"Jesus Christ," he said lowly, as he uncovered another faceless body. He still wasn't quite used to this, although he was more desensitized than he would have thought possible. He prodded it experimentally with his foot.
When he spoke, he sounded, suddenly, pissed: "How the ******** weren't we called out here sooner? Isn't preventing this s**t our job? How many ******** reports just get stashed away and de-prioritized--"
Well at least this time he was angry about the right kind of thing.

"Well not every amusement park accident is a monster.. and I'm sure this went through local authorities before they just abandoned the place." Bix was looking at a body near one of the moving rides.
"Who knows.. abandoned park? Shelter? These could be drifters or hobos.." A noise behind made him turn only to see nothing but swirls of mist. "Hmm.."
Turning back he jumped a bit to see the body had moved. It stood near the ride, but still was dead.
"I don't like this at all." He finally summoned his bow, Mina's red gems pulsing gently in the fog. It was a beacon to his current team mates as well, an indication of his location.

"It's entirely possible that the body count wasn't high enough to make it a priority mission when it was reported," Jordan said, but he was scowling. "Spread too damned thin." He saw Bix turn and check to see what the other man was looking at; he neither saw nor heard anything amiss, but when he looked back towards the nearest ride, a body stood stiffly in front of it, exactly the same way the one he'd found had done.
Not a zombie, Ferros confirmed, and Jordan prowled closer to prod the corpse, watching as it collapsed in a ragdoll sprawl of limbs. "Once we're done here, we can find a pay phone, call in an anonymous tip before we leave so these poor suckers can get a decent burial."

"Don't use the word hobo," Taym (who used the word all the time) informed Bix. "It perpetuates an offensive stereotype. It's a ********' person experiencing homelessness. People-first language." Enjoy that piece of hypocrisy, Jordan. He gingerly climbed around a pile of once-prizes moldering in the way of another path, and realized he was silently asking the park for forgiveness as he did so. This made the hair stand up on the back of his neck, but was chased away by the more pressing concern of yet another corpse behind. "So either the body count wasn't high enough to be priority which says some ******** things about our priority levels," he observed flatly, "or it's spiked really high, very recently. But not too recently," he added, the withheld retch over the maggots audible over the headset. "Should be just like home for you, shouldn't it Jordan?" Antagonizing. Good work. Very professional.

"No no I'm talking real hobo. Though I'm sure homeless people are here too." Bix apparently was okay with breaking down his definition of hobo instead of taking more corpse photos. He'd wandered away, Mina held at the ready, until he found himself at the entrance to the mirror maze. "Like a hobo has a handkerchief on a stick and jumps trains. THAT is a guy who made a lifestyle choice. A homeless person is different." He leaned in as his reflection melted before his eyes. "I wonder if this mirror thing is the same thing that's outside?" He commented and actually took a picture of his melting reflection with no flash. It didn't come out right. "Doesn't photograph either."

Jordan turned to look at Taym, coolly assessing him. "I'd taken you at your word when you told me you could keep personal problems separate from on-mission time," he replied mildly, then turned back to follow Bix. Yep. Past-tense. He peered into the mirror maze, frowning. His reflection had reverted to normal, but not for long. This time he was expecting the odd white flash and the reappearance of the melting figure. "If this is an illusion," he said thoughtfully, "it's possible that some of the bodies outside are also illusory. That would explain the sudden proliferation on the body count."

There was a lull while Taym collected himself. "We're on the same side," he spat into the headset, apparently no longer aware of Bix or just not caring. "If I see something you need to know, I'll tell you. If I have a question, I'll defer to your ********' superior experience and I'll ask it because I'm not proud. If something swings at you and I can stop it, I ********' will, regardless of what danger this puts me in. Unlike Rep, I can separate business and pleasure and you can be damn sure I'll never draw a weapon on you. We're at work and I will ******** do what I signed up to do and die if it means I can save one of us but what I will not do is edit my ******** opinions to sanitize them for the sake of your feelings. Grow a pair. I'm going to go look at--" But whatever he was already setting off to go look at and whatever point he was about to make, he never got around to it. A loud cracking sound broke the silence and Taym jumped like a startled dog, and did it again when a second followed. He yanked his scarf over his nose as the coughing started. "Scarves up," he barked, as the shapes started swimming through the fog. "Speaking of illusory bullshit--" Quote: 81- 100: BOSS ENCOUNTER: - As you continue walking down the sidewalk you hear a large crack, followed by another. A strange gas explodes from underneath, making you extremely dizzy, as you cough to figure out what is going on, fighting for air now. You have exposed your entire team to a hallucinogen, making everything more terrifying than ever as your vision swims and hops uncontrollably and your hearing becomes muted. Something creaks, groans, lurches underneath you, but is that your imagination? - BOSS MECHANICS: This boss is a mob that has collective 100 HP. Every time you attack it (following the general battle rules), you TAKE 8 damage. AS you can't really see the boss, most of it will have to be dependent on what you can see, if anything at all, from strange faceless figures lurching, half-hopping towards you to the smiling dead coming back and swiping at you. Make sure to tally the boss's total HP (the damage you did to it) at the bottom of your post as well as your total HP and the damage you did that round. If the boss's HP hits 0, you have defeated it, and your team can now take the portal back.

"Whoah whoah.." Bix was coming out of the mirror maze when he heard Taym's comments. He didn't know that the man had any issue with Jordan (and it didn't surprise him to hear Rep's name) but his own oversight didn't mean that it was alright. Thankfully Jordan, generally calm as ever, didn't retort with anything aggressive. "Chill out ladies. If you can't conduct yourself with professionalism..." He'd gotten his dad voice on, a graver tone than he usually used, but was interrupted by the encounter with the invisible menace. "s**t.." Shambling figures came at him, disappearing into the mist, grabbing at him before he could retaliate. "Let's stick together, get back to back. We've barely got visual so hit whatever you manage to see." He backed towards the other two men, motioning if they could see his weapon's glow in the fog, and fired off a volley of arrows. Some sizzled through the fog, other's stuck into half-invisible enemies and lit up the area with sizzling pops of red light. HP: 52/60 Dmg: 8 Charge: 1/3 Boss HP: 92/100

"Hm," Jordan said. "He's said a lot of those same things. I think you're more alike than either of you likes to admit." He gave Bix an apologetic nod at the rebuke. He wasn't going to let his temper get the better of him, but needling Taym wasn't exactly professional of him either. As the ground cracked and gas began to heave up from under the ground, he cursed and quickly pulled his scarf up to wrap it around his nose and mouth. "This stuff again. Hallucinogen," he explained briefly, "I've encountered it on a couple of missions. Attack what you see, don't let it throw you off with the illusions." He backed toward the other two, forming a loose, defensive triangle. In spite of makeshift mask of his scarf, his eyes were watering and his throat stung painfully. He coughed several times. Must've gotten a lungful before I got my scarf up, he thought dizzily. HP: 52/60 Dmg: Robert Charge: 0/3 Boss HP: 92/100

Taym, pushed into sullen silence both by the immediacy of what was happening and by Bix's rebuke, managed a sarcastic snort at Jordan's last comment. "I am nothing like Rep," he snapped. Apparently this truth extended to combat situations, as the slim blade of his knife barely clipped some lurching, foggy horror. Definitely not Replike. "Spare me the armchair psych act." "Could we stay on task please?" Bix sounded genuinely annoyed now. The hallucinogen filled the air around them and while they were snipping at one another, he seemed to be the only one actually landing any hits.
"Keep your high school drama out of the mission please." Seriously if they both said 'like' more in teen girl voices, to Bix it would sound exactly the same. He fired another volley into what he could see.

Saying he started it would be even more childish, as would any other attempt at a defense. Jordan gritted his teeth briefly and let it drop. If Taym wanted to pick this back up later, he would deal with it then.
A melting, dripping figure came slithering up out of the fog, and Jordan took out his irritation on it in a solid hit. Hallucination or not, it felt satisfyingly solid.

Taym found it all too easy to follow suit, and fueled by irritation and a gnawing need to demonstrate to Bix that he was entirely capable of managing himself, thankyouverymuch, he lashed out at a shape and felt the blow land harder than any he'd ever delivered outside of the grey world of the Tear. He was unable to stifle the satisfied sound that slipped between his teeth and morphed into a cough.
"Sir yes sir," he barked sarcastically at Bix, in boot-camp style. Apparently he was incapable of keeping a lid on it for more than thirty seconds a time, but on the plus side, at least he was making himself useful.

"See?" Bix smirked as they both landed solid hits. "Nice." Despite his annoyance, he wasn't beyond acknowledging when someone actually listened and did good work. The benefits of having no ego.
Once again the sun fired a consistent volley into the swiftly disappearing and reappearing target. "Charge ready.." He noted to them audibly. It was a warning if anything, as his attack could cover quite a bit of area.
