Garret paused once free of the confines of the clinic, now being able to breathe fresh and free air again. Not that he truly noticed a difference in air quality from inside the clinic to outside, save the temperature difference, but knowing it was air from nature itself made all the difference for him. While he lived and worked in a building much of the time, the call of nature could never be quenched. 'Once every last Grimm has been vanquished, perhaps I can remedy that.' He silently thought to himself, his vow briefly flashing into his mind and the failings of his youth. He pushed it from his mind, not wanting to dwell on it at the moment. His victory would come one day, and if not then it would not be for lack of trying. Keeping to the doctor's instruction, Garret would begin to walk forward along the cobblestone path. Her garden had a design to it that intrigued him, where it seemed to be a circle with exactly eight paths leading to the center. The space between each path seemed to be littered with a variety of plants and herbs from what he could tell, though he could not guess as to the purpose of many of them. 'I wonder what herbs she cultivates and what purpose each of them serve?' He would muse to himself, not truly seeking out an answer quite yet. It was interesting to walk along the paths and view them all; each carefully placed and seeming to have some form of organization; though save for similar types of plants being near one another he could not guess much else. 'And by having so many paths in the circle to divide up the area, it leaves easy access to all of them without having to risk trampling the plants themselves. Though it does not leave the greatest amount of space being utilized for growing plants itself, but it must suffice to support a clinic this size.' Garret thought to himself, thinking the design in the end was a smart use of limited space and resources. As Garret continued his casual walk along the path, easily resisting any temptation to pluck any or stray from the path, his mind would drift slightly. Thoughts of his current life here, his end goal, his past... all coming in and out of focus. Thoughts of the people he had met thus far, those he found held more interest than others. It was a... strange group that he had found some interest in Vale. All of differing status, ability, and nature. It was a far cry to his time traveling alone and in relative isolation. He had let one in far more closer than he ever intended... and the others seemed attracted to his arrogance rather than repelled by it, strangely enough. 'What shall become of them in the future, will we remain on the same path or forever part ways?' Garret would silently ponder to himself. He knew what became of those who stuck around too long in his life.

His internal musings had led him to the interior circle of the garden, on which lay a swath of plants and herbs that differed a bit from the others he had seen. He moved away from his current thoughts just to take in the sight around him. While he would have preferred a more natural feel to it, namely the lack of a man made path, he did find it quite lovely. There were a plethora of different colors, shapes, and sizes. All of which, while not always seeming to blend seamlessly, had that unpredictable charm of nature's own architecture. While not the most beautiful site he had seen, it was a pleasant one nonetheless after being prodded and tested. His mind drifted back to one of her remarks before he left for his blood test and its purpose. 'She stressed what can be learned from blood medically, though I wonder what else could be gleaned from it...' He silently wondered to himself. Blood had meant a lot to his mentor after the fall of his home, even if it was primarily to push Garret to become better. Even with his parents at the short time he knew them, he could tell that because of his blood alone he was expected many things. Learning of his families history only reinforced that, as only those truly worthy could be allowed in with their own. 'But then again, we have always striven to find those of worth regardless of relation.' He silently thought to himself in slight contradiction. As far as he was able to learn, his family was not one that kept the blood without outside introduction. They had in fact searched for it, but in the means of strengthening their own through change. 'But at the center of it all is the Revely blood, and their bloodline semblance.' He silently asserted in counter in his mind. So, in that regard, the blood had mattered. Only a descendant of the Reveley line could inherit the Dance of Spears as he had. Only one of Reveley blood could continue the family line. He also knew that such a thing would entail an heir, but he was not ready for such a thing or to even think of it. His objective was to reclaim what was taken from them... past that vow, his life was his own. He could not worry about such things until he had done what he was tasked with doing, what his blood demanded he do.

It was at this point that Garret was uncharacteristically caught by surprise at the sound of a voice, thoughts fleeing his mind as he turned to look for its source. Given the layout of the garden, he was swift in finding the source as his eyes settled on the figure of his current doctor just outside of the garden grounds. She had her familiar look of professionalism and polite tone of voice he had come to expect, telling him to come at his leisure to what he assumed was the exam room from earlier. Not long after, as Garret was collecting his thoughts, she would turn and head back to what he presumed was the exam room. 'The future and past can wait, for the present has more pressing matters to attend. And if I do not do them now, it will soon slip away.' He silently thought and reasoned to himself. While not clearing or resolving his mind, the time in the garden had helped him recover mentally and physically as he felt refreshed and energized again. While he could easily catch up to her if he felt inclined, Garret chose to travel more casually in speed. It gave him time to enjoy a bit more time in the garden as he slowly made his way out of it, not relishing the thought of leaving it for further testing. He did not particularly like opponents he could not face. 'Though if I think of each test as a trial to pass by will... Perhaps that would make it more palatable.' He silently reasoned to himself. It would be something he would have to try, and see if it helped. Competition was something he could hold in mind in order to try to overcome all odds in a situation. Even if the situation was a competition of mere survival, steeling his mind and making it take in that context always aided him. He hoped it would prove just as effective here. He would head again to room five, seeing the door to the room open and the doctor inside as his step would quicken slightly. There was little point in maintaining a slower pace once in doors after all. Upon entering, he would give a small polite smile to Dr. Lenz before taking his usual seat in the room. "I am ready for what may come next, though I would like to know what the next test shall be and what information may be gained from it." He would simply state in an calm tone of voice. His more combative nature temporarily sedated after his brief walk in the gardens.

Dr. Lenz was watching the young man for maybe a couple seconds or so in silence before she had decided to call out. So when she did, she would only notice his slight alarm and searching gaze before it caught her calm blue-gray eyes. She then would make her way to the room once again so she could double-check everything before he came in. She would then turn her attentions to the young man as he would join her in the exam room. "Of course. These next tests will be a pricking of the skin with different needles. p***k testing looks for a pretty immediate reaction to environmental and food-related allergens," She replied in her usual matter-of-fact manner.

"He doesn't seem to be squeamish with needles. I hope he will be alright." Drac noted before pondering as her attention turned to the tray she had organized. She then looked back at him in curiosity. "Since this is the skin p***k test for allergies, it can be performed on either the arm or the back. Which one would you be more comfortable with," She informed him before asking as the thought had just crossed her mind. When he replied that he would prefer the arm, she would nod slightly. "Probably the wiser choice," the doctor thought to herself as she would roll the tray over.

She would then sit before him like she did when drawing blood. Except this time, she would not be taking blood and was using the opposite forearm to test with. But first, she would prep the test area by wiping it down with an alcohol wipe before properly disposing of it and returning to her seat. Taking the marker from the tray, she paused and thought to explain.
"I'm going to draw marks on your skin and put drops of various allergen extracts next to each mark. Then puncture your skin with a needle to introduce the extract into your system." As she would explain, she would be doing as she informed him; using the marker to section off and label in small initials that she understood on his forearm.

She would continue to explain, even if not asked though as she would perform the test. Hoping to ease him with the information given.
"I’ll also apply two other things to your skin to see if it’s reacting normally; histamine, which causes a skin response in most people, and saline, which doesn’t cause a reaction in most people." she was now ready with the needles as she spoke casually, taking the time to look up from the needle-pricking to gauge his expression from time to time. "After each test area is pricked, we shall wait approximately fifteen minutes and see if there is a reaction. If we find you have a red, raised, itchy bump that resembles a mosquito bite, in one of the test areas, it means you likely have an allergy to that particular allergen," She further informed him as she would continue to p***k his forearm with certain allergens in their rightful places. Once finished though, she would stand and roll the cart away, preparing to proper dispose of everything used.

She was equally as ready to share what the next test would be about, thankfully. 'Ah, merely pricking the skin to determine allergies.' He silently summarized in his mind. Though perhaps not so simple as she mentioned it involved using needles for it, but at the least he knew what was to come. Being able to mentally fortify himself and expect the feeling would make it far more bearable than if he had not inquired on the matter. Though regardless he was not the squeamish type with needles; not when you were used to far worse wounds in battle. A p***k was something he could easily bear with and ignore to a degree in comparison. Though his mind wondered on how many needles she intended to use for this test, as she did mention if being different ones. 'No matter, the only fear I have is that the day shall slip away to this. And in that regard there is little to fear, as there is nothing else I need to accomplish on this day.' He silently thought to himself. She would pause and look to the tray in which Garret could see an assortment of needles along with other things he could only assume were allergens. There were a fair amount of them as he began to wonder just how long this type of test would take. She would ask him whether he would prefer to have this down on his arm or back as he gave some thought to the matter, looking off slightly into space. 'While on my back I can bear the p***k with greater ease, it would also leave me entirely vulnerable to whatever she may do and not anticipate it. Though I trust her enough for this, it would be better for me to see what was occurring.' He silently reasoned to himself before his gaze returned to meet hers. "The arm shall do fine. It allows me to see the process, as well as remain in a comfortable position." He would say as his response, thinking of those two new reasons last minute and felt like adding them in. They posed no real threat to mention them at the least. He watched as she would then roll the tray over in response, though she situated herself at the opposite side this time. 'Ah, it shall be the other arm this time.' He silently noted to himself. He did not understand why she was doing such things, but did not question it for now. He could always ask her near the end... Though before then he did desire to know about the arm. "Why is it we do not use the same arm for this procedure as before?" Would be his simple question.

Having his arm at rest but extended, he would watch as she got a gauze, that seemed to at least have been dipped in alcohol, and began to wipe it down. From what he knew of it, this was merely to clean the area they would do whatever they needed to. He knew it was involved in making it sterile in some way, if not the specifics. 'Is this to make sure no outside contaminants get in and alter the results?' He silently wondered to himself. He had no real way to know for sure, but was content with that assumption. She would then leave and dispose of the small wipe before returning to his side yet again and grabbing a marker from her tray. Garret was about to ponder as to its purpose before she would speak of her own volition and answer it for him. "Ah, so this is the way you keep track of which one may cause a reaction." He calmly replied to her, seemingly unfazed with all she had said thus far. As she spoke as well, he felt the marker moving across his skin and sectioning it up. Almost like some butchers would mark off different areas to be cut for certain desired parts in an animal. While he did not like the comparison, her telling him as to its purpose was of some relief. He could then follow, to a degree, what may cause a reaction for him among all she would test him for. 'Hmm... though I wonder what the letters mean.' He thought as he silently pondered. It was her form of identification for the allergens, but he was left unaware of what they each meant for now. Unless he got a reaction though, he felt he need not ask about what meant what quite yet. It was not as if he was aware of any allergens regardless. She would then state her intention to begin but first with two specific chemicals, or what he assumed were chemicals. She called one histamine and another saline, explaining how the former should cause a reaction while the latter would not. Garret felt one p***k and then another but aside from a slight tensing from the p***k he gave no real indication of feeling what occurred. She would then relate the physical sign of an allergic reaction, comparing it to a mosquito bite, and that it would take approximately fifteen minutes. After those two pricks, Garret would look up to her again rather than his forearm. "Thank you for explaining. Had you not, I may have assumed you were doing this type of test for fun." He would say with a slight smile, joking though he was unsure if she would get it from her prior reactions.

After the fifteen minutes had passed, the test went as expected. The histamine elicited a mosquito bite, but the saline had no such effect. "It seems I am normal at the least." He would calmly say aloud. The tests would continue, each p***k causing him to tense up minorly as rather than just 2 pricks this time there were at least four times as much on his arm and all running simultaneously. 'So many at once, yet far more efficient at the least than doing a pair at a time.' He silently thought to himself. Curious, given they had time to pass, he would ask her a simple question. "Are you allergic to anything Doctor?" The question was innocent in intention, as his tone of voice was more curious than anything else. As the tests continued though, answer from her or no, it would be found that none of them had the mosquito bite effect the histamine did. As far as Garret knew, it just meant that he would not be allergic to anything she tested him with. Once that was determined, she stood from his side and began to roll the cart away. For what purpose he was unsure, though that did not interest him much so he did not inquire. "So now that we have surpassed this test, how many more shall I be able to contend with?" He would ask with a slightly arrogant smirk. So far, save the pressure test, they had all been easy enough. He hoped to knock as many out as possible, though it also begged the question of how many tests there actually were to do.

Dr. Lenz would prep for the test on the other arm this time, but as she did, hearing his question of why, the white-haired woman looked up at him briefly. "It is a clean canvas to work on," She replied simply. And with that she would continue with her labeling before the tests would begin. "He is very talkative at the moment." Drac observed, though she did not understand why he was at this time. As the tests continued, she would be careful in prodding the skin while making sure he would not jump as well. For the most part, he did very well. Though his comment and gratitude made her raise a slight eyebrow. "Doing a test for fun is not something I would do," She stated matter-of-factually. As she took her work very seriously. After a bit, she would look to him, confused but shook her head.

After the test was finished, she would roll the tray away and properly dispose of the needles used in the bin marked caution for such needles. She would then turn towards her patient calmly. When the time had passed and nothing seemed to appear out of the ordinary, she would make notes in the patient file.
"Patient has no allergies that appear on the surface. No further allergen testing needed at this time," the doctor noted before preparing everything to be put away. As he seemed curious, she seemed confused until he asked her such a question. "I do not." She replied honestly, as she had never had an allergy in her life that she could remember. His enthusiasm only made her smile a little as she would be asked what other tests he must "contend" with next. "That should be all for today," She replied calmly, she would then close the patient file, pick it up and look back at the young man, not sure if he would be delighted or disappointed.

Garret had found this doctor to be very literal, but she at least would answer all his questions. She may not offer much more in the way of conversation at times, but that was alright by him. She had a serious if kind nature to her from what he had seen thus far, but then he had not been with her very long. It was not wise to make such assumptions, nor to entirely toss out such information. Future interactions with her, hopefully far in the future in terms of medical issues, would shed some light as to what her personality was truly like. Like her explanation on using the other arm as a clean canvas. While not the most clear explanation of it, he could understand that it meant it would be less prone to any random error or something along those lines. It was simple logic really to start with a new slate for tests. So perhaps not the most straightforward answer, but it was answer enough for him to understand the purpose of it at the least. It was interesting to not see himself with any visible reactions to the skin test, though he wondered if there were tests to determine allergies in other ways or some allergies that could not be determined by the skin test. Though to this he remained silent on the matter, having already asked if there were other tests to be performed and being told that he was done for today. It was good yet bad news in a way in his mind; he had a feeling there were more tests in store, but that he could not do them today. He could be wrong in that regard though. And if he were correct it would mean that he would have to arrive on a different day for another round of tests, something he would prefer to get done here and now. But he was not going to argue with the Doctor on that matter; if this was her profession she would know more on the matter than himself. Seeing as that meant they seemed to be done, he would rise from his seat and give her a slight smile. "Thank you again for seeing me on such short notice. If that shall be all then I will be taking my leave. When do I have to see you next?" He would ask in a polite tone of voice. He would be told that he could come back in approximately a week or have the results given to him. He would shake his head at the offer. "I shall return in person to collect them then. Until we meet again Dr. Lenz." He would say in a more serious tone of voice. He would then gave her a small formal bow and depart.

Dr. Lenz bayed her new patient a good day and went on about her work as usual. Her mind was never on him again for the rest of the time she would work. "This should hold interesting results," Drac thought as she would finally sit down for a lunch break. She had just missed John on his, but she never minded. As she would take in the test results to be sent to be tested, she would ponder over notes of her many patients she had that day.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The day of semblance swap the clinic was closed temporarily so as to figure out what she could do. Then opened again with a note on the door.
"Prescriptions distribution is temporarily unavailable due to complications." The doctors did, however keep their appointments otherwise, the just refrained from using any form of semblances.
Drac had already done her bi-weekly foraging in the forest, so she would not have to take the boy on that at least. It had been quite a long while since the first time she had met the young fellow. Though she was glad he was focused on his school, she was looking forward to seeing the chap. "I hope he is adjusting well," Drac thought to herself as she entered the clinic, opening it for another day of work. Turning on the lights, she would turn them off once the sun was up, but it still had about an hour and a half before it did. "Ah, good morning Ms. Alden." Dr. Lenz greeted the pink nurse who was almost always there to greet her when opening. The young and bubbly woman giggled and waved. Though Ms Alden was young, her knowledge of medical and natural healing was up to snuff, so Dr. Lenz took her on as a nurse full time; and the woman has never left since. "She makes the patients feel at ease as well, which is a plus. So, John tells me," Drac noted silently.
Once they were dressed and the others filed in for a day of natural care, time at the clinic would pass quickly. Smiling kindly, the cheery nurse called in her first patient of the day.
"Ah, how are you, Mr. Greene." She would greet, he was a slightly surly elderly man. Casually looking him over without being invasive as she did. "He is favoring his right foot. Seems he might have a sprain, but need to confirm," Dr. Lenz silently assessed. "He should be here in a few hours or so," Drac told herself mentally after a few patients' visits. Taking time in the garden while she had it.
Chase felt extremely nervous as he walked the streets of Vale to the address he had been given that was the natural clinic. One of the only ones, if not the only one, in Vale currently. It had been a long time since he had even seen Dr. Lenz, and his request to volunteer at her clinic seemed distant. School had taken up a majority of his time and gave him little room to actually go and volunteer there; despite his desire to do so. But even with that desire there was nervousness now. 'Will she still allow my presence? Will I be capable enough?' He silently wondered as the doubts filled up his mind, his steps carrying him ever closer to the clinic itself and the source of this anxiety. He wore his simple clothes on this day (profile picture) as it was not a mission day, though he felt almost naked walking the streets without his more concealing attire. Thankfully, he knew the least filled routes to travel through so it was mostly a peaceful journey. Though perhaps a less peaceful way may have given him a better outlet for his anxiety. Thinking on it, he wondered why he had such a strong desire to help others and prove he was good. No one really gave him the chance except a small few. Most people didn't even deserve it at times. But that was his hardened shell speaking. He did care about others and what they thought of him. He just wanted... to help. Even if sometimes it felt like people needed sense beaten into them or some people were not worth sparing.
As the clinic came into view his pace slowed drastically. He checked the time with his watch, seeing he would still be a bit early for when Dr. Lenz expected him but not too much earlier at the least. He knew that it was bad to be too early and too late; though while on time was best his mind always pushed him towards early to ensure he wouldn't be late. 'Unfortunately, there is nowhere else to go but forward.' He noted as he looked around. He didn't want to risk going to a nearby store and causing a scene if people recognized him. He took a deep steadying breath as he reassured himself mentally. 'If she did not desire my presence, she would have told me.' He thought to himself with confidence. She had not seemed the shy or indirect type with her thoughts when he had last seen her. He... trusted her not to betray him by having him come just to say he could not. She was giving him a chance, and he couldn't let his worries squander it. He took a few more steps, and opened the door into the clinic. As Chase walked in he was surprised by the sudden shift in atmosphere. Soothing music was playing as he entered this trapezoid shaped entry room, seeing benches where he could be seated and a reception desk directly ahead. He took another deep breath to steady his nerves now that he was inside; he was committed. Taking a few steps forward to the reception desk, he would wait for someone to come so they could alert the doctor that he was here. Looking down at the dry erase board he tilted his head slightly as it was empty for now. He wondered what it was for. Chase just awkwardly stood by the desk, trying to keep eye contact away from anyone else for now as he waited while fidgeting nervously. He wished he had some form of distraction instead of seeming out of place.
Dr. Lenz had been waiting for her clinic's volunteer while also enjoying a good book. The day was rather peaceful, surprisingly. So she would wait there. "What is taking him so long," Drac wondered to herself. Though before she could ponder much more, she would get a message from her receptionist that had entered and was in her spot. "Looks like I have one more patient." Dr. Lenz would sigh before entering the clinic and take her patient to Room 3, leaving the waiting room without patients at this time.
Meanwhile, Cindy Lou would drop her pen and bed down to get it. It was at this moment that the Beacon student would walk in. After a little bit, the mature woman who wore her long dark hair in a bun and a medical uniform popped up with her pen. Nearly jumping from her seat when she spotted the young man.
"Oh deary me, you spooked me. You must be the student volunteer the doc told me about." the receptionist would chuckle warmly and smile sweetly to the young man, no visible judgement in her eyes as she would message the doctor. She then looked back to the boy. "Dr. Lenz will be right out to see you." She then went back to typing into the computer and making notes in a planner.
Finishing up with her appointment, Drac would then sent the nice patient on their way. Walking out with them, she would pause once she spotted the tall young man that now waited in the waiting room.
"He looks so much better than that night," Dr. Lenz thought, analyzing him for anything out of the ordinary, medically. "Long time, no see Mr. Chase." Dr. Lenz greeted with a kind smile. She would then turn to the blank dry erase board and walk behind the desk to grab a marker and, writing in green, would write this week's riddle (in OOC) "I like to give my guests something to mull over while they wait. Shall we go to the garden," Dr. Lenz explained calmly before offering they go back.
Chase had thought no one was by the reception desk in his entry; having not seen anyone from his initial glances in. In truth, despite the front room being barren of any others, his nervousness still forced him to keep his eye wandering to a minimum. While he knew no one was there so there was no fear of accidentally making eye contact, this was more so due to his nervousness for this meeting. While unnecessary, it was one of his ways to cope with his ever present anxiety. And as such, it meant he didn't try to look behind the desk. Though that was for the additional reason that if someone were to return, he did not want to seem like he was doing anything that could be misinterpreted as questionable. He honestly did not even know what was on the receptions desk; the only thing he had seen was the blank board. So when Chase noticed a sudden peripheral movement close by, it took him entirely in surprise as it did her. The already nervous student jumped back away from the receptionist area as she nearly jumped from her seat, shock and fear clearly across his face. Thankfully between the two of them, she recovered first. Chase in his fear was almost close to bolting there and then had it not been for her words and the sweet smile on her face. No outrage, no anger, just kindness in her voice if a little bit of surprise. Chase would note long dark hair in a bun, medical uniform...before realizing his action may have been misinterpreted as staring for a moment as his eyes immediately went downcast. As she mentioned him spooking her and guessing he was the volunteer, he would merely meekly nod his head in slight embarrassment. 'I hope she takes no offense to my staring... Barely a minute here and I've already done something like this...' He berated himself at how this went about. He for sure was in no condition to speak currently; both her being a new person and their rather surprising introduction to one another dissuading any notion of that. Hearing her sweet chuckle though gave him some hope he did not do irreparable damage.
He would miss the look she gave him or her lack of judgement due to his eyes being anywhere but on her, but he did listen intently and nod as she spoke that Dr. Lenz will be out to see him soon. As she finished speaking and he heard her begin to type, he stayed a few moments in waiting before realizing her words meant he would have to wait a little. Further embarrassed, he slowly walked away from the receptionist desk to the seating area... Taking a few moments to look around first with scanning eyes, inspect the seat he was considering, wipe it off despite there being nothing on it, and finally take a seat. Taking a deep breath and letting it out with as much of his anxiety as he could. Knowing that Dr. Lenz was coming soon should have been a relief... but he only felt the anxiety all the more keenly, despite trying to calm himself. 'It should be... I'll try my... Agh, why is the pressure of this overbearing? It should be as simple as I am able or unable with that being the end of it...' He thought, trying to rationalize and calm himself. It was truly as simple as he was capable or was not for this assignment, yet for some reason his mind was fixating on it being of utmost importance to succeed along with the pressure to not fail. Even if it were out of his abilities, not that he knew if it was currently. He would spend his time waiting focusing on his breathing, to try and force himself to calm down a bit by thinking of only that. Which, surprisingly, did work for a time. But all good things must come to an end.
This one in particular came to an end as the white haired doctor would make her appearance in the waiting room, accompanied by a patient who went to the reception desk to finalize their visit. Thankfully, the patient had been distracted and had not seen Chase well; though Chase was also actively hiding his distinctive features. As they split, the doctor would take notice of Chase and alert him to her presence; while he had noticed the patient, it was only because he heard the sound of footsteps and not because Chase had taken the chance to look. Hearing her words, despite her tone, made a wave of anxiety go through him as he took a deep breath and exhaled as much as he could out. 'It is time to fulfill my obligations; whether or not this bodes good or ill.' He silently thought to himself as he he rose from his seat, eyes glancing towards the doctor for a brief moment before going downcast again. He did note her kind smile, in which a shy one was on his face; if a little bit obscured by his eyes being downward, though still noticeable. He truly wanted to speak then but... with others there, he felt the words get caught in his throat. He did manage a small nod of acknowledgement to her statement though. While he was more comfortable with the doctor... having others here and this being something of a task to take seriously was suppressing his ability to speak. He would follow as she began to move to the reception desk, though eyes not high enough to really see above her waist, as she went to the desk and and began to write. Or he assumed from the sounds he was hearing.
Curious, his eyes would slowly travel up past her medical garb and focus on where she was writing. Seeing it was the previously blank dry erase board that he had seen earlier on the desk. He would take a few steps closer to her, slow steps but not entirely silent, and stand a few feet away wondering what it was she was writing. As she finished, she would turn to him and explain it was something of a thought provoking type of thing. Chase did manage this much to generally look towards her face as she spoke, though it was clear his eyes were not trying to lock with hers. Instead, they would fixate on the words on the board as he realized they were a riddle of sorts. 'That attorney is my brother, testified the accountant. But the attorney testified he didn't have a brother. Who is lying?' He repeated it in his own mind to ponder on as she then offered they go back. He would nod, and she could note he seemed like he was thinking of something. Which would not be hard to infer, given where his eyes had been, that it was the riddle itself. He would go with her in silence for a little bit as he thought of it. 'It is obvious neither are lying... but why does my mind believe so? There are two attorneys in the court, but it is referring to a specific one. As I wonder why the accountant in the court in the first place... The accountant says the attorney is her brother, but the attorney says he has no brother.' He would think, over complicating the question a little in his mind as he had so many context questions to think of. Before he realized the riddle should give all the context needed, as he trusted the doctor to have done so. Thinking on it again, a small realization came to him. 'The accountant is a girl? And in this context if they are siblings, no one is lying because she is his sister.' He thought to himself, his expression having been very serious the entire time he thought of this. To the point that his eyes had not even been downcast and were instead looking forward; such was his focus on solving the riddle. Turning to the doctor, he would speak confidently strangely enough. "Neither are lying. The accountant is the sister. For the riddle, I mean." He would say, before realizing he should specify why he even blurted that out as he looked directly at her eyes in saying so. Then realization would cross his face as his eyes immediately went downcast; realizing then he had made and kept eye contact. He would meekly, and much quieter, apologize. "Sorry... I was thinking on the riddle...It is... Good... To see you again Dr. Lenz." He would say, slightly embarrassed as he realized it was impolite to not introduce himself before going on speaking. Berating himself at his inadvertent loss of manners in this matter.
Dr. Lenz had been glad to see the young man again, and though he was not roughed up like the first time they had met, she did take note of his lack of visual lock, nervousness from the slight fidgeting. "I guess I can check up on him as well," Drac thought logically. Even if he was a volunteer, she did like her guests and employees to be in good health. As she had written the riddle, she would not miss that he would move over to look at it. It almost made her smile before she would explain what it was for. "Shall we." Dr. Lenz smiled kindly before she would have him follow her down the hall and close the door.
She was not quite ignorant of the silence, though she did not break it first as she would lead him to the garden. When his voice did penetrate the silence, her blue-gray gaze turned to him, slightly confused. Then a small smile played the left corner of her lips.
"Ah, clever boy." Dr. Lenz was impressed, but she knew she shouldn't be as he was a rather intelligent boy. "You would be correct, Chase. Very good." Dr. Lenz would then look forward, towards a glass door that showed a garden on the other side. "There is no need to apologize nor look down. I am glad you are in good health," Dr. Lenz told him calmly as she would open the door.
Outside, it seemed to be a peaceful and pleasantly fragrant garden. So different to the technologically advanced world that surrounded them.
"He should do well here," Drac thought absently. Letting him step out on the stone path first, she would close the door on the air conditioned inside of the clinic. The only sounds now being from the birds and gentle breeze that tickled their skin. "Now, before I show you what you may help with...I have some time, before my next appointments. Mind letting me know how you've been." Dr. Lenz suggested kindly, genuinely wishing to hear how he was doing in Beacon.
Chase would surprisingly feel a bit of pride despite his prior despair on hearing her say he was correct and very good. He had no clue why... but it felt nice, even if it were only two words of praise. It was not something he was accustomed to in a while; in school you excelled and rarely were told of it. Others, if they were aware, may mention it or ask to study/ cheat off of you. But rarely did you ever hear praise for them. And even more so for Chase from his own experience in his school before beacon. To hear it from Dr. Lenz as well, when she likely knew much more than himself, was all the more... 'Enjoyable? No that is not the word... Meaningful? Yes, that will do for now.' He thought to himself in his mind, struggling for the correct word for a moment. While he did feel pride from her words, he did blush a little. 'Its only a simple riddle. I'm sure its not that hard. I shouldn't feel so from such a simple accomplishment.' He reasoned to himself, but was unable to suppress the feeling. A very small smile crossing his lips as he continued looking down, unaware of where Drac was looking. He would hear her speak again of there being no need to apologize or look down, to which he nervously half looked up. Not enough to meet her eyes... but not on the floor either. It was a relief to know she took no offense to his impoliteness earlier, though trying to keep his eyes on her like before was still a strange thing for him. Even if he had managed to do so willingly before... but for her he tried. As she said she was glad he was in good health his eyes did just barely raise to meet her as he gave a shy smile. She was one person he did trust.
Looking forward, he would realize they were suddenly at a glass door as she began opening it. He had not realized they had traveled the hall in all that time, having been too focused on his internal thoughts and the doctor. Looking forward, he would see a peaceful garden. And, without his usual veil, he would smell a pleasant fragrance from it. It did seem a stark contrast to the interior of the clinic; he was not expecting such a thing here, even if it was a natural clinic. He had assumed they received their natural products from elsewhere rather than grow it on site. At least he assumed it was on sight, as he was able to recognize a few basic herbs that he knew helped medically. Mostly due to his unpleasant "medical training" with his father. Still, this was not something that filled him with dread, anger or sickness. He did like healing; and he enjoyed nature along with the older style of technology. While he was not advanced in his own preference for tech, he was not ancient either. He could, however, appreciate the latter for what it was and its practicality in the present. 'While we may have devices at our leisure here, not everywhere we go shall have them. And this is the knowledge, then, that would serve us best.' He thought to himself. After a moment of taking in everything, he would briefly glance to Drac with a little trepidation before realizing he was to go first. The trepidation primarily due to not wanting to disturb the garden. But seeing as this was their destination... he took a quiet breath and stepped inside onto the stone path.
His gaze would travel to the garden around him again, now that he was no longer inside the building. He could just barely tell it seemed to form a circle, and that there were multiple paths that led to the center. He could not name every herb there, though he could recognize a few here or there. He wondered what brought about this pattern and spacing, the divisions in the path. 'Is it by plant needs, purpose, space, or aesthetic?' He wondered, though could not come up with an answer on his own due to his limited knowledge in such a field. He would hear the door close behind him, and turn to face Drac. Now, here where he could see no other person and could only hear the sound of birds... He felt more relaxed. Especially with the fragrance and gentle breeze of the outdoors; it was almost as if they were removed from the city itself, even if he knew it was still there. But this sense of being removed from the rest of things... made him feel at ease, especially since the only other person there was Drac. One of the few people he actually trusted. He would look to her, still nervous in mannerisms and expression, but would maintain a light eye contact to her with a small smile. Though words still eluded him, as he was unsure how to and if he should break the relative peace. Thankfully, the doctor took the initiative.
She would allude to something, saying how she had time before her next appointments and presumably before he was to begin his actual tasks. What it was he was unsure, though she soon clarified as she asked him how he had been. He remained still in confusion for a moment, having not expected that particular inquiry. 'She... wants to know how I've been?' He thought, mildly perplexed. While it was not an unreasonable question, it was not one he was used to. Nor one he expected from the doctor given he came here to work under her. He had been more expecting to be trained and put to work immediately once he understood rather than have this friendly reception. It was... not an unpleasant circumstance, not in the slightest, but an unexpected one. He would smile slightly nervous as his eyes fell a little. "I... I've been good. School is good. Nothing special really... Though i've been moved from my first team. I haven't met the new one yet... It wasn't for anything bad! They... they were nice, for the most part." He would speak, voice unsure and though not meek this time. It did shift to rushed the more he spoke, especially on the team aspect. He did not want her getting the wrong idea about the team. While he disliked Narx, they were not mean to him or anything. He didn't know if he should say why he was moved though; mostly because he wanted to word that correctly. His eyes had looked back up to her when he rushed to explain that part, and remained there as he took a deep breath to calm himself a little. His gaze would briefly look to the garden before back at Drac. "Your garden is very nice... Dr. Lenz. If I may... How have you been?" He would say sincerely, enjoying the garden and also curious of how the doctor had been. Not only for formality since she asked it of him, but also because he truly wanted to know. She was nice... and patient, helping him when she didn't even know him. So he did care for her well being... as strange as it was to think that when connections with others was very hard for him.
Dr. Lenz was pleased that he was at least Attempting eye-contact for a little bit. Of course, she wouldn't really notice this strange deflection of eye-contact until they were able to look at one another. Her blue-gray eyes would look to him curiously when they had reached the gardens of the clinic, as everyone was different. No allergies it seems...Good. She noted as he did not go into a fit of sneezing when they stepped outside. It would do poorly if he was going to be surrounded by the pollen of the different Flora for the time.
As he would step outside, she would smile kindly and close the door. They were alone for now and she had the time, so she had asked him. Not only to start conversation, but also for a rare and genuine interest in the boy's adventures. And as he answered, she listened with intent attentions until he was finished. It was a relief that he was doing so well, and a bit strange that he was moved to another team, but he assured her it was not due to any unpleasantness, which eased her concern.
"I am sorry about your first team. I know that not every team lasts." The doctor spoke calmly as she would walk over to a small wooden bench and motion for him to take a seat. Though it could be noted that in saying such that she knew from experience.
His comment of her garden made a small smile cross the young doctor's lips briefly.
He is relaxing, that is good at least, Drac noted absently before she would hear his question of her well-being in return. Thinking back on her time after they had met, she sat with proper yet relaxed posture. "Thank you. As for myself, I have been doing quite well. Keeping others healthy and well, as usual. Freya has been doing well too. I am curious...How much do you know about plants?" Dr.Lenz replied with a kind smile and sincerity before she seemed to ponder and inquire of his knowledge on flora.
                                      Chase did note how Dr. Lenz would listen to his response intently and seemingly fully focused on his words. It was the formal, polite, and respectful thing to do. Yet for some reason, Chase did not feel like it was merely that. Why? He honestly hadn't the slightest clue. And he knew not if it were a good or bad thing that it didn't seem to be out of simple formality. 'Is she truly and genuinely interested in hearing something to simple and inconsequential?' He thought but gave no indication of it. It was something he would allow his own mind to ponder subconsciously, even if he knew the only true answer was by directly asking. But he knew not how to even phrase such a question, or if it were all not just his mere imagination taking flight. It was much better to put such thoughts away. She gave her condolences to his loss of a first team, and made mention to knowing that not every team lasted. While it could be interpreted as an impartial fact, something for Chase made him think it was of a more personal matter. He was not sure why, but it felt more of experience than mere wisdom by her words. 'Was she ever a Huntsman?' Chase pondered to himself, never quite having envisioned her as the type of person to be one. Not due to any lack of pre-requisites, from the little he knew of her he was certain she had many tricks up her sleeve that were not apparent. It was just... hard to figure out all of them, to him at least. Questions sprang forth of why she was here and not one currently, or what happened to her team, but he suppressed them for now. He was not the type to be nosy and dig into others past, not unless he truly felt comfortable with the person and even then only if it seemed like it was alright. Which he was unsure of how it was for Dr. Lenz, so he took the safe route of not inquiring further.
                                      It was then he would notice her walk over to a wooden bench, and motion for him to join her. He would comment first on her garden along with his question of her own well being first before he made a move to there. Mostly out of slight nervousness. 'Is it truly alright to be so trusting?' He thought for a moment, his other side casting a shadow of doubt but he pushed it aside and slowly strode over to her. His eyes would glance between her and the seat, in a slight mental panic. 'How close do I sit besides her?' He wondered, seeing that he could potentially sit a bit farther from her rather than be right next to her... but he was torn. While that would be the more comfortable option, he did not know if it would be impolite to do so. 'She trusts me enough to be alone with me... or perhaps she knows she can easily best me...' He thought, his mind a constant swirl of opposites and extremes balanced with rationality. In the end, as he reached it, he acted on instinct... and with a deep exhale he gingerly sat besides her. He had seen her smile before, the last thought in his mind when he chose his seat. The last push to allow him to sit near to her. 'For better or worse.' He thought with a slight mental laugh of worry, not willing to voice it. For a moment, his eyes stayed downcast in front of him till he heard her begin to speak... and he was able to look again at her. Noticing her relaxed if proper posture, making him do something of a similar vein, he did relax and had the shadow of a smile to his lips as he heard all was well for her as he looked on with the same attentiveness she gave him.
                                      She even spoke a little of her job in keeping others well, making Chase believe she was having good success with all her patients so far. Which was a good thing, as he told the quiet whispers in his mind. He hoped to be able to help too some day... today maybe depending what she desired of him. She would also mention Freya being good as well, which was a comforting thought. He had not forgotten the bird in his absence, and was hoping to maybe interact with her more. 'Animals... are much more comforting than people.' He silently thought to himself. Even the ones that seemed to be ill omen to some or seen negatively. They all had their own beauty... and beauty of the dark, morbid kind, seem to draw him in the most. He would be broken from such musings though as he heard Dr. Lenz voice curiosity. He would become more attentive, with curiosity in his eyes as he listened. She would ask how much he knew about plants with a kind yet sincere smile... and seem to ponder things herself. Chase took a moment, his eyes drifting over to her garden while also seeming to be staring at something else entirely. Thoughts rapidly flashed through his mind. Of the forest. Of herbs. Of blood and wounds. Of the curses, the fear, the stench of sickness. Of pushing through it, creating poultices. Making simple edible remedies, or using oils. All came to him in the span of ten seconds as he would speak slowly if more calmly and relaxed. "I know they have many medical properties. That some are good as poultices, some for their oils, others can be ingested. That it can be used to keep someone alive and treat them." He would pause, as if breaking from a trance for a moment and shake his head a little. "But I only know... simple stuff. That they are calming and nice at times." He would say with slight embarrassment to him. He knew not why he had zoned out so much earlier, and was hoping it was not noticed. He wasn't quite sure all he could say about them, or if she wanted specifics from him. But since they were going back and forth with questions... He would slowly look to her again. "Will you... teach me on... on how to identify and use all of them?" He asked, becoming a little nervous at the request but genuinely curious. His question was sincere, and interest in such things was very evident. There was also a bit of... respect, awe, even he wasn't quite sure. But it was something of the lines of him trusting her and desiring to learn from her, seeing her as the best source of knowledge available. He knew this was a natural healing type of place, so he figured these herbs and plants would be integral. Naturally, with how his mind worked, he desired to learn that as quickly as possible. The thought to ask her if she were ever a huntsman crossed his mind, but he would save it for another time.
Dr. Lenz had not noticed his looks of curiosity as she had made mention of teams and their breaking apart sometimes. Whether it was due to her focus being on his speaking or just that her eyes were turned to the garden, it was not clear though before she would sit. She wanted him to tell her more, so she could hear how he was doing. Something about this young man had her feeling protective of him, and knowing he was okay gave her peace. If she had more time to think about it, it might unnerve her. But her care for him did not bother her, not now at least.
She was patient as he paused to her offer of a seat. It was not something that was the norm for either of them; not in a social setting for her at least. Dr. Lenz was used to only sitting beside her patients as casually, but this socializing was only temporary. Besides, sitting here, one could see most of the garden's flora with ease. It was also where she felt comfortable enough to answer his questions in turn. Speaking of her activities since last they met, she spoke of tending to her patients, and her gardens. A gentle smile crossed her lips as she finished.
Speak of the Devil. She thought amusedly. As if summoned, the black feathered avian, Freya would fly down and land gently on the bench beside the young man. This would be before she would ask of his knowledge of plants. It worked it seemed as he was silent for quite some time.
She was patient though and looked out towards her garden and its organized yet wild uniformity. Each path between the patches would take you to different sections. Each healed different issues one might have. Her thoughts were interrupted as Chase began to speak again. His answer seemed to please her as a small smile curved her lips.
"Very good. You know more than most," The doctor replied, satisfied. He should do well in assisting. Drac then would turn towards her volunteer when he started to look up and meet her eyes. "Yes?" Dr. Lenz asked calmly before he would ask his question. That...was not something she was really expecting to be asked. The young doctor turned, a pondering expression on her features as she looked to her gardens. Finally, she would look to him with a small nod. It should not be too much trouble... "I don't see why not. You shall learn them as you care for the garden," Dr. Lenz replied then looked serious once more. "But know that your studies for Beacon come first. But while you are here, I am trusting you with each plant's care," Dr.Lenz told him sternly, before telling him what the boy was to do to help the clinic.
