. "It will be done by the time they arrive, I promise." Her head nodded, her greying hair moving with it.

Syqvara chuckled a little. It was true they still had a few days at least. Though she had to admit she was very much looking forward to meeting her little one. She couldn't help but wonder what they would look like. Who they would take after. And even what their little personality would be like. So many things and she would have to wait to find out. When the baby pushed their foot out again she brought her hand up to cover it. Sy had a feeling she was going to have a very active little one when they were finally born. Not that she minded. She might not be as young as she used to be but she wasn't old old either. Surely she would have the energy to keep up.
