The snake-pen didn't seem too happy about being flicked into submission. Stupid wolves and their manhandling.

"That actually seems both nice and unusual to do two things at once like that." She imagined there were pros and cons to that. Such as missing out on awesome missions because you were already working training a bunch of snotty nosed High School Stu- oh wait...

"How often do you get called away while working with us? Only on really important stuff or what?" She crossed her arms, clearly trying to pry every question she could possibly have out of her head because she wanted to know everything ever. "How can you tell a Boogeyman cloak apart from a standard one an individual might wear because they're a fan of the Boogeyman mascots?" she scratched the stitches under her ear, "I'm pretty sure there was a show out featurin' some mascots or something..."

Hethel nodded mutely at Red, getting started while listening to the others converse and watching students in various states of ebullience pass by. She held the markers with curled fingers, gripping them as with talons. At first, she worked the plushie without any true interest in the task, merely passing the time- but she grew increasingly absorbed, until everything else seemed to fade away. When the plushie was complete, the owl spirit was not necessarily proud, but quite surprised at herself.

She turned it to face Red, waiting for a lapse in conversation. Finally, it came. "It's wood." She stated in a voice as flat as usual.

That was fun. xD

The compliment given to her made the professor brighten. "Ah, thank you. And personally? I think it is. It can be very tough and physically painful at times, but the other times... Yes, I think it is worth it." She offered a shrug, adding, "It's a bit more serious than what a Trick or Treater does and it is quite a bit more demanding, but I have no regrets."

"Seems like it would be more ... well satisfying." He smirked slightly, inching to the side a bit for the overly fluffy creature since he didn't really want to touch it. "More gratifying in the end than just pulling pranks."

"Sometimes it can be nice to juggle two different jobs," Red replied as she returned her attention to the incomplete bat before her. "And yet, other times... Well. You get the idea."

The professor added a few stitches to the bat, poking it into shape with the rounded portion of her talon. "As far as being called goes, it can vary. As for telling cloaks apart..." Red grinned. "There are several ways, but I think it may take awhile to get into the details. I'm pretty sure it was briefly touched on the show you're thinking of. There have been several shows, each series with different mascots for different times and scenarios. Last I heard there's a new one in production right now. You might be interested in BoogeyForce: Midnight Howl. I'm partial to Hush myself."

When the plushie was presented, Red dropped the incomplete blank bat to clap her hands. "That's great! A wood-patterned cloak is very useful not only to blend in with the trees, but also to blend in against wooden floors, walls, and tables. Nicely done!"

Mythee

I'm glad you had fun! Thank you for making the first one! *u*

To the boil, Red gently chided. "To some, yes. Others find more enjoyment and fulfillment from the Trick or Treater's career path. Pulling tricks and pranks aren't the only thing they do, young one. They do much, much more."

"'fraid I don't get the idea too much, but..." she knocked on the side of her head. Any previous experience Shehk had been involved in went completely over her head, not even a glimmer of awful memory showing for it.

Shehk thought for a long time about the show she had in mind. "Was that one the movie they released? Well..." she counted on her fingers, "I think there were at least 4 series and 2 movies, right? Or am I missing a few.." or was she mistaking another show? Her memories were a jumble where she still had them, but she did distinctly remember watching 'The Boogeyman Chronicles' at one point. And 'Junior Boogeymen'. Shoot. That was a lot more than she'd had in that mental compartment in a while! Good job brain! That wasn't helpful stuff to remember normally...

What had they said about the cloaks....it..... "Feels like the wearers FEAR is what I think I remember, but it's been a really long time since I saw it...." How did one tell that difference anyways?

Red shook her head. "There were more then that. There were a couple animated series, some after-school live action shows, direct-to-video movies... There were a lot." The teacher paused, then gave a sheepish grin. "I guess I know a lot more about it than I should probably admit." Not that she'd watch it after school everyday when she was a young pup, or that she'd dig through Amityville's library for the rumored recordings of lost episodes when she herself was a student...

"Again, it's a pretty lengthy topic. It would be best to save that discussion for another day, otherwise I'd probably talk your ears off." Red added, waving the needle she was using to sew at Shehk for emphasis.

Shehk looked shocked at this new slew of information. "I..I only saw..." she leaned on the counter of the booth and rested her chin in her hand thoughtfully. "I mean....wow..that's a lot of a show I haven't watched. I just remember the little quintet of little animated kids and their sheet-cloaks and one of them had a bunch of conspiracy theories which were almost always right on the dot? Then there was the one who broke everything he touched so he'd always touch the bad guy's stuff to foil their plans because hey, use your weaknesses as strengths where you can and then the FEAR vaccuum...." She had really specific memories of this.

"I think they released a series of comic books a few years back too, 'The Tales of Black and Blue' or something..." It might have been Green instead of Blue? She'd never read them, though.

"Well, I don't mind letting you talk my ears off. I can put them back on." She might have had a minor case of kira-kira right then.

Hethel absorbed the praise with an unchanging expression, not knowing what to think of it. She gave a nod. "My thanks. I might be. Considering this." She added, gesturing to the pamphlets, meaning the Boogeymen. Some day, maybe when she had more of a grasp of this entire area. Or perhaps this is how she would learn it?

Not wanting to interrupt the rather enthused discussion between the procolici and the booth's occupant, Hethel took the opportunity to stash the bat away. Both arms and plushie seemed to disappear into her feathers momentarily, but only the arms made a reappearance. With a last bob of her head, she made motion to leave.

Rhiannon almost didn't visit this booth, she was too preoccupied with trying to dry herself off from her fall into the Frozen Pond. She glanced over at the various visitors crowding around it however, so she decided to at least take a look. She flipped through a pamphlet absently, listening to the conversation, and spied the blank bats standing at attention behind the Professor. Already finished bats lined the tabletop, but after reading the sign it seemed she needed to ask a question first. She thought about it, grabbed a sleepy-looking pen and a slip of paper and wrote:

Quote:

QUESTION FOR THE QUESTION BOX
What characteristics/qualities do you look for in a potential candidate?

She folded it and slid the paper into the box, picking up a Reaper Dorms bat. After a little bit of thought, she also set down 13 Seeds and took an Amityville one while waiting her turn.

While wondering around the booths Monty came upon one that was unusually quite compared to the others. He took a few steps closer and picked up a pamphlet and began to read it.
"interesting." He muttered to himself as he finished reading. He was about to walk off when the box with the ? caught his eye along with the bats. He grabbed one of the pens and wrote down his questions making sure he had enough so he could get all the bats he wanted. When he got done counting he folded the paper in half before slipping it in the box. After which he grabbed one of the undead looking bats along with Amityville one and a white one so he could color it.
He quickly set to work coloring the plush, stopping every few minutes to decide what to do next.
When he was finally done he turned to the Professor and held up his little creation.

QUESTION FOR THE QUESTION BOX

Do you have to know all the laws before becoming a Boogeyman
Are the laws hard to enforce?
Do civilians do the same types of jobs as the real Boogeyman?
What happens if you don't want to be a boogeyman anymore?
Whats the worst thing to ever happen to a boogeyman?

Marushii
hope it's ok to put all the question in one post to cover the cost of the bats!!

The look of shock on the student's face brought a small cough of embarrassment from Red. "Yeah, I remember that series as well. It was a good show to teach young scarelings how to be brave and to accept themselves. Halloween's culture has shambled a long way from where it began."

"There've been many comics, but to be honest I didn't read much of them. Summaries yes, but I mostly watched the show and live action plays," she admitted further with a laugh.

The professor nodded to the student. "Thank you for your consideration, however I advise that you keep your options open. There are many careers in Halloween, and a Boogeyman is just one of them. Safe travels, student."

The soft clink of silver seeds on the counter prompted the professor to reach back behind her and grab a blank bat plushie in order to gently set it down in front of Rhiannon. "Thank you for your donation," Red told her as she collected the seeds, "Please take your time."

"Ah! An excellent plush!" Red complimented when Monty held up his creation. "Yellow cloaks are pretty bright in towns, but they're excellent for traversing the desert or hiding amongst autumn leaves."

littledevils freakzoid
That's fine!

QUICK OOC ANNOUNCEMENT!

I am going to be GONE irl from the 15-21st! Just assume Red's working on a plush and making small talk, and that she'll hand blank plushies to those that write three questions/pay for one~

Shehk laughed a bit. "Shambled is a good word." she said - nice and undead to it, but given how strangely the races behaved between each other over time and how things were still slowly improving (easier to see in the younger folks).....

Yeah.

"I didn't read 'em either, I just remember seeing them while I was looking for something else." she nodded. "Say, is there any sort of like..testing they require to become a Boogeyman?"

Monty continued to grin as he patted the little bat on the head "Interesting, I'll have to keep that in mind." he nodded to the professor as he tucked it into is jacket. "Thanks." he said as he walked off.

"Thank you." Rhiannon picked up the little bat gently, thinking about what she would do with it. She picked up a marker, started to color it, didn't like it, recolored it, added some touches here and there and thought that there was something missing...
Eyes wide, she rummaged around her bag that held her extra clothes (should she fall into the Frozen Pond again), and managed to scrape together some loose sequins and some glitter from inside to add to it.

Satisfied, she took a step back to admire her handiwork.

Mayaa had been distracted with all the other booths and hadn't had time to visit this particular booth, but when she passed by it once more and saw the little plushies, she knew she had to have one.

"Oh! Oh, um... can I get the monster bat plushie?"
She peeked shyly behind the professor and noticed a few blank templates. Oh! She could colour herself one?

"C-can I also make myself one also?"
Reaching into the pouch tied to her waist, she pulled out 13 gilded pumpkin seeds and offered them to Red.
