"I can too!" said Red, glaring at the orderite with the large mace. "I can too hurt something more than a bouken! I go hunting with my brother all the time!" her pout quickly evolved into something belligerent, her violet eyes blazing, "My parents are off fighting, and I can fight too!" she said puggishly, sparing a glare for Kirosh, who she did know properly, "I can beat up rocks!" she kicked another stone off of the pile, incidentally shaking her pelt - her favorite item of clothing - loose, tilting slightly from it's fixed point at her horns.
She nudged it back in place with an unconscious movement, the temporary, slightly lopsided look of it's ears at odds with her attitude. "I can!" she insisted again, "I don't need a grown up to do it!"
She was so focused on insisting on her abilities that she didn't notice the two mischief makers sneaking up behind her.

"I can too." Red reaffirmed. She looked one way, then another, before grinning. "See?" she said, pointing to a rock mara just now meandering down the path. It hadn't noticed any of them yet, seeming about as at-rest as the stone monsters could be, passively scanning the sheer cliffs for life forms, structures, or its fellows. "I'll show you!" she said, a boast and challenge both as she hopped from the pile and, before anybody could stop her, ran towards it with the obnoxious speed only a disobedient child could muster. She climbed up the rock face like a gecko and briefly was out of sight before, with a 'ferocious' warcry and her usual wild grin, she leaped out from hiding, pouncing upon the rock mara.
She grabbed it's shoulders, holding on nimbly as it struggled to shake her off, and, with one hand, held up a large stone.
She struck it on the head with a sound like the beginnings of a landslide, a rumbling clang that made a sort of primitive almost-melody as she beat at it again and again.
Finally, she hit a sweet spot. Cracks spidered along it's helmet-like head and it staggered - somehow - and fell. She hit it a few more times, cracking its body for good measure before removing the head and returning to Kadryn and her family.
"See?" she said proudly, holding it out to Kadryn, "I can beat up rocks. You just..." she nodded with affected wisdom, as if she was somehow the expert, "Gotta use another rock."
Actually, her arms hurt. She had not been sure that it would work. In fact, on some level, she knew she had struck a lucky couple of blows. It did not really matter though. She had killed it, and it had been fun.

Peralian, while the silly thing attacked another Rock mara, crept up from behind to a prime pouncing position.
He waited till she was done with her silly display and declaration that sounded to him like she was just repeating what she'd heard others say. Once he was ready he gave a nod to his brother before leaping off, tiny wings flaring to make sure he landed right on top of the girl. "Ha! You is foolish!" He cried out as he landed. "Rocks are nothing, and Momma beat up diamonds... you just hit a rock. Not so impressive!"
Kirosh just sighed and buried his face in his hand. "You deal with it Kadryn.. I've been stuck with them while you were off having fun...."

He watched his brother, mimicking his actions as they readied to pounce on the other girl.
She was attacking a rock monster, and got lucky. But he was sure that it was just that, luck. He jumped when his brother nodded, trying not to hit his brother as he jumped on the girl.
"Yeah! Plus I bet you just got lucky! You didn't even hit it that hard! We would've taken it down faster." he taunted. He wasn't even paying attention to his parents talking.
Red yelped, flailing as something leapt onto her back. She thrashed against it, scowling. ”Geddoffme!” she protested, trying to disentangle the limbs that, she realized, belonged to someone.
Who was insulting her.
”I's not foolish!” she said, trying to get into position for a throw, though she had only seen it done and never done it herself. But if she could get whatever it was off her back, she could show it who was foolish!
”I don't even know what a diamond is!” she snapped, ”But I broke a rock all by myself!” she grappled with the person's arms, ”So there!”
And then another weight joined the first, and, unbalanced, Red released her grip to flail at the air and try to regain her balance. ”Gyah!” she cried out, staggering under the weight. What... were there two of them now?!
”I did too hit it hard!” she snapped, shaking herself like a beast to try to unseat them, ”I did!” no dice. She'd have to roll.
With an awkward burst of speed, she ran forward and, like a feline onto stone, flopped suddenly onto her side and started to roll, trying to dislodge the hangers on in the process.

"You is stupid!" Peral said with a chuckle. "Not know diamond? Bro and I coulda taken it on too!" He held on tightly, the lovely pelt making for a great hand hold. He and Tarlen played rougher! Well, he thought as he felt his back bruise.. maybe....
Kadryn and Kirosh looked at the rolling kids, looked at each other, then sighed. "Boys," Kadryn said in a warning tone as she walked forward to pick up all three of the rascals. "Behave yourself. She did take down a Mara by herself. Do not belittle another's achievements!"
Kirosh muttered to himself about this not being how he wanted his wife's homecoming to go as he went about picking up the fallen stones that looked interesting. Diamonds were rare, no sense in wasting it!
