As I shimmered onto the roof of the tallest building, my smart right boot perched onto the head of a gargoyle infront of me. My left boot comfortably placed on the edge of the roof, A cigarette in my mouth being smoked casually as I peered down at the scene led before me. Observing the many faces, the many different people dancing to the lovely sounds of Electro-Swing, the swing instruments mixed seemlessly with a hip hop beat and electronic bass lines. Taking a short glance to my right I see a crow perched next to me as I tip my head to it smiling, turning back to the people dancing away in their drug fueled alcohol riddled brains. "Guess I better make an appearance then" Finishing the last of my cigarette throwing it apon the roof edge. My Left boot moving in a crescent kick circle before slamming it apon the butt, crushing it into the flooring.

As I jump from the roof with my body straight, my arms out stretched doing one front summer sault as I shimmer down and down to the ground. I land next to a gentlemen serving absinthe, gripping a hold of one of the green liquid filled cocktail glasses, I make my advance through the crowd into the dense amount of people looking for a little bit of 'fun'.

"I am happy to see people talking! This is good, this is great! This is..."

The host's voice rang out over the crowd while the bass of the beat sunk lower. A few of the Faceless Nobodies began to fade from existence, replaced, it seems, by those who came to join the party.

"Fantastic." This time there was no questioning the quality of sinister that lived in the host's voice.

"May I remind those of you who joined us, there is no magic to be done here, none at all. It won't even work, and if it does work, then," and his voice dipped to another low, "we will have to change that, now won't we?" His voice sprang into itself again, "now food and beverages will be making a circuit at the end of this phrase and before the beginning of the last paragraph."

And so they did, burgers of all sorts and sodas, as well as water and juices, floated on platters pasts the guests. Obviously the Faceless Nobodies had nothing, so they kept dancing. But the platters were particularly pushy to get to the guests that might actually consume them.

"Enjoy." He didn't taint them, if you're wondering.

Valerie shook her head and smiled warmly Ashe. "He really does."

She sighed in relief. "So glad I've found a confidant in this hubbub. I'm Valerie, but you call me Val if you'd like. Do you know anyone here?"

Carousel sipped on some punch and leaned watched a bit as his tail swayed from side to side. Naturally, the Faceless Nobodies were people he had haunting his nightmares. There was just something about not having a face that was absolutely terrifying. (Or is that the writer's perspective? Ahem...) Anywho he figured he might as well mingle a little and he wandered over to the lovely ladies to spark up a bit of conversation.

"I hope I am not interrupting, but I thought I'd compliment the both of you on your appearance. You both have lovely outfits," he said a bit awkwardly, nodding to each Ashe and Valerie respectively.

If he was trying to hit on them, he didn't even know what he was doing. Nor did he really even have the thought cross his mind. He figured mingle, and try to start a conversation about normal things, rather than the usual.

Even if the end of the world did come, there were some that the end had already claimed. Amid the derelict building's scarred with vandalism and years of neglect, the quad was brimming with life. Left over window panes vibrated from the pulsing beat of electric music, lights flooded the entryway to the night.

The sound could wake the dead, or at least, the spirits. From the alleyway between two of the four buildings a mischievous hazel eyed head peered out. Black curls tumbling over her slender shoulders, her form was shaking from excitement as she abandoned the alleyway and followed the trail to the party, her body was doused by the soft golden glow of the clock tower. She looked back to it briefly before she entered the building and was intoxicated by the mind altering music she heard.

In a simple green dress that clung to her curves she confidently stepped out onto the dance floor, her eyes were wide with fascination, drinking in the vision of the host. He seemed to be observing the party much like a mad king over looked his kingdom, the thought even made her giggle. Then she turned, her eyes moving over the bodies of the party, looking into their faces, they seemed like an interesting enough lot.

Reve watched as the guests paired off into predictable arrangements. It seemed this story wasn't going to be a new one, but at least it had life. The first thing, however, that caught Reve's attention was the host's proclamation on the use of magic. He shifted uncomfortably; although he had no magical abilities himself, he knew his arrival here was precipitated by a type of magic. It would be the same when he left. Yet something about their host made him narrow his eyes in suspicion. His grip tightened on the book beneath his arm.

A figure landing just outside the door frame Reve was now standing at prompted the pale figure to duck a little ways back into the shadow of the building. Instead of jumping at the opportunity to mingle, he looked out over the crowd and watched everything. Attempting to be discreet, he opened his book out in the palm of a free hand, then proceeded to remove a pen from his pocket. Lowering himself to a crouch against the frame, Reve now began making his attentive observations within the musty old tome.

As I had landed and grabbed my cocktail glass of absinthe, I spinned on my heel to look down at the man in the door frame, cocking my head to the side seeing that he has a face. Looking back up to the roof where the raven had been perched and then back to the man on the floor, " is that creature yours sir? " smiling quite normally at the pale figure, gesturing with his hand all around " Do you feel that? it is almost eerie is it not? No faces, being gathered here like a herd to the slaughter. The host said no magic? I believe he has not seen true magic yet. "

Cutting his sentence short he bowed to the man, out stretched his hand and gestured to help the man up as a henchman of the host bumped into my side trying to grip ahold of his saber. He met the bump with an embrace as if hugging the man, flicking his wrist of the sharp very thin blade left its holster sliding into the henchman's lungs slowly filling them with blood. To anyone around it looked like the henchman had just embraced his hug and slumped into me, Then quickly shimmering myself and the henchmen onto the roof to the pale man it would look like our bodies were still there but they were blurred some how. Placing the body onto the roof with haste, a little snack for the pale mans bird, shimmering back down to the very same position he was in as if he had made the man disappear returning to have his hand held out to help the man up.

" Join me for a stroll won't you, maybe we can help each other, make sense of this strange scene? " smiling at the man once more.

[Just for everyones information the very thin wrist blade is on a spring system so as soon as the blade is started to be moved again it disappears just incase anyone was going to try and catch me out, thanks.]

Lissianna was just starting to move her hips to the music, feeling the overwhelming desire to lose herself to the beat when at her side a tray of drinks appeared at her side. Eying the shot glasses primly, she wondered which one to down first as she reached up and picked up the closest one.

The tray swept away, but it brought her gaze to the back of a most peculiar guest. A staff clung to his back, and from his dark attire it also seemed he was wet. Which Lissi knew right away was odd, outside had been dry as any other day. Making sure she stopped another drink tray she swigged another shot of straight whiskey for courage as she followed through the gyrating masses of people, the music drowning out the deafening silence of her still heart. She hadn't seen yet what had pulled him back to retreat and wondered why he seemed to be leaving so promptly.

She kept him in her periphery, watching as he slid to a crouch with a weathered book. Curious, she sidled up to his side instead of a direct approach. She didn't say anything at first, just played the quiet observer as she gave him a sideways glance and a small smile. "Odd place to sit for a read, wouldn't you say?" Her voice was soft like velvet. Her eyes moving back over the dance floor, greedily eating up the view. She still felt the need to 'shake what her mother gave her'. Her eyes gliding over the host and his visitors.

Reve barely noticed when a woman in a green dress with piercing eyes stepped out of the crowd and approached him. He had been sketching something into the ancient parchment when a voice broke him from his reverie. His eyes shot upward and caught sight of her figure before following her gaze toward the party beyond. "Maybe," he said as he returned to his work. "But that's not a reason to avoid it."

When he looked up again to introduce himself, Reve felt his heart nearly leap into his throat as the stranger from the roof turned toward him. His writing paused, pen on the tail of a letter, the ghostly figure replied, "You could say that." The caw of the bird above would barely be audible over the beat of the music. Not quite taking the man's hand, the phantom stood and said, "But some days, I think it owns me." In response to the rest, Reve narrowed his eyes and looked out at the crowd for only a brief moment. "It seems too convenient, yes."

When the stranger reacted strongly to an approaching figure, Reve felt his breath catch in his throat. Although he didn't see the blade, he did notice one very subtle detail: the spot of blood that grew from the victim's chest. It was well camouflaged among his dark attire, and Reve doubted anyone else could see it from any vantage point other than his own. Still, he regained his focus and shut the book as he tucked an arm behind him, hand lighting upon the ivory steel body of the staff.

He glanced between the dead man and his grim reaper, making sure the lady that approached him was also in sight. When the death dealer spoke again, Reve seemed skeptical. "Why did you do that?"

[Just so you know my shimmer ability, is like jumping from the film jumper or kinda like teleporter leaving a trail of our images, i also placed the man onto the roof and shimmered back down here, but dont worry about it.]

" The bird owns you? Mmmmm, interesting concept " looking at the man with a plan smile, eyes always scanning the enviroment but just observing for anymore henchman of the estranged host. Cocking my head back up to meet the gaze of the pale man, looking curious at how he would of managed to spot the flawless techniques which had been practiced for many decades. But looking presently surprised at the man I replied " No one touch's my Sabre, if the host has men going around trying to disarm people and the actualy host himself has the look of a psycopathic flesh devouring maniac, then i have the right to be concerned and make sure my livelyhood is protected ".

Nodding my head to the girl and letting out a small smile, hoping that having my back turned to her and the loud blasting music would negate any chance of her hearing our conversation. Turning so that they could now both see him, pushing my hand closing into my jacket pocket. Retrieving a deck of cards which the back of them had an image of a sinister joker, opening the pack and placing the box back into my pocket. " would you both like to see a trick " as my eyes flicker between the two infront of me and the host, always keeping a close eye on him.

Lissi listened to his wisdom, bring her fingers to her lips in thought. She was most interested in what he was scribbling in that book, she was about to ask and peek over when she finally noticed the other party goer. Suddenly her acquaintance turned to the door, she took a step to follow him but paused and was rooted to the floor.

"Oh no," she whispered under her breathe, her eyes going wide as she fidgeted. Her eyes trailing slowly over the new comer, from his booted feet, over his black jacket. She tried to move closer to hear what they were saying but it was as if the stunning bass grew louder and drowned out their muffled conversation. She looked to the second man, she only saw his back, which was large, and she guessed underneath his jacket he was muscled. When he looked over his shoulder at her she gave him a cold stare back.

When he reached into his pocket she felt trepidation and wasn't sure if these two men were the kind of men she should be socializing with. Or at least one, she thought with annoyance. She looked at the strange deck of his, a joker grinning back at her with what seemed to me malice almost. She looked up at the strangers face, even with the strobe lights she had a hard time seeing his features. "What kind of trick?" she asked, as she turned back to the other man again, watching to see his reactions. She felt maybe he was the lesser of two evils at this moment, where as the other gave her a vibe of reckless endangerment.

Lissianna flashed a nervous glance upwards to where there host was standing, still ever strong at the helm of his world.

As the stranger explained his rash action, Reve felt himself tense. No doubt he was worried that a man carrying several deadly weapons was also jumping to conclusions based on aesthetics and intuition. When that man was finished with his explanation, the ghostly figure frowned, "I've seen many tales involving death." His staunch gaze was firmly set on the murderer. "They rarely end well."

When the man began to change the topic, and the woman responded to it, Reve took a tentative step forward. He shared the woman's glance for a moment through his pupilless eyes, hoping that she was thinking the same thing; she had seemed as uncomfortable as Reve in this situation, after all. He remained a fair distance from the stranger as he replied, "I'm not sure how many more tricks we can handle." As the man began his trick with a card, the pale figure's grip tightened even more noticeably around the book he had been carrying. Reve could feel his throat tighten as he addressed the lady, "It may be best if we join the party after all."

" I would just like you to know, I may seem like a evil man " as i am flicking the cards between each hand and then flicking them over to the other hand in a rainbow shape, the strobe lights flickering, illuminating my chiselled soft features on my face. One card floating from the pack, it is a joker which is spinning showing the back and then the front again, with another flash of the strobe lights the card is gone, gesturing to the top of the mans book where the card now is. " this party is like the trick you just saw, an illusion which has been created to draw you all here, some guests like myself and you and some we have not met yet, and some guests which have been here way before the party... " smiling at thm once more. " another trick perhaps? " two cards rise from the deck and fly into their hands, as soon as the cards make contact with their skin they are then transported to the edge of the roof with myself being in the middle.

The faceless nobodies still dancing away as if they were going to dance until their feet bleed, until they would drop dead. This thought made me smile, looking left and right, looking at the man and the woman gesturing at our house. " Look at this man, he has an ulterior motive I am just a trained man that has interest in strange little gatherings like this I have to hone my skills every now and again. Just some advice if anything happens you just say ....... Quezariban, i shall be there, would you like to get down now? " gesturing to the ground at the two guests by my sides. Shimmering some seed onto my hand, the crow flying and perching onto my wrist allowing it to feed from my hand as i look calmly down onto the party.

Ed became aware that people were looking at him, he was supposed to be invisible, or rather, he technically didn't exist in the vicinity at the time. But there he was, and so away he went, giggling into the clouded sky until his laughter become one with the thunder.

Instead, in his place, a scaly hunched-over reptillian sauntered onto the stage and tapped the microphone, interrupting the Faceless Nobodies who turned to stare at him, as if they had eyes. If Silkax could sweat, he'd be drenched.

"Uh...uh...uhm...uh..." way to go guy, "Shut up!" he shouted at no one in particular, "It was to you." you can't do that Silkax.

The reptillian waved an impotent fist at the sky and grumbled something about the type of demon he was, all of which culminated in a mumble over the microphone, serving to get the attention of anyone who wasn't already staring at the odd spectacle of a demon talking to itself on stage.

Now if he could focus.

"Fine, I am here in our host's place to..." said with such utter distaste the bile might've risen from his very throat if he could produce any, "'mingle.'"

"Direct any questions you might have towards me and I'll be," he lifted his four-fingered hands and made air-quotes, "'happy', to answer them."

"Edward P. Tuttle would like to invite you to spread out, split up, and generally do things you wouldn't think to do....I'm going to get off the stage and go get wasted now." And so the surly lizard thumped his way off stage and found the nearest floating alcohol platter, reached for one, only to watch it disappear and one of Tuttle's hands to appear and wag a finger at him with a disembodied "tut tut" to boot.

Silkax groaned.

"Maybe skipping one song doesn't hurt?" Lissi spoke in a small curious voice, it was still bothering her she didn't know their names. But at the moment she was enthralled by the strangers going ons, his book, and the others cards. Her eyes followed the movements of the cards, even as the lights made it hard for her mind to follow any single card.

As the man spoke though she became increasingly more uncomfortable, her eyes narrowed at the mention of trickery going on, she looked around again and her eyes fell on a most hideous reptilian...Thing. She looked disgusted for a second, then smoothed over her features for one more suited for impassive curiosity.

Then the magicians words settled in her mind, an illusion could be a dangerous dream. The bodies jiving and mindlessly moving to the music, an illusion could trap them for hours or worse if they weren't careful. Then a single card came toward her, she opened her hand to catch it, and as the aged card fell between her fingers all of a sudden she was weightless and the world was dark. She materialized back on the roof, she gasped, her hand traveling to her throat. She hadn't been so close to reversing her corporeal state since arriving at the party til that moment. She darted her eyes over her form nervously, as if searching for a thread out of place. She still looked whole, she heaved a large sigh and wiped off her brow. Then seeming to remembered she had company she gave a dazzling smile to both strangers.

"Quezariban?" Lissianna said thoughtfully, to commit his name to memory. "Is that your real name or a calling card of sorts? I'm Lissianna." Lissi looked off the building, it was a long drop to the ground. "But this talk of illusions and trickery, I have a feeling something deeper is happening here." Her gaze looked at the entire complex, "Why at this quad? In fact, this whole seems more eerie now than the once inviting hub of a party. A trap, tempting the flies to the Venus fly trap."

"But if he wanted us to come here, why not surprise our most generous host by finding out who he really is, why he invited us here, and other such muck." Although as she looked out over the quad, it was hard to imagine secrets. Until her eyes fell on a sign poorly scribbled with red spray paint over the buildings walls, Keep Out!. "Why not start with the obvious?" Lissianna pointed out the building adjacent to this one. Obviously, tell her not to go somewhere, she was going to go there. In fact, that was the exact reasoning that brought her to her gruesome end before.
