Zera crooned a bit in interest as it was taken, breaking into soft laughter as he was bapped at again by accident. Wings, hm? He'd been told he had his own wings... not that he was sure what was curled against his back counted for more than another set of bony arms that had no sensation as of yet other than being there at all.
"Hmm, can't now... but eventually." Zera smiled faintly, taking the broken open pomegranate and pulling it to his face. He took a deep breath of the thing's aroma, sighing it off as he tentatively nibbled at it.
Good grief, what a tart fruit, but it was spectacularly flavored. He kept at little nibbles, smiling to Tuala as eyelids lowered again. "Thank you. It works perfectly."

Tuala laughed awkwardly and took a seat on the floor by him, so the wings stretched out back behind him. "I'll let you get a better look at them...with your hands or something and not your cheeks. In a minute." he giggled a bit and reached up to brush more of the sparkles off of his roommate's cheek.
He wasn't too far shorter than a seated Zera, even sitting here, and managed to at least fluff his wings out a bit so they stretched side to side instead of just back.

A bit of laughter arose and he turned into having his cheek brushed off again. It was good that he was understanding, not so much fretting over his blindness. They'd get used to each other, and that realization relaxed the blind one as he nibbled into the pomegranate happily.
He could at least gather that Tuala was sitting in front of him, having heard the wings stretch out. A croon of curiosity arose at the hints of their enormity.
"They sound... huge, but different from a bird... not like mine..." he mused as he silenced himself with the pomegranate again. The skeletal wings at his back shifted, all but creaking unwillingly. He'd been told his wings were bird's, but that they were... bare, whatever that meant. He couldn't really reach them to find out, and in honesty the technicians didn't make him eager to.

"That's cause I have insect wings. Moth wings. You have little bony bird wings right now." he reached back and stroked a hand along the bone wings against Zera's back lightly. "Feel?"
They felt strange to him but they weren't his wings which was probably why.

Instinctively the bone wings jerked back, drawing a gasp from Zera and a surprised expression. He'd felt it, but not much; still far more than they were used to, and it startled him considerably.
His brow furrowed some. "... bony?"
Was that what was meant by "bare"? The pomegranate lowered, a morose sort of look taking his face as one hand released it to run along the thin length of his forearm, pondering over the bones beneath.
Wings couldn't work if they were just bone, as much as arms couldn't work if they had no muscle. So he had eyes that didn't work, and wings that didn't work either?

"Yeah. They don't have any feathers right now. But I'm sure you'll grow some." he shyly pet the wing, leaving it flat before pulling his hand back and stroking Zera's cheek with his knuckle and pat his head, leaning back again awkwardly and picking up the menu again to look over what he could get to eat - that fruit didn't look THAT appealing plus it was Zera's.
"Do you want anything to drink?"

"Oh."
No feathers. Well... maybe he would grow some. But flying without seeing, how would he do that... at least Tuala was here for now, taking care of him, telling him what the technicians hadn't yet for all their clamor.
He gave a bit of a shudder of his wings as they sank against his back fully again. "I... think water would be fine, but I'm alright for now I think... s'very uh... juicy, this... dafhidi." He grimaced. "Ah. Pomegr... granate."
What even were those words?! He wasn't sure where they came from, or what they meant...

Tuala got his own dinner and got Zera some water, mostly just exploring the rooms and setup and such. The apartment only had a single bedroom but it had been outfitted with two beds since Tuala would need to be able to come over if Zera needed help. Him being sleep or dream type would probably help in future but for now he mostly was just figuring out how to rearrange the bed so his wings wouldn't mess him up.
After a bit and being pretty sure Zera was done eating, the taller boy came back over. "Did they show you the way to any rooms yet? I could guide you to important rooms till we figure out a system for you to get there..."

Tuala's question was met with a bright smile as Zera straightened eagerly. "No, they haven't shown me... I'd love it if you could."
Not knowing how to get around and having to be guided scared the boy a bit, being so damn helpless... learning all he could was all he wanted. Not having the tools to do so was frightening and frustrating.

Tuala smiled a bit and moved to step behind Zera and sorta guide his hand along the wall, helping him feel his way towards certain doors.
"This is where the bathroom is." he opened the door with his hand around Zera's and showed the shorter boy how to feel up to the lightswitch then moved his other hand to feel toward the sink and indicated each item as he guided him to it and it's use.
It was partly helpful for Tuala to figure out how to guide him like this because moving Zera's hands and such to show him gave Tuala a better idea of where he was feeling it and how someone in Zera's position would have to move to reach the things he saw and sort of form mental positions of things. He showed him how to grasp the taps on the sink and the bathtub to get hotter or colder and such and let him test the different water types.
"Remembering it ok so far?" he asked with a dorky awkward tone. Not at all sure what he was doing.

A quiet had taken Zera as he was shown around, but he was smiling somewhat, as understanding of the space was fleshed out and he began to get a real bearing on where he was. The way he was guiding his hands was simply perfect, and he almost could swear he could really see what he was being led around. Sounds behaved differently in different rooms, the air felt different.
"I think I am." he answered, smiling brightly. "I'll get it. I guess it's just about remembering what's what."

"Yeah exactly! Ok good so it's working." He smiled brightly and hugged the shorter boy from behind, squeezing him lightly before letting go and going back to guiding him about. He showed him to the kitchen and to where he'd put away the rest of the fruit, and to where the sink was and where the fridge and freezer opened and all sorts of drawers and cabinets.
After a bit of a tour around the mostly empty building he showed Zera to their room and helped him feel about to figure his way to his own bed and to Tuala's in case he needed anything.
"Uhhhh is there anywhere else?"

Phew. Sure was soaking in a lot of information now... but he knew his way around, mostly.
"I think..." He canted his head some, faintly nuzzling his own shoulder. "... if I do too much more I might forget."
He had a great memory, or so he thought, but with his mind all abuzz with that language he didn't know and all these new experiences, he gathered he'd best not chance it.

Tuala looked Zera over carefully and checked his forehead - a gesture the boy didn't fully understand doing but did anyway. "You should probably nap or sleep or something. I'll be good for you. I think I might too. I dunno." the other boy admitted and showed Zera back to his bed and tucked the other boy in, his wings flopping forward to 'baff!' his cheeks softly.
"I'm gonna be right here ok?"

The batting at his cheeks brought little giggles, and he sank down into the bed gladly. He was tired, having spent a day in such exhaustive learning and doing and gosh, moving around.
"Okay." Zera agreed and shifted himself some for comfort. He was becoming more aware of sounds, glad for the relative silence around here. Tuala made a few sounds that he could instantly recognize now; the wings shifting, the way his breathing held just a bit of his voice, like all people he'd met had.
"... thank you, again, Tuala." he whispered as he pulled a blanket up over his face some just to feel it.
