It seemed her bullet had struck home taking the kill shot, though the way the Lancer had been looking it would have died anyway...eventually. Even with her headshot, it continued to twitch for several more moments as Tessa's drill round buried into it. Azura chalked that up to reflexes, much like how a bug would continue to twitch, sometimes for several minutes, after it was dead. She let out a small breath of relief as the insect grimm finally dissolved into dust, knowing Koryn was out of immediate danger. A hand touched her shoulder and Azura glanced at Cecil for a moment, before returning her eyes to the scene unfolding in front of her. Despite the crisis a slight smile managed to form on her lips, as she rested Crimson Regret against her shoulder so the barrel was pointed skywards. She wasn't sure who was worse about ice cream, Adam or Cecil. "Ice cream sounds lovely, and I'm not sure Tessa will still be available for your... competition." She answered softly.
Professor Anderson was calling Tessa out, but instead of accepting the Professor's authority the Rhino was puffing up her chest as if she was about to get into a shouting match, or perhaps a fist fight with the Professor. Luckily it didn't come to that, though a frown replaced her slight smile. "It's like she doesn't even care that Koyrn's been injured." She commented as she watched Tessa walk over to where the Lance had been fallen rather than to where Koyrn was, then over to the bleachers to sulk after she had retrieved the drill round. Azura stood out of the way because too many people crowding around often made things worse, making it difficult to treat the victim, but if it had been her teammate she'd be over there in a heartbeat. At least the other team had the snake contained and none of them seemed injured yet. Following Professor Anderson's orders, the arena started to clear out, the health helping the injured. With a push of a button, Azura transformed Crimson Regret back into its storage form and tucked it away. "Should we wait, or go with the rest?" She asked Cecil.
Eira head fell as she let out a heavy sigh. This was a s**t show. A disaster that even pissed off their teacher. A team member injured by friendly fire, their target now dissolving away into black granules as a kill for another team, and Tessa didn't even pay her a single bit of attention. Just pushing past her to get the shell she expended at the Lancer. She even looked like she was about to attack the teacher for getting to close to her while she was chewing her out. Eira crossed her arms over under her bosom to hug herself. Squeezing each arm tight to try an suppress the quiver of her own anger and disappointment. Eventually her arms fell back to her sides and she let out another sigh. Her blue eyes settling on Koryn with a sad look as she watched the others picking her up now to take her to the infirmary. "If this keeps up I'm going to end up sighing all my happiness away." She whispered, remembering her fathers pet saying from when she was little.
She gave Tessa one more glance. The giant rhino girl had at least cleared off the field and was standing at the side lines now. Though her attitude seemed to make it clear that she did it of her own accord and not because she had been ordered to by the teacher. 'What a mess... The thought on the current situation returning to her mind. Eira bit her lower lip hard to keep herself from sighing once more. She turned around and went back to where she had stabbed Gungnir into the arena floor before she tried to stop Tessa. She gave the haft a sharp tug to free it and then let the weapon collapse down into it's blade form once more. The metal making a rasping sound that seemed annoyingly to her ears as if even her weapon was sighing in discontent at the situation as it was returned to it's sheath. With it stowed away she turned towards the remaining team and watched their fight continue on for moment or two before she turned towards the arena entrance. Her legs moving from quickly from a walk to a trot to a brisk sprint as she took off after Sassy and the boy that were taking Koryn to the infirmary. She should be able to catch up with them in a minute or two. [EXIT]

The snake clearly didn't expect Eli's actions. After all, who in their right mind would rush headfirst towards a giant reptile, and further more, attempt to ride it. The answer to that question was the incredible spider boy himself, who did it all with a cocky smirk upon his face. The surprise of the creature gave him enough time to position himself upon the creature, the claw-like blades of his gloves piercing through scales and into the delicate flesh beneath. That was the only spare moment he had to breath, for the very next the snack began thrashing wildly back and forth. It was in that moment that Survival Class truly became a rodeo, only Eli was riding an overgrown snake and not a bull. Just as well, he fully intended to coin the nickname of Snake Wrangler. All thoughts best saved for another time, for not only did it take every ounce of strength the boy possessed to maintain his hold on the beast, but every bit of concentration as well. He could spare non for his childish antics. The smirk that had once proudly dawned his face slowly turned into one of intense focus, electric orbs gleaming dangerously beneath furrowed brows. Forehead creased slightly, a drop of sweat slowly rippled over the lines and dripped down his cheek and off his jaw. The muscles on his arms tensed strenuously, forearms giving way to pulsing veins, only visible due to the holes Cali's semblance had left in his jacket. Not only were his arms strained, but his legs as he worked to wrap them entirely around the snake's body, thighs squeezing tightly to keep him in place. All the while he continued to distract the other head in order to keep its attention off the girl's long enough for them to escape its coils. The task became increasingly difficult as it became harder for him to maintain his grip. He couldn't risk releasing his grip, not even one hand, or he'd be thrust from the beast's back. This made maneuvering his webs rather difficult, but he did the very best he could. Possibly the biggest problem of it all was the fact he was so focused on protecting his team that he left himself vulnerable to attack, as always. Really it was no surprise, but it didn't make it any less concerning. At least not for anyone but Eli who never really seemed to realize the true dangers of his decisions until it was much too late.
Reckless or not, the valiant boy didn't plane on going down so easily. While Cali and the others were talking through their course of action, Eli was formulating schemes of his own. For as often as he seemed to toss his own safety away, it was a blessing that he had brains to back up his brawn. One could practically see the gears turning, vivid hues alight with a sly mischievousness as he pieced together the final pieces of his retaliation. If his hands weren't so busy hanging on for dear life, he might even twiddle his fingers together in a falsely villainous way. One might think it would have been easier just to back out as soon as his team had gotten free, tuck and roll and let the beast throw him off. However, as he saw it, this was the most advantageous place to attack at the moment. After all, the grim was far from stupid and had positioned itself in a way that the rest of his team would either have to take to the coils themselves, or run around the long way. Both options gave his team little time to successfully attack and the snake plenty of time to defend itself. Eli was already in position, so he might as well take advantage of it while he still could. He wasn't sure how much longer he could bare to hang on, already his muscles were burning in complaint, so he acted quickly. The boy would shimmer with a bright teal aura, focusing it through both his hands he would send a huge bolt of electricity through the snake, straight through the back of the head he was holding onto. If successful, that would give him enough time to string together a net of webs. Electrifying the webs as well, he would launch the net at the other head, which should have both distracted it and partially immobilize it enough for the rest of his team to get a chance to act. Finally, he would release the beast just as it thrashed its head through the air. The spider would be sent flying backwards at an alarming rate.
As he flew through the air, he would load a vial of lightning dust into the opening at the base of his gauntlet. Just as he completed the action, the boy would finish his back flip of sorts and feet would collide with the ground. However, the momentum was more than he had expected and much more than his tired body could take. Knees would buckle and give way and instead of a graceful landing, Eli would crash into the ground with a loud thud before rolling several feet. He hadn't quite been prepared for such burnout and as such his face would skid across the floor, pavement drawing lines of red across the pale flesh of his cheek. When the momentum slowed and he finally came to a stop, he would roll unto his back with a load groan. It would be with slight trembling legs and a fair share of bumps, bruises, and scrapes that he would push himself to his feet. Warm drops of crimson ran down his cheek, dripping off his jar. Jacket torn and shredded even more so than it had been previously, he would reach up an arm and wipe it across his face. The leather didn't do much more than smear the blood further and probably lodge even more dirt into the wound, but he didn't seem bothered by it. He didn't even so much as wink. He wasn't out for the running yet. He had one more use of his semblance and he planned to use it with the combined force of the dust vial. Given the way he had flown backwards through the air, he was in the prime location, just behind the snake and past the defensive maze of coils it had positioned between the girls and its head. Eli didn't trike right away though. He only had one shot and he wanted to be sure he timed it just right. He couldn't avoid missing for not only would it waste both the dust and the last remnants of his aura, but he might his one of his teammates instead. So, for once, rather than acting brashly with caution thrown to the wind, he waited and watched. Electric orbs would analyze the situation at hand, looking for the perfect opening.

XXXThe ideas just weren't coming fast enough, not when Eli was risking his every limb to buy them as much time as possible. The anxious girl found herself getting more antsy and worried for the boy as the seconds drew out. Any bits of clothing she had left, her gloves included, had crumbled to bits of dust. Perhaps the girl would have dashed into the heat of battle if she was kept waiting a moment longer. Fortunately enough, Nox came up with some inkling of a plan. It was a suggestion to use ice in order to slow down the reptilian. It was a sound plan, though not one that Cali was capable of assisting with. All her dust had been left in Eli's position with her backpack, including her extra soles and ammo. It was something that they'd need to be more cautious of in the future, as it was a clear obstruction to their combat flow. "Right.. Slow it down... Then strike." Even if Cali wasn't capable of providing a frosty obstacle for the beast, she could use the opening it would create. She was the most mobile of their team and could utilize any bought time to her advantage. That being said, she was also the most capable of scaling the wall of coils. ... Or so she thought. While Nox began her offensive with the icy lance, Yenna began her own assault. Sandy orbs would watch in wonder as the girl catapulted herself into the air. In the blink of an eye, the rabbit faunus seemed to warp right next to the dark head, who also had a net of webs to fight off.
She couldn't hesitate anymore. Everyone was doing their part, so now it was her turn. Kicking off the ground, both her heels would release a burst impact to send her arching towards the wall of frigid coils. While she could've easily scaled the walls in order to reach the black head, she had another method in mind. As her right foot went to connect with the first wave of coils, her aura would flare in order to infuse her pestilence into her ammo clips. Following the point of contact, she'd release a burst from her right foot to propel her further into the air. These bursts already retained the brunt force of a shotgun blast, but now they were infused with the presence of decay that'd briefly eat away at the creature's scales. This would not only begin to weaken the natural armor of the creature but create a presence of lingering pain. The girl would take two additional leaps, firing one burst from each heel until she scaled the wall of coils. Surely the snake would be writing, feeling segments of its body exposed to the presence of death she constantly emitted. That's when she saw it, a sight that would leave her both distraught and furious. It was in a flailing fit that Eli would be flung from the white head's body, sending him tumbling across the ground countless feet away. "Eli!" It was a wail that was so foreign to her quiet nature. A vocalization of her worry for her beloved, a voice that would surely let anyone that could hear it of his condition. Following her words and worry, the girl's teeth would grit. The timid expression of pained worry would narrow as her sandy orbs glared towards the white head. How dare it. It was the same anger that boiled inside for the horned faunus that sent a series of splinters through his back. What was the difference? The fact that she didn't have to hold back.
In the heat of the moment, she'd suck in a sharp breath between her teeth. Angling her body downwards, a burst would release from the back of her left heel to launch her towards the smooth scales of the snake's elongated body. Sandy hues would focus on the pale scales that led away from the ebony mass, showing she was following the proper path to the white head. As both heels touched down on the snake's lengthy form, a series of consecutive bursts would release from the back of her heels. These bursts propel her forward to glide along the smooth scales of the creature. Not only that, but each burst would release an impact of aura that would begin eating away at the shimmering ivory. Each burst was spaced to get the maximum momentum but surely fired up to five rounds from each foot. The sight was certainly something to behold. Eli may have snatched the title of Snake Wrangler for himself, but Cali was surely putting on her own impressive display as the Scale Surfer. Tucked down close to its body, the girl kept her form low as she surfed the shifting mass of scales. Even if the coils looped in hoops, her momentum would keep her going forward as her own acrobatic capabilities would act as a buffer to keep her on her path. By the final set of bursts, she'd begin to scale upwards towards the white head. Though unintentional, the girl would rise just under the bottom jaw of the creature, just as Yenna had done to the dark head with her shield uppercut. As her feet were about to slide right off it, she'd release two simultaneous decayed bursts against it. If nothing was done to stop it, the ivory head would feel the same force that would shatter Felix's skull if it hadn't been reinforced. The only difference was the level of concentration infused with the decaying potential. If it was allowed to hit, the ivory head may not have had a lower jaw afterward. However, such a powerful impact fired upside down left Cali in a tight spot. The force propelled her from the snake. While she was capable of shifting into a flip to gain her footing, that didn't stop the girl from tumbling into the ground in the epicenter between the two snakes. Releasing so many blasts at such a rapid pace left her legs feeling numb and tingly. As if they were reduced to jelly from the shock to her muscles, she'd drop to her knees without her legs so much as buckling. Perhaps her only saving grace from completely biffing it was the grace that she had that her own partner lacked. There was the distant feeling of pins and needles darting up her calf, but she wouldn't so much as hiss at it. Such minor pain was nothing to the girl. Instead, she found herself preparing to launch herself into the fray again ... If given the chance, so long as the coils of black and white didn't enclose around her a second time.
XXX Eli's electric shock caused the ravenous reptile to freeze, and then start to rapidly shake itself again to attempt to get rid of the spiderboy. It would still not be able to loose itself of the thorn in its side, but the wild shaking would cause Eli's web that she shot towards the other head to be flung into the air and miss. The creature would keep flailing itself around even after Eli had launched himself off of it. In order to prevent him from reattaching himself to it the rest of the coils swiftly moved over to get distance.
The snake, in full defensive mode, was able to see Nox's frost lance in enough time to swipe it away with a flap of its inner section. What seemed like a simple move, however, was not so simple due to Eli's distraction causing the snake to miscalculate by a few inches. The lance sliced through a measly two scales, but it was just enough to break the flesh. The effects of the lance was quick, its mid section quickly recoiled tightly together from the cold sensations. It wasn't a big enough blow to slow anything but the mid section, but it still visibly started to slow around the icy wound.
Yenna's move was quickly the new focus of the massive beast. It's beady eyes locked on her. It's face took on a dark grimace, a sly like smile as if to say it had her trapped. It bulged up its center section to smack her, but it had already forgotten what had just happened to it. Its mid section was too sluggish due to the frost lance to make it in time. Yenna's shield uppercut made contact. The blow, accompanied with a loud crack, cocked the snakes head back with devastating force that rippled down through its body. Its face slammed into the arena surface. Out cold.
Cali was the last one to be making a move at this moment. The snake remaining snake head turned slowly towards her direction a bit late due to numbed sensation in the mid coils where she had tactfully leaped to. The snake was release a roar-like hiss at the pain of her pestilence rotting its scales away. Its body seemed to pulse and writhe in pain at every blast. It was simply utterly overwhelmed by the sheer teamwork against it. Her final blasts to the white head caused it to scream in sheer rage as it was likewise knocked back by the blast to its lower jaw. This time the snake was set on maiming at least one of its foes. It shook off the pain as if it was nothing, but one could clearly see the pestilence rotting into its face. It's jaw opened wide. Time itself seem to freeze for just a moment as its fiery gaze locked on Cali. Within less than a second the snake slammed its jaws down on Caliand scooped her up into its mouth. And swallowed. A lump slowly marched down its throat towards its belly. It let out a satisfied rasp as one would do after consuming a nice meal. Its eyes then turned towards Yenna who was not too far away. She'd make good seconds.

___ Things were progressing at a break neck pace. With all the girls clear the counter attack had begun. Cali was fast but Yenna had an unfair advantage in that department that let her rush in ahead of the other girl. The King Taijitu managed to finally throw Eli off it's back but not until after taking a good zapping. It seemed that trying to hold on had exhausted the poor guy's legs and they gave out on him during landing making for what under any other time and place would be a blown landing worthy of laughter. Despite the sketchy start of the landing Eli managed to roll out a recovery though that didn't stop the fact that he had been thrown from drawing Cali's ire. The grimm had taken a double hit from Yenna and Nox, the icicle lance grazing away a number of scales as the snake failed to deflect it as intended and the resulting frost damage causing visible freezing along the side of its body. The slowing effect making an opening for the small bunny girl to knock the black head right back over. It looked dead to be honest though Nox wasn't going to believe that given the white head sprung back from an equally powerful blow from Cali. Sprung back and then...
___ Nox's legs wobbled, threatening to buckle and make the girl fall to her knees as Cali was just.. gone. Her eyes wide and her mouth hanging open just a hair in shock. Then suddenly she recovered as she firmly thought, 'NO! It swallowed her whole. She's still alive, and that was probably more a mistake on it's part than a danger to her, but still!' Nox charged forward as fast as her legs would carry her. 'Where is she now. DAMN IT! I can't just hit it randomly. It wouldn't do to stab or cut the thing and actually hit Cali. Can't just let it have time to try to digest her either.' Then the real issue dawned on her. 'I, we, can't waste time here. Even if Cali is just tearing it apart on the inside there is no air in there. She'll suffocate if we don't turn it to dust fast!'
___ Nox connected the blades of her weapon to create the staff form of the weapon. A twist would lock them into place and set the blades up for maximum spinning damage. Though the issue of where to strike was still relevant. The head was focusing in on Yenna now so Nox took advantage its focus to try and consume her teammates to lunge in. While the weapon would be good for spinning it was more than capable of thrusting motions and Nox put all her body weight behind the thrust. The tip of the blade aimed right for the exposed flesh on the underside of the head and neck. Cali's semblance had cleared the way and this was a place Nox could be certain she could strike without harming Cali inside. Her crimson eyes were fixed on target as she drove the staff home, looking to blind side the snake while it tried to strike at its next meal and drive the two feet of blade through the scaleless patch, up through the bottom of the mouth and into the top of the skull or into the first vertebrates. If it hit true Nox would use her twist her body so the impact wouldn't stop all her movement, instead swinging her momentum to twist the angle of the blade. If her aim was true and it worked out it would make sure the skull and neck bones were separated and hopefully the spinal cord along with them.

Yenna's eyes went to Eli as he was thrown off of the grimm's back. He landed with what looked like a decent thud though she was in no place to really check up on him as of yet. Their beastie was still alive and kicking but how much more could this thing take? It had been stabbed, zapped, uppercut'd and it always looked pretty bashed in. She raised her head in just enough time to watch the snake head...was it grinning at her? Like he was up to something? She continued on like a crusader would have but no real raw end of her decision came. Yenna had smacked the head with her tower shield. The head fell onto the arena floor with the small rabbit landing on top of it. "Get stuffed! Best team in the whole bloody academy on ya." Her victory was short lived though, as the other mini-member of DECO was about to get truly familiar with their opponent. Her eyes widened as Cali was consumed whole after a loud hissing sound.
"CALI, NO!" She yelled as loud as the heavens could hear. A wrecked expression took her by storm as the lump heading towards its stomach would go. Yenna was panicking, looking to Eli. "OI! Spiderboy! Cant'cha freeze it or make it not digest her?! Do sumfin'!" With the eyes of the beast on her, the crusader would slam her shield on the ground twice and hurry forward.
"Now ya done it. Ya pissed in me cereal, ya slithery bastahd." Yennefer activated her semblance again, focusing on the area above the head focusing on her during her movement towards the snake. After eyeing the space there, she got low and jumped off from the ground and shortened the distance between the space she had been and the space above the remaining head. She would spin around, aiming to swing her tower shield on top of the snake's head once more.
The scene playing out before his eyes was one of the most hellish nightmares. For a boy who spent his entire life protecting one precious individual, to watch her be swallowed whole by a monstrous beast rattled him to the core. What made it worse was the fact that he was still several yards away from her and he couldn't do a single thing about it. He couldn't push her out of the way. He couldn't get them both to safety. He couldn't take her place like he normal would if things got too desperate. He couldn't save her. All he could do was watch as his soul purpose for existence was swallowed up before his eyes. Gone in an instant. He was consumed by a sickening emptiness. A rot that ate deeper than Cali's pestilence ever could, that hurt more than her pestilence ever could. To watch the person closest to your heart slip away while being completely helpless to stop it was among the most wretched of feelings. He could practically feel his heart shatter to nothing more than dust, spread within the lonesome cavity of his chest. He was deaf to Yenna's shouting, numb to the world around him. If she were the string that tied him to this plane of existence, he was cut loose, free floating through an agonizing limbo of time. Without her, nothing really mattered. The disrrought was clear on his face, but it was slowly giving way to something else. Perhaps something even more putrid. The simple fact that this was all his fault, at least it was to him. As illogical as it was, the boy would find some way to rationalize it. Some way to twist it around and pin it on him. He should have held on just a few moments longer. He should have gotten to his feet and rushed to her side as soon as his moments of rodeo glory were over. He should have never left her in the first place. He could feel the guilt tugging at his very soul, winding its self around his most vital parts and squeezing, suffocating, stilling the oxygen from his lungs.
Face turned white, elegant electric orbs wide with horror, this would all happen in an instant before his demeanor changed completely. The blood slowly boil back into his cheeks, running white hit through his veins as he was overwhelmed by a familiar sense of rage. It wasn't ever yet. He wouldn't let it be. Clinging to a desperate hope that she was still alive, he was going to make this despicable creature pay for thinking it could get away with taking her away from him. Had he been thinking clearly, he might have realized the snake swallowed her whole, that she surely wasn't dead yet but they were in a race with time. Something Nox and Yenna had already concluded. He might have realized that between his teammates attacks, the beast was surely a goner and there was no need for him to jump in. However, between the fear, the desperation, and the anger, there was no room for rational thought. He paused long enough to realize that his precious plans could now not only endanger Cali, but Nox and Yenna as well, but that was it. The electricity that he had been planning to launch out the beast instead enveloped his body, igniting him with a a vibrant, crackling shimmer. The long blades on his gloves extending with a metallic ring that vibrated through the air, the boy would take the dust vial in hand and charge forward.
Despite his own recklessness he was careful enough to avoid Nox and Yenna as well as the belly of the beast where Cali was surely tucked away. Instead he would aim for the back side of the creature, just below the head that Yenna had just pummeled with her shield. Once again he would rush in, leaping onto the creature's back once more. His legs, as exhausted as his muscles were, would wind tightly around the creature's body once more. The electricity that ignited the boy would give the beast a shock of a life time, but the blow would be more isolated this time, to avoid possibly hitting one of his teammates in the process. Or worse, fry Cali up I side the belly of this monster. Clawed hands would reach around, looking to puncture the soft underside of its neck. He would drae the blades roughly over the flesh there, again, and again, and again. It was like he was a broken record, stuck on a loop. He wouldn't stop until he was sure the thing was dead. Not until its was banished back to whatever hellish nightmare it came from. Not until it was nothing but a pile of dust and Cali was returned safely to his arms. Truthfully he looked nothing short of a hot mess, if not a broken man on the verge of insanity. It wasn't a pleasant sight and surely.not something he would be proud of later, but just like before, there was no room for logical thought. He and Cali had been through their fair share of close calls, but never once had be been this close to watching her die right in front if him and the sight was taking a hefty toll on him. The image was branded permanently into the back of his head. A constant reminder of how he had almost failed, how he'd nearly lost her forever, of just how much more careful he needed to be.

XXX The magnificent beast's face contorted into what almost looked like a victorious smile. The poor humans disheartened at their fallen sister. The creature's mouth drooled. It could almost taste a massive comeback. It would swallow another, and then another, and then finish the last one off with glee. The creature's eyes were narrowed on its next victim to be; Yenna.
It started to move its body as to position itself closer to the little human who started to charge it. The food was coming straight to the the beast. The snake noticed out of the corner of its eyes that the boy was also now charging it. In that moment it hesitated, unsure which one to defend from and which to attack, but that was all the time it took for Nox to move in. The creature's head cocked back once again. A massive blow sliced into it from the side. The blow didn't hurt though, or at least, it couldn't feel the pain. The beast thought as it noticed its vision was off, it could see its own body from above, that is when it realized its head had been severed completely.
The head disintegrated into dust first, followed by its body. The dust blew away in the wind revealing Cali who plopped onto the ground from where she was, likely blue for lack of fresh air. The King Taijitu had been defeated. The air suddenly warmer now that the fearsome beast was gone.

XXXSuch a precise blow with two powerful impacts would've surely been enough to daze it, right? To fall away from the creature and struggle to regain her bearings. That was all in the plan, right? A plan that was tossed to the wind. The sandy-haired girl underestimated her opponent just a bit too much. Surely those bursts were enough to shatter human bones, but this thing was no human. It was a creature of grimm, the monstrous entities that threatened to drive both human and faunus to extinction. Against all odds, these creatures continued to conquer. What was one girl hoping to do? Give it a rash? A headache? Her tiny frame merely ricochetted off the creature, giving her only a few brief moments of airtime. It was in those few moments that time itself came to a standstill. Seconds became minutes as every detail came into focus. The fumbling coils around her, the faunus behind her that were celebrating their near victory. Brown hues even saw the spiderboy in the distance, barely on his feet. A spiderboy who's vivid blue hues grew wide in horror. It was then that her gaze was drawn away by a glistening red. Orbs of polished sandstone meeting that of an eerie ruby. Gems so finely polished that Cali could see her unbecoming fate. Sandstone orbs growing so wide that one could see the gaping maw. "Eli... Hel-!!" Sunlight would glint off the ivory fangs before everything went black. The jaws of the serpent clamping down around her, silencing her plea for her precious spider. The one who always saved her in the end. The one who would never let such a thing happen. She was gone in an instant.
Where there was light, Cali now found herself sliding into an abyss, much like the nightmares that haunt her dreams. Only this time it was a tight fit as the muscles of the serpent continuously expand and contracted around her.
The air grew so thin, so constrictive. Yet as it grew so restrictive she couldn't help but breath more rapidly, panicked. The anxiety would static in her chest. The fear swelling up like a bubble on the verge of popping. It pressed against her ribs, crushing her lungs and organs alike. She couldn't think. She couldn't breathe. Where was rationality when one could feel the life slipping from their lips? As her tiny frame slid so effortlessly against the cool and oddly textured, almost slimy insides. This was it. This was how she died. With her oxygen snatched from her lungs only to dissolve in a puddle of acid that she had yet to reach. In what she believed to be her final moments, a series of thoughts would flash through her mind. Perhaps her life unfurling one last time? Every terrible moment.
She thought of a mother and father, distraught by the monster they made. The children and teachers alike that would bully her, shun her, all over something she couldn't control. A girl sitting along in her room, abandoned by the world around her. Skin withering beneath her finger tips and every scar it created. A set of parents who turned their back on a child trapped in a blazing inferno, left for dead.
Yet with each terrible thing there was, there was something greater.
She thought of a boy that was just a bit too reckless. One who took her by the hand with a smile and slipped the first glove on her finger tips. Time and time again, that same boy would stand up for her against the cruel boys and girls of the school yard. An act of kindness that she'd return, standing up to those who unjustifiably hated spiders.
She thought of a couple that looked a bit odd, one with eight eyes, the other with eight legs. Yet despite their off putting appearance, they were the nicest people in all of Remnant. They fed and housed her, treating her as if she was their own daughter. Not the burden that the world made her out to be, but just another girl.
She thought of that same reckless boy who traversed hell itself to save her from a blazing grave. Against all odds he managed to fish her from the raging inferno. Not only did he endure burns unlike any other, but the fearsome assault of a beowolf that threatened to cleave them in two.
She remembered the reason why she endured all the pain and torture those treacherous Tribe inflicted upon them. All the times she spat and cursed to get a rise just to take the burden upon herself. To save a spider that even back then she knew she loved.
She thought of the golden rays that glistened off the cascading waves of a beautiful beach. The rainbow mist that followed each crashing wake, leaving only traces of sea foam in the sand. She wanted to go again despite how much she protested it the first time. To wear another adorable swimsuit picked out by a special someone. To swim out to see without a care in the world.
Perhaps it was that first day in class that felt the most surreal. A certain spider had to move heaven and earth just to get her out of bed. Managing to get her to step through the doors was another story all together. With gloved fingers interlaced, the two hid in the back. Just as she wanted. Yet nothing could've prepared her for what would happen next. After so much focus, after years of trying and preparation. The curse that plagued her existence shut off for just a moment. And only a moment was needed. It was that same moment that the two shared their first kiss. Their only kiss. Without fear of pain, without worry of scars. She felt the skin of another without it rotting away in her finger tips. Even now she could feel it. The course skin of his finger tips grazing her cheek. His warm chapped but tender lips against her own. Surely there would be more in their future, right? ... Even he made a joke about it. About how maybe in this class they could kiss again. To think something like that made her hold her head high.
Who could forget such a magical night in an autumn wonderland? With such beautiful shades of orange, red, and gold. A beautifully crafted rose of metal wrapped in a silky web to glisten under the fall themed lights. A gift designed for her and her alone. Each dress she wore was more beautiful than the last. A closet cleared out to be hers and hers alone. With those on her team they came together to comfort their little bunny comrade. She gave her a dress and her very own heels. Each and every detail of that night tweaked to perfection by someone who knew her inside and out. Someone who could describe her soul in perfect detail. It all led up to the most memorable series of steps in her life. To be whisked away off her feet by her own knight, her prince charming, and her fairy god spider. It was all a case of bippity boppity boo.
And what of the others? Their scale cheeked leader with eyes of garnet, polished to perfection? A faunus that melts at the thought of heat and admired fashion all the same that she did? With such a miraculous semblance, as well. One that saved them time and time again. There was no way she could forget the bunny crusader as well. Smaller than her, yet larger than life itself. The way her adorable ears flopped around as she sprung into action, taking the charge at any moment to lead them to victory.
For each terrible memory, there were dozens of happy ones. There was one constant in her life that made it worth living. Something, no, someone that was around every corner to act as a light in the darkest of tunnels. To take the place of the oxygen in her lugs. A spider that brought new meaning to her existence. Someone that told her she wasn't the shell of a girl that the world turned her into. It was all because of him that she was able to make it this far. How was she repaying him? By giving up? By letting the last thing he saw of her was to be gulped down by some horrific creature? She hurt him every day with her existence. Was she really going to do the same by ceasing to exist? To let the last breath escape her lips and turn to dust?
She couldn't just sit there and accept her fate. She was still afraid. The bubble of fear that crushed her lungs didn't alleviate in the slightest, but that was okay. Fear wasn't just a burden, it was an instinct. It was a will to survive. Anxiety, a disturbance she felt every minute of every day. The pressure of a world judging her every move, the thought of caving under it all. It would static in her chest like electricity. An energy. Just as Eli's electricity sparked from his very soul. Her fear. Her anxiety. She could use it to fight. She could use it to keep going. Even as her final breath escaped her lips, she could hold out for just a moment longer. She could push her body just a bit further. Even in the black abyss, she could act. She couldn't die here, at least not willingly. First, she had to stop the sliding. Fingers would rapidly grasp at the slimy walls around her before an idea kicked in. Kicked almost being the keyword. 'I got it!' Digging her toes into her heel she'd manage to slip both heels off her feet. The metallic shoes would quickly slide up, snagging in her hand. At the flip of a switch both heels would begin to shift and click into place, the metal sliding to form hooked swords. In order to keep herself from sliding any further she'd slam both blades into the inner walls of the creature. The blades would surely rend its obsidian flesh from the inside, but the girl would twist and turn her blades in order to dig herself into place. Once anchored, she'd hold her body firm against it while pressing her bare face and feet to it. 'I'll rot you from.. the inside.. out.. if I.. have to...' All around her suit would emit the decay, but the direct contact of her bare skin would surely burn the worst. Now if only the air hadn't ceased. Even with the 'passionate fear' burning in her chest, her lungs were still just as much on fire. Shriveled, aching, screaming for oxygen. If the inside of the creature wasn't already black, she'd surely see her vision fading.
It was then that the creature moved again, one last time. The strength that kept her in place was fading as the coils unfurled. As the body fell, the space that encompassed her began to crumble around her. The creature itself turned to dust, whether by her own volition or the others. This led to her small frame dropping to the ground. Swords dropped, Cali would immediately bring her hands to her chest, her lungs on fire. Sucking in as much air as possible, it followed with a fit of coughing. It hurt so much. Her lungs so weak and brittle, threatening to burst at the first intake of air. What did burst however was that bubble of fear. Popping in her chest the panic would over take her as tears began to well in her eyes. "That... happened... I... almost... breathe..." There was no way her words would be truly coherent. Her mind was fried, unhinging as images of the gaping maw returned to her mind immediately. It happened so quickly, as if she was nothing. It felt as if she was stuck inside it for more than seconds. Minutes, maybe even an hour. Was that all due to her life flashing before her eyes? In her fit of coughing, she'd bring her legs in to her chest. Curled up as she laid there on the ground. Unsure of what to say, what to do. Who saved her?

___ Nox was tunnel visioned with her assault. Her blade sliced into the grimm from below the next. There was a lot more resistance than she was expecting. All of that muscle was hard to push through. Though she had plenty of momentum to use from running up and lunging like she had. Add onto that a sharp, well maintained blade. It determinedly sliced through until hit hit upon something much harder. It couldn't go any farther. A growl came from her as she became frustrated with it and started to force the blade. She was completely unaware of Yenna coming in to help. The little crusader slamming her shield down onto the King Taijitu's head. The blow knocking the head down the blade and while Nox didn't see what happened she felt it. A vibration from the impact was transferred to her weapon and it coursed down the length of it. More than that she felt whatever that hard thing she had struck pop out of place and the blade pushed through. The tip popped out the other side and began to carve it's way out to the side. All the while Eli had jumped in as well and was shredding into the other side of the neck.
___ A sheepish yelp escaped from Nox's lips as the blade suddenly accelerated having cleared the resistance of slicing muscle. She tumbled forward, hopping on one foot to keep her precarious balance. Thanks to the hit from above provided by Yenna and her shield Nox's blade had managed to get through the vertebra and cut the spinal cord before cutting away a good three quarters of the grimm's neck. Eli's frantic attacks with those claws of his had finished what was still connecting the head to the body. The grimm surely felt nothing after the blade had got to the spine but that was probably a mercy they hadn't intended to give it. All they probably cared about was that it's head was now floating through space looking back upon it's own body. Nox watched it as it arc through the air and then turned to dust. 'Did I do that? I didn't mean to go that far...' She thought to herself while her left hand touched her own throat and she shivered. And here she thought Eli was overprotective. Maybe it was her that could be called that in regards to her subordinates...
___ Either way the head turned to dust already. So that meant the body should be as well. Nox quickly turned her head to look. Sure enough it was mostly gone already and Cali had already been dropped onto the arena floor. There had been a clatter of metal and there were a set of hook blade swords next to her. It looked liked she hadn't gone quietly into the night. Nox started to rush over, concerned if she was breathing or not. As she got closer Cali seemed to reanimate. Suddenly gasping for air and speaking in a broken manner. Nox stopped nearby and let out a sigh of relief that seemed much to large for her size. If she was Yenna's size people might wonder if her lungs were some kind of pocket storage dimension or something. Nox made sure to stop a couple feet away from the curling up Cali because she was sure that is she actually tried kneeling down beside her there was a fifty-fifty chance Eli would run her over in his desperation to get to her.

XXXOne thing that this teaching job had taught Rachel was how to flex the slightest sense of self-control. With students, at least. Priorities may not have been her greatest strength, but they had their use now. Too many injured students as well as a grimm still active. Her intimidation towards Tessa hadn't faltered until her attention tugged away by the students around her. Those watching were sure to see a trail of drool seeping through her razor-sharp serrated teeth that lined her mouth. Tessa's puffing up only did one thing, make her a larger target. Rachel wasn't used to being the second largest in a room, but she was certainly more dangerous than this explosive twerp. Students broke off into their 'assignments,' meaning they were either carrying the injured or leaving themselves. That left her vivid crimson orbs to focus on the oversized snake. Hopefully watching someone else do a tussle would take her mind off her frustration with Tessa. So, as a bystander, she would watch team DECO in anticipation.
They were off to a spectacular start, starting with Eli taking the high road and mounting the creature. It was a sight that got her blood pumping, reminding her of how she had to wrestle the beast into the cage to begin with. It required a lot of biting and manhandling to begin to get it to comply. As the head took different positions; one thrashing the spiderboy while the other walled up its own coils as a barrier, Rachel was getting hyped. "Oh man, Spiderboy is in for the ride of his life! How long can he hold on?! How will DECO get pass the Great Wall of Tatiju?!" Calling out as if she was an announcer, she made sure to cup her hands around her mouth. After all, what was the point of commentary if they couldn't hear it!? The girls of the squad broke into their offensive tactic, divide and conquer. "Here goes Scales, makin' Yin wish it had a cup of cocoa! Then --- OOOH. Look at Hops, piercing the heaven's with her--- Shield? Well damn, defense really does make a good offense!" With the tag-teamed efforts of the two faunus, the mass of obsidien came crashing down. Out cold. Quite literally.
Next up waste only human girl on the team, just as Eli was cast aside like yesterday's newspaper. "On a team of beasties, the normie is going in for the kill! Look at those kicks, those flips! Are we sure this blotch of beige isn't just another rabbit faunus? Oh man... Rabbit sounds REAL good right now. --- Whoa, wouldja look at that!" Rachel actually found herself impressed at the display. Perhaps the most normal looking of the bunch, minus the deep blue suit, seemed to be performing phenomenal acrobatics. From kicks and flips to straight up surfing along the scales of the creature, Cali was in it for the long run. Clearly, at least in Rachel's eyes, Cali was making up for an inferiority complex for being the only human on her team. "Who woulda thunk the human was about to go super?! Going, going ---- Oooohh! If that was my jaw, I wouldn't be eatin' for weeks! Is that our final KO?! .... Oh NO!" The ivory head was knocked back, dazed for but a moment. It looked as if Cali's strike was the deciding blow --- but she was wrong. Scales were flaking, withered away by pestilence embodied. Piercing eyes of polished garnet locked onto the poor girl. Then, in a flash, she was gone. "Our little leapster is gone! Swallowed in an instance, into the abyss! What'll team DECO do now?! Will this be the deciding factor? Will their com.. compu.. compa... OH F**K IT, ARE YOU GONNA TAKE THAT s**t? FUKKIN' KILL IT!" This was way more exciting than she thought it would be. Every fight had been an absolute riot this time around, but this one was the most uncertain. What happened to Cali? Swallowed whole, would they ever see her again?
The answer to that was a solid yes. The members of DECO pounced on the beast in an instant. Each had their own tactic, it seemed, but all with the same intention. To end this creature and save their friend! It was Scales who struck with true sight, aiming with a single precise blow to end it once and for all. Hops wasn't about to be dessert, though! In a blink the girl seemed to teleport, only to use her defense as offense once more. Then Eli, oh Eli... He was a mess. All caution was tossed to the wind after he felt his world come around him. Rachel could see it in his eyes, a final stance with nothing to lose. Only one thing on his mind. To end this thing for taking away their precious normie. In the end, it was Nox's true strike that was the beast's undoing. The head of the serpent was severed perfectly, reducing the mound of scales to nothing but dust in the wind. "AND THAT IS SCENE, KIDDOS. GOOD SHOW, like damn. Ya'll are extra as hell." She'd chortle, amused by how it all went. Curiously, the girl had dropped from the cloud of dust with a series of clattering. Transforming weapons were certainly something, weren't they? Shoes to hooked blades, who knew!
There was a moment of silence as the girl laid there, not even a breath being drawn. Had they been too late? The girl was awfully small, it wouldn't have surprised Rachel one bit if she suffocated in the belly of the beast. Curious, she stepped towards the members divided. Surely they were all going to close the space, to check on their possibly dead teammate. Heck, even Rachel was curious if her lungs had shriveled up or not. Halfway there, the girl entered a coughing fit. Gasping and heaving, trying desperately to reclaim all the lost air. It brought a smirk to Rachel's lips. "And yer lung didn' pop! Good s**t, Scale Surfer" Unlike Nox, Rachel didn't slow down. Rather than leaving a few open feet, Rachel walked right up to the girl, crouched down and began giving her a very firm pat on the back. She'd seen it on TV, that hitting the back helped to cough. Right? . . . That was for choking, but oh well! She was still coughing. As she patted, however, she felt a tinge of pain spread across her palm as it dried rapidly. "Ehh? The f**k? Tajitu acid don't do that, no no. What the hell?" Not putting two and two together, Rachel pulled Cali over by her shoulder to lay her face up. The entire time, her palm rested on Cali as her skin tried out further and further. "Yer breathin', ya ain't crumblin' away. So what the hell is wrong with ya?" Right over her head with this one, all while the decay continued to lightly eat away at the professor's palm.

With their attacking in unison, Yenna was very happy with the teamwork display. Upon landing on the ground, she spun around on her heel and placed her hands on her hips in a dramatic pose. "Ain't nuffin' fer a buncha huntresses like us." After showing off for the teacher she moved to go over to Cali, who had let out a deep cough from being inside a beast for so long. Of course, she stopped the moment Eli ran to them and frowned. Her feet carried her towards Nox and crossed her arms. "She's gunna be ok, righ'?" Yenna turned to look at the snake funaus and sighed.
Something ate away at her and she was pretty sure it wasn't Cali's semblance. Whatever it was, Yenna didn't like it. It was a heavy feeling. One that made her feel...what's the word? Disappointed in herself. "It's all my fault, ain't it?...I coulda jumped to her and then...I thought tha' snake was gunna..." The small crusader huffed and stamped her foot out of frustration. "Bloody 'ell! Imma 'orrible shield fer the team." Yenna would hug Nox and shove her face into Nox's side, fed up at her own abilities.
