Just as the Shinigami had started to relax, invasion thwarted, the rip in the sky that had been pouring sand into Rukongai shrank in size until it had finally stabilized itself. It would become only large enough to fit a single humanoid and would be floating just slightly above sand level so that no more sand would be trickling from Hueco Mundo into Soul Society. Should it be prodded by specialists, it would reveal itself to be perfectly stable and safe to use.
Though the battle was over, Ikaruga felt much the same as she did before it even began... Relatively exhausted. She sealed her Zanpakutō and sheathed the now smooth blade inside of the handle of the handle of the oil paper umbrella, whose motif was now that of a swallow soaring through falling sakura blossoms; as per usual. She had barely even registered what her captain had said before she breathed a sigh. "As if I have a choice in the matter, anyway..." She said softly, donning her stern expression once more. Although that was the case, her eyes were slanted as if in a smile. Truth be told she *was* trying to smile, but with the lack of sleep it was hard to muster one. Especially after the fight.
As for Jack, well.... Ikaruga blushed, much as she always did when Jack went on a flirtatious tirade. The 'young' lieutenant would probably never get used to that, but she stifled a giggle all the same. "You flatter me as always, Captain Mallory." Ikaruga said with a bow in her usual motherly voice.
She would have liked to continue the conversation and ask a bit more about what happened when the portal suddenly shrunk in size. Part of her wanted to stay and investigate, but the fact that she was yawning almost every other breath probably meant she should get some sleep. This may have been more important, however; and she would have to wait for her captain. She thought about wheeling on him now that she was thoroughly grumpy, but that wouldn't solve much. She'd give him a good lecturing later. For now there was more important business to take care of. "I don't suppose we're lucky enough to have this be the last of these portals...?" Ikaruga asked through a very heavy sigh.
Jack's complimenting was just the pick-me-up Leon needed after exerting so much effort on the battlefield. She always seemed to have kind words for each person she managed to drag to bed, and the captain couldn't help but her admire her persistence and dedication to her cause. While he did not give her a formal response, he gave her a slight nod and a smile. His mind was more on the hollows than it was on her.
Suddenly, the portal that had introduced the hollows shrank, and the sand flow trickled until it finally stopped. Curious, Leon stood under the portal and looked up, but saw nothing he recognized off hand. It had to be Hueco Mundo, he figured.
"I'm afraid not, my dear Itō. Seems like this portal was just the beginning." Leon mused with a slight frown. He didn't like the idea of venturing into unknown territory, but a mystery like this wasn't about to solve itself. And after the destruction of the town on earth, a little revenge wouldn't hurt. "We have to go in. See how far the...er...'how far the rabbit hole goes', so to speak. Maybe even cut the invasions off at the source."
Jack regarded Leon with a look of disbelief on her face. He seriously couldn’t be considering going to Hueco Mundo without A.) Telling somewhere they were going and, B.) Getting more information.
Jack choose her words with great care, “That is a possible reaction. Or we could go tell the Head-Captain about this and determine a course of action.”
Contrary to popular opinion Jack wasn’t a ditzy slut. She was a slut with an average intelligence. Years of being a Captain had taught her to avoid reacting and to act instead. That was a lesson she had learned through an experience she did not want to repeat.
Jack told the Division Thirteen Officers, “We shouldn’t rush in blindly. That portal looks like it will only take one person at a time. Who the hell knows what’s on the other side. The first person could find themselves in an ambush and, wind up dead before the next one arrives.” Jack also pointed out, “Besides we don’t know if we can get back.”
It wasn’t often that Jack had to be the sensible one. The words tasted funny in her mouth. Jack didn’t like it. She hoped she didn’t have to do it often.
Jack shrugged and smiled, “We should go tell Head-Captain Niwa and, then head back to my place to hang out!”
That felt much better; Jack much preferred seducing to being sensible.

Chi who had seemed to appear from no where dashed past the trio of shinigami a smirk on his face as he stopped outside of the portal entrance and grinned further "simply interesting is this how they got in? Perhaps its safe for me to enter if it does could it be one of those rift appearing allover the place due to the upset to the balance of souls?" Chi said as a small squad of fourth division members who had been chasing Chi caught up to him "Sir Please stop and return to your room you still need to recover you lost the use of one of your arms due to your fight with former sixth seat Yukimori and it needs time to recover if your to use it again anytime soon." a fourth division member said voicing her concern about the recent happenings in the soul society and Chi's right arm which chi simply shrug off. "As much as I appreciate your concern I am currently fine and able to return to work my dear so please return to your division and treat the wounded other then me I can function fine even with the use of only one arm." Chi said in retort which shocked most of the fourth division members "But Si-" The fourth division member started but was cut off as Chi merely grinned and patted her head then enter the portal vanishing completely, he had a new toy to test and he wouldn't let a mere injury stop him and wherever this portal lead would likely be a good place to test it.

Ikaruga's eyes widened at the unmitigated stupidity her captain displayed. She was quite sure she had never heard something more idiotic in all of her days. Not only would that be suicide, but Ikaruga wouldn't have the chance to take a nap for quite some time. She shook her head softly at her Captain, and listened to Captain Jack, sighing inwardly. At least she could be sensible... Which was incredibly odd considering that was vastly out of character.
"With all due respect Captain," Ikaruga said, looking to Captain Morrison. "Captain Jack is right. For all we know--"
Her previous thought was disproven as she witnessed the Lieutenant of the Twelfth Division ignore his injuries and go straight through the portal, completely ignoring the Fourth Division's protests or the trio's presence. She was surrounded by incompetence.... But she wouldn't have it any other way.
"WELL," she said breathlessly. "Despite what we've just witnessed, I'm still of a mind with Captain Jack... But I am your Lieutenant, and will do what you ask of me." She said this last bit a touch apprehensively, but if she was ordered to go, she'd have no choice... And she'd probably follow her oafish captain anyway if he charged headlong into the unknown. Even if it meant her death. Even though that was her thought process, would they just ignore the Lieutenant who had blown past them?
OoC: Super sorry guys! I've been on a shite computer with a shite keyboard since Thursday and it kept crashing on me. I finally just got home.
Both Jack and Itō seemed to disagree with his hasty plan, an opposition that Leon expected. With the recent semi-failure of their last defense on earth fresh on his mind, it would be understandable for him to rush to improper decisions. Talking to Head-Captain Niwa was probably their best bet, and he would have conceded if Chi Kiyoshi, the lieutenant of the twelfth division charged in head first with a disregard for safety and procedures that sent a chill down Leon's spine. Even he was going to get Jack and Itō to back him up.
"I'm afraid we're at a crossroads. It'd be awful to let Chi go in alone, but we need to report this and see about requisitioning further backup." Leon seemed thoughtful for a moment, eyes turned toward the portal. "Itō. Jack. Would you two mind letting Head Captain Niwa know what happened here? I'm gonna see about keeping Chi out of trouble and, hopefully, pulling him out of there. I know it wasn't a smart idea to begin with, but we can't just let Lieutenant Kiyoshi go in as blindly and as stupidly as I was about to."
Leon adjusted his scarf and uniform slightly. It wasn't much, but it helped him mentally prepare himself for what could potentially turn out to be an escort mission. He stepped toward the portal slowly, staring up into it to see the desert of Hueco Mundo. No matter how much he knew through intelligent gathering and stories, he was always a bit worried about heading into what was essentially uncharted territory.
"If I'm not back with Chi, please come after me. You two in particular. I trust you guys with my lives, y'know? If anyone's gonna drag me out, it'd be you two." Leon shot the two women a broad grin, waiting to hear back from them before he left. He wasn't one to leave without a proper goodbye.
Jack watched Chi Kiyoshi just rush towards the portal that lead to who knows where. She couldn’t even move. She had been called stupid many times but, she didn’t think that any one was actually lacked the common sense necessary to not go jumping into portals of unknown origin.
Jack scowled and then nodded at Leon, “Yes Leon. Given the change in circumstances I would have to say your plan is the most sound. However I have to caution in favor of speed. Get in, get Lieutenant Kiyoshi, and get the hell out. Knock him unconscious if you have to.” Jack turned to Lieutenant Ikaruga, “Itō, I recommend that you stay here in anticipation of their return. I will go tell Head-Captain Niwa what is going on. Since our Hell Butterflies seem to be suffering I will go myself.”
Jack didn’t believe in goodbyes. So she just turned and, flashed back towards the Seireitei. Her red pig tails flew behind her and. her haori snapped in the wind. There was a plan. Jack wanted to put into motion as soon as possible. She made it to the entrance of the Seireitei and, waved cheerfully to the guard. However she didn’t slow down. She needed to see the Head-Captain as soon as possible.

Ikaruga was at odds with herself. On one hand, her Captain was going into the bowels of Hueco Mundo by himself. He was capable, sure... But if any Arrancar outnumbered him, he wouldn't last long.
'No,' she thought. 'If I don't have faith in my own Captain...' She couldn't even finish the thought. Her heart ached and her feet shuffled anxiously. Jack was right. She should probably wait here and anticipate their return, but what if it wasn't Captain Morrison who came through that portal? What if it was more hollows? Or worse, an Arrancar? Ikaruga was just a lieutenant. Her heart beat against her chest like a drum, but eventually she nodded. The possibility of anything else coming out of the portal was a strong one, so she would have to sit here and wait. Hopefully Jack would be back with reinforcements and Ikaruga could join her Captain soon enough.
"Listen you," Ikaruga said, jabbing a finger into her Captain's chest. "You... You... Gutter born troglodyte!" Her face was stern again. She was frustrated, so her inner 'faux-noble' came out. "Don't do anything stupid, and come back alive! You still owe me tea, and I won't be letting you off the hook if you die."

Captain Leon Morrison Captain of Division 13: Hollow Extermination
The introduction of Chi Kiyoshi changed the situation drastically, and gave Leon the clearance he needed to head into Hueco Mundo, even if it wasn't for the reason he wanted. Chi was a fool for rushing in head first, but was Leon any better for wanting to do the same just moments ago? He banished the thought as Jack reminded him of his mission. It was fairly straightforward, and Leon didn't expect much resistance. Then again, he didn't exactly know what to expect.
Once Jack departed, it was Itō's turn to scold him. Leon knew she didn't mean anything with her insult, and took it with a broad grin. He knew she was concerned when the snobbier side of her came out in full force. The stern face and voice were a bit cute in his opinion, though the word 'troglodyte' didn't do much in her favor.
"Start picking out your tea now, Itō. I'll be back before you know it, and you call tell me all about how dumb the decisions I make are." Leon gave her a brief nod before leaping up and disappearing into the portal.

5th Division Captain - Agito Suzuki Suzuki walks down the quiet roads looking around with her arms crossed. She heard that this part of town was hustling and bustling with (Dangerous) activity and rushed over here in a flash of a eye, but Suzuki only finds herself in disappointment seeing only empty streets and evidence of previous yet fresh battles, "Would it kill them to leave some for me..." Suzuki says pouting a little obviously board as she continues to slowly walk down the streets in her unusual human clothes with her captains jacket hanging over her shoulders while savoring her Pocky stick, making her stand out like a sore thumb, more then she already is being the only one moving around her.
Suzuki then spots a spindly blonde girl down the road in front of a portal to probably where all the action is or so Suzuki guesses. Suzuki then quick on her feet runs over to her hoping she'll be entertaining. Suzuki flash steps in front of her making sure she has her attention after finishing her pocky stick with one bite, "Yo" Suzuki says greeting oddly with her hand raised as a gesture while using the other to insert a new pocky stick into her mouth after previously finishing the one she already had, "Nice to meet ya! Ikaruga watched her Captain go, raising one hand feebly as she watched his smiling face recede into the unknown. Despite herself, she cared for the idiot. He may never do his paperwork or be official in any sense of the word, but he was very kind man. He was one of the few people who would stay up with the young lieutenant when she was too afraid to fall asleep. He was probably the only one in the Gotei Thirteen who even knew why she had such a silly fear, unless he told somebody... Which she supposed wasn't impossible, but he didn't seem the gossipy type. When he got back she'd like something light in flavor... Chamomile, maybe? If they had any. Things found in the human world were a little hard to come by in Seireitei. Maybe she'd get lucky and they had some hidden away in the barracks.
"Be careful..." Ikaruga said softly to the still air around her.
She took the opportunity to take a seat, and found a relatively clear spot amidst the rubble to plant her rump. As she plopped down she let out a long winded sigh. 'You know, Nee-sama,' her sister said in the recesses of her memories. 'If you sigh like that you'll scare happiness away.' Ikaruga let out a hollow laugh as she unfolded her umbrella, resting it against her shoulder to block out the sun. Just when she was starting to relax, she could feel a strong Reiatsu coming toward her. It was unfamiliar, but not in any dangerous sense. Captain level to be sure... But she couldn't quite place it. How was that? She knew everyone in the Thirteen. Or, at least, she thought she did.
When the presence finally made itself known, Ikaruga looked up at the figure and gave it a once over. The girl was small... Smaller than Ikaruga, which was saying something. Her garb was also strange. It was that of the mortal realm. Modern... More importantly, it was against regulation, but judging from the haori draped over the girl's shoulders, she was indeed a captain. Ikaruga stood, albeit half-heartedly, and bowed. "A pleasure, Miss." She said in a stern tone. If it was at all possible, this captain was more unprofessional than her own. "I'm assuming you heard the broadcast in Seireitei? This portal opened and hollows began pouring out... Myself and my captain, Leon Morrison, along with Captain Jack Mallory, managed to quell the attackers. The lieutenant of the Twelfth Division happened by after the matter and headed straight into the portal just as our group was discussing fetching reinforcements." Ikaruga let out another sigh. She was far too worried to give this explanation. "My captain went after the rogue lieutenant, and Captain Mallory went to the First Division's headquarters to deliver the news. Meanwhile I'm here, waiting to see if anything comes out of that portal."
Ikaruga's violet eyes rested upon the portal to Hueco Mundo, and her heart gave a lurch. The prospect of something coming out was both terrifying and exhilarating all at the same time. Perhaps that's why the Eleventh Division had their eye on her?

5th Division Captain - Agito Suzuki Suzuki listens to Ikaruga's simplified status report with her arms crossed and eyes closed while she slowly nibbles on the already half eaten pocky stick that hangs out of her mouth, slowly getting shorter and shorter: Suzuki's poster and expression gives her a solemn kind of demeanor about her, only to be overshadowed by her child like looks making her appearance seem more like a child trying hard to understand what they're being told. "I think I get it" Suzuki says just after finishing the last of the pocky stick with one last bite and opening her right eye to examine Ikaruga. Suzuki can tell that the spindly blonde is clearly worn out and judging from the dark circles around her eyes hasn't slept in God knows how long and looking closer Ikaruga wasn't so spindly, as a matter of fact she was filled out, especially in all desired places while Suzuki who was... "Lacking" in those departments made it stand out even more.
Not like Suzuki could do anything about it, but the fact that she notices makes her mad for no good reason, as if she completely and utterly lost a battle; but in this case the battle was over before it ever began. Suzuki looked over Ikaruga's figure one last time in envy over her "weapons" and tightly closed her eyes, clenched her teeth and her right fist that was tucked away under left arm out of frustration for a moment; the anger marks almost visible above her head.
Suzuki then opens her eyes looking back at Ikaruga with a curious expression switching gears as fast and just as fickle as mother nature herself, "Why don't you rest? I can take care of things here." Suzuki offers casting her gaze away from Ikaruga a little embarrassed trying to be considerate as a thought pops into Suzuki's head, By the way, I didn't catch your name." Suzuki says looking back at her and lowering her arms to her waist giving her look more open, "My name is Agito Suzuki, 5th Division Captain. You can just call me Suzuki though" Suzuki says with a bright fang toothed smile while leaning a little and extending her right arm in greeting.
Ikaruga's eyes flitted between Captain Suzuki and the portal. The little captain's movements were very animated... She reminded Ikaruga a little of her younger sister. She felt wistfully nostalgic. She raised up her hand, and was about to ruffle the young captain's hair out of habit that should have been long broken, but stopped herself when she realized what she was doing.
Ikaruga shook her head softly at Suzuki's suggestion. "I appreciate the offer," she said through a yawn. "But I would feel better if I stayed here... I'm always like this. It won't affect my ability to function in battle, I assure you." She had just battle a couple dozen hollows like this and felt 'fine'. It wasn't as if this were anything new. Being told to rest by what appeared to be a ten year old was rather jarring. It was as if she were being scolded by her little sister. Although it gave her a mixed set of feelings (anger and sadness being most prominent) it changed her opinion of the captain. She cared, and that was enough for a smile, which she gave. Tender and warm. Motherly almost.
"Itō Ikaruga," the young Lieutenant said, folding her umbrella and bowing. "Lieutenant of the Thirteenth Division. At your service, Captain Agito." She stood erect and unfolded her umbrella again, shading herself from the sun. Her smile had returned now that she realized she was with pleasant company.

5th Division Captain - Agito Suzuki Suzuki smiled softly while putting her hands behind her head in a comfortable manner. Ikaruga seemed like a nice motherly type of person. Suzuki felt like they could get along great and hopefully make good friends. "Just call me Suzuki" Suzuki says as she let's her shoulders relax a bit.
"Suit yourself" Suzuki says shrugging her shoulders. If Ikaruga wanted to stay and fight that was her initiative and as a matter of fact Suzuki liked that, it was like something a hero would do in the fairy tails that Suzuki constantly read and so thoroughly enjoyed. "But you have no problems if I keep you company right?" Suzuki says digging her hands in her pockets obviously looking for something until she finds it: Suzuki pulls out a small red colored box and opens it up to show it's delicious pocky contents before extending her arm out to Ikaruga showing the contents clearly and withing arms reach, "Want some?" Suzuki says with a bright smile and with all the skills of a professional smoker (Or pocky eater in this case) gently taps the box with her index figure a few times making a few pocky sticks, stick out for easy access.
