The sudden barrage of affectionate grooming prompted a startling reaction, and Mimsy stopped everything to stare out into the room in unfocused, wide-eyed surprise. Was she purring? Why? The faint rumbling abruptly stopped as she fixated on it, unnerved that her body was so wantonly betraying her. In spite of the little sound of contentment, she was overwhelmed with disapproval when Robert did it again, and began to angrily yowl as best a kitten could. Many of them sounded suspiciously like 'no' or 'stop'.

Finally recognizing the human, America cried plaintively, < No, but why? We had a plan...Kostya tell him about the...Kostya? > From her nice new perch she tried to spy out Kostya but apparently lost him on the way. < Oh god, I bet he is touching The Thing. > The mention of the labs was met with confusion, but it was very likely Konstantin was there. Touching things. She solemnly stared up at the man and patted him with her paw. < Yes let's go. You may also rub my tummy. > The cat trying to get her ride's attention was ignored. They were literally beneath her and it was actually kind of awesome.

A small, stripey brown kitten shot out of room 151 at high speed, lost his footing, skidded into the opposite wall, and wound up flattened ungracefully on the floor, still puffed and bristling from the shock of having found himself abruptly very much smaller and tangled in a suffocating mass of clothing. The world was huge, everything smelled funny, he didn't seem to have hands, and he felt prickly and weird all over. There were a lot of kittens in the hall. They were all about the same size as him. This fact, combined with all previously available facts, brought Noah to an obvious conclusion. He was now a cat. Working in the labs had prepared him somewhat; he'd seen bizarre conditions inflicted on other people on an occasional basis, and he'd been pretty sure it was going to happen to him at some point too. But the reality of a sudden full-body transformation was much more jarring and distressing than he'd expected. He got his feet under him, backed up until he was pressed against the wall, and, much to his embarrassment, found himself crying in a series of thin, high mewls.

Jordan thought for a moment that he'd fallen asleep. The disorientation was similar, anyway. However, upon blinking the slight dizziness away, he realized that his perspective had been changed. His vision was altered, the red shades in the room muting into something muddier, his sense of smell was massively enhanced, he seemed to be considerably smaller, and he could feel something twitching behind him that was almost definitely a tail. He stretched one arm out to have a look. Yep. Changed into either a cat or a catlike minipet. Could be better, could be worse. << Weird s**t, >> he said, and sighed with mild annoyance, then stretched lazily, not bothering to get up. The bed seemed like a vast, soft plain, and it was difficult enough to escape it in the morning when he was in his normal, human shape. There was no particularly good reason to move yet anyway. None of them had any pressing matters to attend to right now, and the last time they'd been cats there hadn't really been leisure to find out if cats curled up together really were as comfortable as they looked. Something twitched into his peripheral vision, and his attention snapped into focus. It was a rather pointy tail-tip. It twitched again. Ignoring it was absolutely and completely impossible. His relaxation evaporated into a bundle of slowly coiling tension as he twisted to get his feet under him. The tail twitched again, his butt wiggled without conscious volition, and he found himself pouncing explosively onto his prey.

"Please," he addressed the kitten in his hands, "be just a cat, and not someone I know." He flinched at the growing yowling around his feet and extricated himself gingerly from what looked to be an impending catfight wound around his ankles, and absently cradled the tiny orange kitten to his chest, half tucked into his coat, as he set off down the hall. There are certain gestures expected of anyone trying to make his way through a room full of animals, and Taym was no exception. There was an assortment of tripping and minor gymnastics and a few choice curses, and a few yowling kittens nudged out of the way with his toes apologetically. He paused when he passed the most miserable kitten he had ever seen in his life, a kitten that might have been deemed shrimpy although it wasn't any smaller than most of the rest, and he observed it forlornly as it wailed. "I know how you feel, little buddy," he informed him, scooping up in his other hand (why not?) before continuing his journey labwards.

Noah found himself scooped high into the air by someone very tall indeed. He mewled again and clutched at the hand that had picked him up, though he did manage the presence of mind to pull his claws back into his fingers after a moment -- which was distracting and kind of interesting in his own right, they felt like fingernails but he could pull them back -- because if he clawed the person carrying him he might get dropped, and it would be totally understandable and even justified maybe. He squirmed and scrabbled until he could wedge himself into the crook of the man's elbow. It was Taym, he realized. He could tell by the smell: clean person, traces of bleach and smoke, and something kind of weird that he couldn't name, and he would never have thought that he knew what anyone smelled like but apparently standing next to Taym had given some part of his brain information that as a human he hadn't noticed that he'd noticed. He craned his neck until he could get a look at his rescuer's face, and confirmed that yes, he was right about that. Oh god this was intensely embarrassing. << Where are we going? >> he asked, and found it coming out in a tremulous mew.

And then he became very aware of what happened. The tree he had been sitting beneath had somehow managed to grow so much larger and everything around him just seemed so much bigger and honestly a little chaotic. Senses kicked in, sounds seemed to intensify, motion was a little bit more. Milo's little body was on its feet, his back arching and stepping towards the tree until impact spooked him, prompting him to jump away and into the sands of the beach.
The little tracks he left finally indicated that, well, he was a cat. And small. As he stared at his paw. There was a troupe for this somewhere, body snatching, magical influences, coy plans by the enemy to catch the heroes off guard. Many things could have come to mind but Milo's ears were twitching this way and that, picking up so many sounds around him. New sounds, old sounds, some he would have never heard before and some that were intensified. Making those thoughts of placing a reference drift from his mind and questions about how he had turned into a cat never surface (and also just forgetting for a moment that yes, he HAD turned into a cat). Because they zeroed in on the softly crashing waves upon the shore and for some reason he felt compelled to go closer.
So he did. Milo ventured forth. And began batting at the surf that rolled in (periodically backing up when it got too close) like it had accosted him or something. He didn't know why, but it seemed pretty fun.

The kitten assured him happily curling into his chest. It was nice being tall and held and carried around from place to place by a manservant. The addition of Noah was first greeted with hissing displeasure until she realized what a truly pathetic figure it was.
Benevolently placing a paw on his face, she comforted him, What an a*****e, but he's also nice and we're up here too so it's okay. I'm America...and you've got...it's all....> She licked at his face and then ear, apparently dissatisfied with his general grooming.

Her paw smooshed his nose a little just to show him that sharing did not mean she wasn't the boss around here. Obviously. extra alright.>
Apparently done with grooming, Americat flopped back bonelessly and stared up with wide eyes. Tummy.

There was no dispute occurring; America-kitten was the boss of this ride. Noah licked his nose after it had been booped, automatically, then paused and did it again because he hadn't known he could do that. The grooming and reintroduction had at least served to settle nerves thoroughly shaken by the initial shock of transformation, and Noah found that he wasn't prickly all over any more. His fur had settled into a smoother configuration and his tail had unpuffed. he said in a small voice.
He was taking up one of Taym's hands, which was probably kind of inconvenient. He could do something about that, though. Cautiously, he put out claws just enough to snag into the top layer of the older hunter's coat and began to scale Mt. Shoulder.

A solitary sand coloured kitten watched the chaos impassively, ignoring the barking in his head. He'd been dressed as Chantelle but mercifully in his room when it happened and the mask had dropped away.
None of his mannerisms were kittenlike, instead stilted and almost robotic. He was not pleased.

There was a long, drawn out mrowl of discontent as a fluffy siamese kitten with violet eyes made her way down the stairs. Even as an adorably fluffy kitten she managed to walk with a bit of sass in her step, tail swishing and flicking with mild irritation. It was Valentine's Day, she had plans today. What the ******** is this? She couldn't even get Atropos' rings onto a necklace or collar of some kind because she didn't have any goddamn thumbs. This sucked. And why was Taym the only one still human!? She approached the man, tail swishing side to side as she gazed up at him with wide, seemingly innocent eyes and attempted to ask him why he got to be human but she had to be a kitten on a day she was excited to celebrate for once. All that came out was the most adorable kitten mewling to ever reach her ears. Wonderful.

Too big V Al woke with a tiny startle. He was in his pile of furs and naked; both very normal occurrences. However, this time everything was so much larger than usual.
He attempted to crawl out of his nest, but really fell face-first into a rolling tumble to the floor. Apparently he did not have proper han-err-paw eye coordination yet. He wobbled his way to his door and brushed under the daunting tarp that separated his room from the hallway. He yowled out at the slowly gathering herd of kitties as a thought occurred.

Bix had been up early trying to get a nice Valentine's day off on the right foot. He'd been carrying a white table cloth from a supply closet when the 'change' happened. What used to be Bix, in his panic, flailed around in the combined pile of clothes and table cloth. Guess which one he was.
