Death in any form can be life changing. The death of a pet, of a friend, or even the death of someone you have seen but never met. However the death of her father was the one thing that really changed Zuri’s world. He had been all she had, since she had never met her mother. Sure she had her two adopted siblings that she loved more then anything, but at the same time they weren’t her blood. It didn’t change anything really, but at the same time it kind of changed everything. She was only half from the ice tribe; anyone who saw her hair or eyes would be able to tell. With her father gone she felt like she didn’t belong there any more. She felt that even though she had proven herself over the years to the members of the tribe they wouldn’t accept her since his death. As if they only ever did accept her because of him and the position he held. Maybe this was all in her head, but then again maybe it wasn’t. She had received more then one dirty look since her father passed. He had had a heart attack, there was nothing she could have done, though some people looked at her as if she herself had killed him. It was crazy.

Looking around her room most of the things were packed. She was going to leave. She had already talked to her adopted brother Alek about it, and like she thought he didn’t want her to go, but he understood it was something she needed to do. She was half shifter, and she wanted to know more about the people that she had never met. The shifters were her people, well half her people anyways. Before her father died he told her the name of her mother and where she could be found. Although she was scared she knew she would never be happy with herself unless she went over there and got to know more about the Shifters. Plus, the worse that could happen is she could hate the place and come back to the Ice Tribe. At least she would have a lot of stories to tell her siblings. She had written a letter for Kayin, she couldn’t face her sister and tell her she was leaving. She felt bad for leaving her siblings, they had been through enough already, but Alek understood and hopefully Kayin would as well. Plus she would send letters back to them every chance she got, and hopefully they would write back. Alek had promised if she didn’t come back in a few months then he would bring Kayin and the two of them would come and see her in her new home. They might stand out there, but Alek said as long as she liked it up there they would come to see her.

At hearing a knock on her door Zuri took one last look around her room and slowly walked around the house making sure there wasn’t anything there she had to take with her. Satisfied she opened to door to see the man who was taking her with him and his traveling people. He had owed her father a debt, so he told Zuri he would take her with his people and make sure that she had a safe passage. Although it was scary she had faith that this man would do as he said. After all for someone to be considered a friend of her father they had to be at least trust worthy. ”Are you ready?” he asked as he held out a hand to help her with all her stuff. Zuri nodded and handed her the heavier bag. “As ready as I ever will be. May I have a moment alone for a second? I’ll be right there. Promise.” she said with a friendly smile. The gruff man smiled and nodded. He understood that this was a big step for Zuri and had been more then helpful with everything. “Take your time. We’ll leave when your ready.”

Once he was out of ear shot Zuri turned around and put her hands on the doorway. “Good bye home. Good bye father. Perhaps I will be back one day, but if not know that I will be doing great things and meeting new people. I promise that no matter where I go and who I met you will always be my father and I will always keep with me the things that you taught me. I love you father.” she said resting her head on the doorway. At once a gust of wind blew through the house, playing with the bottom of her skirt. Closing her eyes it was almost as if he father was there with her. Almost as if he was telling her it was okay to go and he understood that it was her time. “Thank you for your blessing.” she whispered before opening her eyes and walking away from the place she called home all of her life.

************TIME SKIP**************

Opening her eyes Zuri stirred awake. At first she was confused to where she was, she could feel the movement beneath her but she quickly remembered she was still on the way to Jahuar. They had been traveling for a while, and during her travels she had met all kinds of people. People from the leaf and wind tribe mostly, but also some shifters that were also traveling. She had even met a few people that were halflings like her, something she was always happy to see. A few times people looked at her strangely, and she had heard about a community not letting the traveling people stay because they thought she was bad luck, but other then that she didn’t have any issues. Everyone in the traveling group was nothing but nice to her, and since she helped with all the chores they didn’t see her as a burden. She had become particular found of riding while with them, as well as taking care of the children.

”Your awake! Your awake!” called a youngling from outside the cavern as Zuri climbed out skillfully. At first she had trouble getting out when it was moving, but she had plenty of practice since then. “Good morning darling, any clue of where we are now?” she said picking up the Wind Tribe youngling. He was just small enough that she could carry him and walk for a whiles without feeling uncomfortable but she knew that that wouldn’t last long. She had seen him and the other younglings grow so big in the short time that she knew them. It was wonderful. “We are almost among the Shifters!” he said excitedly as he played with the feathers on her necklace. “Do you really have to stay with them? You could keep traveling with us. Everyone loves you and mama would love to have the extra help. Pleaseeeee.“ he begged snuggling up to her. Laughing Zuri held him closer to her. “You know I have to stay, but fear not. I will have plenty of presents and stories to tell you every time you come through. And if I don’t like it here I will leave with you when you come through next. Sound good?” the little boy sighed, obviously not happy with the deal. “Fine…” he said under his breath. Kissing his head Zuri placed the boy down and watched him run off to find his friends or perhaps his mother.

As she walked Zuri began to worry about what was about to happen. What would her mother think when she saw her? Would she remember her father and the baby she gave away? What about if she had other children, he father never mentioned any other children, but what if they hated her? Or what if she had a husband who saw her as a threat and did everything in his power to make her leave? At once Zuri began to think this whole trip had been a silly idea. She should have stayed home with her siblings, but it wasn’t too late to go back. The travels would be going back to Zena sooner or later, she could just stay with them. But what would Alek and Kayin think of her. She would bea coward, going all this way and not even doing what she came to do. No she had to met her mother, had to find out about the other half of her. For all she knew her mother could be happy to see her, she could have been wondering all about her this whole time and wanting to met the daughter she gave up. The shifters she met on the road had all been kind and nice, maybe her mother’s children and husband would be also? She had been thinking of all the negative things when it could be an amazing reunion! Yes she just had to think positive and not let her fear get the best of her. If her father was here he would tell her that it was all going to be amazing and how proud he was that she was following her dream. Closing her eyes Zuri grabbed her necklace and took a deep breath. She was ready for whatever was thrown her way.

“Zuri dear, come on we’re here. I’ll take you to where your mother lives.”

Home Sick - Zuri & Biroki

I met a shifter name Biroki, he was very nervous around me at first but seemed to relax a little as time went
by. I had so much fun with him, even if we were just picking roots and talking. He saved my life when I was
foolishly trying to show off in the threes. There was a moment where I felt like we were connected but then
he turned away. I left him with a kiss on his check and a spring in my step. I cannot wait to see him again.

Journal 2

Home away from home. It was something she had always heard people say, but never even imagined saying herself. However this place, Jauhar, was becoming her home away from home. Although she still missed her brother and sister more then she could express, she was beginning to seriously think about staying here in Jauhar for good. Unbraiding her hair she sighed. If she really were going to stay she would have to cut her hair soon. It was just so hot here, and even though she had been okay with tying her hair up or braiding it so far, she knew that if she was to stay she would get tired of all that. It was already annoying her all the time, she could only imagine how bothersome it would be after more time had passed. She started playing with her hair, staring at it as she twirled the stands between her fingers. It was just something she would have to do, even if it would be super hard for her. She had never really had her hair short. It was always long, just like most people in the Ice Tribe. She couldn't even remember seeing someone from the Ice Tribe with short hair, at least none of the females. The more that she thought about it even most of the males had longer hair then some of the males she saw here in Jauhar.

Thinking about her hair brought her back to everything she had gone through when she lived in Zena. Zuri began to smile. As she thought back to her past her first memory was the day that the twins moved in with her. She remembered setting up the empty room in her house with two beds and asking her dad all about Alek and Kayin. She had met them before that time, but she had only really talked to them a few times when they their parents organized play dates for them, and since both parents were often busy they didn’t have all that many of them. She remembered thinking that she was ready to have siblings, but she didn’t realize how different her life would be with the two of them in it. At first her and Kayin had butted heads, a lot. They didn't seem to agree about anything and Kayin was always itching for a fight, or at least that was how Zuri saw it. And then there was Alek. He didn't speak to her or her father forever! She remembered hearing him whisper things to Kayin so she would ask their father, but he refused to talk to them. He would even hide from time to time. Oh the first few months had been nothing but trouble with the three of them, her father sure had a handful. But with them everything ended up nice. She and Alek grew closer then she ever thought possible, and Kayin and her always had each others backs. No one ever messed with them since not only was their father on the council but it was widely known that the two of them could hold their own. They even dragged Alek into a fight or two, though until he realized that he had magic on his side he wasn't much help. The more she thought about it he wasn't much help even when he did realize he had magic on his side. He was more likely to run and hide then help in a fight.

Yes when they finally became close the three of them were inseparable. Until she moved away from them they had never been away from each other for more then a day or two. At that thought she grew a little sad, it was her that left them. It was her fault they had been separated. It had already been a few months now and she wished that they would come and see her She missed them greatly, though whenever she thought that she also thought that she didn't miss them enough to leave this place. To leave her new found friends, her new family. Although her family back at home was amazing and she had good memories she also had bad ones. Her father had died over there in Zena, and that was a large reason of why she didn't want to go back. While she carried his good memories with her she was pretty sure that if she was back there in Zena the thought of his death would be everywhere around her. And god forbid she had to go to the healers and be where he finally passed away. She had no negative memories here in Jauhar, only positive ones.

Then there was Biroki, the person who more then anyone else was keeping her here in Jauhar. Although they hadn't known each other for long she felt like she really knew him. There was something about the time they caught each others eyes. There was a connection like no other, that she knew. But how strong was it for him? Was it the same as for her? Toying with her hair she wondered what he would think of her with short hair. For all the time he had known her she had long hair, what if he didn't like it? What if he felt that her long hair was what made her pretty, what made her stand out from all the shifters? No she knew that their connection was more then just a superficial one. Although she was unsure of how he would like her hair better, short or long, she knew that he wouldn't think differently of her with short hair. Plus hair did always grow back.

Standing up she braided her hair and then took it and turned the braid into a bun. As she paced around the little place she called her home she thought about all the other friends she had made and how she had felt that one time she was with Biroki, Aminah, Dyakida, and Briella. They had talked about weapons, and it had made her think more and more what weapon she wanted to finally end up with. On her trip here she started with a training spear, which she had for a while back at home. She always figured that would be the weapon she used, since it was suitable for a rider, but during her travels someone had given her a trident and she really liked it. Running her hands over the two weapons she wondered which one she would call her own when it came time. She had been training with both, but since the little tea party she found that it was the spear that she felt more comfortable. Picking up the spear she felt the weight in her hands and after a few exercises she realized that although the trident was new and exciting she liked the way that the spear moved, it moved with her as part of her body rather then awkwardly like the trident sometimes did.

Yes the spear was her weapon. Letting down her hair from the bun and then unbraiding it she took the sharp edge she moved it close to her shoulders and closed her eyes. This was it, she was either going to cut her hair right then and there or never at all. Taking deep breaths she felt calmness wash over her. Her life was here in Jauhar now, and although Zena was where she had spent all her childhood Jauhar was where she would spend the rest of her life, well maybe not the rest of her life but she did plan on staying there for a long time. She counted to three slowly and at the last number pulled the spear and cut off her long locks. She stood there for a second before opening her eyes and looking to the floor. Smiling a tear feel down her face. She did it. She had made her decision. She wasn’t going back to Zena anytime soon.

Running her hands through her hair that barely touched her shoulders she laughed. The ends were cut unevenly and all in all she had done a horrible job, but her cutting her hair was more of a symbolic thing then anything else. Zuri knew that cutting her hair with the spear would make it uneven. She would have to get her mother or another Shifter to properly cut her hair before anyone saw her like this, after all she had to be presentable. This was the new Zuri, and although she wasn’t about to change completely she was no longer the council mans daughter. She was Zuri, and here in Jauhar she would carve her own way and be known because of her abilities and personality, not her parentage. Kissing the spear she put it down on her bed before rushing off to find her mother and ask her to fix her hair, the smile on her face bigger then even she thought possible.

Journal 3

She was still and outsider, her skin stood out from all the others, and as she walked threw the forest she missed her home. The snow, the mountains, everything. Jauhar was nothing like Zena and she was getting home sick. Sure she loved all the new people and things she had seen while in Jauhar, but she wished she had something or someone one to remind her of home. Sitting under a giant tree she leaned back and took one of the fruits out of her bag. She began to sing, taking a bite every few words. A few minutes later she heard a noise in the bushed a few feet away from her, it sounded like bells. "Hello? Anyone there?" she called out as she stood up. The bells seemed to be going further away. Confused she held her spear in front of her. Maybe it was a child and she had scared them? If it was a child their parents had to be worried about them! The bells seemed to be going further and further away from her so she started walking faster. "Come here! I won't hurt you! I just want to get you back to your parents!" She called. It didn't seem to be working, the faster she ran the faster the bells went away from her. Out of breath Zuri stopped, putting her hands on her knees as she took in deep breaths. This kid was fast!

Taking breaths Zuri could hear the bells closer then before. Maybe the way to get the child back to their parents was to wait for it to come to her! "You hungry little one? I have food." she said pulling out two fruits from her bag and a small knife she always carried with her. Cutting the fruit into small pieces she places them at the edge of the bush where the noise was coming from and took a few steps back before placing another piece on the ground. She continued to do this until she was hidden in bushed and there was a trail of fruits leading to her. Maybe if the child get close enough she could just grab them, or maybe they would trust her more since she had given them food. She still had a little piece of fruit in her hand, hopefully she could get them to trust her instead of her having to grab it. Sitting down she waited and although she could hear the bells they didn't seem to be moving away from the bush that she had left them in. She was trying to think what she did last time that made them come... It took her a second but then she remembered that she was singing before. Quietly she began to sing once again, and almost immediately the bell noises seem to be coming closer to her, plus she could hear the crunching noise of the child eating the fruits. However the crunching noise didn't sound like a child eating, though it was a noise she was sure she heard before.

Looking out of bush she saw the roati and her eyes went wide. What was a roati doing here in Jauhar? She had never seen one around here, and everything about them was suited for Zena not Jauhar. They had so much fur, this one had to be hot, and their large feat were made to walk on snow not the forest floor. Looking again Zuri stopped singing to watch the roati start eating a piece of fruit that was a little closer to her. As soon as she stopped the roati fled once again to the bush it was originally in. It seemed like the only way they were going to be friends was the combination of fruit and her singing. Zuri laughed and shook her head before she started to sing once more. Soon the roati was out of his bushes and making his way towards Zuri and all the fruit. Looking again she noticed that it was smaller then most of the roati she had seen back in Zena, and she was sure that it was a female since her horns were also on the small side for a roati. To explain the bell noises there was what appeared to be a collar around the neck of the roati, maybe she was someones pet! But who would have a pet roati? As far as she knew they only lived in Zena, so whoever owned this one must have brought her down with them. The more she thought the more she kind of remembered one of the caverns that traveled with her from Zena having different animals that could only be found in her home land. Yes, they wore bells as well so maybe that was where this one came from! That meant it didn't have a home, most likely it was on its way to being sold for her meat instead of becoming someones pet. Zuri couldn't let that happen, roati were such beautiful creatures and she remembered a few back home being loyal and loving pets. Snapping out of her thoughts Zuri noticed that the roati was already nibbling at the fruit in her hand, she was looking at her curiously and seemed ready to run at any moment, but she didn't.

What was the next step? She didn't want to just grab the roati, they were shy creatures and that was no way to start a friendship, but she was worried if she stopped singing that the roati would run. So she did the only thing that she thought could work, she stopped singing but spoke to the roati in the same tone of voice. "Come little Belle, come home with me. I'll take care of you and never let anything happen to you." she sung holding out her hand to try and pet it. The roati eyed her hand but allowed itself to be pet. Smiling Zuri was very happy with her luck. "That's right little Belle, I will not hurt you, I'm a friend of yours." She slowly took her other hand and grabbed another fruit from her bag. Thankfully she always had a few fruits in her bag in case she was out longer then she planned. Zuri continued to pet it softly and speak in soft tones to her. She held the new fruit out as she stood, walking slowly towards her home. "Come on little Belle, come and follow me home." she called as she slowly took a few steps to see if the roati would follow her. Luckily it did follow start following her and as she made her way home she would stop every few minutes and give the roati a bite of the fruit and pet it once more. Though at first it was weary of her but the time she neared near home it was following her without even looking around. Zuri was ecstatic with her luck.

Once safely in her home Zuri blocked the exit, which she expected to startle the roati but the animal was more concerned with the fruits that Zuri had on the little table then anything else. "Oh little Belle, you must have been starving out there." she said using her normal voice once again. Sitting by the door the roati came over to her and nudged her hand, most likely looking for more food. Zuri laughed as she scratched the roati's muzzle. "I'm going to call you Belle little one, I would call you hungry or maybe needy but that isn't pretty and you are much too pretty to have an ugly name. We are going to have to do something about all this hair. I know it will be hard, I didn't like cutting my hair either, but we are no longer in Zena little Belle and here it is much to hot to be having so much hair." she laughed as she scratched Belle all over happily. The roati was happy with her, and all the shyness was gone. "I think you would have been loyal to anyone who fed you." Zuri joked as she stood up. Walking around the room she prepared a bed for her new pet as well as cut up a few more fruits to feed her. She would worry about cutting her hair later on in the day, or possibly even wait till the next day.

That night when Zuri lay down to sleep she realized that one of Belle's bells had fallen off her collar and she picked it up putting it on the table. Yes when she woke she would somehow make it part of her clothing, so that Belle would always know where she was, and then she would cut and sell the roati's hair. Looking down at Belle sleeping peacefully Zuri realized that her wish had been granted. Belle was from Zena, from where she came from, and so long as she had Belle she would always have something to remind her of home. "Goodnight my little Belle." she whispered before falling asleep.

Winter Wight - Event

It was sad that my return to Zena was such a sad one, to kill a beast that had been killing our animals and could move
to my people next for all we knew. It was sad, a lot of the people fighting against it were injured badly, but in the
end we killed the beast. It was an experience I won't forget any time soon, nor one I'd like to relive.

Zuri & Ruelash - An old Story

Today I had a date with Biroki. Or at least, I'm pretty sure it was a date. Not sure
if he thought it was. But it was fun. I told him a story about my past, a fight I had
with another ice tribe member. He was impressed though I don't think it was
that big of a deal. However it was nice to talk about my past. Sometimes I miss
Zena and it is good to talk about my home.

Zuri & Biroki - Clean Thoughts

All I wanted was to go for a swim, but I ended up half naked on his lap!
Okay maybe I should stop and explain a little more. Biroki's clothing got wet so I gave
him my pants and I put on my shirt. We started cuddling and then I realized that I was
sitting on him with only a shirt on! However I liked it, and I didn't feel bad about doing it,
like because it was Biroki it was right. We fell asleep that way. It was amazing.

Zuri - Class Quest

While I was taking a stroll with Belle some Shifter male came and tried to kill her! At
first I just tried to keep him away from the both of us, I didn't want to hurt him or anything,
but eventually I realized that to save Belle I had to kill the man. We ran for a while and
then finally I caught up to him, I went for the killing shot and thankfully he moved out
of the way. He was still stabbed, but he lived. Antiope, a soul-linker for the shifters came
and gave me the rank of lancer!

Journal 4

Zuri looked at her reflection in the water, she just stood there with her hands at her side and her eyes on her reflection. She looked so different, and yet at the same time she looked exactly the same. Moving her eyes from her face to her hand she looked over her new spear. The spear she now had was better then the one she had come to Jauhar with, she had earned it with her rank. She could better protect the ones she loved with this weapon then with the one she had before. The words of the younger girl rang in her ears from the moment that she awoke to when she went to sleep. Antiope had told her that she found her place in Jauhar, as well as giving her the rank of lancer. Those words meant so much to her, and it appeared they did to the other Shifters as well. Since she moved up in rank even the Shifters who hadn't been all that friendly towards her before were now nice to her. It was if they finally saw her as one of them, which was interesting. Zuri was worried at first that they would treat her worse because it was a pure blooded Shifter that she had hurt, but from what she understood he was wanted for harming a group of shifters a little before he came after Belle. So in harming him she had done everyone a favor. Or so she was told.

With a sigh Zuri sat down, placing her spear besides her. She hadn't seen Biroki since getting her rank, but from what she heard he had moved up as well. It was only fair that the two of them got their new ranks around the same time. She had heard many stories, the most common was that he defeated a beautiful woman who tried to drown him. She had gone looking for him one day, but he wasn't at his hut so she had ended up helping fix their tent with his mentor. It was nice, but she had wanted to see Biroki and congratulate him. She also wanted him to see her in her new clothing and with her hair short. Her mother had finally got around to fixing the crude hair cut that Zuri had given herself. As for her outfits, well since she was staying in Jauhar she got rid of most of her old clothing that was good for Zena but not for the forests. Her mother and siblings helped her get more appropriate clothing, and well she thought she looked more like she fit in. Sure her skin still stood out, but she was starting to feel more at home.

Belle bleated and Zuri looked pver at her with a smile. "Your next Belle. I've already changed my look, now you need to. How bout it Belle? In for a Jauhar make over?" she said with a smile and a laugh as she leaned over and scratched behind Belle's ears. She wouldn't do anything to change her, already she cut Belle's fur every week. It just seemed to grow so fast and she didn't want Belle to over heat! Sometimes she felt bad for the roati, she didn't really belong in the forests of Juahar. She had almost given her to the merchants that her originally brought her to Juahar on their way back to Zena, she would send Belle to one of her siblings, but she was too attached by that point. Belle was her connection of her home town. Plus, she was doing rather good at taking care of the roati's needs so far.

Now that she had the official title of a lancer she felt it was time for her to move out. She had been living with her mother and half siblings for some time now, even since she moved here. Of course it was in a small hut off to the side of their main one, but she was still under her mother's watchful eye. Although it was good in the beginning, by living with them she got to know her mother and half siblings very well, but at the same time it was starting to get suffocating. She needed her own place, to move and to grow in. But where? She wanted to stay in Ast, so she could still visit her family and also to be close to Biroki. Yes, she didn't want to be far from her mate. In fact, maybe she would look to live closer to his hut! Yes, the next time she went to go look for him she would see if there was any space for her to build her own place, or rather for her to get someone else to build it for her. Zuri didn't even now where she would start with building a home. The more she thought about it the better her idea became. Then again, Biroki just moved up in rank as well... Wouldn't he also want to move out? Get out from his mentors shadow?

That was it! Not only did Zuri plan on moving out, she planned on moving out with Biroki! She just had to find the perfect time to talk to him about it. It wasn't something she could just come out and say, not with him. No she would have to plan it, say it at just the right time. She didn't want to startle the poor boy, and she was afraid she would. It seemed in their relationship she was the braver one, but it didn't bother her. She didn't need a man to protect her, she could protect herself. No, what Zuri wanted in a man was someone she could grow old with. Someone who would be a good father to the kids they would have, someone who would always love her no matter what. All the things she wanted Zuri had found in Biroki, and she was so happy that she had.

"Come on Belle, we have some planning to do." she said as she stood up and began to walk to her home. With luck and careful planing the right moment would happen sooner rather then later.

CYOA - Zuri & Others

I went on a treasure hunt today with a bunch of others. It was fun, although everyone seemed to be fighting
all the time. Still in the end I found the treasures with everyone else, but it was from a back way so I didn't
take as much as the others. I figured the treasures weren't mine to keep.

You needed help? - Biroki & Zuri

This was the first time since I became a lancer that I got to finally see my love! I should have known that something
was up when his mentor asked me over. I thought he just wanted my help, though I was unsure of what I could
even help him with. However he was just tricking us into being at the same time so he could give us 'the talk'! I was
mortified! I even ended up fainting. Biroki was more mad then I've ever seen him before, however it was kind of
cute. He asked me to move in before walking me home! Seems as if I won't have to be the one to ask after all.
        I can't wait!

Journal 5

Okay so he didn't want her to worry about the house and it's makings? Then she would worry about what went in their house! She had looked around her room to see what kind of things she would need when moving, but there wasn't anything that caught her eye or that she didn't think that Biroki would take care of. It had to be something that he couldn't, or wouldn't, do. After what seemed like forever Zuri was starting to give up. She sat down on her bed in defeat. However it was then that the idea struck her! Looking down at the pelt on her bed she realized they would need a pelt to cover them when it got cold! Granted, it didn't get cold all that often, but there were some nights that she was thankful for her pelt to keep her warm. The one she currently had was small, it wouldn't fit both of them, so she would go hunting for a new one. Of course she could always just buy one, but that wouldn't have half as much meaning as if she caught the animal and skinned it herself. This was something she knew Biroki wasn't about to do.

The next day she set out. She left Belle with her mother, the roati had taken a liking to her over all of Zuri's other family members. She suspected it had something to do with her mother always feeding Belle scraps of meat. None the less she left her companion in good hands. Although Belle went almost everywhere with her, she didn't think that the roati would take well to hunting. Plus her bells would alert anything around to where they were. It was near impossible to sneak up on something when they were bells going off with every step you took. So for the first time in a long time, Zuri was all alone in her journey.

Quietly Zuri made her way around the forest. She still was seeing animals she never had seen before, and she was unsure what she was looking for really. Back in Zena she would have hunted a roati, or a mammu. However here in Jauhar she was unsure. It might even be easier for her to go to Tale to catch something, though that would take much longer then she had planned on being gone and she would have to stop somewhere along the way to get supplies. However she heard of a beast called Kiyeru. They weren't super furry, nothing in Jauhar was, but they had a think layer of fur that would make a perfect blanket. Not super heavy or hot, but warm enough and airy enough. The one problem was that they were very rarely ever seen, and it was even rarer to catch one. Her mother told her that she had only ever seen one once. However rare was Zuri's specialty, and she wasn't going home would that pelt.

************TIME SKIP**************

It had been two days since she left, and soon she would have to go back. She had told her mother she wouldn't be gone for more then four days, and the journey back would take two. It seemed as if she had searched the whole of Jauhar already, and found nothing. Sure there were the little animals that she caught in her traps, and she could sew their pelts together, but so far she hadn't even caught a glimpse of this kiyeru that she was searching for. Sighing Zuri closed her eyes. She had failed, and although she knew that she shouldn't think of it like that she couldn't help it. She hadn't come out to do what she had wanted to do. Thanfully she hadn't told anyone what she had planned on doing, that would just be too embarrassing when she returned home empty handed.

Right as she was about to open her eyes Zuri heard a noise. It was louder then the ones she had become use to hearing. Slowly she opened her eyes, only to find the beast she had been looking for not that from her face. It was half way up a tree already, and seemed to be staring right at her. All this time she had been looking for it, when it ended up finding her. This one seemed to be pretty old, the size alone gave that way, but it also looked to have an injured back leg. Did that count as a victory if the kiyeru was already hurt when she found it? From what she heard they were firece no matter how old or young, sick or healthy. So yes, Zuri decided that it counted. She looked around, carefully not moving her head so it wouldn't startle. It would be easier if she had a bow, and she could always throw her spear, but then she would be weaponless and it could get stuck in the tree. However she didn't have much of a choice it seemed. She had one shot to hit the kiyeru somewhere that would either kill it or render it unable to run, other wise it would be gone and she doubted she would ever see it again.

Thankfully her spear was already in hand, and it seemed to be a stand off between the two of them Zuri broke first and as quickly as she could, as well as hard as she could, threw her spear towards the kiyeru's head. The body would have been easier, but that would have also messed up the pelt. The head was the best choice. However she couldn't see the kiyeru, or her spear. Had she missed and sent her spear flying into the abyss? Or did it puncture the kiyeru, but not kill it so the beast was running around with her spear still in it! She began to worry and started to run towards where she had thrown her spear and last seen the beast. Once she got there she sighed with relief. Not only was her spear there, but so was the kiyeru dead with her spear in it's skull. She fell to the floor and thanked the Gods and Goddesses that she had found it. Now she could go home and prepare it for the next stage in her life.

Becoming domestic - Vollerei & Zuri

Learned a new dish, possibly more than one actually, today and also got to take
care of a baby bird for a but. I think that Vollerei and I hit it off pretty well, and I know
should I ever see her again that she will have new things to teach me about cooking.
If only my father could see me now, making friends with different tribes as well
as cooking. I think he would be proud.

Be Confident - Niabi & Zuri

I met an Alkidike today, only she wasn't like all the other Alkidike's that I've met.
She wasn't very keen on fighting and seemed to be very timid. All in all she was a
sweet girl. I sure hope I put her in the right direction, also that he doesn't get in
        trouble with her sisters!
