At this point another curious phenomenon seemingly unique to the area occurring. As the sun was setting, it was expected that at any moment it would slip behind that purple veil of horizon smoke and cease to exist for another ten hours or so. This was not the case.
"Ha, maybe so, but you've got bigger things to worry about now."
"Yeah, you really should focus on what's happening now, rather than the future," Alicia corroborated. As this happened the sun finally decided, almost literally, to set as it seemed to move a distance it had taken the whole conversation's time to move in a matter of seconds; and all was dark for a moment, but after a second or two the sun returned, looking to swim upstream in the supposed river of time.
"Janus..." Alicia said after being interrupted by the paradoxical night.
"Oh... Oops." Janus laughed nervously. "How many days...?"
"This is the third. ... You ok?"
"Um, yeah, sure... Let me just, get that." Janus scratched some embarrassment off her head and took her hands out to what looked like a practiced position: one at ninety degrees and somewhere around her chin from Melanie's view, and the other a straight vertical line several inches to the left to form a corner of some parallelogram. "Night time!" And at once, the sun glowed silver; there was only a moon now, and it was at this moment a domain apart from the whole of Underworld was seen.
"You'll get there." Janus winked. Alicia rolled her eyes.

Melanie Du Coteau Sacred Gear:Vritra's Tail: Devil's spine.
Stealthy, strong, long reach and flexible. The black dragon's tail was one of it's many deadly assets. The tail itself is a wonderful yet terrible weapon. You see, the tail feeds on the host's spine until it completely devours it and takes it place. This not only grants the bearer full use and potential of this gear, but if the tail breaks... well you may get an Idea of that would happen to your body.
It it said that the tail holds a personality of it's own, vicious and vindictive, it requires constant dotting and spoiling to keep it at bay. Legend tells Vritra made people squirm and screech their lifes out of their lungs to ease it's tail and lead it to a tranquil slumber.
While Melanie still had fears towards the future. Watching Janus, for some reason was a reassuring, plus the magical fall of the night sky upon the demon's pail skin... she was, truly amazing. Melanie smiled, flustering as she contemplated the demon's charm. "right, I'll do my best..." She commented with a smile in her face.

"Cool, let's go see the moon then." Janus and Alicia traded nods. Alicia took the liberty of texting something; making another facet of creation in this camp-nation apparent in that everyone seemed to have a different sort of conscious input method to affect the dimension--could it even be called that? "Get over here!" Janus said playfully as she grabbed the redhead's wrist.
A second later the piece of balcony they were on would turn into an elevator headed straight down, as it seemed, into the planet, or whatever you called the ground in Underworld--hell, the Under-Underworld. It picked up speed at a truly frightening rate, but the two guides were unfazed. The way it stopped was also something very odd. Instead of halting abruptly, as it may have threatened to do, the elevator would only stop moving when Melanie could look out the mirror to see and become used to the motion; relying yet again on perception so that when Melanie grew used to, and therefor less aware, of the motion, it would cease to exist.
What would come into view was a billboard sized image, though it appeared to be viewed through a window, evidenced by the buildings surrounding the burrow glass-capsule--so, skyline view underground--of a girl with headphones, candescent in the moon's eternal fleeting touch.
"Ok! Here it is!" Cheered Janus. "Come on, let's go!" Alicia shook her head and headed out. They acted like they'd become cursors on some mad browser taken the place of real life. What, were they going to "click" on this mysterious girl and be where they could talk to--
That's exactly what happened. As they approached, walking perfectly on a path building itself to look like a highway made of overlapping, extra, light from streetlights; out over the glass city there was the initial fear, sure, but inevitably it would be swallowed by a beast to convert it into a sensation tagged by so many as "invincibility."
"Yuri~!" Janus called. After a little bit of suspense, only to make the GoD look totally insane, a voice of effervescent dew whispers answered with, "Hello, Janus. Good of you to get Alicia moving. Poor thing." Alicia did a "whatever" move with her face. If Melanie looked at Yuri long enough she could tell the place they were standing was no longer that glass causeway but what looked to be a brooding little suite.
"New pawn, Melanie, was it? I've heard a little about you. Janus really doesn't talk about people, though, so take that as you wish." There was a slight pause as the girl seemed to take off one of her headphones; at that moment half of her disappeared into night on lunar wings. She apparently was listening for something, but decided to keep jamming, changing the song and replacing her headphone, and being, to their rightful place; like nothing ever happened! Like someone lighting up a new cig because the old one had lost the good fight to hungry lungs; Janus...
"Yuri. Have a seat. What? You're too busy?" She kinda sounded jewy, but that was surely the half-finished fried rice/lo mien boxes on the coffee table talking.

The redhead would fall victim to a fantastic journey. While terrifying and thrilling at the same time it was wonderful and charming. It all summed up to the moment in which Alice and Janus would introduce her to yet another mysterious character. Melanie would feel dumb for quite a while as she found herself allured to Yuri. (LoL). The way this person shifted through the plains of reality and fantasy at the flip of a switch, or more likely, a song.
The redhead would only react moments later as Yuri called her for her name. That she actually snapped out of it. Turning her face red as well. The poor girl started stammering, not knowing what to say. Introductions were seem to be done before she could react properly.
She even held a silly face as she was staring at her the whole time, like it was a dream come true. Which only made her even more embarrassed.
"u-uh!... P-Pleased to meet you..."
She was quick to make a full reverence at the girl. She was actually shivering, and nervous this time.

"Likewise," said Yuri as she adjusted some knob on her left. As she did the song in her headphones became audible for the rest of the room gradually.
"Janus! This song makes me think of you! Can't you see it?"
"Yes, Yuri... I can." Said the GoD rolling her eyes. For whatever reason Yuri's skin began to glow more noticeably when the song was playing like this. Janus put an arm around Melanie, as if to reintroduce her.
"Anyway~ Melanie here need to get used to illusions; that might mean using them if she wants, but you at least need to--well, just keep doing what you're doing." Yuri nodded and turned her attention to Melanie.
"I know a little about you, but you don't know anything about me. Here: I'm made of the same stuff this camp is made of." She gave a smile to the pawn. "Any questions? What do you think so far?"

As Yuri introduced herself to Melanie, the redhead seemed to be troubled. "Then... does it mean. You aren't real?" Since Melanie's limited reasoning couldn't afford much. This place was made of illusions. Meaning they only hold life if the viewer believed it did. But it wasn't more than just illusions in the end. If Yuri was made from the same material, would that mean she was also an illusion? Perhaps the embodiment of it? Melanie didn't wanted to sound rude, and even felt ashamed for asking such thing. But she needed to know.

The song, it seemed, was on fade-out now. Yuri looked glad that somebody was curious; Janus had always been far too knowing; though I suppose that's to be expected from someone who made you. You don't go up to God and act like, "GUESS WHAT!"--although some would act in ways that suggest they actually think that. The point was, she was smiling now, perhaps feeling a little like Janus might have at the start of her career here.
"Real? You? Hunny, I'm going to need you to define your terms a little. How do you-- ... Wait for it." She paused as the song was changing to something a little more contemplative. It wasn't long after the switch that Yuri's form began to change as well.
"What was I saying? Oh yeah. How do you define real? How do you define you?" The new form's voice was so sweet that it hardly seemed like she used it at all. Janus gave a nod to show Yuri this was the right way to move the conversation; Melanie was doing well to study the illusions objectively, but a large part of illusory awareness was introspection.
"I'm made of a real thing, just as real as you are, and all you see is a projection of my persona onto otherwise inert particles; how can you say any of this is truly an illusion? Don't you define illusions as being something that isn't real?" The room was now starting to change to the music, becoming an ethereal library of philosophers' voices hanging about, waiting to be called upon.

"I- I..." Melanie was flanked by Yuri's approach towards the redhead's doubts. She wanted to look away, she couldn't face her now... but, she was ... beautiful, as if she was one with everything in this place... the only person that made her feel all of this had any sense. Even making her believe Melanie was the real illusion. Looking away from Yuri was a sin, one she could not taint herself with committing. There she was, changing once more as the sound changed. She felt like electricity was running through her body, feeling like she was changing as well. She drifted her eyes away from Yuri to see her own hand, but there was't anything different about it. Neither her clothes... she was the same. Or so she thought.
Behind her, as the music unveiled, the tail she ignored of her existence began to sway out of her trunks, gliding gracefully as the environment around them changed. Almost as if the gear was susceptible to music and fount itself within a trance. Unable to wake up or take repercussion towards anyone within it's deadly range.
As the gear was exposed, Melanie too felt like she was exposed, that sensation of being naked in front of them wasn't something she was used to, she tried to cover herself, but no matter how much she say her clothes there, it wasn't enough, she felt exposed in this ethereal world.
"I can't..."
She replied ashamed.
"Up to now, I always thought that what I can't see didn't exist... or what didn't make sense to me didn't exist... if I choose to keep thinking that way then I... I ..."
The tears of the redhead would begin to flow through her cheeks as she was truly sorry to have called Yuri fake.
"I would be as fake as I said you were..."
Whimpering as a pair of ethereal demonic wings would spread form her hips, but, apparently she wasn't aware of it, just as she wasn't aware of the trance induced tail.
Without a warning, Melanie lunged forward and actually held Yuri between her arms, holding tightly onto her as she hid her face against the black haired girl's shoulder.
"I'm sorry... I'm sorry I called you fake... I didn't mean to offend you Yuri san..."
And so, at least for that moment, the redhead believed.

While Janus and Alicia watched this with something of amusement in the first couple moment of this, they quickly grew concerned for Melanie's fragile, or otherwise malleable, emotional state. Suppose she was still a kid, but even so. To be a pro soul-trader like Janus or Lamia would take a lot of work from this; but it was also good to get this starting point established now...
"Whoa, now..." Yuri hesitated, arms tightened and eyes blinking wider, but came to wrap the redhead up in a warm embrace. Her chin rested on her head briefly before lifting it slightly to mouth, "Is this normal??" to Janus and Alicia; who confirmed that it wasn't with a surprised but silent laugh held at bay by synchronous hands. Eyes were rolled, and Yuri's hand touched down as a valley Spring on Melanie's head, stroking her hair.
"She's really a good Succubus, isn't she?" Alicia said taking note of Melanie's sense of honor. "... Don't bullshit me, Alicia."
"You know, I'm almost not kidding."
"Yeah?" Janus unclenched her fist and turned her head toward Alicia, waiting. "Go on."
"Well, I was just thinking... The humans, they like this maudlin crap, right? What if you--"
"HM." The GoD hm'd louder than normal to cut Alicia's sentence off. "I kinda thought of that, but that's a terrible business model and you know it; I know all of us are different and all that 'we all have our strengths' thing, but I, a god, have never had a problem being relatable." Alicia cocked her head to the side to prepare the gun that was her mouth to fire. "... Your numbers say otherwise." After the bullet was delivered she turned her own little infinite privacy in the crook of her folded arms.
"Ok... Ok already!" Yuri said somewhat jocularly, somewhat surprised at just how emotional she was. "Janus~!" She called holding Melanie out to arms' length. She spoke without taking those peepers out of her silvery beauts. "I have a new theory: humans retain their propensity for emotional displays after turning. You want that with footnotes?" She gave a giggle to Melanie before appearing to study her further as she spoke.
"So, beside all that... You don't need to be sorry. Though that was quite a show." She let her go and turned to pace a little; this clearly being the more brainy version of Yuri. Eventually she turned around, finger playing at the side of her lips. "Could you go back for a second? You said something about you being fake." She hoped Melanie would figure something out if they kept talking like this.

Melanie would try to hold herself, but right now her emotional status was quite unstable, however Yuri was somehow able to tame the redhead's tears and sobbing for quite a while as she comforted the redhead while Alicia and Janus displayed the bonds of their millennia forged friendship.
Truth is most of their words, Melanie was nothing but a newly converted, and it would take a long way to have her become a competent succubus at this point, but every great journey started with the first step, and hopefully under the trio's guidance, Melanie would be able to give her solid first steps.
Trying to calm herself down, she stared at Yuri, who questioned her about the time she called herself fake. The redhead hanged aimlessly in Yuri's arms as she spoke. Even more surprising was the fact the tail continued being harmless. Janus could tell from her experience at the mall. The gear was indeed holding a mind and scheme of it's own. And wasn't easily controlled. But somehow it lasted this long without trying to maim someone.
The wings would keep fluttering. But as Melanie started to doubt herself, probably hesitant or afraid of her answer, the wings started shattering.
"I-I don't know..."
Melanie couldn't stand facing Yuri eye to eye, she felt really ashamed of calling her a fake.
But she did knew, otherwise she would had said those words. What was it on Yuri that Melanie couldn't stand? Was it her soft voice? her gentle forgiveness or was it something else? Whatever it was was driving her insane. And Janus could realize this as just the tip of the tail turned it's beautiful yet deadly serpent like feature, as if it was waking from this trance.
The redhead was really bad at confessions at school, this was no different.
"I-I ... I thought... for a second... that...."
The wings started cracking and that very moment the tail darted towards Janus trying to pierce her heart straight trough her torso.
"...for some reason... I thought you were a part of me..."
The winks would shatter completely before the shards would fly as ricocheting falling stars against the tail, binding it against the ground through a barrage of piercing light attacks. The problematic or actually surprising fact was neither the tail nor the whole wings breaking down to a star fall barrage made the slightest sound. Everything, including the cracking ground where the tail was subdued didn't produced a single sound.
"So... denying you... would be like denying me... I don't know if you are a demon... but the moment I met Janus san...and Lamia san... I became what I used to believe it wasn't real... demon, angel... you... everything was unreal for me until the moment I was brought into this new world..."
Melanie was able to reply her feelings to Yuri, without looking away, and it was more than clear she didn't had the slightest idea of what happened behind her back.

Janus flinched and ducked her head to the side to narrowly avoid a strike from the trail which was inevitably stricken down by what appeared to be part of Melanie's id manifesting as wings; their function in destruction was an interesting allusion in this place of illusion. Alicia didn't move much, apparently taking the fate-temping stance of any eighty-something newly running you and your family off the road on the way to Disney world--THAT WAS THE WORST CHRISTMAS EVER! ... A digression; in the scope of Melanie's metamorphoses this was comparably tame.
When in these time it was safer to advance past her guard, it also remained quite dangerous to underestimate Melanie's mental statutes: there were intricacies there which had been bubbling through the surface; the way her immaturity was reflected in the actions of that errant tail; the steadfast idiosyncrasies of her honor and acute phobia of losing face in the eyes of her sempais. “So, let’s say you are an ‘illusion.’ Is that really such a bad thing?” Yuri came to pace around Melanie, assuming it was best to ignore her tail; which in all likelihood wouldn’t be able to experience the same images as Melanie due to differences in its sensual setup. The ever-changing girl came to wrap her hands around Melanie’s neck. Sure, it was sensual, but it was also a facile way to keep the redhead from turning around and immediately ruining her thing.
The song changed to a mashup. Soon Yuri would undergo her metamorphosis again as well as the room. This time there was more neon, and they winded through the room in arcane and failing patterns; never finished a circuit. The whole place looked like a balcony, spinning through space at just the right speed to make it look like everything below was a dream. And that was probably for the best, because the city had turned dystopian were it was metropolitan. Melanie would come to be enveloped by Yuri’s embrace, her breasts on her back and the gentle breeze of her breath tickling her ear as she covered Melanie’s eyes. “Even if you can see what’s in front of you, you see something different from everyone else: it’s your own little illusion; and if you can’t see, you still have something in mind, don’t you?” She said as her voice began to change a little. The music made her, for all intents and purposes, a different person. “I’ve changed again,” she whispered, “can you tell what I look like now?” Alicia nodded and added, “Melanie, you should pick one of those images and stick with it; either what she looks like ‘in reality’ is an illusion or the idea of what she’s supposed to look like in your mind isn’t real.”
“She’s right,” said Yuri as she let Melanie go to turn and see her. “You’ll have to choose what you think is right.” Of course the image Yuri took on wouldn’t change just because Melanie believed in what was in her head, but this would be a good way to bring about discernment to the world of illusions.
"Hello again," Yuri said with a slight smirk. "So, is it what you expected?"

Melanie felt Yuri's embrace and would soon descent into darkness. She tried her best, but how could she picture Yuri? someone who changed with the blink of an eye, her very existence was ethereal to Melanie, she couldn't picture anything that would measure her.
Melanie tried to figure herself as an illusion. Was it bad? was it good? It was honestly hard for her to fit all this subject of illusions. Which made her feel uneasy, with that the tail showed some signs of life. Soon, an image, fitting for this ethereal realm, faceless... yet one with this ever changing universe that enveloped.
Trying to calm her senses down, Melanie let herself be taken by the music along with Yuri's soft voice melting their way into her senses while the redhead was alone in the dark.
When she heard the other demons calling her to open her eyes, she was hesitant at first, but, just for a moment, she found herself at peace. None the less, she had to open her eyes, and see that dark veil which once held her to fade away revealing Yuri's appearance.
However, the moment she let go of this veil the tail reawakened, completely irritated by its lack of violence. The tail would rise behind Yuri, and now for Melanie to see at last. The redhead shocked as she recognized that monster from the time Janus saved her, her lips frightened opened trying to yell, but, just like the wings, she made no sound at all. She could only see the Tail lunging against Yuri. She tried to move, push her away from danger, but she was frozen in place, she was too startled as her eyes began shedding their tears once more.
"if that tail was only an illusion...she'll be safe... "
Melanie lamented herself, strongly wishing it to be true... she loved every single one of her sempais, her new family... she wished for them to be safe.
The next thing she knew, the tail would thrust Yuri, but Yuri would barely have a chance to react... or even to actually feel something. The tail continued on it's way thrusting into Melanie's body who actually felt as if she was impaled and devoured by that monster, her vision became blurry.
In truth, Yuri was never in danger, the tail itself became an illusion the moment it came out from Melanie's body. The Illusion projected her fears through the form of her tail, the wings was just another manifestation, perhaps her sense of honor? her trust in her superiors? Maybe her love. The shards would soon fly back stabbing the girls body as a red mantle enveloped Melanie's body surrounding it as the swirls began howling with the wind. The Illusion was gaining sound at last. Melanie screamed in pain, agony? fear?... whatever it was. She finally shout it out of her system. As if some sort of confession performed through a loud scream while her silhouette vanished in the crimson mantle before shaping like a cocoon shinning even brighter before the cocoon died along with the scream in a silent explosion. Revealing a corrupted version of Melanie's picture of Yuri. Becoming the illusion the forged in the dark.

Janus and Alicia, more Janus, braced for impact with the the tail again. The difficulty here was in there being false illusions in a world of real, tangible that is, illusions. Yuri wasn't afraid, though. The tail could have ran her through and she wouldn't have felt anything. Sure, that facade of her form derived from certain emotional pathways opened by auditory response would be harmed, but in true essence the girl was made of something as mutable as water; can you harm water by splashing or diving through it? "This is getting interesting... Did you know you could do all that?" Said Janus at first to herself then to Melanie who had taken on some new form which seemed to be of her her invention only. "What do you call it?" Asked the rook. "Do you want a mirror? I'll bet you'd like to see what we see." She laughed, knowing that was impossible; Melanie might in fact look exactly like she had when she came here if she did look into the mirror.
"No, I don't think that's it," said Yuri walking Melanie over to a futuristic body mirror. She place her hands on her shoulders as she told her what she though. "See, in this mirror I look the same to you as you think you look. Meanwhile, I see what I think I look like and what I think you look like as well; there might as well be two mirrors here; and you know what? both of them are correct." She rested her chin on Melanie's head as she looked into her eyes through her reflection.
"You've been making illusions since the day you were born; so have I. The illusion of self, I call it. You think something has to be real, right? That makes you anxious." She moved to rub Melanie's neck now to imply how tense she was. "You think just because something is an illusion, it's wrong. That's wrong; I'm an illusion; you're an illusion, one created by everyone with simply limitless angles.... Oh, sorry. You're looking for the real one. Hun, I'll tell you this only once: embrace the illusion; if you want to find what's real, you're going to be pretty disappointed. The real thing is somewhere else; out there."
"... But that isn't it, is it?" Her face seemed to grow more serious now. The song was also ending. The new song came in abruptly. Once again Yuri changed, leaving behind that old form until perhaps the next time that particular song played.
"You wouldn't have done what you did if you didn't want it on some level." Yuri was now Sigmund Freud? She curled her arms around the young Succubus. "I want you to face it, that desire, that restlessness. You want to impale me? Impale me. ... Do it." It sounded like it wasn't up for discussion. What would the tail do now? What would Melanie do??

This new form remained silent, trying to understand this place. While It was truth things had calmed down on the exterior, Melanie's darkness had taken over her mind. Which was interpreted by the helmet which covered her face. All of her youthful silhouette had been censored by this illusion, covering every inch of her body, save for her hair which seemed to be affected by the veil, waving fiery like her reckless desires.
Yuri's voice echoed through her head. But in truth she could't see like she normally had. Everything was but darkness and sounds, coming out from their original point, to explode into radiant colors which gave hints of Melanie's surroundings. Sort of like eco location. As Yuri continued talking to her mind, telling her to release those desire. The redhead suddenly took a hold of Yuri's body to hold her against the ground, the helmet approaching her face as the visor stroked against Yuri's cheeks, feeling her breath tainting the vizor for instances only to fade away seconds later.
It was like a mixture between the tail's will as well as Melanie's. But they both agreed upon something... they wanted Yuri.

Yuri was taken down; willing to let it happen as she'd forgotten some time ago what it meant to be in control of her body. Well, suppose it was a two step process. She snapped her fingers and a new song played.
"Oh... So it's this kind of impale." Yuri rolled her eyes and then gave Melanie a smirk; there wasn't a whole lot to explain regarding why the redhead's attraction to an illusion was amusing without going through the entire last page again. "Go on, then." Yuri lifted her head up to Melanie's eye to whisper, "Make me make that ******** sound," in time with the song. Just as the build was getting ready to climax, though, a loud snap cut through the music.
"That's enough." Janus was standing alone and in an instant showed who was really running the circus of the moon. Yuri was nowhere to be found for several moments before the music eventually came back on. There she was again, in the spot they found her before; this whole thing just being a lesson, after all, on the illusory nature of persona.
"Melanie, why don't you stay here for a while? ... You two clearly seem to get along."
