When Feralis saw sympathy and understanding in the she-wolfs eyes, he didn't know how to feel about it. He never expected nor wanted sympathy from anyone for his past. Hell, he never told anyone his past except Maria. And even then she was a special case. While he hadn't explicitly said what happened to them, she seemed to have figured it out one way or another. Or so he guessed with the look she gave him. 'The past is the past. Nothing to change, so no point dwelling on it.' He told himself as he cleared the thought from his mind. He may have grown defensive or snappy with another person, but not the she-wolf for whatever reason. He still wasn't entirely sure why, but he didn't quite feel like snapping at her. And while he certainly didn't want sympathy for it, not wanting to let that be a weakness of his, he wouldn't say anything more of it to her for now. Thankfully enough, she did not push the matter further. Laying on his back and star gazing, he didn't see where her eyes traveled but he heard her words about it being a similar reason to hers. She called the place close to home, if not home. Feralis was unsure how to respond to that. This forest was his as far as most were concerned. But he was only truly territorial where his pack resided, even if he had the desire for no people to be in the forest most times. But as a she-wolf... she could be a presence he tolerated. Not by his pack, but in the forest at least. He chose not to comment further on that matter as his eyes remained on the sky a little longer.

The night sky was truly beautiful; a sea of stars with the moon as the center of it all, in his mind. Whenever he looked to it, even if it were not a full moon, he felt his wolf side stir. Felt the desire to just go running on all fours into the forest; to hunt, run, whatever his heart desired. Despite the cost he knew of his own semblance, it was fine when it was from the moons. That was when he felt the most peace in his transformation to wolf; when he truly felt connected to nature, not just an unaware passerby or faunus trying to reconnect. His gaze would eventually return to Ylva as he was curious of her home. Her eyes again looked away from his but he noticed her tail wag and a smile crossing her lips. Still unsure why she was refusing to meet his gaze for long or at all sometimes, though she was evidently happy with the question from her reaction. And she would respond in great detail, more than he had honestly been expecting. She mentioned how it was a great desert, how faunus and humans were equal, that it formed during the great war... whatever that was... and that it has been together ever since. While he had no clue what the great war was, having not been taught much in terms of history, he did know the significance of faunus and human relation. After all, it was how his mother died and why he had moved to live in the forest in the first place. Even if things seemed to have changed since then, it was still a memory that would not leave him. He disliked humans, and faunus were entirely defined on how a wolf would view the creature they were part of. Unless their personality reeked of human, then they would get the worse assumption. He did know a desert meant a lot of sand... so it was surprising for him to hear a tribe survived there. More so he knew there was a civilization there that had survived a while, he just couldn't fathom how.

Ylva would then continue, explaining how they moved below ground to caves beneath the desert. He was familiar with caves, though not underground desert ones. He wondered how they differed, but remained silent for now as he continued listening. She spoke of something called market day, where apparently they would sell things to others outside of the tribe. Leaving Feralis wondering why though he noticed the look in her eyes, guessing it was market day was something she greatly enjoyed. 'Are they not self sufficient?' He wondered to himself. He had no clue was it took to survive underground, but he assumed to be a tribe and live for a while you had to be. He didn't voice this though as he saw her frown and let her continue speaking. She would then mention how they used the water they found to grow everything and would move on, apparently not using dust. That much he could understand at least. His pack had to move whenever prey ran scarce or was in danger of doing so, in order to make sure they would have food for the following season. And to give nature time to replenish itself so they could eventually return to it. Though from the sounds of things, they were most farmers than hunter like him and his pack. The dust mention he did not really question; he never used those things after all, nor did he understand it well.

She would then go quiet as Feralis wondered what to ask her after all that information. Throughout all of it he had merely remained silent, eyes intent on her as she spoke. He was still as relaxed as before, though it was clear he was also thinking of things in his own mind as she spoke and even after. Though it was mostly comparing his life to hers and wondering what to ask her, if anything. He had led a very different life as a lone wolf from what he heard so far, though he didn't know how that tribe acted among themselves. He was almost always used to being alone, unlike her it seemed. She would then giggle, breaking him from his internal thoughts as she would then mention the beauty of the desert at night. He could almost imagine it, if maybe a bit too literally, though his gaze would turn back to the sky as she mentioned it being different in the forest. He could see why, given the trees blocked much of the light and kept the forest in darkness; save the patches where it was open enough to seep through. But to him, the night sky was still beautiful. Even if it was more shrouded and you had to pick your spot well. The small beams of light that did penetrate were something he enjoyed, as he liked the contrast of the dark and light from it. His gaze would travel back to the she-wolf as he would speak with a serious expression on his face. "Hmm... a sea of sand. I'm not sure how anyone could survive there, though I have only ever known Vale; which even then its only been in this forest, the city and Beacon." He would say deciding to freely give that much up without much worry. She had freely given a lot more than him after all. He would pause a moment before continuing. "Though why do you trade with outsiders? I would think a tribe like yours could sustain itself without outside contact. I know I can, though i'm just one wolf." He asked bluntly, curious as to why they would bother. Ideally for him, he would not interact with the world outside his forest. So it made him wonder why they would. There would be another pause as she could respond if she wanted... In which he seemed to be staring intently at her, in thought. Almost as if he was evaluating her again. After a few long moments a toothy smile would cross his lips. "Brook, that is what I shall call you. It means small river. I had been wondering what to call you, and it did not come to me till your story." He would simply say, evidently satisfied with it and not explaining further. He came up with nicknames for everyone, and it was usually self explanatory. Like Princess, Beta, Human. For Ylva though it had taken longer to determine an appropriate one for the she-wolf; it had not come as immediately as the others. But he was satisfied with it given her tribes focus on water, and that it represented her in his mind. Though he would not say the rest of this outloud, finding no need to.

Ylva had seen a slight discomfort when she showed an understanding of loss, so she would look away for a bit. At least to gather her own thoughts and control; she would not let emotion control her, not right now at least. Looking back at him, she smiled kindly. "Nothing wrong with remembering the past. But, we must learn to move forward," The young wolf thought to herself, not realizing he was thinking something similar.

Speaking of home had given her mixed feelings of happiness and sadness. She was still trying to understand it herself. But as she spoke, it was clear that she respected her tribe and their teachings a great deal. His silence throughout it had only encouraged her to speak. Not something she was used to at all. Truth be told, she was used to being one of few words. Hell, she didn't even remember saying this much about it to those of her team. But with the male wolf faunus...he made her feel a comfort she had not felt in a long time. She just hoped he could feel the same with her.

Looking to the male once more as he remarked about survival in the desert, it made her smile slightly.
"Only those that are tough and resourceful find they can. I'm still adjusting to the new sounds and everything here. But I will admit...it is nice to be near waters here," Ylva commented softly. The young wolf then tilted her head slightly as he would pause before continuing. His reply of self-sustaining in her tribe. "fair point to question," She told herself, quieting her more brash side. "We mostly do sustain ourselves. The market days were also good to gather information on the growing Grimm while trading goods as well. It seems they are getting be an issue everywhere," She replied thinking of what her mother once told her.

The wolves were silent for quite some time after that. Looking to the skies, she wondered what could be done now. Hearing his deep voice, she looked to see a smile on his lips.
"Brook," Ylva repeated, trying the pet name on her tongue before smiling in delight. Her tail swayed happily as she thought of its meaning. "I like it," She replied, needing no further explanation. Looking to him, she wondered, but would name him later. For now, she enjoyed the male wolf's company.

As Feralis heard her response about it being only the tough and resourceful that survived, he just lightly nodded his head. It made sense to have survive in such harsh conditions; while the forest became fairly scarce of prey in the winter, that was only one season. Over there he could only imagine the scarcity of prey and ways to hunt beneath the sun. There were no trees, as far as he knew, so no real places to hide. Unless you hid beneath the sand, but with a scorching sun above he wondered how long that kind of strategy would last. 'Probably not the best strategy, but what could you do there? Especially in caves... though perhaps it would be easier to hide and hunt there. But if they lived in caves, how many other things did too?' He mentally cleared his mind of such thoughts for now. Too much random speculation there, and no real point to it. He could always ask more if he really wanted to know after all. Though he may save that for another time. He had already done more talking than he was really used to doing. She would continue speaking, saying how she was adjusting to everything here. 'A forest is much different than a sea of sand.' He thought to himself. It was good to hear she was enjoying it here, at least in terms of the water. She would then answer his question in regards to why they traded at all. 'Ahh, mostly for information.' He noted to himself. So less that they needed to and more to know whats going on. Which made sense given they lived in underground caves. At her mention of them being an issue he could only nod. It was why he had gone back to beacon after so long as well. While they could be handled now, he wanted to not be a liability to his pack.

He heard her repeat his nickname for her, or rather the only name he would call her from this point on, and saw her smile. That, along with her tail swaying, was pretty obvious signs she liked the name. He was slightly surprised by that. He had been expecting her to not accept a new name, why he was unsure, so it was a surprise that she took to it so happily. Even hearing her say she liked it was mildly surprising. Feralis could only manage a slight smile at the fact she liked the name he gave her. Usually the nicknames he gave others were unwanted, so he just enjoyed the fact someone liked one of his nicknames. He never chose them to misrepresent another; he just chose the names he thought fit them the most as far as he knew them. 'Like how omega became beta.' He thought to himself. While the feline cheated, he still ended the fight in a draw with the wolf. So he had earned that rank within the team. The human, despite being the official leader, was more the omega of the group. Princess seemed to be the alpha... whereas Feralis was somewhere between beta and alpha. He pushed those thoughts from his mind for now though. He came out here specifically not to think about school and rather focus on nature. And apparently have a guest for it. Looking towards her, he would speak a bit seriously. "So what happens now? I'll admit your company was unexpectedly... nice. And we are both here for the same reason. Do we part ways now for the rest of our camping, or do we meet again each night till we leave the forest? I shall only be here for a few more days before I return to Beacon, and it shall be spent mostly hunting." He would say, surprisingly more wordy than he was used to. He was genuinely curious though on how this encounter should end. He was not used to being in the company of others in his off time, save MAKO. So he was truly unsure of how to progress with this.

Ylva looked to her wolf companion curiously as she wondered what might be on his mind. Though it would not be surprising if he was only digesting what she had told him thus far. she had told him more than she usually did any other person. "He is a wolf, and I feel I can trust him," The young wolf told herself. She hadn't realized how true that was until she truly thought about it. It surprised her in all honesty.

Her obsidian eyes turned to look towards the male wolf faunus as she thought of the name he had given her. Brook...simple but pretty with a meaning that she took with honor. Her tail wagging still, though slowly, she would see a look of surprise and she wondered why. Tilting her head slightly to the side, she seemed curious. His comment and soon to follow question had her ponder as she looked to the stars, then smile softly and meet his eyes momentarily.
"I like your company as well...but, I should return to my camp for tonight," Ylva replied calmly. Though it was true, she enjoyed being with him, she felt it was time to let the lone wolf have his space. "If fate allows, I shall be happy to see you again, lone wolf." With that said, Ylva stood and bowed slightly before moving to collect her spear where it rested, never looking back as she walked into the shadows.

Feeling she no longer had an enemy, she headed back to her campsite to retire in the tent.
"Sleep well, Feralis," She thought before sleep took her.

Feralis had noted the curious look and head tilt from Brook, but made no motion to explain it. He felt it unnecessary and pointless to explain that she was one of the few who happily accepted their nickname. It was not important, nor did he really feel like talking about it. He watched as, after his question on their association, her eyes turned skyward to the sea of stars. It was something he surprisingly did not have a quick or easy answer to, as it seemed to be the same for her. Which, when he thought of it for a moment, he strangely had those moments a lot with her. 'Weird.' He thought, before pushing such things out of his head. Not everyone made sense after all, nor how you felt about them. Brook and Princess were two prime examples of that. As she turned so their eyes met, soft smile on her face, Feralis would keep her gaze as she spoke. Which was something out of character for her, given she had avoided his for the most part the entire night. He found himself... pleased? He wasn't sure, but it was a nice feeling to know she enjoyed his company as well. Her reply was calm as she continued, saying she would return to her camp. He would merely nod with a slight smile on his face. It made sense for her to return to her camp after all, as they were both out here for their own reasons.

She would then continue by mentioning if fate allowed, she would be happy to see him again... calling him lone wolf. Surprise would briefly flash across his face, not used to being the one receiving a nickname that wasn't an insult. 'Lone wolf... Huh.' He thought, not disliking the title. It did describe him fairly well for now. He actually... liked it a little. Even if he was a pack wolf at times, as a faunus he was a lone wolf his entire life... 'Well, except with MAKO.' He thought, but knew in general that title fit. Brook had been the first to give him a nickname in return... "I wouldn't mind seeing you again, Brook. Next time though, say hi instead of watching from the shadows." He would say in return, not rising from his position as she did. It seemed, by his mind, he was right that wolves truly were the only ones he could get along with. It almost made him eager to see other wolves, though he knew they wouldn't all be like him or her. As Ylva stood and bowed, bit too formal for his tastes, he would offer her a friendly wave goodbye with a toothy smile. She would turn, collect her spear, and leave without looking back. 'She is a strange one, that is for sure. But not in the bad way.' He thought to himself after she was long gone. The next time he came to this forest, he would be sure to try and see if her scent was anywhere near. Feralis would break the fire, preserve the food, and go peacefully to sleep. His mind partially on Brook, and the rest of it on what he would need to do for the few days he would be here. 'I wonder what else this trip holds. Hopefully its more wolves and less cats.' He thought to himself as he faded off to sleep.
