With the recently discovered Yaeli, the land of Tendaji has been abuzz with talk and gossip about their new neighbors. They're odd, they're strange and skittish, their eyes glow - but that can't possibly be true most say - the word on the street is that they're starting to leave their island. Those that had met the Yaeli know that it's an odd thing to hear. They were terrified of the outsiders, why would they leave their safe villages...
Rumors are filling the toxic island where the Alkidikes extremists were banished along with the Matron. Rumors of monsters clawing their way out of the earth with oil black skin and glowing evil eyes that are even weirder than the strange monsters that landed upon their shores just one year ago. The Yaeli say that their gaze can steal the soul of any person dumb enough to get too close and they're vicious beings trying to take their children.
These rumors have reached the main land as well, mostly through the few Yaeli that have decided they would rather face the scary but similar earthling races than to have to find out what the terrifying monsters want with them and their land.
Is there any truth to these rumors or are the Yaelians seeing things?

Tyyn scurried through the forest, running as fast as her little legs would take her. She jumped over knots sticking out of the ground and through the vines that covered the space around her head. She was grinning from ear to ear. She had just seen a new pack of scorra and she needed to tell her dad! They had been such awesome colors and they looked just like her dad’s scorra, Darrow! Maybe her dad would let her have a baby one of her own! That would be so cool. Tyyn had been begging her dad to let her have a pet forever! She was pretty sure she had been asking since she knew how to talk.
She was neck deep in thought, trying to figure out how she was going to persuade her dad to let her keep one when she heard commotion nearby. She must have been getting close to the village, and took all the energy she could muster to get her legs to slow down before she could make out the voices. They sounded angry… but that wasn’t really the right word… scared?
Tyyn approached the crowd through the trees and slowly peered out from behind one of the trunks. Usually when grown ups talked they didn’t want Tyyn to be around, why that was she couldn’t begin to guess. What was so secretive to begin with? The group wasn’t really yelling, but they were all talking with such passion; Tyyn guessed they had to be arguing about something. She could hear one of them through the buzz in the air. ”Monsters on Yael…” A man’s voice carried through the crowd. ”They’re stealing the children…” she heard a woman say. ”Oh come now, do you really believe in all of this?” She heard someone counter.
Tyyn listened with confusion on her face. Monsters? Stealing children? She listened intently, trying as best as she could to make sense of it all. Yael? What was that? She hadn’t heard of it yet, but it sounded like there were monsters there now. Big scary monsters with oil black skin and glowing eyes and sharp claws. Tyyn built up the image of the thing in her head before she shuddered. Well that was something. And it was stealing the souls of children… were there more than one of those things? She could hear from the crowd only bits and pieces but she was definitely hearing ‘monsters’ being thrown around by all the adults. There was more than just one. She scrunched her face, jumping to the first conclusion. ”Well we’ll take ‘em down!” She commented to herself, but she heard the crowd get just a little quieter. One of the adults peered behind her hiding spot and put her hands on her hips. ”Go on home now, Tyyn. This is grown up talk. You shouldn’t be eavesdropping, it’s not very nice.” She scolded Tyyn.
Tyyn’s shoulders sagged. She was caught. ”Well I still think we should just fight the monsters. That’s what we always do for the bad people, right?” She exclaimed before putting her own hands on her hips. The woman narrowed her eyes and gave Tyyn that ‘you’re going to be in trouble if you don’t stop back sassing’ look and Tyyn made a face. ”Fine. Ok. I’m going. Jeez.” She kicked the dirt under her feet before moping away from the crowd of adults. But still: Tyyn’s ears perked at the idea. Maybe there would be something for her to fight alongside her mom and dad. She grinned again. She wasn’t afraid of any monsters, that was for sure. And if they listened to her like they should, then there wouldn’t even be monsters left. Tyyn would have taken them all, and they all would be saved.
She rounded a bend and entered the market part of the village, only a couple minutes from their house now. She would have to see what her mom and dad made of all of this, but she was sure that they would agree with her. She could feel herself getting excited from the idea of those big shadow oil monsters. They might be huge! It could be a real tough challenge. And then they would need more help and maybe they would see that Tyyn was tough, even if she was a little girl, and would let her fight. She would save the day! She grinned and gave herself a mental thumbs up for such a good idea. She was really hoping for a fight now. Bring on the monsters.
