Kenna scratched Cassie behind the ears before she ran to the front. She looked to Kieran."I'm talking about a job, earning money. Carlson won't hire me because I am still a student, but I know he needs the help. That's why I try to volunteer as much as I can, but I know he needs someone regular coming in. The dogs seem to like you, so that's a plus. The cats are themselves. They like you for a minute and they are done."Kenna grabbed a bag of dog food and walked around checking bowls of food and water, filling the food as she went."Can you grab the empty water bowls and fill them with that sink over there. Once you fill the water, you can close the kennel."

Kieran followed Kenna and started filling up water bowls. Upon hearing her mention something about a job, he nodded a little. 'I do need to start earning some money. This could be a great place to start.'"A job you say. Well, I could use the money." When Kenna mentioned cats, he couldn't help but chuckle a little. "I was never too good when it came to cats. It was most likely because of the wings. They probably thought I was some sort of bird."
Kenna smiled."Cats are strange, but you will have to work with them."She led him to the Cat Room when they were finished with the dogs."These cats usually keep to themselves. They each have their own litter box so that will have to be cleaned out. And they have their own bowls. To top everything off, each cat has their own dietary needs. Thanks to Carlson's ingenious idea, usually all the cats on each row have similar to same dietary needs. So I generally do a row at time."Kenna smiled."Also, the cats have their own outdoor time about an hour before their visitations open."

Carlson walked in as Kenna was giving the details."Giving someone the ropes? You looking to volunteer Kieran? Or maybe Kenna has convinced you to apply?"Carlson smiled."If you want to work here, consider it done. If Kenna thinks you are up to it, then I trust her."It would be nice to have some help in the store. It would be nice to have someone to come help for a while or come open the store if he needed to go search for some more rescues.

Kieran followed Kenna to the Cat Room and looked around. He wasn't exactly used to so many cats in one place. 'I just hope that they don't try to attack me. It's a good thing I've got my ghost wings. I can't learn to fly on messed up wings.' Before he could another word, he heard Carlson's voice. In truth, he was thinking about accepting the job. His funds were quite minimal after all. "I was thinking about it. You know what. I think that I will accept. I can't have Michaella doing everything for me. It's not like I have anything better to do or planning on going anywhere for a while."'Maybe it will help me find where I belong.'
Carlson smiled and motioned for Kieran to follow."Come with me to my office and we can talk numbers and such. Of course, once you are through here."Carlson smirked when Kenna waved them both off. Kenna was fast at preparing the cats' food so he knew she would be done by the time they were."Then let's head to my office and we can have a chat before the next customer comes in."

Kenna smiled and waved the two boys off."Go. I got this handled. Plus I can hear the front so I can handle a customer when they come in. Go."She smiled at Kieran. She was happy that he would have a place where he could fit in. Carlson would treat Kieran with the love and care that she had received from Carlson herself. Carlson was like a big brother to her and he has helped her so many times, that the least she could do was volunteer her time to help him out. But with Kieran working her, she wondered if she could still volunteer. She would enjoy her time with Kieran....she liked being with him.

Kieran nodded and followed Carlson. He had a lot to learn and he didn't want to waste time. It also meant that he got to see Kenna more often. 'It never hurts to try something new.'"Sounds good to me. Explain to me something. This whole boyfriend thing. What is it exactly?" For a few seconds, he glanced back at Kenna and smiled a little. 'What am I feeling?'
Carlson led Kieran to his office and sat down."So when a girl and a boy are together, and I am talking about they want to be together, they are called boyfriend and girlfriend, in short, they are dating. They have a relationship, they are in love...I am gonna tell it to you straight. Kenna is a great girl. If she wasn't way younger than me or like a little sister to me, I would have jumped at the chance. Kenna needs someone in her life that will accept her as she is. If you love her, then ask her out....don't string her along."Carlson fiddled on his computer before his printer sprang to life and printed out an application."But let's talk business for a moment. I really need help in the morning hours and into early afternoon....say open to about 3 pm. I can pay you about $15/hour and you get paid every 2 weeks."

Kieran walked into the office and looked around. It was definitely different from other places he had seen. "Dating huh. Kenna saved my life. Besides, we only just met the other day. She's just a friend." He looked at the computer and jumped upon taking notice to the printer. 'Well that's something I've never seen before.'"I can help out anytime."
Carlson looked him in the eyes."Everyone starts as friends....but some develop to more than just friends. Others just know right away that the other person is who they want to be with the rest of their life. All I am saying, is, if you like being around Kenna, maybe taking the next step isn't a bad idea."Carlson looked through the application and marked some places for Kieran to fill out."If you could just put your name and the date where there is an "X" and put the school down as the address where there is a circle, then that should be all. I can fill in the other details. How about starting tomorrow?"Carlson hear the door open and looked out to see Kenna talking with the customers.

Kieran looked down a little and gripped his arm. It was true that he liked spending time with Kenna, but he wan't about to let himself fall in love. "Even if I wanted to, I couldn't be with her like that. It would be too dangerous." He quietly filled out what he needed to and glanced back at Kenna. 'She is a great friend.' When asked if he could start tomorrow, he turned his attention back to Carlson. "Sounds good to me."
Carlson smirked."Then you don't know Kenna. Kenna is from a world where no one is safe. She's been fighting danger since she was old enough to hold a keyblade, and I am not jealous of her for it. So she know how to take care of herself. I understand, but don't underestimate the matters of the heart. Sometimes love makes one stronger, not weaker. Do what you gotta do, but don't let it drag on. Being strung along is a major "no-no" for the female kind."Carlson smiled and placed a note on his application so he could finish it later."I don't have a uniform, so wear whatever is comfortable to move in. Although, you will have to wear an apron while you are here working so that would be about it. Do you have any questions for me?"Carlson asked.

Kieran nodded and tried to smile a little. "I'll have to remember that. Kenna shouldn't have to be dragged into my problems. Then again, she became part of it when she saved me. I got demons and angels after me." When asked if he had any other questions, he shook his head. "I think that I have things figured out."
Carlson nodded."Then you shouldn't have too much to worry about. Kenna can hold her own in a fight. Anyways, now I need to somehow convince her to ask me for Cassie."Carlson smiled at Kieran."Cassie whines when Kenna leaves, so I can't think of anyone I would want to adopt Cassie than her.....maybe you could help in that."Carlson looked over to Kieran hoping he would get the hint.

"I hope you're right." Kieran said. "Kenna will have to be strong against the ones hunting me. I suggest you be careful as well. These hunters will use anyone against me. And they won't hesitate to kill either." When Carlson mentioned Cassie, he smiled. "I can talk to Michaella and see if it's alright. There shouldn't be any problems. Kenna should have a companion like Cassie."
Carlson pointed to Kieran."Now I can't have an employee worry about my life now. The ones we care for are the animals. And your desire to protect should be about protecting them."Carlson smiled and relaxed."I've also helped train Kenna so I know she can hold herself. And I am no push over either. And thanks for talking to Michaella."Carlson glanced over to a photo that was taken of him, another guy, and two girls."If Michaella has any questions about it, just mention me. My parents used to work at the Academy before I was old enough to go through the Academy myself. So Michaella knows me quite well."
