Trying for The Soul achievement! SOLO Your name is Licraesa and you don't know nearly enough about the world. You have forgotten something, but the world around you is cold and grey and you are alone.
You were something, once, you think, but trying to remember results in nothing but sorrow, nothing but frustration at the lack of success your introspection brings. You taste it, in the air, the paranoia that you may not ever be able to remember.
You miss your goddess.
She touched you, once (twice, a dozen, a thousand times), in the subway of her realm, but you've gone back again to that place and she's not there. You sit and you wait and you close your eyes and hope but hope never got anyone anywhere, so you are alone in the flickering dark.
You press your palms to your eyes and lick your teeth, gritting them, fingers winding into your hair as you feel the urge to scream rising. You swallow it before it gets out, but double over in the process, because your goddess pulled you from the dark/void/perdition, and she has abandoned you here alone.
Selfishly, you never asked for this. You never asked to be alive, never mind the fact that you do not know how to define what alive truly means. You are a grey girl in a large grey world surrounded by others that wander just like you, killing the shambling monsters of the fog.
Your heart thumps, and it swirls yellow-blue-canary-cerulean-lemon-cornflower-sunshine-azure.
Something in you wonders about where you are and what you're doing. A question that lurks in your heart like sticky black strings, constricting it, and a saying floats to your mind that curiosity killed the cat. The memory of the fragments in the ruins come to your mind, but the memories themselves have long since slipped away.
You are on a loop, stuck on stuck on stuck on stuck on repeat. You wander outwards, you kill the creatures, you meet people (friends/foes/allies/companions), but you do not remember their name nor do you talk to them after. You fight together because of a reason you can't quantify.
Because the goddess wishes it? Because you want to cleanse the land? Because you want to become stronger? You sit where the goddess met you, and you wonder, to the tune of live wires and malfunctioning speakers, to the visuals of dancing lights that flicker, to the hope of something larger:
