Erionda sighed softly as she stroked Lillith's hair. Gradually the tiny tears subsided, and Erionda sat back into a chair staring down at the toppled books on the floor. Curiosity was starting to emerge in her daughter and she couldn't help but wonder if she was like that when she was Liliths age. Humming a little as she let her mind be pulled into the though Erionda looked back up towards the shelves.
The room was still overflowing with countless books she had yet to read. Books that had been here from before, a small collection that had come from her home in Eowyn. "You must have really loved to read dad." Erionda muttered, snuggling the tiny child closer and kissing her on the top of the head. There were strange ways even her daughter helped her feel connected to her long since passed father. Eyes scanned over the pile of books. Many of them had come from the section she hadn't had a chance to go through yet. Not that she hadn't had time.
Her pregnancy had kept her trapped inside, and instead of sitting back and reading she had spent countless days plotting the way out. After her surprise of twins, she had been far too busy to enter into the library and read. Erionda couldn't help the slight chuckle at the thoughts, how she had put the two men through so much. All because she quickly grew bored of sitting around.
"Mama mad?" Lilith sniffled, drawing in a deep shaking breath.
Erionda smiled as she looked down and brushed Liliths hair from her eyes, her fingers gentle and warm. "No, silly one. There's nothing to be mad about. But you should help me clean these up now. These belonged to grandpa, so we must take very good care of them."
"Mama Sure?" Lilith questioned again. Lifting one had from around her body to rub at the tears on her face.
Taking a deep sigh as her eyes fell to a nest of glowing orbs on the table Erionda shook her head. Too much like her, Lilith was a trouble maker. Like mother and daughter they shared a strange habit. Collecting animal eggs. And now the proof of nine strange orb like eggs were placed carefully on the table. "Mhm, maybe next time there are 'strange things in the pages' you come and get me first ok?"
Tapping the end of Lilith's nose to elicit a giggle from her tiny daughter Erionda scowled at the strange eggs. Where had they come from? They couldn't possibly have been laid inside the library. Someone would have had to plant them there.
With a sift movement Erionda settled Lilith on the floor and moved towards the books. Her finger sliding along the binding to check it hadn't been to deeply damaged. Older books were harder to take care of and she didn't have the skills to restore them. One by one she slowly moved them back to the shelf pausing at a strange black book with a stone in the center. It looked oddly close to another book she had procured a while ago back on Eowyn. Back when Alpha and Beta had been causing trouble.
A shiver ran up her spine as she stared at the book. Blinking twice when her daughters black hand rested on the cover. Her deep purple eyes staring up with a worried expression. "Mama. Look."
Erionda's head turned to see where Lilith was only to find herself groaning inside. The eggs were hatching! "Hide Lilith, we don't know what they are. For all we know they could be dangerous."
Nodding her head vigorously Lilith ducked behind a bookshelf between her and the eggs. Leaving Erionda to lean over them. Her eyebrows knit together as she watched the eggs hatch. Touching the first of the hatchlings to break free of the eggs. A bright aqua blue colored creature. Scooping it up as it started peeping Erionda inspected it closer.
"Safe?" Lilith asked peaking back around the bookcase.
"Of course." Erionda placed the small creature back onto the table and picked up another hatching egg. Walking over to Lilith she deposited it in her hand. "Be very very careful. You know how fast ice melts in your hand?"
Lilith nodded her eyes beaming as she gazed curiously at the egg in her cupped hand. Watched as the egg's small zip like opening widened and the tiny dragon pushed it's way out of the egg nuzzling the tip of Lilith's thumb.
Erionda gasped as Lilith almost dropped the baby out of fear. "Careful Lilith, Ice breaks when it's delicate. So can these." Catching the tiny creature in her hands she deposited it back on the table. "Now, lets let them work their way into the world. I'm sure in a couple of days you can help me take care of them. But first you have to help me clean up these books. Ok?"
Pouting Lilith moved towards the books picking up another one with a strange Jewel like emblem on it. "Were?"
An eyebrow raised at the glance on the second book. Walking over to Lilith she picked it up from her hand and inspected the contents. Looking back towards the first matching book. "Conjuration magic." Erionda spoke softly so her daughter wouldn't over hear. More to herself than anything else. Nibbling on the inside of her lip Erionda glanced over the rest of the books. These were the only two that had the strange symbol on the front.
Fingers clasped onto the matching books and moved them out of the way. Bending down to her knees Erionda picked up another book and smiled at Lilith. "Lets put these back on the shelf. Can you tell me what letter is first?"
