"I haven't the slightest clue. These scrolls are way older than I am but at least the ink hasn't faded." she replied, letting her hand go over the characters. "I wish a table of contents was a thing back then." Kohaku sighed heavily as she scanned the contents of the scroll which were currently visible to her. "Magic blah blah blah. Control, mhmm. Spells, getting warmer. Aha, familiars!" she said as she continuously rolled and unrolled portions of the scroll, finally finding what she was looking for. "Let's see what is says here although something tells me this isn't going to be as easy as I hoped."

Volpeo on the mean time was scratching his back against the table's surface, it appeared to be fun since he didn't seem to mind waiting for the maiden to lay her gaze upon the almost endless scrolls.
"Is young maiden a writer? Wast your master a writer? Why are there so many scrolls in here?"
Then again, that didn't mean he wasn't going to be curious about every single thing he saw since this whole place was new for him. And his current form made him more playful and curious than usual.
"Me? A writer? No, no not at all. My predecessors were, though, it semmes." she replied. Seeing the large library of scrolls made Kohaku wonder if she was supposed to be a writer. Suddenly nervous at the thought, she tried to distract her with the task at hand. "This is a library full of scrolls that past guardians have either written or collected over many years." Kohaku pored over the seemingly infinite text until she found the answer to their problem. "Well, Volpeo, it seems we just have to wait for the contract to be fulfilled or you die. The problem, though, is that we don't know what the terms of our invisible contract."

"I haven't a clue. All I was trying to do was summon another familiar like the one that helps me guard the gate." she said. What on earth could have happened in between to make this happen. Kohaku bit her bottom lip in thought. "I want to get out of this contract as much as you do, Volpeo but the only other way out is to find what the terms of this contract is or we have to somehow quicken the rate at which the seal binding the contract weakens. How do we do that? I don't know that either." The frustration taking a hold of Kohaku was becoming increasingly more evident.

The small kitsune found himself playing with the familiar catch. It wasn't hard for Volpeo to be distracted in this form. Yet, hearing the troubled maiden, he paused his game and went over to stroke his fur against her legs as if trying to show support. "Dont worry, I know you are young and novice, but you have to put some faith into the youth... I know you'll be able to break the spell somehow young maiden."
Kohaku sighed and shook her head. Not only did their current situation stress her out but it seemed like the kitsune would never get it across his mind that she was older and more experienced than he. "Well until that somehow comes to mind or makes itself known, we're stuck like this."

Volpeo didn't seem to mind his situation anymore. Aparently while in this form he was no different than a small familiar. "It's okay, I know you'll find a way young maiden." The kitsune continued showing his support towards Kohaku by stroking his fur against her, before spotting the familiar once again and dash towards said familiar to continue their little game of catch.
"I know but I don't think forcing myself to find the answer here and now is going to help at all, honestly. I feel like I know what to do but I just can't remember." Kohaku said letting out a frustrated sigh. Why couldn't she remember? Instead, she was stuck in this insane situation and she couldn't do anything about it at the moment. Going through the scrolls would take ages as well.

Running around the library with the other familiar the small kitsune stops before going near Kohaku and stroke his fur against her once again. "Do not fret young maiden. I'm sure you'll find a way" The kitsune's ears twitched as he heard the nearby familiar. Sharing a couple of stares he finally runs after the familiar to continue on his pursue in their little game.
"Well, just sitting in here isn't going to help is it? Let's go take a walk outside in the garden." Kohaku suggested. Rolling up the large and heavy scroll, she tied it up and placed it back in its proper place on the shelf. Dust flew as a product causing her to sneeze and cough. "If we do come back here, it'll be to dust this place. Goodness..." Beckoning Volpeo to follow her, she secured the library shut and proceeded towards the garden.

The newly acquired familiar pounced over and over near Kohaku as he followed the maiden while still pursuing the other familiar. "Bless you young maiden." Said the small kitsune upon hearing her sneeze because of the dust. "Dust is always messy, and dangerous, especially for young ones, you should be careful with that young maiden."
Kohaku nodded, seeming to disregard his advice but was actually taking it to mind. She stood still and straight before taking a deep breath of the fresh air in the garden. "I wonder how long you'll be stuck in that form for although I have no qualms against it." Kohaku said looking back at a currently adorable, fluffy Volpeo.

The mini Kitsune jumped from bush to bush trying to caught on the more experienced and agile familiar. His fluffy tail waved like a leaf in the wind on the pursuit. Volpeo, however, stopped just as soon as he heard Kohaku speak. His ears twitched lightly before acting like a radar, tracking the maiden's direction. His face would soon follow after to meet up with curious yes at the maiden. "Is there a problem young maiden?" The playful kitsune asked before dashing in Kohaku's direction, stopping just few meters from her when the familiar placed the limit by stepping between the two. Otherwise Volpeo would most likely try to jump at her arms. The Curious kitsune switched glances at the familiar and the maiden, before ending up staring at Kohaku with curiosity. "So? is something troubling you young maiden?" Asked the miniature kitsune once again. "I can try to change if you want" Said Volpeo as he attempted to transform.

Kohaku laughed as she watched the two kitsunes playing with eachother in the garden. It was a truly adorable sight. She just wanted to take a picture of it and make it her cellphone wallpaper (Indeed, even a 400 year old japanese guardian has a cellphone). "No, no problem. It's entirely up to you, really. I don't mind you in this form." she said although it seemed her words fell on deaf ears as he attempted to revert to his original form.
