✿ ❀Isis leaned lightly into Zero as he pulled her into an embrace, allowing herself to take a moment and apologize before explaining herself. Zero of course insisted that it was fine, looking to the same empty patch of grass that Isis was watching and suggesting that laying in the sun here on the grass sounded pleasant. "Yeah.... It is..." She agreed quietly, purposefully changing the tense as she shifted to rest herself fully against Zero and closing her eyes, a content sigh leaving her lips. A gentle breeze blew down and through the city, cooling the pair off and playing with the grass around them. For a moment, things seemed relatively peaceful, and Zero suggested that Ebony was probably enjoying a similar past time, wherever she had ended up. "I hope so..." Isis smiled sadly. She could picture that, Ebony in a grassy plain next to a lake filled with basculin where she could romp around, eat, and relax in the sun. She suggested jokingly. She didn't feel her team was quite ready for that battle, and frankly she was a little put off of battling at all as of late. "Ahhh, no, but seriously, I think there's a mythical cave near the back of the city, though we probably can't go inside..." Isis suggested thoughtfully. There wasn't a whole lot to do in this little city now that she thought about it. It was pretty quiet and secluded. "It'd be worth a shot to check though... I mean the worst they could say is "no", so if we can't go in, we can just leave... I think it's getting kind of late..." Isis frowned, checking the time on her xtransceiver. "Ugh, Arceus, yeah, I'm sorry, but this should probably be our last stop before we grab our costumes in Veilstone." Isis frowned, pulling up a new text to let Leon know she was running late and apologize.

Zero chuckled and shook his head, turning down the idea of challenging the gym leader at this time. "Yeah, I don't think mine are in any position to tackle him now too. Should probably finally get back to training once this fair is over so I can get my last badge." As they turned away from the sight and thought of something else to do, Isis mentioned an ancient cave that was apparently of some importance. Though, she doubted they'd be let in, it was worth checking out before they just head right to Veilstone after this. "Yeah, that'd probably be best." He looked up to the sky, which had slowly faded away from the bright blue of the morning when they'd set out. Though... With the high, protective walls that cut Sootopolis from the rest of the world, he couldn't help but feel odd here... He turned forward again, shrugging it off, though he couldn't deny how... peaceful this place felt. Very disconnected from the rest of the world.

After they were turned away at the cave, the two trainers agreed it was finally time to set out, Ashen having followed them over while Isis' Noivern was still flying down to the group. They climbed onto their dragons and prepared to set out, but had something of a delay as Isis got yet another text from Leon, her sudden, short laughter somewhat telling as she started typing up a response. "What'd Leon do this time?" He asked, more out of amused curiosity than his typical annoyance. However, before long the blonde had her response all typed up and sent out to the raven-haired male, before finally giving the signal for Nocturne to take them back into the sky, Ashen quickly following with his trainer in tow.

It only took a bit before the pair arrived in Sootopolis City, though there would be no diving from the Noivern’s back to the safety of land on this landing. No unfortunately, Sootopolis seemed to have a nice huge body of water stationed smack center of the city. Well not quite smack dab center, but it took up enough surface area that it was kind of unavoidable. The terrain wasn’t really friendly for landing with cliffs and stairs, and so Dova seemed to aim for the only safe place she could. Of course… her trainer didn’t really like that much… -

Had Lafayette known that he was supposed to brace for a violent impact with the water, he would’ve. Sure, he knew Dova struggled to land but he hadn’t expected her to straight up nose dive into a body of water with him on her back. She could do that on her own time but not while he was hitching a ride.
"FU-!" He let out in startled surprise as he was rather quickly surrounded by the chilling water. He let go of Dova and shoved away under the water, struggling his way back up to the surface. Had he not let go, he might’ve been dragged further down and been in deeper trouble. Luckily, he was a strong swimmer and soon resurfaced with a gasp for air, treading the water in agitation.
He growled, directing his attention to the Noivern as she resurfaced, flailing wildly about. Of course she wouldn’t take well to water of all things, despite slamming down into it without a second though. Lafayette huffed and swam over, quickly latching onto one of the Noivern’s ears firmly and starting to pull her with him towards the nearest reachable shore. She was still flailing like an idiot and he had half a mind to just let her drop but eventually, she calmed and floated behind until they had reach the shoreline and climbed up.
"Yeh a ********’ dipstick mate." The blonde growled, taking a deep breath and shaking a bit at the fact that he was now soaked. Dova’s ears drooped as she shook violently to try and free the water from her persons. She gave her trainer a big doeful eyed look; whether she was sorry for what she’d done or not wasn’t easy to tell. Lafayette knew that look well enough to know it wasn’t always sincere. With a sigh, Lafayette shook again, running a hand through the top of his hair and pausing a moment as he touched the wet mop. Wait… where was his hat?

His gaze narrowed as he redirected it to the spot where they’d smashed into the water. It was no surprise that the impact had caused his cap to pretty much fly off and now it was floating in the center of the waters. "Damn…" He grumbled, shooting Dova a look. The Noivern just shifted in place, giving a bit of a soft coo in response that just made the blonde roll is eyes.
Without much hesitation he pulled out Noah’s pokeball and unleashed the Dewott who seemed rather grateful to be free and about. It’d been so long! Why had he been in there?! "Mate, I need yeh to get ma cap." Lafayette instructed, already starting to pull off his tool belt so that he could wring out his clothing. The Dewott blinked and gave the man an odd look; why was he all wet? What, had Lafayette gone swimming without him or something? Actually, no given the situation that probably wasn’t what had happened.
"Dewott!" Was the response the blonde received, the pokemon giving a little salute before removing the armored helmet and diving off the shore and into the water. It didn’t take him long at all to snatch the hat up and return it to his trainer who gave him a grateful pat on the head, the Dewott grinning gleefully before eyeing the still drenched Noivern nearby. Whatever she’d done, she’d made Lafayette mad. Stupid dragon.

It was a few minutes before Lafayette set out trying to find the readings. He’d stripped off his shirt and undershirt to ring them out and had half considered doing the same with his pants before deciding that probably wouldn’t go over well with the townspeople. Instead, he just stored his over shirt away (his bag was wet, there was no changing into anything else at the moment), tugged his undershirt back on and had Dova gently use an air attack to get him to a closer state of dry. The only good thing about this situation was that his Xtransceiver was alright. If that thing had died in the aftermath of this mess, he would’ve been severely pissed. Of course… that would’ve meant Juliean couldn’t contact him… okay actually maybe there was an upside to it.
But no, it was working and maybe another fortunate fact was that they were already close to the spot they needed to be in. Ordering Dova to stay put (he didn’t want any of her nonsense), Lafayette began to move. Noah opted to trail after him curiously, wondering what the man was up to while also taking in the sights. This certainly wasn’t the fair…

Another beep, beep, beep and Lafayette was finished. Which was good because he had gotten more of a workout in that moment than he had the entire trip so far. This city was nothing but cliffs and stairs it seemed and he’d gone up and down more times than he cared to count. Not that he mind the work out, but it was certainly not what he was looking to do; he was still a bit agitated from the situation earlier and still a bit damp as well. But the deed was done and maybe along the way they’d move to a warmer place that would help him dry even faster.
"C’mon Noah." He gestured, turning on his heels and heading back in the direction they’d left Dova. She was splayed out flat in an attempt to dry off, perking up only when the pair reappeared. Lafayette gave her a sharp frown before climbing back onto her back once more, Noah hopping up and nestling himself in the space right in front of his trainer. Lafayette didn’t mind, for now he’d let the otter stay out. Maybe it’d remind Dova that she had some cargo.
"Let’s go." He murmured, another sharp kick to the Noivern’s side before she started to scramble and jump, flapping wildly before finally catching the wind current and floating up. She was getting the hang of this. She just needed to work on that landing.
