Mel rounded the corner and barely caught something dissipating. A wave of relief washed over her then and she made her careful approach, only managing a wave before something else stepped out from the darkness. Her eyes widened, mostly out of fear and only somewhat out of shock at this point--but this wasn't the first time some form of a big bad green baddie came out to attack them.
Compared to the others her reaction was much slower, but she did eventually take hold of her fishing rod and moved in to take a whack at the thing. They were all calling it October, but it looked nothing like their Head of Security. At least not to her, so she had no trouble taking a nice good swing at it.

The old man grunted. No, he wasn't undying. Yet. His head felt clearer now that nobody had exploded on him, and a nagging thought started up at the back of his mind... maybe he did need these youngsters all along. He certainly wasn't getting any younger. Or any more sane.
Suddenly the creature appeared, all thorny vines and darkness and... that unnerving grin, reminding Mr. Nordskov of that hallucination back in the mists with all those smiling bodies. It clubbed at him with one long, lazy arm, and the old man sunk his knife into the dark flesh.
He heard someone call out that one kid's name, the one who 'led' their division while wanting to do nothing more than sit around on his butt. Mr. Nordskov scowled harder, searching for familiarity in the monster while it attacked.

Despite this solitary attitude he has little desire to see anyone hurt. Seriously at least. Physically, the 60 year old is tall, well muscled with arms like tree trunks, sporting a bristly woodsman beard and piercing blue eyes glaring out from under bushy eyebrows.
Alex hated thinking of attacking his friend but October hit hard, and hitting hard wasn't nice.
"Hey..Hey man, Remember I held your head in my lap and gave you pets!" Alex demanded, "You don't be swiping at me sir!" and he took the net, smacking it around the arm. Anything to stop October from hitting more.

In the midst of the fight she noticed that the group of them were actually from Clearview. It gave her pause to consider greeting them, maybe even question why they were trying to talk to it, but a vine lashed out to open up a fresh new wound in her arm before she could. She took the hit wincing but bit down on her lower lip to keep from audibly crying out. Instead she steeled herself and charged in for one final swing.

As the barrage of attacks came raining down onto him, the creature buckled, letting out little moans of despair. The blackness swirled and then ebbed the weaker he became, and then there, as though the shadows were merely ink or water, they simply sloughed off, then disappeared, leaving behind the very familiar, very disoriented figure of October Flynn behind.
"Oh," he said dazedly, swaying unsteadily. "Well, then."
And then he promptly collapsed, knocking into a pile of fishing poles in the process.
Nearly dropping the umbrella still in her grasp, Brie blinked, trying to digest what just happened. "O-October..?" Was it really him?
Stepping towards him, she reached out, touching him lightly on the shoulder. "Are- are you okay?" Was he he hurt? They all did just kind of pummel him just now.

Alex felt much better. As if clarity ran through his blood again. He felt clean.
When the creature collapsed, Sho could only watch as the darkness eventually disappeared. Sho immediately rushed over to the other side where Brie and Alex weren't, picking up October without hesitation. Checking his pulse, his breathing, all of his vital signs. He was alive. Exhausted but alive none the less.
For a human being to come back from the darkness, what exactly was it..? No, he could debate that later. All he could be was thankful that October was saved.
Breathing a sigh of relief, he set October back down on the ground. Then he realized the voices, the hallucinations- they were all gone? The illness that had plagued his mind -- all of their minds -- had disappeared, leaving behind only clarity. He had been feeling much better than ever since entering the strange hospital.

Renita lowered her knife with a gasp, staring in quiet confusion. The way the shadows had just slid off of him like that, was that...? Was that a normal thing that could happen? Well, okay, nothing about this could ever be normal, but- She shook her head before the thought process could go off kilter, because she'd spent entirely too much of her time following mad ideas today already.
"Is he alright?" She started to move closer to check, but chose not to as Alex joined Brie. Instead she nudged a fishing rod out of their way with a foot, a little puzzled by their presence but not willing to question it in light of all she'd just seen. "I hope we didn't hit too hard, or..." She wasn't sure or what, so she let the sentence trail off.

Mr. Nordskov glared. Good thing the lazy kid made for a lazy undead, or they would have been in real trouble. He crouched down and grabbed October's arm in a no-nonsense manner, inspecting for signs of injury. He had definitely attacked that arm with his knife, and it wasn't like there were any 'Dispelling the Undying for Dummies' books to help them along in this venture.
Last thing he wanted was for the kid to bleed out now.

Mel was holding up her fishing rod like a two-handed sword, ready to strike at the thing one more time when the shadows started sloughing off to reveal...
"October?" she asked, a sudden clarity coming over her. Not that she would complain or anything, but she was a bit curious and still worried that it would come back. Slowly the fishing rod came down and she approached, offering a wary smile to the others as she looked on at the unconscious Head of Security. It was a relief that Sho was among them, him being a doctor and all.
"Is he...alright?" came her question, and in a soft voice. So that thing was October? Did that mean that Zelda was also running around in such a condition? She swallowed a lump that had formed in her throat.

He gave a groan and would have just rolled over and tried to sleep, had not it been for both Dr. Shouichi snatching him up to check his vitals and then Mr. Nordskov grabbing his arm. October flapped his hand rather uselessly, trying to free himself without actually putting forth the effort to do so and move.
"Is it bedtime yet?" October grumbled, and finally forced his eyes the rest of the way open, catching sight of Brie, Alex, Renita, and Mel leaning over him, most of their expressions ones of concern and worry. He squinted, as though it was too bright -
- and then promptly tried to lay back down again.
"Giant sleep cuddle pile, let's go," he mumbled. Clearly he was fine. Mostly.

Making sure to give them space as they checked over his well-being, Brie let out a small sigh of relief as a laugh escaped her lips when he asked to sleep. "It's definitely him." She couldn't say for sure how the rest of her faction was doing, but everyone here was safe, especially those most precious to her.
At October's words, the girl smiled, pulling him, Alex, Sho and anyone else she could into a large hug. "I'm so relieved..!"
Alex gave the doctor and grumpy old man the room to do what they needed to do.
Once he was drawn into the hug, there was a loud audible laugh. He felt normal again, not crazy. Not infected. Not mad.
To Brie, he leaned over and pecked on her cheek. "That's for disappearing on me Red." She got a wink. To October, he flicked his nose and to everyone else, they got deep squeezes.
