She let her voice drop to a whisper. "Do you see anything coming? I don't know if being loud will attract too much attention." They didn't want to be swarmed.
Autumn was really sorry. If they got killed now, it was all her fault.

If they were trying to attract one, Joy Ann wished she brought a frying pan with her to bang against one of the nearby rocks. She wasn't making any noise otherwise, although Autumn had seemed to remember that.
Wait, were those potatoes over there? Why would there be potatoes here? Joy Ann scrambled over to fetch the two tubers, putting them in her backpack and making a mental note to give one to Autumn after they got back to the prison.
...Well she supposed she could make some noise. Joy Ann clapped her hands together, making as much noise as she dared, and then froze as an undying shambled towards them. ...It looked bigger than the last one. Much bigger.
"Uhhhh..." she made a noise again, scrambling over to Autumn to turn her in the correct direction. Maybe there was still hope? Perhaps Autumn had once pitched for little league? Joy Ann chucked a rock at the new undying, hoping that wasn't the stupidest thing she had ever done in her short life.

"We have one?" That was the distinct impression Autumn got. And then she could hear it. "Okay, okay." It was just one, right? They could handle one more. They'd taken out the first one with almost no trouble.
Grabbing one of her rocks, Autumn did her very best to hone in on where she thought the thing one. Please, please, she asked no one in particular as she chucked the rock at the thing.

Yes, they definitely had one. How did one describe 'large monster coming towards us' without being able to speak or mime or show anyhow?
Stay focused, she chided herself, scrambling for more ammo for her and Autumn. ...what would happen if they chucked the arm at it? Actually, it was probably better to not throw away their prize.
She moved the arm so it was behind them, though that didn't really help them if the new undying was trying to retrieve it, did it? Best not to think and just throw rocks instead.

Autumn was trying very hard to focus. It was funny, how much she'd depended on being able to see. But if they could do this, if they just could, it would help prove she was still good for something. Even if it was just lobbing rocks at undying.
Doing her best to concentrate. She tossed another stone in the direction she thought the thing was. Whether or not it hit was anyone's guess, well. At least's Autumn had to guess.

Joy Ann watched as both their throws missed their target, and then grabbed Autumn to pull her back a few steps as the undying came closer. No, no, no, no it was not going to reach them, even if she was now tripping over the arm they had previously collected. She squeaked as she went down and her already scraped knee hit the ground. Ow.
More rocks, she had to keep throwing rocks at it. Yes, that was all she needed to remember. Keep attacking. They could do this.

There wasn't really a science to it. Just grab a rock and throw. The problem was scrambling for rocks. And staying away from where she thought the creature was. Autumn wished she could see it, though. So she knew exactly where it was.
Still. She tried her best. Scraping her hands on rocks as she picked them up and chucked them into the air, hopefully in the right direction.

To be honest, Joy Ann was starting to feel a little jealous of Autumn again. Not being able to see the thing coming at them must have been bliss. ...Or maybe it was even more nerve wracking, now that she thought more about it.
Not thinking about it. She would also stop feeling jealous, because there was no room for jealously in the current situation, only room for grabbing a rock, doing her best to aim, and throwing as hard as she could.

Autumn would have traded her lack of sight for a lack of voice, she really should have. But alas, that was not how things would be. Instead, she just had to keep telling herself she was not useless, that she could still function. She could help.
And helping to kill (that wasn't the right word, was it?) these undying was just one way to do that. So, she hurled another rock in the direction of the unsettling sounds. She really hoped she was actually hitting the thing.

Autumn was certainly being more help than Joy Ann was, scrambling around all over the place to keep them both stocked with rocks, out of harms' way, and generally getting scraped up all up and down her legs. It was not going to be fun requesting another pair of pants from the prison.
If they ever got back to the prison.
Not thinking that! They were going to get back to the prison, and they were going to feel proud of themselves for overcoming their difficulties and helping out despite them.
More rocks! Joy Ann threw more rocks at the stupid undying who had obviously come along specifically to mess up Joy Ann's world. Why had they had to come out of nowhere anyhow? Why couldn't they go bother someone else's country?!

Autumn may never know just how much scrambling Joy Ann did. It hardly registered to her that all of the rocks had to come from somewhere. She was far too focused on keeping her ears open and aware of where the thing was.
"We looking okay?" she felt the need to ask, just to make sure, as she chucked another rock towards the thing (hopefully).

"Uhhh," Joy Ann whined in her throat, although the undying seemed to be slowing down. Her scraped up shins and knees definitely weren't okay in her book. "Eep hrowing," she tried pleading, though who could make sense of her attempt at words. Her jaw hurt too much to try to make anything clearer though. Owwww. Hopefully the undying was feeling similar pain as she tried to chuck a rock at its face.

"Um, okay." Autumn wasn't entirely sure what she'd just been told, but since it wasn't a 'stop' or 'run!' she figured things must be going alright.
So, she grabbed another rock and hurled it. Was it the right direction? Possibly. Would she ever know? Maybe not. In the meantime her ankle would hurt, and her head would ache a bit, too.

Joy Ann frowned as she missed again. Jeeze, her aim was atrocious. Autumn was throwing better than her, and Autumn wasn't even able to aim!
She was starting to feel really angry at the undying, the infected, the bandits, and the world in general. If it wasn't for the strength of the emotion, she may have just gone back to the prison crying, but Joy Ann was a very strong believer in justice and fairness. None of this was fair, so she was going to throw rocks at it until it went away. Here was to hoping it hit this time.
