...True. He could. And possibly would. Who knew.

"...Respect. I see."
Citizens with respect? Yeah...Proto wasn't so sure how he felt about that particular statement. But he bit his own rude comments back.

"There's a building nearby that has no one in it, and a few salvageable doors...but I'm sure you've likely already realized."

He, however, was going to say it anyway. Because he could.

Seven sighed, yeah...this was gunna be hard to not be a smart a**. He straighten with a nod, "Yep. Probably deserved that for my little rant the other night. As for the other building...yeah. Don't wanna ruin a door trying to figure out how to put it in."

The male was impressed with himself he hadn't said something to piss off the General yet. Whoo! Now if Proto managed to keep somewhat civil things would continue going smoothly. Tho, Seven was wondering what the General thought about last night.

The other night was a -mess-. He had just wanted to go out and get some quiet time! That was all! But Bass had followed and then the whole mess with the citizens and just...

Ugh.

"....well first you want a door the same -size-."
No...really. One of Wily's construction bots had a bit of a -glitch- once with door installation. It kept trying to slam doors that were a bit too BIG into doorways. Basically, it didn't end well. For the door at least.

"Then it's just a matter of making sure it's lined up correctly before attaching the hinges....better with two people."
Which was the tiniest bit of a hint that he might help. Perhaps.

Seven held it in, "So...you wanna help me with that?" he figured he'd ask. Then the male slipped up, "I am curious though....what did you think of a few citizen's actually standing up to you?"

Mentally Seven screamed...outwardly he crossed his arms with a head tilt to show his curiosity. But the male knew....he just screwed up.

He was about to answer that yes...yes he was willing to help with that. He'd even go pull a door if Seven had wanted. But the other male's next words drew a growl right out of the General.

"I think that perhaps, if they had the spines back then they wouldn't be in the mess they are these days. If you want to call it a mess. I watch the Citizens from the tower, and plenty of them seem quite content with things the way they are."

Proto continued to growl, and that metallic echo in his voice was getting more prominent.

"As for that -brave- act of standing up to me. I threw a ball of paper. I never drew a weapon, but I bet if I did they would have scattered like the cowards they are. I know first-hand that when you REALLY need to count on those around you, you lot will not be there by my side."

He had slipped into a more personal rant, rather than the generic statements he had been giving before. This...was quite a sore spot for the general. Ears back, tail bristling. ...No, he was -not- a happy bot at all.

Seven had taken a few steps back. After chewing his bottom lip the male sighed, "I don't see why everyone paints you out to be the badguy. From my interaction with you and from what I remember my Pa telling me a few years back. You were...." he rubbed the back of his head, "...You were Hope. Pa said we took Hope for granted once. I always wondered why...Now I understand a little more. For all its worth...which isn't much I know. You got me."

He looked away from the male, knowing what he said was utterly. Stupid. He tapped his shoe before looking back, "So...door...I know the fire didn't reach the higher floors...but we'd have to worry about weak ceilings."

"...Hope is dead."
There, on that word, the metallic echo was particularly harsh.

After a brief moment, he added in a much quieter voice...
"At least...that's what I hear these days."

There were a lot of things Proto wanted to do at this particular moment in time. Go and shoot the hell out of something was pretty high on the list...but he had left his gun back at the Tower. Strike that thought. Another high ranking thing was curl into a ball, tug on his hair, and just scream. But the last thing he needed was a rumor flying around about how he was a rather unstable bot (even if it wasn't a 'rumor' was in fact a statement of truth), so he didn't do that either.

So despite the torrent of emotions ripping through the confused and world-weary General, he maintained his usual composure. Don't break down Proto...don't give them more ammunition against you...

"I'm not afraid of a weak ceiling."

Seven flinched, "Sorry I brought it up." he heard that last sentence and put the nail in coffin. replying without much thought, "Yeah...I think the ceiling would be more afraid of you."

He froze as he had made a step towards the doorframe. He mentally whimpered knowing...he was about to die.

'Oh way to go smartass....don't turn around. Just don't turn around.'

Proto made an unidentifiable noise, likely from the sheer amount of frustration welling up inside him. But still, that very basic (yet so normal for him) scowl remained on his face.

"....Just lead the way."

Seven nodded, "This way..." he led the General down the hall and made to go up the stairwell but stopped...seeing one hell of a stone slab. He took a step down before smirking.

He backed down to the bottom step before taking a running start to leap on the slab and ran across. Grabbing the edge he hauled himself onto the stairs on the other side leading up, "Your turn!" he called playfully over to the General.

Seven knew he was playing ding-dong-ditch with Death's Door right now.

.....You were kidding him. Right? Suddenly this Audio wanted to be....playful? What in the...... These damn citizens were crazy. Every last one of them.

...Yet Proto couldn't back down from a challenge. In fact, he seemed to be smirking a bit. Just a bit. It was but a moment later that he had copied the other's move and easily scaled the stairs.

"That was pup's-play."
Really, it was. ...But it was still fun.

Of course he's crazy! This is Seven you know the Audio who actually thanked Proto for something! That's gotta account for some loss of sanity....right?

Seven chuckled, "Yeah...but sometimes. You gotta just...let loose like a pup. If you can that is." the youth didn't know just how aware Proto exactly was of himself. For all Seven knew...Proto could be scamming him right now. The male didn't entertain the thought for longer than a second. He walked down the a ways.

"The fire started at the back of the building from what I remember, so...we should---" He stopped seeing the entire hallway as he turned left was covered in debris, "Huh...that's new." he looked at Proto, "Wanna try another way or wanna see who can slip through the cracks fastest?"

Yup, this Audio had no sanity left.

That thank you hadn't been lost in Proto..it still rattled around in his thoughts and was one of the reasons he found himself here today. It was still weird though...went against everything he knew about the citizens. Or thought he knew, at least.

"I don't know what it means to let loose like a pup."
He hadn't...been a pup, really. He was a young robot, in the sense of how long he had been online. But he hadn't had much of a chance to experience the world before being sent off to battle. It was just the way things were with robots.

But sometimes....

Nah, he shook it off. Wily wouldn't be amused to know one of his Generals just wanted to kick back and have some fun.

Good thing he wouldn't know about this.
"Like I'd lose to a citizen."
Proto snorted, dashing forward without another word and wiggling his way through the cracks in the debris. Honestly it -was- a good thing he hadn't brought his weaponry with him, no way in hell would his helmet or gun have allowed him to move through these crevices.

Seven grinned after laughing out, "Hey!" he followed through a lower route than the other. Knowing that all he'd ever see was glimpses through the cracks at the General's back. He was glad his bag wasn't with him, but he did have a screwdriver set tucked in the back of his jeans. Something his Godfather taught him when he was little. It was perfectly reasonable for the Audio to see the General in 3/4's down the length of the hallway. Beyond them was open space, Seven panted as he looked back.

"Well, at least the entire hallway didn't collapsed. To be honest I was kinda worried that we were heading to a dead end. Or worse." He chuckled. He saw intact doors and smiled, "Sweet. Doesn't look like the fire really got to these huh?"

Proto had emerged on the other side, covered in dust and soot from the rubble. But...really that was fine, he'd brush it off later. The only thing bugging him was the dust that had found it's way into his nose and was currently blocking up the sensors there. He gave it a few twitches before looking over at the doors.

"...Nope, these look good. Sturdy too...and the right size. If no one's up here, might as well just pick the one you like."

Twitch...twitch twitch twitch.

And then the General gave a loud sneeze, a puff of dust erupting from his nasal sensors. Damnit, at least his nose was clear now.
