Question: I noticed there is now a new stage 'Legendary', and was curious about age ranges for each stage. Its hard to figure out how old the character should be acting. An age range would be nice?

Also it said at rank 4 characters can't breed anymore so it suggests that the characters are older like beyond breeding old (50's or so) but in game time hardly any time has passed and..if you consider it Orpheus achieved rank 3 already and I am working on rank 3 as well for Takoda...so...if we immediately set about working on rank four..does that mean suddenly many many years have passed even though...really in the time line only a couple months have gone by?

Answer

Ages per stage are pretty flexible and can be bent to suit your character needs, but roughly: prentice is about 14-18, stage 2 is 18-22, stage 3 is 22-26, stage four and legendary can intermingle between 26 - 35.

The time frame is pretty short and can be bent further to suit the needs of the character. If a character is advancing at a really fast pace, then they might be only 16 when they advance to Stage 2 if that helps with character personality and plotting.

The cut off time for breeding is an old rule and definitely outdated. It was only in effect not for the fact of character aging but to take some strain off of the artists. The rule has been revised and breeding timelines can be found in the Stages and Growth Thread.

Is it allowable to have mixed races that are not halfbreeds, but more diluted? Like, say, they had a halfbreed in their ancestry and have carried on some minor odd traits (IE, tints, eye color, crystal placement)?

(I asked before during the sins event, but figured it should go here)

Answer

Yes! Having mixed ancestry other than parents or even grandparents is definitely allowed and believable and gives even more variety to Tendaji. The only thing to note is that if a character is less than 1/4 a race, it will not show up in the cert. All subtle lineages should be noted when questing (and in their journals)

Another thing to note is if the lineage changes the appearance from the norm of their main species, the character counts as a hybrid in the terms of our hybrid to pure ratio.

And bam, another question for you!
Though this one is payment and mechanics.

If someone ordered a custom, but circumstances happened that meant that they didn't have all the funds immediately in gold up front, what are alternative payment plans?

Can contractual guest artist-ship be used as a part of it- as in, coloring/art to make up for the difference. I'm talking more along the lines of coloring up a few familiars and such for flatsales, stock, or events. Things like that.

Answer

If they didn't have all of the funds immediately, they are most certainly welcome to contact Suhuba through PM to see if something else can be done instead. Though this will be handled on a case by case basis.

I have a few questions~ :3

1. I noticed that you can quest for a Youngling, but was confused by the front page's statement that the Youngling stage can only be from breeding. Is there a special circumstance that allows you to quest for a Youngling, or is it allowed to begin with?

2. My current quest is a mixed race male with Alkidike in his lineage. He hates staying in one place and is planning on following the class path Guard ---> Massif ---> Brute. Would he be allowed to be a guard among the Alikidkes or at least live close to them?

3. (This question if only valid if I am allowed to quest for a Youngling)
I've been thinking about questing for a Alkidike Youngling that becomes very close with my current quest. I would like to know, is it possible to have an orphaned pure blood Alkidike Youngling live with a nomadic or semi-nomadic mixed race male with Alkidike lineage?

Answer 1
Younglings used to only be allowed through breeding, but we've recently had a change of heart so now they're questable. They can't be obtained through a custom slot alone though, they must have an approved quest thread to receive art. We're updating the front page to reflect this now. :]

Answer 2
Sadly, no. Not on Chibale Isle at least. Chibale is a highly traditional and sacred area for the Alkidike and they wouldn't allow a highly mixed male who chose an earthling class onto the island to live there. He can live in Jauhar and live near an Alkidike village though. (Though to be an earthling class he would have had to live with the earthlings during his prentice stage.)

Answer 3
That is entirely possible with the right history attached. All you would have to do is to create some back story that explained how he took over her care. This would also give him another reason to be closer to the pure Alkidike villages.

First off, thanks for the answers to my previous questions! <3 Now, I just have one more.

Is it possible to have a character with a deformity, disorder or disability of some sort? (Deformity: Blindness, extra/missing body parts, albinism...etc/ Disability: Mental handicap, loss of feeling in a body part, crippled foot...etc/ Disorder: OCD, Phobias, amnesia...etc)

Answer

Yes. Most of those and more are possible. Extra limbs are not, and missing limbs can only occur as accidents after birth. But we encourage owners to create unique characters with variety. Since we already have two blind characters established, we would like to limit it to no more for now, though vision impairment (such as near/far sighted) is always an option. The rest mentioned are all possibilities, and all would require some reason or explanation in their history/personality description.

Question/break from panicstudying:

Is it possible to have legit non-quest RP with shop NPCs?

Answer

It is indeed. We prefer interaction among other owners so we wouldn't advertise for RPs with NPCs, but you can request it, and sometimes it's necessary (such as with Kadriye).

What, exactly do the non battle classes do, mechanics/rp wise?
Artisan makes things, but what do Minstrel, Gypsy, and collector do?

Answer

Non battle classes apply only to the RPs. Artisans make things IC, gypsies dance, minstrels sing and play songs, and collectors search the world for treasures and valuables. These things can be utilized in journals and in RP with others, to give more depth to a character. (If that makes sense)

My character uses weapons to fight, however she does have some skill for magic. Am I allowed to get her a magic spell also? Or that stat just sits there?

Answer

Unfortunately enough, it just sits there. As of right now magic spells can only be combined with magic weapons and are only available to those who choose a magic class path. There is a specialty item called the Scroll of Souls that allows physical fighters to learn one magic spell, but that is the only exception.

Perhaps in the future we might offer a class that offers both magic and physical attacks as an option.

Odd questions coming at you:

Since we have half shifter younglings and more part shifters bebies on the way, I want to ask a question about shifter infants. It's clear that their color shifting is tied to their circadian rhythm, but would infants have uneven shifting until they adjust, or would they pick it up from their mother? What about halfbreeds? Is their shifting a bit off because ofslight differences in hormonal and pigment cues? Or is it all magic and thus not in the purview of a science major?

What would an albino shifter look like? I would think they would be pretty miserable, poor dears.

For that matter, what would a melanistic Alkidike look like?

And are you going to put all the FAQ questions and answers into a big list on the front page of this thing... or even just linking them? It might be a good idea.

Answer

Those are some REALLY good questions, and I like to plan things that would somewhat make sense on a biological level rather than just going with magic everything, so I'll try to make sense of most of it.

Personally, I think it would be really cute to see shifter babies that are off rhythm, so I'm going to say that shifter babies adjust to their shifts after about a year and from then on, they match the rest of the race.

Halfbreeds and others with part shifter really depend on a case by case basis. Most half shifters do not inherit their changing colors and others only inherit part, like changing eyes or changing skin and not both. As an example, Rishima changes both skin and eye colors, but Aminah doesn't change at all. The odds of a mixed breed keeping their shifting appearance is about 1:4, and even less if there is less than half-shifter in them. The chances of Teiluj shifting anything, for example, would be slim, since she is at most 1/4 shifter (though she does indeed shift her eyes).

An albino shifter would consist of all of the light attributes of a normal shifter, such as light skin, (slightly-pinkish) light eyes, light hair, and even paler crystals, but strangely enough, they don't shift. Albinos are incredibly rare and because of the lack of pigmentation in the skin, they don't change as the others do and are constantly light skinned and prone to burning. They would be quite miserable and would require ample protection from the sun.

A melanistic Alkidike... is an interesting question. Melanism in the humanoid races are even more rare than Albino, and I would think that they would have dark brown skin and incredibly dark blue/black markings.

And linking them in the front page would be a very good idea that I'm going to get on right now.

I am asking mainly because of Nuawahn's personality.
This is far in the future, but he is going to be a battle class, and thus needs battle experience for his reqs. However, he has an aversion to committing violent acts.
If he has familiars (La'ammu or any others that I give to him) can they preform his attacks for him/ act as his battle proxy?

Come to think of it, how do familiars relate to battle?
I know some can be ridden, but what of those that can't?

Are they just for flavor, or can they attack along with their owners?

Could the familiar of a mage act similarly to a D&D familiar? IE, improve or carry spells?

What can the various familiars be trained to do- they seem to have different capabilities. What are their relative intelligences?

As I have three familiar-species characters (Keratna, La'amu, and Peyla) and enjoy roleplaying with them, First: Am i doing it right? Second: for those that might be interested in a familiar species character, how would you reccommend one go about roleplaying them?

Are we allowed to play 'wild' versions? I know I was with Keratna, but I didn't have any characters at the time, so is he an exception or an example of an allowed character?

Keratna is 'technically' Betoto's familiar, but I own him as a character. How would that work?

Also, a size chart would be handy for rp purposes.

Oooo, final question.
Will there be familiar breeding?

I lied:
Will there be a familiar/companion owners list?

Answer

Familiars cannot step in and proxy for battle. If a character decides on a battle class they should be prepared to fight and deal with the consequences of what they have chosen in their own ways.

Familiars have been added to the battle system and their specifics can be found here.

Familiars intelligence levels will be listed from least to most intelligent below:
Spitorog, Nondwa, Capramel, Sail Scale, Moracker, Roati, Aldabuk, Poscuta, Kinfa, Sprites, Mammu, Radaku, Raptrix
Spitorog can follow their owners and aren't capable of learning anything, Nondwa are more intelligent but aren't capable of learning any commands, Capramel understand loyalty (loosely) and territory, sail scale understand stealth and can be taught some basic commands, Moracker, Roati, and Aldabuk can also learn basic commands, Poscuta are more cunning, Kinfa can be taught elaborate commands for flight, Sprites are cunning and can understand emoting and learn loose meanings of some words, Mammu, radaku, and raptrix are the most intelligent and can understand complex commands, emoting, and notions of loyalty, territory, and emotional bonds.

You are most definitely RPing them correctly. I really enjoy reading the familiar responses and would suggest others to follow in your steps when RPing familiars. No familiar can speak though sprites can chirp and chime, and all familiars have different levels of intelligence that should be taken into consideration.

You can most definitely RP familiars who don't have owners yet, though they add more value to an RP when they have an owner. Familiars do not earn any req. points but can earn rewards from RPing with others if they do not have owners (or act as a separate entity in RP such as Keratna). Rewards are included here.

I've thrown together a size chart for familiar and species comparison located here
This might not be what some were expecting but this is the actuality of it. I will also be adding a list of what can become mounts. As of right now suitable mounts include radaku, kinfa, mammu, raptrix, janarim, xaraan, snapptrotter, and bushi.

There is no familiar breeding and will probably never be familiar breeding. There is such a variety to choose from already that adding breeding would overly complicate things.

There is already a list of Familiars and their owners. Familiars can be owned by anyone, including those who don't have characters or are active so they will only be listed by Gaia owner and not IC owner.

And more!

Okay, since the stage change left a few unfinished rps that take place timeline/chronologically BEFORE the stage change, and those RPs count towards growth or not (I'm personally not letting them count unless they are supposed to take place after, but I thought I would ask)

If we have completed 'spare' rps beyond the rp requirements/ that are complete but do not qualify because they are in the wrong timeline, can we set them aside for alternative use?

What can RPs be used for aside from growing? Could we trade them in for items/item shop credit (Since I assume it would be specific to the character)? Influence over what the artist does in their next stage?

What would these saved up rps do, if anything, for familiar species characters, like companions, pets, and independent characters such as Keratna?

Answer

RPs that take place in one stage do not count as requirements for another. It is considered to be a new chapter in a character's life and cannot be used for character development.

Extra RPs (espcially those completed before the requirement change) can be counted toward bonuses in the shop. RPs that meet the 10 post minimum and are not used for requirements can be traded in for one edit to character art in their next growth (but only for the current stage. ex: extra RP in prentice stage can be used for stage two art edits, stage 2 RPs can be used for stage 3 edits, etc.). 500 extra words in journals can also be used for an additional edit, though all RP-based edits are limited to 2 per stage art. If you don't want edits to the art, you can contact Suhuba and on a case-by-case basis trade them in for something else like a shop item or familiar.

RPs for familiars are only for fun. They cannot be used for anything in the shop.

Okay.
Battles.

So, say we want a battle against NPCs, but we don't want to impose on our lovely GM. Can we recruit people to play these NPCs? Or play them ourselves against our own characters?

Also, I've asked something in this vein before, but say I have a character and they gain experience and want to use that experience to gain a level in a magic spell set that they do not yet have, IE, Level 1.
Since 40 exp=40k gold, and it costs 2.5k gold to buy a level 1 spell, could it be possible to use EXP to learn a new spell?

Also, what is the difference between each spell (the different elemental spells, and the different defensive spells)

Answer

It's a little out of the ordinary, but yes, you can control NPCs or others can if they choose to, but you must still post a battle request in the thread, and the NPCs stats will be posted for you by Suhuba as the first post.

As of right now, only characters who choose to go down offensive or defensive magic can use spells. And they can only use the spells that they are already allowed to learn. You cannot purchase leveled up spells with EXP or gold unless you are already allowed to learn them.

Spells have been changed so that they all do something slightly different and can be found here.

I had a thought when I was reading through the Alkidike thread in the breeding subforum and I figured I'd ask the questions here. :3

- If you have a half-breed Alkidike (Such as Yaholo) are they allowed to go to Aisha and plead for a child, without a partner?
- If yes, would the child be the same exact mix as their parent or would they become more Alkidike? (Ex. 50% Leaf x 50% Alkidike or 25% Leaf x 75% Alkidike)
- One last thing. In one of my previous questions you said that Yaholo would have an easier time visiting Chibale if he was born from a Lotus. Is that the only criteria? (He was born from a Lotus, by the way)

Answer

Hybrid Alkidike are not allowed to breed without a partner. This is reserved for full Alkidike only.

Born from a lotus is a major plus and the only main criteria, but it would be incredibly more difficult if they were a male mixed-breed, or if they were living with earthlings rather than Alkidike, or both. (Yaholo would fall into both.) Not because Aisha discriminates, but because the Alkidike that live on Ekene do.

I was wondering-

If RPs have a minimum post count [say, 15], is it for each person [each person makes 15 posts] or total [each person makes 6-7 posts]?

Answer

Each person. our counts right now are 10 posts per person for regular RPs and less depending on the number of people.

What exactly happens on Mt. Bergchi?

Answer

Zena is home to Mt. Xi'i, the largest mountain in Tendaji and permanently covered in snow. The journey to reach Mt. Xi'i is long and difficult, blocked by smaller rocky mountains, and cut off by cliffs so not many know of the going-ons there. The council in Zidel are the only people in contact with those on the mountain and stories leak through about prophets and oracles leading Zena from their permanent home on the mountain. When the council needs word on an issue from the Oracle of Mount Xi'i, a lone messenger is sent to make the dangerous journey and is only to speak directly to the council upon return and no one else. When the situation is grave, one of the men or women of Mt. Xi'i themselves will travel down to bring word of what the Oracle has seen.

The celebration event in Zidel every year is the closest all Zenians get to Mt. Xi'i and is to celebrate Bergchi and her mysterious Oracle.
