"Tell me about it," she mirrored his sigh, blowing some errant curls out of her face.
"We're nearly there though!" Perking up at the thought, she sent him an encouraging grin before setting off again - they were so close to the goal, surely nothing would get in their way now.
Nothing, that was, except a sand crab minipet. As soon as base camp came into view, the thing latched onto Leo's leg, pinching as hard as it could. Now quite familiar with the vicious fauna around the village, the Mare only sighed a quiet curse and smacked it with a hand. Hard. The sand crab let go and dazedly scuttled off to wherever it came from, leaving her to massage her pinched leg with one hand. "That's going to leave some bruises, probably. At least it was only a sand crab and not another whale."

He shared her enthusiasm as the camp came into view, and he nearly broke into a run. Nearly, because he didn't want to leave her behind when she had to pause to deal with a crab. Also because he was super regretting his earlier words. No sooner had Leo pointed out that a whale would be worse when--
"Why." A sand whale came into view, making its way through the ground in front of him. Arrakis had to skid to a stop, free arm windmilling to try and maintain his balance. It would be awful to get this far, avoid being squished by the whale, only to drop the egg. Some luck was with him, because he succeeded and made it around the sand whale. "Hopefully that's the last one. Is your leg alright?"

Leo couldn't help but laugh, loudly, when the sand whale came into view. "Oh for jack's sake!" It might've been a curse, but there was mirth in her voice as she followed him around the creature, somewhat more gracefully.
"Honestly I don't think there's space on this mountain for more sand whales, but who knows," she shrugged with a grin before adjusting the egg in her arms. "Yeah it'll be fine, just aches a bit, really. No blood as far as I can tell, but I'll check it once we get back to the village."
"Speaking of, ready to go back?" The route to the mountain from the village hadn't been too complicated, and she was reasonably sure she could backtrack it.
