A Place to Call Home Beast Charmer Growth Solo The fiery hot sands of Oba were behind her and Mirin could not have been happier. As far as she was concerned that entire place just should not exist. There was nothing but heat and sun in that god forsaken land and it did not suit her. She had blown through looking to see what kind of animals she could encounter there, but it didn’t take long at all for her to realize that the dry barrenness of Oba was just too much for her.
The salty wet air was much more forgiving and much more her style, she had found out. She genuinely liked Matori. She did feel sticky from the salt, but she barely noticed it anymore, not after being there for a few days. If anything, the stickiness was almost like being back home in Jauhar. It was so humid there a person almost always felt wet.
Mirin tugged on the bag over her shoulder and clicked her tongue to signal for her sailscale to follow her. Valya had been so patient and so loyal to her. She had a feeling that Valya had liked Oba much more than Mirin had, but she didn’t seem to be minding Matori much either. The sun must be such a nice feeling, not like the shady dim canopy of Jauhar. Mirin had left the other sailscales she tended to with her brother Masus for the time being. She knew that they were in good hands, but she wouldn’t have left Valya behind.
Mirin all but stumbled into her next destination. She hadn’t been paying much attention, turning her head from side to side, just wandering the streets of Matori when she landed herself among rows and rows of tents and makeshift lodgings. She didn’t quite understand where she made the wrong turn but she could distinctly tell she was in the wrong place.
The tents got bigger as she went down the row until she made it to the big top. She could hear a cacophony of sounds from inside the tent and peeled back the flaps to take a peak inside. There were seemingly tons and tons of performers, practicing and yelling to each other, counting beats, rattling off commands, chains of tricks and the order of their acts. It was chaos, but it was so stunning. Mirin hesitated for a moment, unsure whether she should leave them to it or not, but she was so drawn to it.
She gave Valya a scratch on the head before she took a deep breath in and ducked her head under the flap of the tent. ”Excuse me.” She called out to the nearest person she could find. ”Is there someone in charge here?” She asked them, her body already vibrating with excitement. It was a circus. And what better place for her and her sailscale menagerie than a circus? Maybe they needed a beast tamer in their midst for their show? Mirin was already running through all of the possibilities at the performer led her back to meet Jisena...
[Mirin finally takes off to explore Tendaji, and accidentally lands herself in the middle of the circus making the decision to make this her next path in life.]
