"That's where common sense and compassion comes in." Aiden said then tipped back to float on his back so he could look at the sky. "A Hunter."

"Those two things have nothing to do with each with other," Catreena said impatiently. Then she scoffed. "You? No, really, what do they call you? You can't be a hunter. Your 'Byakko' friend is more a hunter than you are."

"That's only because you don't seem to have either." Aiden said, smirk coming back. He didn't look at her though, just kept looking at the sky. "Byakko is my partner weapon, my title is Hunter."

Another piece of driftwood flew at the young man. "I have more than you!" she cried. "'Slave', you mean," she added. "I don't see how anyone, weapon or being, could want to be -your- partner. You're impossible!"

Aiden leaned back up to float right side up and glared. "Obviously you don't. Compassion means you wouldn't have been taunting me about how my race has almost been wiped from existence you idiot!" His glare turned up a notch. "Souji is not my slave! He is my willing partner!"
Aiden huffed a bit. "Prove what? You're lack of compassion or that Souji is my willing partner?"

For a moment, the dryad's eyes widened as she took on the appearance of a deer in headlights. Returning her attention to her locks of hair, she muttered in a weaker voice, "Prove it."

Aiden shook his head with a brief look of sadness. "I have no idea how to do that. You can't hear him and he can't return to his original form, we've tried, thanks to the process of being changed into a weapon."

"You're crazy," she concluded, folding her legs under her while she continued to mess with her hair, checking her reflection in the lake water. "Supposing you were telling the truth, how did you make him into a weapon, anyway?"

"I didn't." Aiden said then tipped back to float again. "The weaponization process was for another division, Souji was already a weapon before I became a Hunter."

"Division...?" She repeated, frowning. "So you weren't always a hunter. What were you before then?"

"Hunters were divided up into different divisions depending on their strengths." He really didn't want to think about the different divisions since it would mean thinking off the people with in them. "No, I was a normal human. Just a regular orphan." He said that last bit quietly as if to himself.

"Hey, you said your parents died with the other humans!" she yelled. "You never said you were an orphan before then!" It seemed those long, pointed ears were listening more intently than Catreena had appeared to care. "What kind of strengths are those, then? Which are you supposed to have? Bull-headedness?"

"You are an idiot. I said family, not parents." Aiden snarked. "There is a difference. And my 'parents' did die with the rest. I was an orphan long before they died." It was a mixed feeling for that, vindictive that they got what was coming to them and sadness that he could never prove he would have been worth to keep now.
He rolled his eyes at her again. "No, strength in offense was my division."
