x Asher was running a bit late. He almost skipped the event all together except that his friend had texted him to say they were hanging out inside the venue and if Asher didn't show up he'd be paying for lunch for the company. Asher didn't have the means to pay for lunch for just his floor, let alone the whole company. So the Baphomet ran his butt into the room full of decorated tables.
There were already Nightmares, Daydreams, and hybrids alike making their way to tables. Half the group were already sitting. There was only one table without a date waiting: 3. Asher could only assume it was meant for me.
Asher started to make his way to the table when he noticed a Dryad was heading in the same direction only with a slight favoring of a foot. Must have gotten injured, Asher thought to himself. He continued on to table 3 to meet the Dryad there and saw a torti was making its way to the table too.
He slid into the seat opposite the Dryad who was letting out a very exasperated sigh. "Um, hello... Sorry I'm late. I'm Asher." He glanced down at the torti and gave it a smile. "That one seems to like you although you don't seem to pleased by that... Unless I'm the reason."
Cassandra had been picking at the colorfully-wrapped candies she'd seen, spread haphazardly around the table she was sitting at. She wasn't sure what sort of candy was in them, but she figured she'd pocket something to snack on later, just in case. Maybe they could be used as substitute familiar food in a pinch. She was pretty sure that Fritz would eat anything. Or maybe Wynter would eat Fritz first and she'd have to worry about one less familiar. She sighed, thinking on how she would probably be upset if Wynter ate the Flitterat.
She was pulled out of her thoughts when a chair was pulled out across from her. She looked up to see a Baphomet sitting across from her, introducing himself as Asher. Sitting up, she smiled wearily as he mentioned the torti. "I seem to attract familiars." She held up fingers a finger as she listed her familiar troubles. "I met my Spectrefox, Wynter, at the Winter Solstice festival. Then I managed to get entangled with Fritz, a Flitterat whom Wynter had picked up as well as Sapphy, also courtesy of Wynter, who is a Fennekit. Only I don't know how to manage three familiars, since I'm still trying to put myself through university." She held up a fourth finger and gestured at the torti at her feet, who was looking up at her with an oblivious and hopeful expression upon its face. "Let alone four! I thought leaving Wynter at home would mean that I wouldn't have to worry about attracting any other familiars, but I literally fell over this one and now it won't leave me alone!" She sighed into her hands.
"I don't suppose you happen to be familiar, no pun intended, with familiars?" She asked.
Gale sighed. Love was just not in the cards for him. Unless it was something that could improve his magic, otherwise it was useless to him. Still, he didn't mind that others were distracted by it, just he himself felt no need for such a feeling. "Well all right then. I'd like to see what's around here." Gale replied, giving the other a grin. "Though I observe more than I participate, so just looking is fine with me." He didn't have too much time to be wasting after all. He would have to go back to his studies.
The skyfish on the other hand had moved away from Gale's arm, having been "assaulted" by a twitching nose and had wrapped itself around Gale's head again. If he was able, he would have ripped the skyfish off of his face and stuffed it in that rat-tail's mouth. "Dream? You could say that. I'm able to practice as much magic as I want, usually with no distractions." That was the nice thing about being alone. Sure, it meant that if he wanted someone there for him he didn't have it, but 99% of the time he was too focused on his magic to care. Gale couldn't help but throw back his head and laugh at the other's fear of ghosts. "No, no." Gale said, in-between breaths as he was trying to find his own again.
"Just trying to figure out what's out there. Not all magic can be seen you know. And of course there are things that we just don't understand about this world and how it works and there's no way to see it. It's a very interesting study." And one he was determined to find out, or at least spend his life doing so.
"Yes, it was a simple color-change magic. The candlelight color will return back to normal soon enough. It's very basic magic and easy since it's not permanent nor does it affect a living thing." He said. Magic, while it could be used on living things, unless someone was proficient in it, the results wouldn't be... good. He felt himself being moved in the chair a bit by the pat on the shoulder. The hybrid truly was strong. Gale looked at his shoulder, wondering if it was going to bruise. "I can try to teach you, though if you're proficient enough in cooking already, it's more of an enhancement to whatever you are doing, rather than a complete change." Levitation, heating things up a bit more quickly, etc. All part of the package.

"Daughter, huh? You just got the one kid?" Meloneon asked as he popped another candy into his mouth. These things were good. He snagged another bag of them, pink this time. "I don't have kids." They were noisy, and messy. Not to mention his job was a late night gig. He liked tending bar too much to mess that up with brats he would have to care for himself.
"Vüsala. Nice name. Different. Does it mean anything?" he wondered. Yeah, okay, so maybe he was nosy. This was so not his bag.
Her "date" has not responded to her and she began to feel even more flustered. Not sure what else to do she excused her self and went to get the a drink she was thirsty. Maybe inquire about how to get some candy to from someone who was working there.
(Not sure how to keep going without Jay's response, I know she is busy IRL so I will just make small posts to keep going on my end. No trying to pressure you Jay, I understand!)

"Yes. I adopted Kanda some time ago. She's always pushed me to try to make friends, though it seems her focus has shifted more to try to get me to date people lately." Vüsala let out an exasperated sigh and leaned back in the chair, breaking his almost glare in Kanda's direction. He nodded towards the furiously waving, clearly mutated grimm across the terrace.
"She's a junior now. The one waving." Green eyes flicked between the bags of candy that Meloneon was slowly amassing and the rest of the pile. Perhaps he'd grab one if the conversation came to a still.
"I've been told it means meeting or joining, nothing too exciting. Do kids bother you?" Even if he hadn't planned on being a part of this event, he would just have to do his best and see where things went from here.
x Asher's eyes widened as the Dryad listed the familiars she now owned as well as how they met. It did all seem to be her Spectrefox's fault up until the torti that seemed attached to her. "That is a lot of familiars to have to care for and of varying types too." Asher offered up a sympathetic smile when she sighed.
At the Dryad's question, Asher shook his head. "No, I'm not really. I just have one nezubat at home who I only gained recently. He dropped, quite literally, in on me one night." Asher chuckled, remembering how the nezubat had flown in through an open window and landed on the couch next to him. Initially Asher had tried to chase the thing back out of his apartment, but when it became time for the working baphomet to head to bed, he decided there really wasn't anything the nezubat could destroy so it wasn't worth the hassle.
"Although I'm not really sure I'm the best companion he could have chosen," Asher mused with a worried look. "I tend to work a lot of hours so I don't come home until really late."

Equinox had been day dreaming, he let his eyes wander around the room for someone more to his liking, this one seemed, to sweet, kind, gentle. At least she appeared that way, she wasn’t really his…type. The kind that left him screaming “have a child with me” . She seemed so plain, and this caused his disinterest. When he came back from day dreaming she had gotten up and left the table, to this he frowned. “Come on you can’t give her fifteen minutes?” he whispered under his breath forcing himself to get up.
He wandered over to the drink table behind her. "Hey sorry about that i've had a lot on my mind lately ya kno?" He looked around the room, trying to think of a way to make it up to her. That's when he felt a bump on his foot. It was a little torti looking up at him. "Awh look who has come to join us. I think he likes you"

So Gale did want to hang out! A huge wide spread grin covered the goblin hybrid's face at the idea. "I am looking forward to it!" Just what was he going to show him first? The games like pin the heart on the cherub? The talent show? The tunnel of love? All the goodies like candy floss and tamune? His stomach growled at the thought. Man, why didn't they serve some food to the guests! He didn't want to get up when he was having such a great time with this nightmare!
Buster's smile faltered. He...didn't want to participate? Usually, the body builder was able to accept anything, including something like that. But it was the hunter's jubilee!! A celebration that only happened once a year. He couldn't accept that. "But you must at least play the games and eat all the different sorts of food!" he patted his own stomach. "They only give out cherry covered tarts during this festival!" It would be a crime if he didn't at least have a nibble. One crumb, that was all he was asking.
He was able to live his dream. That was good. His lips upturned into a small grin. "That's good, dude!" But..."What do you do with your magic?" he tilted his head. "Do you do...research?" Was he teacher like one of his lovers? That...that would have been cool. Such a small world, if that was the case.
A huge sigh of relief left him. So he didn't work with ghosts. Which mean, with all hope, that ghosts didn't exist. He wouldn't have to worry about unseen eyes watching him sleep. Whew! "How can some magic be seen?" he scratched his chin in thought. Well, there was levitation. "Is floating objects considered seen?" His brows scrunched up in thought. Maybe. But then, would color change also be considered seen?
Magic was very confusing.
"You're very skilled." he gave him another pat on the shoulder. "I would love to be taught by you!" Whatever made cooking more interesting. He was always up to learning more tricks! Expanding his repertoire was only going to make him a better cook!
Gale waved his hand at the other in protest. "Food I'll partake in. Games I won't, not unless you want me to add something of my own to them." If there wasn't magic involved he didn't care for them. And if he were forced to play a game with no magic involved, he would force some magic in there somehow. "But I'll watch them and cheer you on if you need it." He gave the other a smirk, as though he knew that Buster might have some trouble. He of course wasn't sure, but it would be funny to watch.
"Research, experimentation, trying to find new ways to use it you know." Of course he wouldn't mention that currently he was testing out enchantments and magic on weapons. Something that wasn't allowed but what he had wanted to do anyway. There was a reason they were still there in the world after all. There couldn't be peace forever. Though he doubted it would be on such a large scale as last time.
"Some magic can be seen." He said as he spread his arms, and suddenly between them there was a blue glimmer. What looked to be a thread was between his hands now. "I can show some of it. There's a magic current between my hands and I'm also adding a bit of color and light magic to it so it can be seen." He then snapped one of his fingers and it disappeared. "Most of the time it can't be seen though, but you can see the results of it. However, there are results that others can't see either. That's what I like to read and look out for." He knew how much of their world was controlled by this unseen magic? He wanted to know.
Another pat, and Gale could feel another bruise forming, or perhaps it was the same one just getting worse? "Well then, we should exchange contact information then." Something he was loathe to do, only because it relied on technology, something he didn't use that often. But it was a requirement of the current world, one he couldn't ignore. He got out his phone. "And we can coordinate when we're free and see about those cooking lessons." Maybe he could find a way to feed the skyfish to Pancake when they were together at some point during the lesson. Or he could just fry up the skyfish himself.

Meloneon looked to see where Vüsala gestured to and offered the enthusiastic teen a slight wave. "That's kind of cute," he said. Thoughtful. Hm. Maybe kids weren't so bad.
"It sounds interesting, though. Mine doesn't mean anything," he said with a shrug. Ah. He should have known that question was coming. "It's not that they bother me, I'm just not the right kid of Nightmare for kids, I guess." He was not responsible enough for kids, not really. "They just seem like a lot of work, and it's not something I'm ready for in the least."
Eirlys really felt out of place now, her "date" for this round followed her to the table and was actually talking to her. She had a delicious drink in her hand and had just taken a drink when she felt someone behind her.
She turned to find him standing there he seemed sincere in his words. He was sweet enough to gift her a familar that wandered over towards him.
"I understand I know I am not the best at conversation I just feel out of place alot of the time. Why I love the Winter time, I feel like I belong for once" "Thank you for the cute familiar that was very nice of you. It seems very friendly, I wonder what it's name should be?"

"Knowing that you aren't ready for kids is more than most nightmares are willing to admit. It's better to know your weakness and account for it than to do something you'd end up regretting." Vüsala debated saying anything, but it likely wouldn't hurt to share. "It took me weeks of visits and debate before I decided I would take Kanda home with me. I'm going to school to be a doctor and am a volunteer firefighter, so my schedule is already pretty hectic. Having a kid in my life just upped the ante." Just based on his stance on kids, Vüsala was willing to bet nothing was going to happen between the two of them and relaxed. It was nice getting to talk to another adult in a setting where he didn't have to cater to them or be responsible for their well being.
Off to the side, Kanda spotted a cotton candy machine and took full advantage of it to get herself a nice big stick of it. She grinned when she caught her dad eyeing her, and went to plunk herself down at her table again.
"What sort of things do you do in your spare time?" he asked, flipping his attention back to Meloneon.
Cassandra returned the sympathetic smile with a shy one of her own. "Yeah, it's... it's a lot. Here I thought putting myself through university was enough to handle, little did I know... Heh, heh..." She laughed nervously.
She listened carefully about his nezubat, even though it wouldn't help her personally. "I imagine it must be tricky to try to make sure they get enough attention, between your working hours and also making sure that you're doing enough for you." She remarked. "Well, hopefully we'll both get ourselves sorted one way or another to accommodate for our companions." She said, trying to sound optimistic, despite her typical pessimistic outlook. She was trying to make friends, after all, not scare them away.
"Where do you work?" She asked, picking at some more candies from the table to pocket.
Buster slumped in his seat. "Alright, alright." He nodded, one of his big claws scratching at his chin. He could deal with that. That was fine. "I'll make sure you eat the best food to your hearts content!" He chuckled, eyes glinting in delight. "Of course you can add something of your own! You would be the one playing them!" Each one had their own playing style. Buster knew that he liked to lick his lips before he threw a bowling ball or tried to make a shot. It only made sense. He hummed out a laugh, his eyes twinkling in delight. "But I do like an audience." He always had. His ego couldn't get enough boosting.
The mention of experiments and research made his eyes go wide. He knew Gale was smart, but he must have been really really smart. A true master in magic. "W-what have you figured out?" he tilted his head, still awestruck. How did one even experiment and do research on the unseen? He was going to ask but that...was probably a loaded question. It was best to talk about that after the Hunter's Jubilee.
Buster couldn't help the gasp that left his lips at the sight of the blue glimmer. Even Pancake, who had been disinterested in the conversation, seemed to turn his head and take a peek...before he tried to take a snap of the blue energy. Completely missing, of course. "That's so cool!" Buster leaned forward. The blue glimmer wasn't there anymore but still..a current? "So it's like the ocean?" That---that had currents. He wasn't sure if anything else did. All that he owned was run by magic. He didn't realize that the currents could be seen though! "You--you're like a god." Doing so much magic at once..he had to be.
Awestruck, Buster leaned back in his seat. "How...do you know that there are consequences when you can't see them?" The idea baffled him. Were people doing magic without knowing? Was he doing a bit of magic without knowing? The shade could see how Gale went into this research. It really was some fascinating stuff.
Exchanging contact information, why didn't Buster think of that? "Yes, that sounds great!" The man fished out his own phone and, after swiping up to unlock it, slid it over. "Feel free to call me anytime." he gushed,clutching his claws together. "I have a very open schedule." The joys of still going to school and having flexible hours.
