Twins - transcribed from father's journal

Kilian’s eyes scrunched up with laughter as he watched his toddler son play in the snow with Amadia. It amazed him so much that he had a child. Not just one but two. Twins. He couldn’t be more happy than he was at that moment in his life. His mate was doing well, and despite the surprise of a second baby, the labor had gone as smoothly as they could have hoped for. She had experienced pain but Kilian was sure that was a normal occurrence. He crossed his arms, leaning against the side of their house and chuckling when Casseth managed to hit Amadia square in the face with a loosely packed snowball.
As the snowball hit Amadia’s face she snorted, a glint to her eyes as she flicked her tail into the snow, sending a light shower of the fluffy white stuff sailing towards Casseth. The boy laughed, his wings extending and head falling back and tongue sticking out to catch the flakes. Kilian shook his head as he remembered the day his children had been born. Cas had come first and they had thought themselves done with the labor. They had been wrong, however, realizing this when yet another pain had overtaken Erionda. Soon after Cas had been born, their lovely little daughter, Lilith had come into the world as well.
Those first few days had been rough. Both him and Erionda were new to the world of parenthood. Pile twins on top of that and it had been a rather stressful few days. He wouldn’t trade it for the world, however. Those those days had been tough they had been a learning experience and bonding between both him and Erionda. They had worked together and had figured things out as they went. Along with the help from Junjie, things had finally fallen into place and they had gotten the hang of juggling twins.
Kilian worried, despite the brave show he put on. His children were not only hybrids but they also carried a bit of each race in them. Something he had yet to see in his travels. Not to say there were none in existence, just that it was a rare sight. They were both going to grow up in a world that knew hate towards hybrids. One where there were people that would rather see their kind dead than walking amongst the others. He had vowed to keep his children safe, even if it meant his own life would be sacrificed. On that thought, his mind instantly flickered to his father and what it would mean if he were to find out that Kilian had hybrid children. That he was a grandfather to those children. He had meant what he said to his father that day. If he laid a hand on Erionda again, he’d kill him. Kilian would rip him apart if the man even dared lay a finger on his children.
Life would likely not be easy for his children. Struggles were an everyday part of life, even for a pureblood. Though he knew, as hybrids, they would have a much harder time. He would do everything in his power to make sure that his children knew they were loved. That there was hope, even in a world filled with hatred for something that was just different. Something born not from something awful but from the love between two beings that defied everything that had ever been taught to them.
