User ImageCharacter: Clare
Current Square: 1 to 2
Response: Clare watched the teams split into groups and head towards their locations, nervously playing with her hair as they began to disappear from view. This was a mistake. What if they got lost? Why would she split them up like this? They could have just been more thorough and moved as a group... sure it would take longer but... With a sigh she turned away, knowing they hadn't had much choice. It had already been so long since Peter went missing, she couldn't waste a single second. Finally taking a moment to see where she was headed, Clare let out an audible gasp. It was beautiful! So many colours, so many different flowers, it was a paradise.
'This is why people never come back from here, they don't want to leave!' She thought in awe. She was confident now they'd find something to do with Dr. Horn - he would never pass up an opportunity to look at potentially new specimens.

Clare hovered around the edge of the meadows for a while, ushering people along and making sure everyone had their own supplies. She may not be able to look after the whole expedition team, but at least she could keep an eye on anyone who'd come this way. She laughed and waved to Cyan who had rushed ahead - clearly she was all business now. She stood watching Cyan for a few moments, entranced by her movements, when someone talking to her snapped her out of it. It was a grimm she hadn't seen on the carriage, but she remembered her from sign ups.
"It's Sierra, right? Lovely to see you again," she greeted, amazed that she had been able to remember most people's names. She listened to Sierra's questions with a soft smile, trying not to let her worries show on her face. "Yes well, I suppose in our field we just want to find new things. New cultures. I imagine he would have wanted to head towards anything that resembled some sort of civilisation but... well, potential discoveries of new flora is always a bonus," she added, gesturing at the seemingly-endless expanse of flowers around them.

Clare hung back for a few more moments, before finally following Cyan and Sierra. She wanted to wait and see that everyone was okay but - and she found this difficult to admit - their safety wasn't the point. She needed to find Peter, and they were all here to do that too. Every second she wasted being anxious was a disservice to the mission... and to him.

Current Square: 1 to 2
Response: "I came from the carriage," she snorted softly and smiled, laughing a little when his hair flew around his head as he turned around. "Losing your touch? What touch would that be?" she asked him. She thought about his answer to her first question and shrugged. "I suppose it makes sense," she murmured, crouching to take a closer look at the flowers. There had to be some kind of clue somewhere around here, right? Hopefully they would be able to find enough to locate this Dr. Horn dude. Since... that was the whole reason they were all out here.

If she were honest with herself, she kind of hoped things got a little more interesting. Maybe a little more dangerous? She cut her gear-shaped eyes toward the Nightmare with the hair and smirked. He looked like he could be a little dangerous...

Nope. Stop. Totally not why she was here. Bad Raspbina.

Character: Sierra
Current Square: 2 to 7
Response:She listened politely to Clare who seemed to have very little to say about the missing Dr. So bending down to look among the yellow flowers she heard a distinctive pitter pat and squeak combo- looking farther down she saw the flitterats playing amonst the yellow blooms! She gave a soft child like gasp of enjoyment as she observed….and watched one stop and sniff the air, spin to catch her attentions and point Northward.” Well bless my soul, I think this little one wants me to follow it……….is that right Precious?” At a squeak from the rat she laughed softly. Apparently Precious had definite opinions! Sierra was so enamoured that she didn’t even think that the animal was acting out of character so deep in her persona was she. “ Well its not like I have anything better to go on sooo……”gently she stooped to run a finger down the flitterats back, and was pleasently surprised when the animal responded by stretching and running up her arm to perch on her shoulder amongst her hair.

With a little squeak and a nod ot the north it was settled. “Northward we go then!” She looked around sheepishly to see if anyone had taken much notice of her talking to the little creature. She’d gotten so distracted by her new little friend she forgot to continue pumping hte Professor for info and instead headed off the way her new companion gestured.

This could prove to be a rewarding little outting- but taking a step forwards she narrowly missed stubbing her paw on a rock and quickly she looked back down. “*get a grip Sierra! This is a dangerous new area and just becuase one flitrat likes you is no reason to forget all your training*” She mentally berated herself….while one hand absently stroked the familiar.

Beautiful, brightly coloured flowers cover the ground to the horizon. You could get lost in that view, if only you weren't interrupted by soft pitter-patters. Playing in a patch of yellow flowers are a family of flitterats, some chasing one another while others snuggle up to rest. It is truly an adorable scene, only made cuter when one of the flitterats approaches you and spins in circles before pointing its nose forward. It wants to adventure with you!

Near where the meadows meet the plains, you find a piece of paper laid on some flowers. It's part of Dr Horn’s expedition journal; the wind must have carried it here.

"Day Eleven. Thank the Nine I came to explore this area! I could spend days examining these flowers - in fact, I might do just that. The others think it's a waste of time, but what could be more valuable than discovering new species of flora? What if they have medicinal or magical properties? This one field of flowers could advance science by countless years. So what if someone gets a few allergies along the way?"

Character: Coralynne
Current Square: 11 to 12
Response: “A Clue!!” Coralynne shouted with glee. Hopping for one foot to the other, Coralynne was so proud that she had found a clue. She hadn’t ever really done anything on her own before let alone accomplished a task on her own. Now she had found the first clue as far as she could tell. Reading it to herself she wasn’t to sure where the Doctor might have headed but it was a start.

After she finished reading the note, she totally agreed that some of these flowers could have a medical and/or healing attribute to them. Form the bag she was caring, Coralynne pulled out a couple of plastic zip lock bags. Pick some of the yellow ones she placed them into one bag. Then she picked some of the pink one and repeated this process until very color flower was in a bag. Coralynne then pulled a medium size tupperware dish form her bag and very nettle she placed the bag of flowers one on top of the other. Snapping the lid back onto the dish, she placed the dish back in her bag.

Well time to mover form here, she said to herself. Pushing up form the ground and brushing the peddles and earth form legs, she looks around yet again to see where others were at. No one was near her yet but that could change as she progressed through the meadow. She had searched all the of the parts of the grid she was currently standing in and found her first clue. Sticking with her strategical plan form the last grid. The zig zag idea seemed to be a good idea, so Coralynne moved to the right of her current patch. Not wanting to mess with a good thing she started to search the same way she had in the last two. Starting at the top of the flowers and moving down to the earth below was a lot of work but she new it was the only way to find what needed to be found.

Character: Cyan
Current Square: 3 to 4
Response:

As Cyan continued to search the wildflowers with their new family pet in their arms, the hybrid spotted some pages scattered on the ground. In such an untouched place it seemed so very out of place. Was it a clue?

Cyan encouraged Honey (yes, she had named the creature Honey) on to her shoulder and darted forward, gathering up the pages so they didn't get caught on the wind. In Cyan's rush to keep the pages from disappearing she had barely noticed something slip out between the pages.

"Clare!" Cyan called out to the hybrid traveling behind her, but Cyan soon regretted opening her mouth. Gritting her teeth Cyan flipped each of the pages over, brows pinching together.

Blank, blank, BLANK!

"Ugh! Nevermind ... " It wasn't entirely nothing. What were blank pages doing in the middle of a field of flowers? The only people around for miles were the members of the search party. Was it worth bringing up the pages to Clare?

Yah, maybe it was. Every piece counted.

Honey had become focused on something on the ground, squeaking away to get Cyan's attention. At first, Cyan's thoughts were too loud to hear the squeaking, but the eventually they broke through. In her annoyance Cyan looked over her shoulder, spotting the flitterat's noise wiggling rapidly. The flitterat had lead her here to this spot, so maybe she should follow the creature's gaze.

There on the ground were three delicately pressed, dried flowers. Cyan blinked. Were these also a clue? Who pressed flowers between blank pages.

"Hey ... actually. Clare ... was he a fan of pressed flowers?" Cyan got to her feet, delicately picking up the flowers from the ground.

It's all linked ...

Oh, wait. Clare was actually way further behind then Cyan thought. Maybe she couldn't hear her after all ...

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Character: Devon
Current Square: 1 to 2
Response: Finally. They were free of the carriage. Devon sighed deeply in relief, stretching their legs as they walked through the flowers. Being stuck in that cramped space, with so many people and so much socializing… It had been exhausting. They probably spoke more in that week than they had in a month. How do people manage that?

Most people seemed to be heading out ahead of them. This was all fine by them, they were never that athletic and running off well... didn't really interest them that much. Besides, if everyone was in front of them, it might be a little easier for them to keep an eye on everyone and be more prepared for anything strange that might happen. With that thought, their hand instinctively traveled down to his leather messenger style bag that rest against their hip. Fully stocked with an array of medical supplies, it hopefully had everything that was needed for any injuries that might happen. Of course, you could never be prepared for everything- which was its own terrifying thing to think about…

This place was lovely, they did have to grant it that. They were never one for the outdoors, but they could see how sights like this could grow on someone. The flowers and grass swaying in the soft breeze was almost mesmerizing. Too bad they were here on a professional basis, otherwise they might take a seat just watch the scenery.

As they walked, they spotted the professor who had organized the expedition. They nodded to themselves. It would probably be prudent for them to meet up with her, wouldn't it? They moved faster, in hopes of catching up. “Professor Honeymint, hello.” Greeting complete. Did that count as fulfilling professional courtesy?

User ImageCharacter: Clare
Current Square: 2 to 7
Response: Even though she was searching for clues, Clare's gaze kept wandering over the horizon, trying to make sure she could spot everyone. Already, their group had become so scattered - she could have sworn Coralynne came with them, but she couldn't even see her. Biting her lip, she stared into the distance. No one seemed hurt yet, but what about all the other areas? Her train of worries was interrupted by soft sounds at her feet. She looked down quickly, expecting some sort of threat. She couldn't help but let out a giggle when she realised it was just a family of playful flitterats.
"How interesting, they have you guys up here too, huh?" she cooed, squatting so she could reach a hand out to the playful creatures. One of the smaller critters scurried towards her, running in circles and pointing confidently towards the distant treeline.

Clare looked at it curiously, brow furrowing, when she heard her name. She shot upright in a flash, desperately scanning the area. Someone was in trouble! Her heart racing, she looked towards the voice, and there in the distance was... Cyan? There was a book in her hand - could it be important? She wasn't rushing over to show her, so perhaps it could wait until they reconvened. Smiling, she gestured towards the distant treeline.
"I'm heading that way! Meet me there later!" She shouted. Grinning at Cyan, she almost didn't notice the small touch on her hoof. It was the adorable flitterat, pawing at Clare to get her attention. Her heart melting, she quickly lifted the familiar and placed it delicately on Milky's head. "You can hang back here and get a great view, cutie," she suggested with a giggle. The flitterat certainly seemed please with its new perch, and Clare's tail was happy to give it a ride.

Hearing her name again, Clare quickly spun around to face... Devon, that was their name! Quickly replacing her face of shock with a warm smile, she wandered towards them.
"Hi, it's Devon right?" She greeted with a small wave. "I hope you're ready to explore! I'm heading further into the meadows - I haven't really had a proper chance to search this area, though. Mind having a look around while go a bit further ahead? I'll meet you there," She suggested, gesturing towards the direction she was heading. They all had to cover as much ground as quickly as possible, after all.

Character: Sierra
Current Square: 7 (not moving in this post)
Response: Sierra felt simply wonderful, she found herself swaying her way among the flowers practically dancing. The way the dirt was so cool under her paws, the air filled with sweet scents and the warmth of the breeze dancing through her fur and the small chirping squeaks of the Precious in her ear. She was a graduate of Leviathan and not Grendel and so singing wasnt as much her thing……...but she felt as thought she could simply open up her muzzle and let loose a song……. Everything was just so perfect. She took a big deep inhale. Then paused. Her head tilted to the side as she looked down...and found herself standing in a patch of yellow flowers. Slowly, as though moving through a fog puzzle pieces clicked into place. She had studied the properties of herbs and how they could be used in potions and medicinally. And some plants could simply cause “Euphoria”. Which seemed an especially good word for how she was feeling now. Precious had been playing in a patch of the yellow flowers and had approached her with no hesitation at all. And She, Sierra Raylene, felt like singing. This was not right. Reaching down she plucked a few of the yellow blossoms and placed them inside the pages of a book she had brought, and one into a specimin vial.

Then she took herself firmly in hand mentally and turned around, looking for the professor. Who happened to be walking up behind her. Quickly she moved outand down to intercept her coming close enough to be heard “Professor Honeymint, a word if you please…..” and waited for the Shade to come closer. Once with in conversing range she quickly told her about her suspicions of the yellow flowers.

Response: Clare was still smiling at Devon when she heard her name being called once more. Every time someone said her name, her heart froze - what if it was because they were in danger? Quickly turning to run towards the source, she let out a small groan of relief as Sierra came into view. She didn't seem hurt, although her expression was certainly concerned.
"Sierra, hello again!" She called, hoping her voice would travel across the meadow. "Have you found something?" The grimm seemed so serious... what if they'd found something terrible? Clare tried to keep those thoughts away - Peter would be safe. He would be.

Character: Coralynne
Current Square: 12 to 17
Response: After much searching in this grid, Coralynne stood straight up from her bent position. Her back was aching more then ever. The clue from the last grid had given her the burst of energy she needed though more on to the next grid. She was feeling that enthusiasm now though. Stretching this way and that, she tried to work the tension out of her muscle. As she twisted to the left, she noticed something fluttering in the wind.

Going over the fluttering item she found a well pressed piece of parchment with some flowers she had gathered in the last grid. From the clue she had found she assumed it was from the Doctor. After all he believed the flowers could be helpful and have some healing attributes. Pulling out a note book from her bag, Coralynne adds the page to it for safe keeping and replaces in back in her bag.

Coralynne begins stretching some more to loosen her back muscles up a little more. As she looked around, she notices that she was once again not alone in the grid she had been work. Strang I hadn’t seen anyone else or even heard them, she though to herself. Before her was a Grimm. Who was hard at work. The Grimm was powder pale blue and was wearing a cute pale purple flower dress. If this Grimm laid in the flowers she would blind in very nicely, Coralynne though silently. The Grimm was walking very carefully through the flowers. Maybe that is why you didn’t hear her?, Coralynne’s always so help muse chimed in. “Hello”, Coralynne said with a wave but didn’t add much more to the conversation. Picking a new direction, Coralynne moved to her next grid. This time she moved upward in her zig zag pattern. Crouching down to her knees, in an attempt to give her back a rest, she began her search in the new grid.

Character: Lycos
Current Square: 2 to 7
Response:

As if to simply be obstinate, Lycos flicked their ear right before the shot could be take, the poor ladybug being flung off into the flowers again (yeet). That ladybug was probably having a good day, and Lycos simply made it better by giving it a head start in a nice flight into the next flower patch is all.

But it was as if they and their twin were destined to be surrounded by critters, and no sooner did Lycos rid themself of the crawlie did a flitterat now approach them. It was cute, in a way, and Lycos couldn't bring themself to ignore the way it decided to burrow into their tail-fur and make itself cozy. Even when Lycos gently picked the little ball of fluff up to nudge it back to it's family, the little one kept skittering back.

Well, this adventure was already promising to be a good one, no matter what happened in the end, so...maybe it had a nose for adventure? And woe be Lycos to deny a cute lil critter some adventure.

Back to the hybrid's question though, Lycos turned their attention back just in time to catch that...display, or whatever that was, wrinkling their nose in probable distaste. But, what was that saying? Something about more eyes being able to help find things a lot easier? They and Latros had eight eyes...so, maybe ten eyes would make it better and easier?

"Okay, but you're not allowed to find anything before us." Lycos stated simply and, to them, firmly, though their voice was still as playful as ever. "We're getting those degrees."

Alice starred at the ground. She had never seen so many flowers before. There was no way she could collect a sample of each of them. Well, what her father didnt know couldn't hurt her. Taking out her spell book she decided to pick a few of the more unique looking flowers and pressed them between the pages before putting it back in her bag. Good keep sakes if nothing else. She looked around and noticed the wide spread of people, if she didn't keep up she might be left alone. At least if she was abandoned the parked cart was nearby.

Alice sighed. She clearly wasn't doing to good of a job pretending like she belonged here seeing as she was standing with the nearest person many feet away. She noticed a couple people were heading off to the field on her left so perhaps that would be a good place to start. As she shuffled in that direction she took a moment to wonder why she was even here. She could've gotten off the cart once out of eye sight and hide out in a motel until the trip was over then tell her father there wasn't anything there he could use. No plants for potions or charms. No creatures for his act. No untold riches he could exploit. But doing all that would've meant disobeying him and she knew better than to do that. Starting to get lost in her own head she didn't notice the dip in the meadow and tripped. Head over heels Alice fell flat onto her face into a pile of flowers which surprisingly did nothing to cushion the impact of the ground. "Ow..."
