Ayame silently traced the wolves on her bracer before looking up as Daichi and Oroiki chased each other through the grass. Well it was more so the large camouflaged snake hiding and waiting while the large wolf pounced. "Daichi don't be too rough." Daichi barked, batting at the snake, as Oroiki wrapped himself around Daichi's neck. The wolf trotted over and nosed his tamer in the cheek, "I would never hurt my snake brother." Oroiki nodded before nuzzling Ayame as well, "Jussst play, before things." Ayame scratched them both under the chin, "Is Manda going to be ok?" "It isss time for the new to come in. We've been around for a long time, and others are impatient. We'll ssstill be around." Ayame chuckled, "I suppose. Daichi would you lead the way to Kya please." Daichi nodded, "Maybe she has treats!" Oroiki made his way to Ayame's shoulders as Daichi sniffed his way around the temple. He perked his head up when he caught an all too familiar scent. Ayame smiled as he looked back at her and she nodded. Daichi took off before barreling into the area where he smelled her. When he saw everyone gathered he slowed to a walk not wanting to embarrass or upset Kya. As he passed by Kya he nudged her shoulder in greeting before sitting behind Sonyo and laying his head on her shoulder. Ayame walked in behind him Oroiki still wrapped around her shoulders, "I apologize for interrupting."

αKya didn't bother to move any at all when Kaoru spoke. It took her for a loop, but she wasn't sure exactly what to expect would happen here. Her planned moment for revitalizing Sonyo had been entirely interrupted by their presence, and it didn't appear as though either dog nor owner actually wanted anything specific. No matter, the woman was very much a believer in going with the flow and as such sat with one leg crossed under her other. She, as per the norm, ran her hands down the length of her hand as Kanzaki lit a cigarette. She formed a seal and fire popped in a cinder at the center of it, blowing it away and possibly burning his face. "Children come here Kanzaki. Do not smoke in my temple." With that done she offered a scract behind the ears of Kaoru. Her eyes caught sight of the Great Snake, her Wolf and the snake with her. The wolf came slowly up and sat behind Kya. She at one time was no fan of animals, but life had led her to new schools of thought.
The statue to Kortal Kahn, Jashin, behind her was a testament to that. The Truth Bearer scratched behind Daichi's ear as well asAyame and Oriki came within speaking distance of the group and Kya motioned for her to come up on stage. Now it was a party. "How could you ever?" she responded before offering a hand to help her up if she needed. "How fairs the Great Snake Sage?" Kya asked wondering what brought her here.

The dog ran circles around them, Kaoru huh? Sonyo made an excited noise, watching the dog as it came to a rest beside Kanzaki. She didn't answer the dog's question, she was too enraptured by the fact that it could speak and comprehend human speech. There were only a few such animals that smart, and she wasn't surprised that a canine was amongst them. She listened to Kaoru and Kanzaki banter back and forth before a familiar wolf caught her attention. Daichi made his way over to them, and a heaviness and happiness filled her heart. She rested her hand on Daichi's large snout, petting him, tears gathering in her eyes. It took her a moment, but then her thoughts connected. If Daichi was here then...
Ayame passed through the doorway and Sonyo let out a soft breath, almost like the wind had been gently knocked out of her. Ayame was here, she was awake, she was okay... The young female took an unsure step forward, moving from out under the head of the giant wolf, then another.. then she began to sprint to Ayame before finishing her gait in the biggest hug that she could manage, burying her face in to the woman's shoulder. Ayame was alive! She hadn't heard much about her previous kage or her companion after she went MIA, that kind of information never made it out as far as she had hidden.
Her eyes, her throat, her heart burned. Not everyone had been lost... Her family was still here, still survived, still lived and breathed and forged their own paths. Sonyo fought away tears, she knew Ayame wouldn't want her to cry but she was so happy... "You're okay..." She managed to croak out, gripping at the older woman's clothes. "You and Daichi... you're okay.. I... I wasn't sure... I.. " The words stuck in her throat, choking her.

Ayame took the hand that was offered and had just righted herself before she was tackled by Sonyo. She braced her legs to keep herself from falling and Oroiki situated himself more comfortably on her shoulders. Daichi went back to Kya and nuzzled her shoulder before sitting beside her watching his tamer and the young snow queen. Ayame put her hands on Sonyo's cheeks and wiped away what had fallen, "Yes little one, I'm fine." She kissed the young woman's temple, "I owe all to Kya, she kept me alive and kept that big puppy over there company." She hugged Sonyo close, "I am glad to see your face." She then looked at Kya and smiled keeping Sonyo in her arms, "I am well Kya, almost back to full strength." She said before getting straight to the point, "I want to hand over snake sage to you. They sense a change, as do I. It's time to pass things on, make way for the new." She lifted a hand and scratched Oroiki under his chin, "I will still be around to help whenever need be, but I think it's time for you to take up the mantle."
""Well there ain't any kids here now. Bad enough you crippled me once already. Gotta blow s**t up in my face."Kanzaki clicked his fingers when a wolf walked in, Kaoru sitting down and licking her tail while he scratched behind her ears.

αKya blinked her eyes rapidly when she heard the words from Ayame, and it seemed she wasn't the only one. Her siblings, all eavesdropping even though Kya had specifically asked them not to, came rolling around the corner with their mouths agape. "Ayame... that's... wow." Her face rolled from surprised to prideful to concerned and back again rapidly while she decided on a proper response. "Thank you. We will not let you down." Kya rolled her body side to side before leaping from the stage and clearing half of the room. "Kanzaki, when you're done being on the floor, there are children to train. You might yet find an apprentice. Sonyo, we will speak again another time hopefully." WIth that, Kya left.

Sonyo was content to stay by Ayame's side for a while, before she realized she had been in another village for a while without seeing the kage. She swore fairly loudly under her breath before she followed behind Kya and made her way to the Kage's office.

"Apprentice? I can't even find a place to smoke!."He shouted as she left, apparently nothing here for him. Why was he even brought to her in the first place? Did she outrank him again, or was he the village nutjob now? Prolly the latter. Clicking his fingers he bade Kaoru along, and they departed for adventures.

Six Vortex Operatives, along with their squad leader, made their way to the Temple of the guards. Each of the three squad members held onto a piece of wire that bound either Taylor or Horus. There were three operatives on both the boy and the beast. Shinsei, however, remained untethered. "Captain Kya will speak to you shortly." The man said once they entered the sacred temple. He was not one for small talk.

Though the journey was brief, it was uncomfortable. Being paraded by a troupe of Vortex officers, alongside a boy and his avian companion strung along helplessly, was not a source of considerable pride for the shinobi. Regardless, none of that was going to change. The only way to relieve themselves of this situation was to act in accordance with what the Vortex operatives wanted. And, speaking of those operatives, he was informed of their leader as they arrived. Captain Kya. He wasn't certain as to whether or not he should feel lucky or endangered -- the woman had, from the very beginning, seemed equally alluring as she was dangerous. She had the temperament of someone capable of great brutality. He knew that; he could feel it in his bones, through each breath that touched his skin.
This was... a fearsome moment.
"Kya," he whispered. When she first came -- whenever and however that was -- he would speak only a few quiet words. "Mentorship still on offer?" Shinsei asked, sarcastically.
αAt the head of the Vortex, Kya sat with one leg folded under the other inside of a rather auspicious and dimly lit room. Behind her, the great head of a serpent, emblazened and golden, two wide open eyes that seemed to peer dauntlessly across the room, right down into the boy who had been brought in almost entirely at her behest. Fresh off of surgery was the woman, flanked by a sister removing the bandages from light sensitive eyes, and the moment she was done, the girl took a step away as Kya opened the dauntless orbs that bore the symbol of power. The weight of the room, of her looking down from on high, a full set of stairs above with a heavy necklace of red smokey orbs at her neck was, incredible. She administered Taylor and Shinsei the moment they were brought into the temple. She took a deep breath, exhaling with an unflinching gaze that was remnant of a King Cobra.
Quite indeed, the King's Crown weighed heavily.
"Speak out of turn again, and I will feed you to my children," she threatened in concert with a hissing that seemed to emanate from... was that above? Behind? Either way it was clear that Kya was far from in a joking mood. "You offend me, Shinsei, to think you could leave to join your little cabal of shinobi outside the walls of Uzu, to ally with those who made enemies of us and simply stroll back in with one and think me appeased." She flared her nostrils and adjusted in her seat. "And even worse..." she chided as the doors opened once more, and a group flowed in behind them. Kya stood, steam rising from her form, the temperature rising as the pyres and braziers leading up to her perch went from orange to a deep, glowing black that turned the room a monotony of grayish black. Her gaze was behind him as she spoke. "And behind you, this abomination!" She grit her teeth, bearing hollow fangs that had no venom inside of them. "Explain yourself, IMMEDIATELY."

Behind her, with her hands bound together, was the visage of a very small trio of women, and quite the specimen of a man. She licked her lips, clearly unmoved by the display of power and... gaudiness before her. The power was undeniable... she would likely be killed if she fought her now but her attitude couldn't be stifled while her psyche was shattered such as it was now. Sevastiana, the Deva, chuckled a bit while Jaeng-i stood still, sensing the emotions in the room and finding nothing about the situation humorous. Mugen flared his own nose at his captors, and then Kya who dared look down upon the very proof of perfection's existence. Falsa looked... tired. Emotionally exhausted and mentally distracted though she did sort of shake it when she found present company. "Oh. Brother. Why hello~" she absolutely cooed. As if that wasn't bad enough, the other paths each looked to him in surprise, fooling Kya naught with the facsimile of life. ""

Speak out of turn and--
No. That.... wasn't quite right, was it? He wouldn't allow her to shape the story to be something that it wasn't. If anything, learning that she was yet unaware of his activities and motives - despite being a Vortex officer - was a very great boon to him. This meant that, in many ways, he wasn't on the back foot. She was as blind to his world as he was to hers.
And without hesitation, he would explain. He didn't lie, and didn't attempt to. There was no reason.
"I didn't leave to join anything. If you're referring to the Kogarashi, I actively avoided them. I reported them to Chie for a reason -- because they were belligerent. I don't support the propagation of even more war and violence. So why would I join them?" Shinsei asked her, rhetorically. And that led to Taylor - someone caught in the middle of both grand powers.
"This boy... Taylor... is no longer a part of the Kogarashi. They have declared him anathema, for . . ." he paused, clearing his throat. He didn't want to muddy the truth with his half-certainties. If he remembered correctly, then... it was for something that would have helped to clear his name. "For defending a shinobi of Uzushiogakure. Though I cannot remember his name, or maybe I've never heard it." And then, there was so much more to explain. So many... mental endeavors to delve into. Where could he begin? From where did one start to clear their name of all the many tepid allegations that had formed?
He did not know. Shinsei would start with the basics.
"I have no desire to return to Uzushio permanently," he stated. "But I did not leave with any malicious intentions, nor will I ever turn my weapon to the shinobi of Uzu. This place took my family in as refugees after the fall of Konoha, and I will never forget--"
The door opened.
Someone followed, and though she was his sister, the first feature he noticed before even their kinship was the fatigue. She had been led and lumbered across many vast fields and foregrounds, held like a caged animal only to be presented helplessly before a predator.
The shinobi... frowned. Not because he felt negative by seeing her, but by her accommodations. The forsaken expression she wore did not belong to her face, though as she glanced to him surprisingly, he smiled faintly and waved a quiet 'hello'.
"Never thought I would see you like that," he whispered, referring to her bindings. He wondered of the other people, and who they were.
Taylor allowed Shinsei to speak first. Kya terrified him to his core. He listened to him deliver the truth about their situation. When he finished, Taylor finally spoke. βI have no alliance to them. I severed it the moment that a key member of their group threatened my friend.β Taylor made direct eye contact to prove his sincerity. βBeforehand I was only an ally to their cause because I was found by them. I donβt mean to indulge in personal trials, but had I lost all memories of my past. They provided me with a direction. However, now that I am free of them, I hold no more loyalty to their dishonesty. Especially after they tried to kill me.β He finished speaking and then went silent. He was not familiar with the other woman, but Shinsei apparently had a relationship to her. Horus meanwhile looked unsettled with the wires which wrapped around his giant hawk body.

Sonyo had somehow found her way back to the temple, as if her soul ached for the silence and tranquility that filled the place. One she stepped over the threshold of the area, it was like she could breathe deeper. The young woman made her way to an empty part of the many fields and sat down. Many vortex members looked at her oddly, and she just waved with a half-hearted smile. She definitely didn't match the attire here, that was for sure. But! She came here for meditation, not for self-deprecation. Sonyo set Nari across her lap lengthwise so that her hands rested softly on the blade, then closed her eyes.
The smell of the air here was different, it wasn't dry and warm like her memories would lead her to expect. No here it was crisp and calm, and smelled of evergreen. Sonyo let out a long but soft breath, her shoulders letting loose of the weight they had been carrying. Within a few moments, she was in her inner mind, staring down the length of a grand cathedral which held a giant ball of sand at the end, tied in chains of kanji that glowed with a faint light. IT took a moment, but the sand tanuki finally awoke and took shape. Lines of Kanji still ran it's body, mixing with it's azure markings, but now it had a head and appendages. Beige eyes that bore diamonds stared back in to her own, and a soft cackling filled her mind.

αA solid, cold hand touched the bare shoulder of Kya, right above freshly perforated skin where new ink was still healing, and her head snapped to face Na'chal so fast it may have looked like someone tried to break her neck. Words were exchanged into her ear, quick, curt, quiet and in the now dusky glow of black light, it would be impossible to track the words that came from his mouth. All the while still, one eye kept in their direction, listening as each of them pleaded their case. Sumiko would have been useful, if she were here to say anything at all, but she wasn't and that was unfortunate. Still the fury would be far from quelled as all at once she turned her attention to the new girl present who had called Shinsei brother. Her vision focused on her for longer than a few seconds, and then her eyes snapped open, body obscured in a red glow emanating from the pearls adorning her neck, similar in size to tangerines. The boy who had spoke to her, bearing a striking resemblance to her, seemed to shift in place, ready to move at a simple order.
As was her nature, Kya wished to move upon and destroy this girl. A flared nostril came before the fires in the room seemed to morph back, blindingly bright in a flash, and in that second Falsa fell to her knees. Kya turned her attention to Taylor before she spoke of it. "Be all of this as it may, history has taught me better than to overlook the weird or out of place. Uzu will not become another Konoha. Nava!" she called. An agent appeared standing ahead of the group in a fast movement, something like a Shunshin that left burning leaves in her wake. Not so fast she couldn't be tracked but so deliberate that it would be surprising if everyone DIDN'T feel startled by her sudden appearance. Her back was turned, and how she stood with her feet spread at least 20 inches apart and snake gauntlet bearing hands met behind her, it would be clear whom she answered to. Creeping over her shoulder? A snake tattoo that seemed to flare with the fire of the brazier nearest her left shoulder. "I want the blond interrogated on the Kogarashi. Squeeze every drop of knowledge. I do not expect you will be met with much resistance... but you have my permission to handle this." When Nava turned her head to look, she bore her older sister's visage, short in stature sure but no less terrifying as her three tomoe slowly rotated and she sized up Taylor and his bird. "By your will," she nodded back to Kya, and then turned towards Horus. She took the binding holding the bird and loosened it just a bit. "Such cruelty toward animals. This is why none of you are ever going to be promoted. Taylor. Come with me." She led him away from the room they had been brought into, and before the large door was opened, she formed a seal, casting a genjutsu over him to darken his view. At the least, he and the bird would be denied the ability to percieve their surroundings until she sat him in another room, this one smaller, a few hundred paces away and down a flight of stairs. She motioned to the seat before him, as she motioned towards the two way mirror in the hidden interrogation center. "Two VORTEX shinobi wait behind that glass with the bird. Don't get cute, nothing happens," she warned in a tone too high for her to be any older than Taylor, but her dauntless orbs still caried Kya's demanor. She at least smiled. "So, let's start from the beginning then. Exactly WHO are the Kogarashi?"
Meanwhile...
Kya was stuck in quite the connundrum. On the one hand, this girl bore the eyes that the Naka shrine warned went against the very flow of the universe. Necromancy... a grasp over life and death that should never be allowed. The sacred texts had always drew a line between immortality and ressurection: even the immortal met an end. But the end would come and be final. To stand in the way of that grand design? To deny one's ability to truly return to the tide and be reborn naturally was a mockery.
She should kill them both.
Who would question her decision to do so but Chie, Sanae and perhaps Nava in her naivety?
But... she did so abhor the situation.
The mental torture the girl had been subjected to within the Tsukuyomi? The bindings upon her and her... vessels? It struck her as foul. Even worse, her grasp on Kinesics told her that, indeed, Shinsei was surprised to see her. This was not some grand plan... but rather a horrendus coincidence. The crime the little girl had committed simply by being born as she was was separate from Shinsei's claim to wish to leave, but there was little doubt these two would come together as siblings do.
And she could respect that to a degree. Shinsei wanted not for war, for anguish. At least not to Uzushiogakure. That was amicable and she could, in more than a few ways, be appeased by this.
So what was this feeling in her pit? Like history was repeating and the lesson was being ignored? Why did it feel like she needed to burn his body to cinders? Like in a past iteration of their existence in this very situation, though the roles had been altered, she had chosen to allow this corruption to spread? She could hear a voice, so close to his own. Taunting. What was it saying? What had it said? "Before, and now, you were never anything to me but a signature on a sheet of paper. Which, however, means that my contempt for you is so vast that I don't need to consider you my enemy."
A response to something else later? In her own voice... but so much more fraile and full of intrigue that didn't match how she styled herself now. "You should consider this a lucky break. You may have never met a challenge you couldn't face before today, but I know you just as well as you know me. And that knowledge is both as defeating as it is empowering." And how had Shinsei responded in this other world bordering on crashing into this one through her?
"You can't outplay me, Kya. I invented the game."
She snapped her eyes shut, the overlapping of voices and her active imagination shutting down entirely before she once again regarded him, this time as he was and not how they at one time were.
"This girl is an abomination, Shinsei, and something deep inside of my core tells me that you are as well. Or once were. I can see it in your chakra like a mold growing inside of a coffee maker. I style myself a vessel of god first, formost and only, and that is why I have decided to kill you, right here. So that the echoes of torment in my blood and the back of my heart can be quieted. But, I have come to a position where such reckless annihilation is frowned upon, disadvantageous and useless. And I admittedly took a liking before you went AWOL, so I am discouraged from parting your soul from the physical realm." She went to sit, her eyes spinning down to their dull browns, lacking in a miniscule amount of their light as she ignored the sting, the blood running down from the corner. She gestured, and the webs were removed from Falsa and her clones, frozen in place. "But know this. You are under the gaze of more than just a blowhard with lofty titles. Give me any reason at all, and you both will come below the Mother's Wrath. All that lives, swims shinsei. Swim well, until you can swim no more." Immediately following that admission of Falsa's safety Na'Chal returned to his work, a bamboo stick and ink on a table behind her at the top of the stairs that led... somewhere pricking into her skin rapidly to no response from her at all.

Notes:
It wasn't falsa that answered, as the girl smiled up Kya, but rather the girl with the bobcut in her black hair, big circular eyes running over him relaying all the physical changes to Falsa through shared vision."Well, they made a compelling arguement. What the hell brings you here? Oh, I'm Sevastiana, by the by." Even her whisper was bubbly, full of jovial glee to a T. That was, until suddenly she froze up, smile now a line where the full lips were barely, just barely parted as if she were having trouble relaying Falsa's words. Falsa herself had been watching Kya keenly, scrutinizing her chakra gates, wondering at what point she'd be trying to fend for her life. Rather, all at once the room faded, and she found herself upside down, ankles and wrists bound though the later freely swung. Her eyes couldn't see chakra, none of her innate skill seemed to be responding. In fact, she felt nothing at all until something slowly began to pierce the back of her chest. An eternity must have past, unable to scream, unable to move in the world of inverted colors, only seeing slowly moving clouds as if in slow motion. When at last she was permitted to black out, it was only for everything to reset, and this time two blades to pierce... half as fast. Once more, it looped until it got to the seventh run.
On the outside, she simply fell a second after the skill had taken root, panting, fighting for breath more like, as Kya spoke to Shinsei. One thing was for sure... Kya hadn't appreciated how tauntingly the girl administered the Vortex commander. Lesson... learned... At the end of the Queen's Speech, she stood and looked to shinsei, Mugen glaring at Kya, Jaeng-i pulling him to stop it while Sevastiana and Falsa both smirked at him, thought he latter had begun to sweat. "I'd like to be anywhere else before her hospitality ends," she spoke up to her older brother once her bindings were cut loose.
