Hunter's Jubilee is a time to celebrate love and connections. Whether it be platonic or romantic, all relationships are celebrated during this affectionate time.
Some of the staff have decided to set up a speed dating area where students of the academy, university students, and graduated adults can come and mingle. The teachers figured it'd be a good way to get some of the younger kids out of their comfort zone, and if nothing else, maybe people would make new friends!
Due to the potential romantic nature of the event, Freshlings are not allowed in this area.
University students and graduated adults are invited to attend!
**THOSE WHO DID NOT ENTER THE EVENT CAN STILL ROLL AND RP FOR THE TRINKETS!**
How this works:
Fill out the form below for ONE of your Nightmares/Daydreams. You may only enter one kid in this event, and it must be a Junior or older. At the beginning of each week, you will be randomly paired with someone else. Whether it's a romantic match, or you just have a friendly exchange, we ask that you interact with the person you'll be matched with! We'll be doing matches 2-3 times this month just in case people become inactive or the RP needs to be freshened up. Every day you are allowed to roll for each of your Nightmares/Daydreams to receive a trinket or plushie! However, you must RP your character receiving their prize, or doing something in the festival when you roll. It's suggested that while you can roll for every Nightmare you have, you only roll for the amount of responses you can handle! You can keep rolls in one post, or in individual posts. Roll a 20-sided die per Nightmare you're including in the ORP! If you roll an odd number, you may grab a trinket! If you roll a 5, 10, 15, or 20, you can grab a familiar instead. You should tally your points each day. At the end of the event, those who signed up in the Speed Dating Sign-Ups will be eligible to win the grand prize. You must label in your posts how many points you have. If you don't you will not be counted for the grand prize. Do not delete posts. We will disqualify you from the chance to win the Grand Prize if you do! You may RP quests! If you lack a Nightmare/Daydream you are allowed to RP an approved quest within this game! If you have more then one quest, you are permitted three quests to play in this game. You are encouraged to create creative situations of your character receiving a prize! Characters may trade prizes without losing points! Only take one prize per each roll!
Rules:
This contest is completely free. Please use the form provided. Anyone may enter, whether they are a newbie or not! Staff MAY enter this contest! However, they cannot win the grand prize. Whining, guilt-tripping, or generally misbehaving over the contest will result in you being disqualified. Make sure you've read the Guide to the Worlds forum in its entirety! You may not gift or trade prizes from this event. You may not proxy for another person.
Trinkets!:
Looks like all the garbage candy came to the speed dating room... mmm, just like Grandma has in her candy bowl!
At least there's a self-serve cotton candy machine. Why would any adult need this much sugar?
These chocolate balls are flavored like raspberry and... something you can't quite put your finger on.
Familiars:
These torti are slowly moving around the room, making friends everywhere they go!
The skyfish poke you gently with their faces, trying to show you to the true love of your life. Or maybe just the snack bar.

You have been paired with a "date" for the start of Speed Dating! The couples are placed at little tables with bright, crinkly decorations in the middle, and a timer is set for 15 minutes. Good luck, and have fun!
Next update will be February 17! Sorry for the late start!
Gale had dressed a bit up for this evening. He had worn a nice cloak, tunic, and had decided to wear the pants that didn't have any holes in them, adding a little magic to them and he was bound to be the best around. Or at least he would stand out the most. Either was fine with him!
He wasn't really hoping to find his "true love" here or anything like that, but he did want to go and see who the singles were. Perhaps he could hook up with one later. When he had arrived he was directed to his assigned table, and just as he had been about to sit a skyfish wandered by and decided that his head would be great for sleeping on and snuggled itself on him.
Gale tried to get the creature off, but it was almost as though it was stuck to his hair with glue! And while he was trying to gently pry it off, so that his poor hair would stay in-tact, he didn't notice the other occupant of the table arriving. His first speed-dating partner.

Sorry about that! Wanted to make sure I got a post in for today!
Buster was nervous. Not for the other person that he was about to talk to, no. Rather, he was nervous about what his tail Pancake would do. The mouse like tail had ruined plenty of dates before in the past...
All over food.
Fortunately, his first match was far away from the snack table. No way was his tail going to get a delicious bite of anything that they were serving. He wasn't that long. And it wasn't like he could drag him out of his seat.
His dark brown eyes focused on the paper before him intensely. Table 9, 10... "Table...11. Oh, hello!" He beamed at the other person at the table, giving a hearty wave of his hand. Experience had shown him that fist bumping in introduction to a stranger was not liked by all. "I'm Buster. What's up man?" he sat down in the seat opposite of Galen, his cheeks dimpled in a large smile. Pancake, however; took interest in the skyfish that had also decided to linger at the table, sniffing at them.
Oh dieties, Buster hoped Pancake wouldn't try to take a bite.

Meloneon sauntered over to the table he had been assigned to and slid into the chair. He hadn't particularly dressed up for this, but he did add a dark pink tie and left his apron at home. He hoped the drinks were good at least.
Signing up for this had been a spur of the moment, feeling lonely around Hunter's Jubilee thing. Now he felt almost stupid for doing it. Well, at least he could try to have fun, right?
"So...how's your night going so far?" he asked of the Nightmare across from him, a sideways smile on his face. So lame. But it could at least get a conversation started. Maybe. Depended on how talkative this Nightmare was. "I'm Meloneon, by the way."
Eirlys was nervous, she has never been on a blind date before but she wanted to meet new people and she figured this would be a fun and safe way to do so.
Before entering the place she had fiddled with her appearance for hours, worrying she would not look attractive to her pespective partner. Sighing after trying on countless outfits she just went with her usual style.
Taking a deep breath she entered and looked about for the table with her name by the place setting. Walking over slowly she was stunned to see a beautiful blue nightmare sitting there but what really caught her attention was that tail! It was gorgeous! Not wanting to appear rude she turned her eyes to the nightmare sitting there and said "Hello, I am Eirlys nice to meet you? May I ask your name? as she pulled out the chair to sit down to chat.

Equinox was pumped for these speed dating. Not that he took it seriously, he didn't take anything seriously. He didn't really think this whole love thing was a big deal but boooy did he love being a charmer. Going on as many dates as possible seemed like an exciting thing. He had made it to the table first, and let out a toothy shark smile. Good, now he could watch the door.
Nox Stood up from his chair when approached, Burce peeked around from behind him and let out what could only be considered a catcall. "I'm sorry please ignore him, he... does that" I'm Equinox, but everyone just calls me Nox. He attempted to reach out and grab the chair for her but she had already gotten it. So instead he sit at the table and smiled. "You come here often?"
No matter what he did, the skyfish had apparently decided that it wanted to hang around him tonight, and all Gale could do was sigh a dramatically at the fate that had befallen him. After he finally stopped trying to make the floating creature go away, Gale got a good look at his first speed-dating partner of the night. Uneven... but the coloring is on point. He thought to himself but outwardly gave the hybrid a smile. "Hmm, nothing much with me. I just wanted to check out what the fuss was all about here." He noticed Buster's tail sniff the skyfish. Gale was silently hoping that the tail would eat the creature, then he wouldn't have it sticking around him.
But the tail looked like some sort of... rodent. Hamster, mouse, or something perhaps? Did they eat bugs? Or fish? He didn't know but he was curious as to how shade tails worked.
That was not something that would be talked about tonight though. "I'm Gale. I'm a Leviathan Graduate that likes to dabble in a bit of magic here and there. What about you?" He said the first part with a wave of his hand. He knew that not everyone was cut out or even wanted to use magic, which was a good thing. Not everyone could be a master of magic, then everything else would be neglected. But as this was speed "dating" the point of it was to learn about the other partner, and he truly was curious.
This was perhaps the one occasion that Cassandra didn't have her Spectrefox, Wynter, with her. Wynter, after the trouble the spectral vixen had caused at the Hunter's Jubilee festivities earlier (earning her the company of an unhappy Flitterat and a Fennekit, dubbed Fritz and Sapphy respectively) was on house arrest.
Cassandra had finally struck out on her own, deciding that she needed the company of a fellow Nightmare or Daydream, and hopefully one that could help her figure out a way to manage her plethora of familiars. It was as though familiars off all shapes and sizes seemed to flock to her, whether she liked it or not. She'd inwardly groaned at the thought of having to find a career that would pay for all of them. But today, she didn't have to worry about familiars. Today she just had to worry about making her way to Table 3 so she could meet someone new-
"W-WOAH!" She exclaimed as her foot caught on something and she tumbled down to the floor with a clamor. Her ankle was sore, but when she looked back to see what she'd tripped on, she let out an audible groan. It was another familiar, this one a torti. It had ducked its head initially, but now was turning to look at her, with a smile on its face.
"Oh, sorry, nope." Cassandra said, getting to her feet. Her ankle smarted, but she saw a table with a giant sparkly pink 3 marking it as her table and headed towards it. "Nope. Nope. Not another one. Not today."
But she heard the slow footsteps of scaled feet on the floor. She knew it was coming towards her. She put her head down on the table with a loud sigh of exasperation as the torti nudged her with its head.
"Fiiiine." She was such a friggin' pushover. How was she going to manage all of these familiars?
What was the fuss? Buster gave a hearty, boisterous laugh that was sure to stop other guests and turn his way. That was easy! "They're here for the hunter's jubilee!" He wiped a stray tear that had come from his eye with one of his claws. How funny. Well, there was a first time for everything. He was sure that there were a few places in above and below that didn't have the Hunter's Jubilee. But hearing it was just so---weird! "Are you having fun? I can show you some cool things to do afterwards!" The love boat ride flashed in his mind, making him blush. It wasn't the fact that couples went in to be couple-y. It was more of the fact that he went to see the little story that played out. It was new each year, giving him something to always look forward to.
Oh, where was his manners! "Nice to meet you! I'm Buster, and this big guy," he gestured over towards his rat tail who was still trying to take a nibble out of the sky fish, "is pancake!" At the sound of his name, the shade tail swiveled around, his whiskers twitching. "Magic, man. You must be really talented." The male leaned back in his chair, it creaking at the weight and stared in awe. The last time he did magic was for a class and, well, let's just say he was happy that the teacher didn't fail him for singing their hair. "I'm a body builder and a cook!" The edges of Buster's eyes crinkled as he smiled. He really was living the dream.
"Pleasure to meet you Nox. And no I do not come here often, I am usually sitting in my room daydreaming about the Winter time" she said in a rush.
Flustered she began wringing her hands and realized it and moved them to her lap. She was so nervous and had no idea what to say. It seemed so much easier when she was out among the cold, walking and singing carols and others would join her in the warm camaradie. Smiles all around and honestly she felt like she belonged and could make a connection with someone. But here? She literally felt like she was out of place and season.
Casting her eyes around the room quickly she spotted some candy and was debating on getting up to get some.

Well, this was fun. Meloneon sighed and sat back in his chair. Why come to this if you weren't going to be present? "Hellooooo?" he said and waved his hands in front of the other Nightmare's face.
Man, fifteen minutes could not end fast enough. At least there was chocolate. It was his weakness. He grabbed a greenish looking bag and unwrapped a candy, popping it in his mouth. Hm. Chocolate, raspberry, and... He had no idea. Which was weird. He prided himself on knowing flavors. (The better to make his drinks.) It was some kind of fruit, at least.
"Hunter's Jubilee?" Gale asked, eyebrow raising. So that's what all of this fuss was? He thought he had heard about it before. That it was some kind of... celebration of love or such thing. How... frivolous. It seemed like such a waste. But, there were those who seemed to be obsessed with finding some sort of mate. He supposed there was a celebration for just about anything.
"If there's time. I would like to learn more about all of this." It was something he hadn't paid any attention to. He had been focused on perfecting his magic, not chasing after such flimsy things as love. "Buster and Pancake then..." Gale gave a nod to the tail, though wondered if the tail was the one that chose it's name. Weren't silly names supposed to be for pets? Gale still silently cheered it on about eating the skyfish that had now decided to wrap it's tail around his arm. He had tried several times to slid it off, but somehow it was as though it's scales were hooks, and no amount of pushing was going to make this skyfish go away.
Another eyebrow was raised. "Bodybuilder and cook? Well, being able to create your own meals is always a good thing." He supposed the two of them went hand in hand. And with the tail being named pancake, the latter occupation was a surprise. He didn't quite know what a bodybuilder would be able to do, but he supposed that some had to do it. He was glad that he wasn't one of those people. "Well everyone has a dream, glad that you're able to do yours." Gale replied, setting his hands down in front of them, before opening one of them to create a small ball of red light. "I'm much more interested in the... unseen." He said, before flicking the light at one of the candles on the table, turning it from a gold glow to a red one. "I'm at a total loss when it comes to more physical things. Cooking? Unless I can use magic, I'm terrible at it."
Buster couldn't help the chuckle that left his lips once again. "Yes, the celebration of love of all types! Friendships, family, lovers." He sighed wistfully, dreaming about his own two lovers and their children. If only they came today with him...Oh well! He was able to make a new friend today to share the joy and fun with!
"The night is still young!" he beamed, Pancake squeaking in an agreement. There was still so much to do, so much to see...he could never get to it all during each hunter's jubilee. But he still tried to get to most of it. "I can show you around afterwards!" he stuck his thumb towards his fit chest. "I'd love to! Been going since I was this small." he gestured towards the ground. It wasn't like he was an expert, but he liked to view himself as quite experienced!
"It is! But I like feeding others and seeing the joy on their face. Pancake is a bit of a glutton himself. Bottomless pit." He chuckled and watched his tail warily as they tried nudging the skyfish with their nose. "I'm sorry for my nosey friend." Buster shook his head and tried to push the insistent Pancake away from the skyfish. "Are you living your dream?"
What was...the unseen. "Like ghosts?" A shudder went down his spine. Geists were fine. But g-g-ghosts had him scared. There was a quiver in his hands but he tried to show that he definitely, was not, completely freaked out by what can't be seen. "Can you...see what can't be seen?" He let out slowly, curious. Were there people like that?
All thought stopped when a light changed color. "Whoa." His mystified gaze went to the other male. "Did you do that?!" Or was that a ghost? He hoped not. "I don't know anything about magic! You'll have to teach me about magical cooking!" Buster patted Gale's shoulder. That sounded like a great idea!

When Vüsala had told Kanda that she was free to participate in the Hunter's Jubilee events, he had meant for her to do so, not for her to sign him up for something! Unfortunately it was too late for him to back out. That'd be rude to both those holding the event and especially for those he was paired with.
His 'date', he winced to use the word, had already slid into one of the two chairs so he perched in the other one. Doing his best not to glare daggers at his adopted daughter who was peering unabashedly at them from one of the unoccupied tables, Vüsala blinked at the hand in his face.
Giving the kumiho a tight smile, Vüsala focused on the nightmare across from him.
"I wouldn't say it has been going as I had expected it to." It wasn't necessarily negative, though it'd probably be taken that way. "I'm Vüsala. Nice to make your acquaintance." A clawed hand extended to shake Meloneon's. "Apologies, but I'd expected my daughter to be one of the. . . to be doing this, not myself."

that's quite alright, Vüsala has more on his mind than his partner for the moment xD
