Day 3 Task
Once again she was summoned. Though this time was wasn't as much on edge as the last two times. Was it because the Goddess that she now found here was much more inviting and perhaps a bit more agreeable with? She didn't feel like she was openly being judged. The Goddess made her feel...loved.
But of course she loved the Goddess too. She loved all the Goddesses in their own special ways. This Goddess loved her most though. And that was nice. She enjoyed being favored upon.
"Experience love....?" Had she not already experienced it? Was the Goddesses love not enough?
She blinked as the gate appeared behind her, the grey foliage and soon the empty table there as well. Beckoned foward, Ralifa stepped through the gate and approached the table without a word. Ambient music played softly in the background, had it always been playing? She did not know, perhaps she hadn't really been paying attention.
Soft flakes, softer and more solid than the fog was falling now. Her feet crunching as she stepped closer to the table. Like snow but no where near as cold. It gave everything around her a haze. Eyes were drawn to two jars in front of her that had suddenly appeared. One pink, one blue. Ralifa could feel happiness from the pink and an odd sense of mild sadness and anticipation coming from the blue.
She had never been one for blue so she took the pink jar.
Drink me. Lifting the jar to her lips, she slowly drank. Gulp after slow gulp until all it's contents were gone, she dropped the jar but it didn't shatter as it bounced and rolled off the table.
A warm feeling began in her stomach. Spreading, creeping through out the rest of her body. She felt happy. At peace. The table top began to spin and she didn't even mind. Then ti stopped and there was a smorgasbord of snacks and treats. The cake looked sweet and delicate, so she choose it over the cookies.
It was sweet and a feeling of utter euphoria washed over her. Like a wave crashing against a rocky shore. If the world wasn't spinning before it sure was now and she was beginning to feel a bit overwhelmed by all these emotions hitting her at once. She placed a hand on the table to steady herself.
Drink, drink. She needed something to drink. Tea, yes, tea. There were tea cups sitting there. The gold was shiny but it was the more colorful tea cup that drew her attention. She drank from it, almost guzzling this time. A feeling of love broke. She felt loved, cared for, at peace. So much that she could not even use words to describe how she felt.
Her heart fluttered.
---
The sound of waves crashing against soft sound filled her ears, the sky bright, the air warm as water clung to it. Sunlight washing over the shore. She had spent most of her day here, searching for sea shells and other things that had been washed upon by the sea.
Gathering up a bunch of things in a pouch, she scrambled back to the blanket that was set out. A familiar figure sitting upon it smiled at her as she fiddled with some random objects.
"Look!" Ralifa held out the items she had gathered. It wasn't often they came here but it was a nice trip every time they did. The woman patted her head with a soft, lyrical chuckle. Murmuring something about being so young.
A little crab shuffled by catching Ralifa's attention.
"Where do you think you are going?" She pouted at it playfully. Scrambling from the blanket to chase after it. Small hands reaching out until a sharp pain stung her finger. The crab had pinched her! Tears welled up in her eyes as she began to cry, holding her finger as she ran back to the woman on the blanket and flopping into her arms, gathered up in a swath of veils and tender arms she sniffed and buried her tear streaked face into her chest. A hand rubbing her back to sooth her.
"Shhhhh....little one. Don't be so silly, stop your crying. He was only shaking hands. But since he has no hands to shake yours with he can only pinch your fingers. Do not fault him for things he cannot do properly." The words brought calm to her as she curled up in her arms. She was right, the crab had no hands he didn't mean to pinch her.
------
As quickly as it came, it was gone. She stared at the teapot in her hands with misty eyes.
