Her steps were unsteady made worse by the rickety bridge and sliding wood panels she was trying to step upon. Grasping onto the ropes, she held on for dear life. But the wind seemed to have other plans for her bridge crossing today. Ralifa groaned as the bridge swayed back and forth, back and forth. Leaning forward heavily, she caught herself just before she went tumbling over the edge.

But then she was faced with the fact that there was absolutely nothing below. Her eyes wide she stared. So....far down. There was nothing. At least nothing that she could see. It was a large, gaping mouth that would swallow her whole if she dare go over the rope.

The bridge shook even more violently. Bouncing up and down as the familiar thump thump thump and noise of rusty metal scraping against itself returned. Perhaps she had stared for too long because her pursuer was right on top of her now!

There was no where to run. No time to scream. Hands grabbed her, cold as ice. Ralifa kicked and screamed as she was dragged back off the bridge, onto solid ground. She beat clenched fists against it's face, but nothing worked. She kicked at it's stomach, no reaction.

Rolling in the dirt, she tried to scramble away only to be dragged back by her ankle and roughly turned over. She couldn't move now. There were knees holding her arms down as a heavy body sat on her chest. Eyes clenched shut only momentarily as she shuddered at the snipping noise of the scissors.

A soothing, cool voice. "Don't worry, It only hurts once."

"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!" She tried to thrash about but it was no use. Ralifa had been caught, she was the prey. And in that moment a sense of weakness drove home that realization. She was weak. She couldn't protect herself, she couldn't protect anyone. How could she be a Goddess if she couldn't even do that?

A stabbing pain ripped through her chest as the rusty scissors were stabbed over and over again into her. Prying open her being, her heart her core pulsing with fear. Ralifa felt faint, the life draining from her as her blood ran cold. More snipping noises, she turned her head to stare out at nothing.

This was it. The end of her journey.

The last thing she saw was the black figure walking away, carrying her heart. An eye for an eye. Or perhaps more a heart for a heart.

Day 3 Task

Once again she was summoned. Though this time was wasn't as much on edge as the last two times. Was it because the Goddess that she now found here was much more inviting and perhaps a bit more agreeable with? She didn't feel like she was openly being judged. The Goddess made her feel...loved.

But of course she loved the Goddess too. She loved all the Goddesses in their own special ways. This Goddess loved her most though. And that was nice. She enjoyed being favored upon.

"Experience love....?" Had she not already experienced it? Was the Goddesses love not enough?

She blinked as the gate appeared behind her, the grey foliage and soon the empty table there as well. Beckoned foward, Ralifa stepped through the gate and approached the table without a word. Ambient music played softly in the background, had it always been playing? She did not know, perhaps she hadn't really been paying attention.

Soft flakes, softer and more solid than the fog was falling now. Her feet crunching as she stepped closer to the table. Like snow but no where near as cold. It gave everything around her a haze. Eyes were drawn to two jars in front of her that had suddenly appeared. One pink, one blue. Ralifa could feel happiness from the pink and an odd sense of mild sadness and anticipation coming from the blue.

She had never been one for blue so she took the pink jar. Drink me. Lifting the jar to her lips, she slowly drank. Gulp after slow gulp until all it's contents were gone, she dropped the jar but it didn't shatter as it bounced and rolled off the table.

A warm feeling began in her stomach. Spreading, creeping through out the rest of her body. She felt happy. At peace. The table top began to spin and she didn't even mind. Then ti stopped and there was a smorgasbord of snacks and treats. The cake looked sweet and delicate, so she choose it over the cookies.

It was sweet and a feeling of utter euphoria washed over her. Like a wave crashing against a rocky shore. If the world wasn't spinning before it sure was now and she was beginning to feel a bit overwhelmed by all these emotions hitting her at once. She placed a hand on the table to steady herself.

Drink, drink. She needed something to drink. Tea, yes, tea. There were tea cups sitting there. The gold was shiny but it was the more colorful tea cup that drew her attention. She drank from it, almost guzzling this time. A feeling of love broke. She felt loved, cared for, at peace. So much that she could not even use words to describe how she felt.

Her heart fluttered.

---

The sound of waves crashing against soft sound filled her ears, the sky bright, the air warm as water clung to it. Sunlight washing over the shore. She had spent most of her day here, searching for sea shells and other things that had been washed upon by the sea.

Gathering up a bunch of things in a pouch, she scrambled back to the blanket that was set out. A familiar figure sitting upon it smiled at her as she fiddled with some random objects. "Look!" Ralifa held out the items she had gathered. It wasn't often they came here but it was a nice trip every time they did. The woman patted her head with a soft, lyrical chuckle. Murmuring something about being so young.

A little crab shuffled by catching Ralifa's attention. "Where do you think you are going?" She pouted at it playfully. Scrambling from the blanket to chase after it. Small hands reaching out until a sharp pain stung her finger. The crab had pinched her! Tears welled up in her eyes as she began to cry, holding her finger as she ran back to the woman on the blanket and flopping into her arms, gathered up in a swath of veils and tender arms she sniffed and buried her tear streaked face into her chest. A hand rubbing her back to sooth her.

"Shhhhh....little one. Don't be so silly, stop your crying. He was only shaking hands. But since he has no hands to shake yours with he can only pinch your fingers. Do not fault him for things he cannot do properly." The words brought calm to her as she curled up in her arms. She was right, the crab had no hands he didn't mean to pinch her.

------

As quickly as it came, it was gone. She stared at the teapot in her hands with misty eyes.

Colour of Tea Tasted: Medium-brown
Description: Sand, salt. A burning twist, but a warm and pleasant finish.

Your commentary on its flavour:
A memory that reminded him, vaguely, of the one and only memory he himself had been allowed to keep. But then, too, the comforting words at the end made him think of something else: made him think of the Goddess, removing something painful, saying it was for his own good.

The woman in the memory did not take the pain away: instead she explained it, carefully and comfortingly. She trusted that the explanation would make sense. And her trust had not been misplaced. And was this not better--to keep the pain, but understand it? To have more knowledge than before you were hurt than to have less?

The thought shook him. This was the core of what had been gnawing at him. This was everything.

Colour of Tea Tasted: Kind of a light to medium brown..
Description: warm, sweet, wet, and gritty? however a nice soft finish.

Your commentary on its flavour: She herself could not remember a memory quite like this one. Still, it brought a nice warm feeling with it and she had to admit that she wished that she had a memory just like this. The happiness of the child? mixed with the slight pain and confusion that was alleviated by the woman was a nice touch. She rather liked the fact that the woman seemed willing to explain things to one so seemingly young.

Also The feeling that the child would trust such and explanation made her smile and then frown. It had been so simple, and yet she could not shake the fact that it was not the real reason the crab had hurt the child. Still, it had been accepted. Had the child trusted this woman that much? Maybe that was needed sometimes?

Colour of Tea Tasted: Some sort of brown.
Description: Warmth, kindness, and a pleasant end.

Your commentary on its flavour:
He felt like he had experienced something similar a long time ago - An elder woman who will chase the pain away, cooing a child into silence in an attempt to comfort them. Though while the pain might not ever go away quick enough, the idea that someone is there to try and make it better was always welcomed. This memory was endearing and warm, and one of learning.

Though, for him, while this memory was warm and endearing, a little part of him feels envious. Strange.

Colour of Tea Tasted: Mustard
Description: Joyous, adventurous, curious, trusting.

Your commentary on its flavour:
Ah, yes, Axel thought to himself. A mother's love for a child, and a child's love for their mother - a bond not easily broken or defeated. The trust the child had in their mother's explanation of the crab, the mother being able to keep so calm about it and not freak the child out. Maternal love - for some reason, it hurt to think of the concept.

Colour of Tea Tasted: Golden
Description: Playful, a little painful, but soothed with warmth in the end.

Your commentary on its flavour: ... am I the only one who didn't have anything like this? No, no, there was that other tea... there was a bit of pain in this one, but it only made the rest sweeter by contrast. Such a beautiful place, and such warm arms... what must it be like to be cared for like that, to have even a small pain taken away from you? Is this what the Goddess is doing for us right now?

Colour of Tea Tasted: A warm, comforting brown
Description: Warm and sweet.

Your commentary on its flavour: Sipping the tea, Wyng at first was strongly reminded of her own. Both of them had loved their mothers greatly, but unlike Wyng, this person's mother had stayed with them, had continually held them close and safe. A little envious, Wyng put the cup down.

Colour of Tea Tasted: Dark Gold
Description: Breezy, salty, warm, smooth.

Your commentary on its flavour: Even after the cup was empty, Repoem held onto it as he hunched over it. The sensation was... strange. It was something he had never felt before, but that short glimpse was more than enough to make him yearn for it again. This feeling, this warmth -- he wanted to know who had brewed it, if only to ask them what it meant.
