(( Not very? lol But the baddies are in the city so they can't really get all the way to their destination without running into them. Kara will fight them while doing what he can to protect his charges. ^_^

Given the strength of Yrre and Minerva they can try to fight the Rock Mara that he failed to take out. They need a 71-100 on their roll to win, if they don't make it he will see to it that they can retreat safely from the Rock Mara and/or defend them from it, don't worry. ^_^ ))

*****

Karayan likely would have sighed at the pair of them if it weren't for the fact that he was a bit busy with getting the three of them toward safety. He couldn't very well stop to try to calm the pair of them down and given the situation it was only natural that the two of them would be so high strung, right? He would let them argue he guessed, so long as they didn't start throwing punches since he would very well get caught up in the mix. Giving a little smile as he went Kara said, "I have been called many things in my time but reasonable... I am not sure if I have ever been called that." He couldn't help but to laugh a bit at his own words before he turned to look over at Yrre.

"Hm? Yeah, I know. It's best to stay up high, I don't think that the Mara can really fly, they just sort of float above the ground a bit." He knew the back roads and could show him where to go? That sounded good! Giving a smile he said, "Sure! A bit in the way of directions should..." He trailed off, skidding to a halt when he found the route that he was about to go down suddenly filling with a trio of Mara. There was a Rock Mara, which he had fought with before but the other two, they weren't any sort of Mara that he had see or fought with before personally. He only knew what they were from their descriptions which he'd gotten from his Gram when she was prepping the family for battle. A Mage Mara and a Crafter Mara, both tough creatures, ones that he would need to look out for since they were both able to wield magic in a way that their Rock Mara companion could not. He gave a muttering sound, looking from side to side, before he looked down at the ones in his arms. He couldn't fight holding them, but he didn't want them to get hurt either. He thought on it a moment before he set them down, "Don't worry, I will keep you safe." He told them, giving them both a smile and a pat on the shoulder.

Taking a step back the Gaili made a couple motions with his hands, dragging some earth up out of the ground, then twisted it so that it would make a good shelter for the little ones. He had to keep them safe, that was what was most important right now! Once their shelter was made, one that had escape routes on either side just in case the pair needed to retreat Karayan turned to face the trio of Mara, "You two stay in there! If you see an opening then run, Yrre if something happens to me its you to you to get Minerva and yourself to my Gram." He told the boy, knowing that he knew how to get to his place. With the he started forward, dragging some more rocks out of the ground, wrapping them around his fists in the form if gauntlets before he set a wave of spikes toward the Mara, knocking all three of them back and further away from his charges. He'd do whatever was necessary to keep Yrre and Minerva safe! He had to get Yrre to his Gram, had to get Minerva back to her mother, and he would do everything in his power to make sure that they got their safely.

Prompt

The Mara have broken down the first Barricades into the Plane! They now run rampant in the streets around there. Most people have been evacuated, but now all the Dovaa who have chosen a clan (and a few who haven't) are joining in the fray.

The stronger Gaili and Ysali's are creating barriers of plant and earth mixed together to create a second inner wall to keep the civilians safe.

There's fighting in the streets all day and night: for the mara do not rest.

But now there's a break in the Mara defenses as well.... Several Dovaa have noticed that if you are quiet and fast enough, you can slip through their ranks and dash out the portal.. and then from there you'll need to swim to safety. Which is not that far as the dovaa outside the Portal have been hard at work and made a nice dent in the Mara numbers. They've also been out sinking ships to keep reinforcements away.

OOC: You know are encountering a lot more fights, mara, and wounded and death counts are starting to rise some more. You can chose to escape if you wish.

“I have an education you know!” Minerva’s mother was a scholar and her father had been a mage. Books had been a common thing in their household and Minnie had a love for reading and knowledge that was only sated when her mother read from her notes. It wasn’t the right time to argue, especially not with a child that came from the streets! Plus, Minerva thought it all came down to being jealous on his part, why else would he have such a smart mouth on him? Sometimes, the Hybrid wanted to be older so she didn’t have to deal with this kind of behavior.

When the words ‘what are you’ came from the lost boy, Minerva didn’t know if it had been directed towards her or not. She chose to ignore it, knowing full well that certain people still didn’t like Hybrids. It wasn’t like she was going to be seeing these two after she was reunited with her mother anyway. With that thought she was brought back to the here and now and stared at the three Maras before hem blocking their paths. Yrre had been right, not that she’d admit it, they should have stayed up on top of the roofs.

Stay here? Was he crazy trying to take on 3 Mara all at once? No, she wasn’t about to let him do that and anyway she had her own abilities. “Stay here.” She told Yree before getting out of their hiding place. She could not let Karayan get hurt and feel responsible since he was trying to protect them. Her eyes moved to the things around them and he found an old table in one corner, walking over to it she put her foot down, grabbed one of the legs and pulled with everything she had.

The leg made a loud cracking sound before giving away and Minerva stumbled back weapon in hand. The rock Mara was probably her easiest target and that’s what she went after. Running at full speed, the Hybrid jumped onto a box near the rock Mara and them leaped towards the rock Mara hand crafted weapon raised and ready to strike. Honestly, Minerva didn’t know if this was going to work or not or if she’d even hit the thing, but when she heard the loud clang of metal against wood, she knew she’d hit something. The Rock Mara stumbled forward, it’s metal head gear clanged to the ground and then it went down with it.

Yrre would be the first one to admit he had lived a someone sheltered life. Not by his family, not by any means of that, but by the fact that he had never left the city. Maybe out to the fields around the enormous planes, but never beyond where he couldn’t see it’s towering buildings and safe gleam. So when it came to actually encountering such strange and frightening creatures, he gasped, stumbling back as soon as Karayan sat him down. They were just.. terrifying, and froze, hardly breaking eye contact with them when the walls went up around them. They could break him, snap him in half easier than.. Than anything, that was for certain. Kara’s voice barely registered with him, much less the girl who had been being snide with mere moments before.

He was a baker, he knew nothing of fighting. Anything he did know was just reckless punching and kicking from scraps in the alleys near his home. He hadn’t been in any such thing since the incident with the baowi, and he was wasn’t ready for anything.

“I knew it.. I-I was right.. Dammit..” Why did they go to the ground? It would have been so much easier to have found a different route towards where they wanted to go. And Kara.. His Kara was fighting.. And now so was that strange little girl. He couldn’t sit back, even if he was tired, even if he felt his bones rattling underneath his skin. There wasn’t much around here, it was as if everyone grabbed everything they could before the Mara came. But there was an old clay pot nearby, and he grabbed it, chucking it towards the Rock mara that seemed to be closest to him.

And he missed. He missed terribly. He was lucky he didn’t hit that young girl. It didn’t seem to matter, though, as the girl took it down. With the opening presented to him, he ran to her, grabbing her wrist.

“Come on! We can go, Kara will be fine! He’ll be right behind us! Come on!! Let’s GO!” He urged to, trying to get her to follow him to an open cellar door. The neighborhoods around here all had cellars that lead straight back into a house. and from there, they could get back on the roof. These weird giant things looked way less likely to want to go search back up there for people. And they were just kids! They’d be okay.. Right?

(( Given Robo's message about things getting more dangerous let me know if you two want to fight some more Mara! ^_^ ))

Karayan rushed full bore toward the closest of the Mara, that being the Metal Mara. Not only was it the closest to him but it was also the most noticeable of all of the Mara due to that bright, glinting armor that it was wearing. It was something he was actually glad for, it made it all that much easier to deal with that was for certain. It made it pretty impossible for them to hide, something that he took full advantage of, "Alright! Here we go!" He said, making a few motions with his hand before dragging some earth up from the ground then brought it down onto the head of the Metal Mara. The Mara was crushed down to the ground before it was then dragged under, trapping it there, its armor crushed. It didn't take much more then a moment before the blue soul of the Mara fled from under ground and into the sky, racing back toward it had first come from. It was a sight that Karayan barely noticed though, there was much more to worry about then a single fleeing soul.

Turning toward the next of his opponents, that being the Crafter Mara. It wasn't one that he had fought with before now, meaning that he was going to have to be careful with that one give that it had a decent sized hammer in hand. The best thing to do would be to finish this one off quickly, so that he could then deal with the Rock Mara. It was the weakest of the all the Mara, sure, but that didn't mean that he could leave it alone long, not when there were little ones around. Giving a bit of a smile he said, "Sorry, Mara, I need to finish you off quickly, I need to get back to my charges." He said as he set to gathering more power, dragging several earthen spikes from the ground to spear through the Crafter Mara multiple times. Once it was pinned in place he raced forward, drawing back a fist and crashed his rock forced gauntlet into it's head, knocking it clean off. It's soul was quick to flee as well but he didn't even care, instead whirling around to check on Yrre and Minerva, worry clear on his face... until he realized the girl was doing her best to take the Rock Mara down herself... and might have already done so.

Giving a bit of a grin he started toward her, gathering power to himself just in case he needed to make an attack against the Rock Mara. It looked as though it were taken care of but he couldn't be too careful, not when the lives of little ones were at stake. Hurrying forward toward them he looked around for Yrre, sighing in relief when he saw that he too was still alright, "Good work you two!" He called to them as he covered the ground between where they were and where he was.

“I’m not going anywhere.” Minerva snapped at him glaring down at his hand holding her wrist, she could not believe he was trying to pull her to safety. “I’m a warrior and perfectly capable of handling myself against a single Mara!” And when she picked her clan she was going to be even more powerful than before, that she would make sure of. “Kara is fine.” Minerva threw a glance his way and nodded when he seemed to be clearly finished with the Mara himself. “I don’t run away from friends in need.” And with that she tugged her wrist free from the boys clutches and turned towards Kara when he made his way over.

“You two?” Minerva scowled; the boy had practically almost hit her with the damn pot he’d flung like a blind person. “Now that they all been taken care of, where should we go?” Minnie glanced at the boy wondering if he could even fight at all, but she was not the type to leave someone behind. Even if this one had caused her nothing but strife. “Where are we headed to anyways?” She’d broken the leg she’d grabbed so that wouldn’t be useful at all. “I may also need a weapon.” No more of this damsel in distress.

((I don't mind biggrin ))
