If Marx was aware of Flannery's 'awkwardness', he didn't show it. He didn't even seem to notice the horribly enlarged grin on her face! He was too busy grinning like an idiot himself. He did relax, though, as she came over, and handed over his winnings, perking up and holding his hands out for them. "Gee, thanks!" he chirruped, eyes bright as he eyed his prizes. He flashed her another big smile, then turned and headed out, looking over each item individually, before tucking them away. He really needed to get Sableye healed, after all. He blinked, though, when, on his way out, a pokemon leaped out in front of him. A little blue pokemon. An... odd looking pokemon. It had no arms, just.... ears? If you could call them that? Either way, the appendages were held up in what appeared to be a menacing stance as it let out a growl.
Marx stared at it a moment, then pulled out his pokedex to read it. He blinked, a couple times in fact, and the pokemon perked up curiously at that, but quickly went back to its playfully ferocious pose when Marx grinned and reached for a pokeball. "Heh, alright! Challenge accepted!" he remarked, beaming as he released Litwick, who didn't get much of a chance to battle during the gym challenge.

Marx grinned and tossed the pokeball up in the air once he plucked it off the ground. That wasn't too bad a battle! Still, the pokemon had proved a bit tough thanks to that move of its, so he'd decided to catch it. He blinked, though, as he caught the ball, and heard a solid craaack from his backpack. Jumping slightly, he quickly tucked the pokeball away, and brought his bag around, dropping to his knee carefully and setting it down. He released Basil and plucked the snoozing zorua from his bag, shoving it at the grovyle. "Here Basil! Hold this!" he urged, already reaching into his bag to carefully start pulling out the egg. And, yup, cracks were forming across the shell, and the egg was wiggling excitedly in his hands. Marx grinned, while Basil, meanwhile, looked in flabbergasted confusion at the pokemon in his arms. The egg continued to shake and move as Marx sat down with it in his lap, his expression alight. Elgyem had completely let go -- this was something Marx would honestly do best, and he was too distracted to... notice anything else. Of course, the egg hatching was a more active event than expected. As the egg began to chip and glow, the air around Basil shimmered. "Gro....?" Basil noticed. Marx didn't. Marx's eyes were glued to the egg, a big grin on his face. Only when the air violently shifted and bled colors, warping and growing to form an illusion around Basil, did Marx look up. Of course, Basil noticed the visage appearing around him even more than his trainer did, and he jumped, violently. As he did, the growing illusion vanished. Marx blinked, not quite catching it, but was quickly distracted as the egg began to glow brightly, and looked back down at it.
Still grinning, he closed an eye and turned against the light, still trying to watch. He perked up eagerly as it faded, and his eyes widened, and his grin grew, at the little pokemon looking up at him. If he could, he would have probably started floating. He didn't even breath for a moment. At least, not until the little pokemon shifted, stood on its hind legs, placed its little front paws on his chest, and chirped, "Chii~!"

If Marx was just a bit more effeminate, he probably would have squeaked. Instead, however, he let out an airy breath, and reached down to pick up the pokemon and hold her up. "Hiiiiiii~!" he greeted with breathy excitement, quietly, as if afraid to spook the baby pokemon. It blinked big purple eyes at him, and reached up to place a paw on his nose. He laughed. "Your adorable!" he exclaimed. She extended two feathery, pink and orange winks, and looked down at him. "I wonder what you're called.... You don't look like Rose's pokemon," he commented, drawing her in closer. He set her back in his lap, wiggling a finger at her, which she leaned forward to sniff. It occurred to him he should probably release Flygon and he reached back for the pokemon, laughing as the baby pokemon jumped up, trying to play at his hair. "Heh, hold on, hold on," he grinned, reaching up to gently push her back down. She pawed curiously at her stomach, then jumped when Flygon was released, hopping away and looking up while cowering down. She perked up, however, as Flygon let out a sing-songing churr, and Flygon swept down with wide eyes to sniffle at her. The baby pokemon paused, then leaned up to sniff back in response, and Marx grinned, looking between the two.
It was at this time that he finally.... looked up, and noticed something wasn't quite right with Basil.

Namely in that he didn't look like Basil. What he saw instead was a green haired young man, standing stiff with wide eyes, the zorua still held in his arms. The young man stood still, apparently afraid to even move, perhaps afraid to breath, and stared straight ahead. When he sensed Marx looking, he frantically glanced down at him, a silent plea of 'WHAT THE F IS GOING ON!?!' Marx blinked a bit. He tilted his head to the side, then scrunched up his face a bit. "Basil...?" he murmured. The boy looked around, frantically, then back at Marx, before giving a short, hard nod. Marx blinked a bit, then lowered his gaze to the zorua. He was quiet, still.... Then he gave his pokemon a grin.

Basil looked at his trainer with distress, but when it became clear Marx was too preoccupied with the new baby, the grovyle forced himself to awkwardly, and uncomfortably, relax a bit. He really.... didn't know what to make of all this. It wasn't like he felt different, but he could see the illusion, he could see his... hands? But he still felt his normal hands. It.... it was so weird, especially since this illusion seemed to have some solid presence to it. He shifted uncomfortably, but while he was trying to adjust to the change, Marx was on his stomach, grinning and watching Flygon play with little Chima, having pulled out his pokedex just long enough to get the pokemon's name.

The brunette blinked when one of his other pokemon let themselves out, and looked curiously over at Sableye as the pokemon appeared. The ghost-dark pokemon held his shield on his back, glaring at Marx, and looking thoroughly fatigued from the battle. Marx looked obliviously back for at least a few moments, before he finally made the connection, and jumped up. "Oh! Sorry Sableye! Come on, let's get you healed," he quickly replied, recalling the pokemon. He picked up Chima, who gave a curious churr in response, and hurried to the pokecenter, with Flygon soaring along, chirruping and singing down at him, clearly eager to play with Chima some more.
Marx stopped at the pokecenter door, flashing her a smile. "You stay out here with Basil, Flygon. I'll be right back," he reassured her, giving her a pat on the head. He looked at Basil, his expression a little hard to read for a moment, before he turned and headed back in. It sure was weird to see his pokemon dressed like a person...

Flygon gave a gentle coo, stepping anxiously towards the door, her wings fluttering a bit as she spent some rare time on the ground, watching Marx. She kept moving her head, trying to get past her own reflection in the glass doors, but eventually, she turned and looked at Basil. She tilted her head hard to the side, waddling towards him a bit. "Geruu~?" she churred curiously, looking at his disguised form. She leaned in, sniffing a bit, then lowered her gaze to the zorua in his arms. The air seemed to shiver and shudder around them, and she blinked, pulling back as she noticed her own form starting to change a bit. She backed up to try and get a better look at herself (which didn't work), and it quickly faded. She gave another little nickering, quizzical sound, but looked up as Marx came back out, carrying the baby pokemon in his arms.
She gave an excited trill and rushed over, sniffling at the baby, who leaped out of Marx's arms and onto Flygon's face, flapping her little wings a bit and sniffling back. Marx grinned, dropping his arms at the two, then looking at Basil. "Hey Basil, do you mind holding that for a bit? It's kinda heavy in my backpack," he commented, gesturing to the zorua. He didn't want to recall it into its pokeball until he'd actually gotten a chance to... 'talk'.... with it? Or at least make sure it was okay. He glanced back at the pokecenter, wondering if maybe he should do that now. It was a good opportunity for it...

Basil frowned in clear discomfort at the suggestion. Well, clear to most people, at least. Marx just looked curiously at him. "... I wonder if you can talk when you're disguised like that!" the brunette mused out loud. "Gro..." Basil muttered. Marx gave him a blank stare. "Was that a 'gro' or a 'no'?" he asked, but the grin that crossed his face suggested that, surprisingly, he was joking. "Heh, anyway, let's go! I gotta--" Marx blinked and cut himself off as one of the pokeballs in his bag started shaking, and reached back. Just as he pulled it out, it jumped out of his hand. As it hit the ground, it snapped open, releasing the pokemon inside, and then bounced back up. Marx caught it, blinking and looking at the wynaut he'd caught earlier. "Wyyyyyyyy~ naut!" the pokemon chimed out, ears up as it snickered.
Marx scrunched up his face to the side, but before he could do anything, baby chima blinked and looked curiously down, before floating off Flygon's face, and landing on the ground, chirping curiously as she looked at Wynaut.

Heading up into the small city that rested beside an active volcano. Evan followed the group that was ascending the mountain, most of them busy talking among one another, but once the Pokemon Center came into view it was a race to get to Nurse Joy first. Of course the man who came to save them quickly stepped in and got everyone to calm down once more. Evan had a moderate wait for his team, and was suggested going to the Hot Springs to take a bath and relax while his Pokemon were looked after. With Saga at his side, the male decided to take up the offer, but not right away. First he wanted to scope out the gym.
It wasn't long before Evan had explored a good chunk of the city, seeing as it wasn't all that big. As he returned to the Pokemon Center, he received news that Hronn along with Louhi and Zoro were the first to have recovered. Undine, Origin and Luffy seemed to be taking a bit longer to recover. Having Hronn back was good enough for him, as it were, he wanted to start training Hronn. Finding a less populated area of the city, Evan pulled out the Incense from his bag. "Last time one of these got lit up, a whole hoard of dark-types invaded us.." Evan stated, glancing over to Louhi. 'Yes, it was a rather odd experience.' Louhi replied, giving a thoughtful look back to the desert. 'But it did aid in giving Saga and Law a good boost in power.' Evan had to agree with that. "Alright, so yea. Let's light this one up for Hronn and Zoro next." Evan glanced over to Zoro. With Aki's help with Ember, the Torchic lit up the incense.
At first there wasn't much happening, until finally, the first of their hoard arrived. A curious looking Tynamo. Not the Pokemon right now that Evan really cared to see, given their recent encounter. Whatever the case, they had to fight it. "Alright, Hronn, use Tackle." The Marshtomp nodded, rushing forward and tackling into the floating eel. It tried to tackle, back, but it really didn't bother Hronn much, with another Tackle, the Tynamo fainted. One down.

Not long after the Tynamo made it's retreat did another electric-type show up. A Minun, the opposite of Plusle scurried into the scene, ready to take on the trainer and his Pokemon standing around him. "Hronn, This one isn't immune to ground-type moves, use Mud Shot." No need for a powerful move against a small mouse like this. As suspected, Mud Shot didn't it's job, fainting the tiny mouse, and not creating a huge mess like with Earthquake. With the mouses fainting, more electric-types were starting to appear, some curiously watching while others started to approach, drawn in by the scent of the incense.

Scurrying up to fight next, was a Pokemon that at first Evan missed. It was so tiny, that it barely stood out. However, once he noticed a small patch of yellow in the now muddy earth approaching, the male motioned towards it. "Use Mud Shot!" Hronn complied, shooting out a large glob of mud at the moving target. At first Evan and everyone else thought the tiny threat was dealt with, but then it began to scurry once more. "Huh?" Evan was curious why it was still coming at them, but after the tiny creature leaped towards Hronn and shot out a large spider web-shaped net from it's mouth that latched onto Hronn's face. The Marshtomp had no choice but instead tackle it. Finally the creature fainted, letting Hronn clear his face of the sticky web.

Next up an Emolga swooped down, landing on the muddy earth before leaping back into the air, swooping around Hronn teasingly before it finally came in for a super fast attack. "Huh, another flier. Hronn, use Water Gun." Hronn nodded, sucking in air quick and then dispelling it to knock the Emolga from the air. It quickly recovered and swooped in once more with another quick attack. Hronn followed it's path and once more used Water Gun, knocking it from the air once more, this time in a fainted lump. If all these battles were this quick, Hronn would evolve in now time.

Evan realized something as he watched Hronn deal with a Pichu, via Mud Shot. A lot of electric-types looked really similar. They had various differences, but mostly they were the same. It was nice though, given most of them weren't part flying or had the ability Levitate, making them easy experience. While, Evan wasn't to happy about that thought. It did rise the question as to how these Incenses' worked... and who created them? For what purpose? Was it being abused, as in... being used in a way that it was never intended. It was a good thing it didn't last more than a 24 hour expanse.. at least the last one hasn't lasted that long.

Swooping down from overhead, another Emolga took Hronn by surprise. The mud fish recovered quickly, however, unleashing another Water Gun to shoot it from the sky. The rodent itself recovered quick, swooping in once more for another Quick Attack. Hronn ended it then with another Water Gun. Hronn was feeling a bit worn out, but he still had plenty of fight in him, despite his earlier match with that Eelektross. Puffing up his chest, waiting for the next opponent with a more aware look on his face.
