"Mitzi wasted no time running off," Rain noted out loud before deciding to sit down near their sandcastle. She couldn't resist trailing a finger in the water of their makeshift moat. "Probably for the best, really. She seems nice but.. she's a Reaper. It's not rocket appliance that it's only a matter of time that I'd tackle her and try to eat her brains or something." Speaking of brains, she was getting hungry. She pulled out her messenger bag and popped a particularly juicy looking maggot in her mouth. When she reached for another one, she paused to stare at it. It was small, with really large eyes. Almost like a cartoon characters eyes. "Oh, aren't you cute! I shall name you Princess Mag...Maggotolia." Taking the little maggot, she set it down in front of the sand skull door. "Princess Maggotolia, I fear there's a revolt in the yonder kingdom of Fiveinchesawaia. What are your orders? Eat them, you say? Eat them all? Your wish is my command." Rain stood up briefly to perform a half bow/half curtsy before reaching into her bag and spraying a handful of maggots across the ground. Within seconds she was on her knees hunting each of them down before plopping them into her mouth.  "I do believe that the revolt has been secured, M'lady."

"Oh, you need a scepter and a crown. Don't worry, I can make them out of paper but we will have to staple them to you. It won't hurt much. I get stapled all the time. Hmnnnn. It's just a little blood. Blood gives you character. It will make sure the others in your kingdom will know not to attack you. There can be only one! Come over here and sit on your paper throne." Rain stood back to admire her work. While the Princess didn't look very princessly, it would take time to get in the swing of things. It wasn't easy running such a vast sand filled kingdom after all.

Rain went around cleaning up the mess she had left behind when she heard a crying sound. Well, it was close to crying. More like a squishing sound. She made her way over to Princess Maggotolia and found her to be crying. "What? You don't like being Princess? But.. but.. but... you haven't even seen all the Princess perks. How about a nice relaxing coconut bath? Or a walk in the park?" It sure was hard keeping a princess happy.

Rain scooped the princess as genltly as possible and slid her into the coconut bathtub on the roof of their castle. "I'm sure a few minutes in there will do you good. Give you time to relax, and bring the color back to you." Giving her one last once over, Rain walked around their sandcastle, making sure that none of the major pieces had fallen out of place. A clean sandcastle was a good sandcastle, right? When she walked back over to check on Princess Maggatolia, she stifled a scream. The coconut bath had not helped at all. In fact, her friend was.. bloated, pale, blue.. and well she was dead. "Oh no, oh no no no no no no!" What hope did a castle have without a princess?

Rain did the only thing she thought she could do. She cleaned the vomit and weird liquids out of the coconut bathtub and then began wrapping her friend up in one of her spare bandages. When she was done, she combed the beat for a few crappy sticks but she managed to tie them together. She stapled the scepter to the raft, laid the crown out on the bandaged head and she had no real matches so she had to settle with coloring and tearing up pieces of paper that looked like fire. Actually, she preferred this over the real thing. Of course, it wasn't like she was really going to sink or burn down...

Mort was dying in this heat, quite literally. He could feel tendons loosen and long-dried up pores become wet from the humidity, and the stench - by Jack, the stench of rotting meat clung to him where he went. He looked apologetic as he approached the sand castle, pulling the lip of his hoodie down further over his head as if that alone could help fight off the rank smell coming off him. "Mrrr . . ." He peered at the front side of the sandcastle and squinted at the strange object covering one of the skull's sockets. They looked oddly like . . . Was that supposed to be Natalia and Whisper? He wasn't so sure about the others, but it was a homey touch that he couldn't' help but smile a bit at.
"Is good job," he said after a moment, standing back.

Rain made a mad dash to chew up what was left of the maggot princess, now that the Castle was back to looking as good as new. Of course, she probably looked a mess right now, but she didn't care. All that mattered was the Castle looked great! "Oh, hey..," she started between mouthfuls of dead squishy bits, "I remember you. Want some snacks," she reached in her bag to pull out another handful of maggots. She was done playing with them for today. It only lead to depressed maggot princesses killing themselves anyway.

[entering] At the announcement that they would be able to visit the various castles, Shine pressed her way through the crowd, smashing her floppy hat down on her head to be sure that it wouldn't get lost. There were some nice sand castles along the way, but only one that she was really interested in. She peered through her sunglasses to admire the castle with its little moat and skull-shaped entrance, complete with a seaweed bow. Wiggling her toes in the sand between each labored step, she walked to stand with Rain and Mort, smiling shyly at the ghoul. "I...like your castle um...a lot. They're lucky to...have you. On their team, I mean." Despite how hard she tried to be serious about this - the trial stuff seemed really serious, at least - she couldn't help giggling at the bits of maggot covering Rain.

"Shiiiiiiiiiiiiine!" Within seconds, Rain had closed the distance between them and placed the small pink paper crown on top of her ghoulfriends head. If anyone deserved to be a princess, it was Shine. "Oh, I have a royal scepter too but it looks more like a magic wand and it got so dirty. I think I dropped it around here somewhere. It is nice to see you! Do the other sandcastles look really neat? I haven't had a chance to look at them. I'm on guard duty!" Ever one to emphasize words with actions, she snapped her bare feet together and made a salute. At least she had given it her best effort. "You look pretty today. Sun isn't being too big of a problem on you? Why, I'll punch it right out of the sky if I have to." She couldn't help but grumble at the sun.

"Mrr . . . Sure, thanks." He took a couple of the wriggling things and slurped them down, enjoying the sensation of the maggots flailing down his esophagus. Mort squinted as Shine joined them and smiled at the two, as it was hard not to in light of the adorableness. "Hai hai. Sun bother too? Try keep n' shade, if can. Use towel r' umbrellas." He pointed to the area where the audience would mostly congregate once the trial started, the sea of umbrellas looking so inviting. "Think ready for defense?" he asked Rain. "Look solid, but can't be sure."

The soft giggling lasted throughout all of Rain's attention, leaving Shine looking particularly pleased for a zombie out in the sun. " Hii Rain! I'm happy...to see you, too. The other uh...castles...well. They're okay, but. I like yours...best. They were...were really smart to pick such...a good guard. Nobody will even...get...the chance to hurt it!" She made sure that the crown was situated securely atop her head before working to tug her sleeves down over her hands, covered with a goopy, sticky mixture of blood, sugar, and sand. "Um, not...um, too bad. Really hot, but-" She paused, reaching up to poke one of the lenses of the sunglasses, flinching backwards as her fingertip made contact as if she'd forgotten that her eyes were shielded. "...these help with the brightness. Too much bright. Are...you doing okay? With the hot?" Another brief pause. "But...it would be funny...to see you punch the sun away." She didn't doubt that Rain was capable of doing such a thing; she knew how high she could jump, and knew that she was really strong, so it was definitely possible! "Thank you," she said quietly, leaning to give her a kiss on the cheek. Some remnants of maggot transferred over to her lips, which were quickly licked away. Most of the talk of the sun and the heat had been directed to both of them, but she turned towards Mort with a question. "Maybe...can you show me the...best shade places? When we have to um...go back to the watching spot?"

WAVE 1: CRABS, CRABBBBBBBBBBBBS HP 40/40Scuttling right towards the team was an army of oversized crabs, their pincers waving menacingly. They were ready to destroy all things sand and castle related. CRAB DEFENSE MECHANICS: CRAB VERSUS THE CASTLEOdd = Offense Even = Defense THIS CRAB HAS 8 DEFENSE POINTS. (( First of all, don't forget to add the additional status from the Daily status effects to your sandcastle )) - This crab is trying to do 8 damage DEFENSIVE against the sandcastle. That means you have to match your OFFENSIVE damage against this crab's defense. Subtract your offense against this crab's defense points. IF your sandcastle is higher, you take no damage! If it is lower, subtract the HP value from your castle's HP. One person must RP out their sandcastle standing against the crabs or taking damage, and edit the first post sandcastle's HP as necessary (at least, though various reaction posts while battling is fine)
CRAB VERSUS THE CONTESTANTS- EVEN IF YOUR CASTLE STOPS THE CRABS, you still need to delegate them away from your castle, so they do not hurt YOU. There is nothing stopping it from hurting YOU. - Roll NORMALLY (no Fear charges), 2d6 -6 if you are a Y1, 2d8 - 6 if you are a Y2 to determine your damage AGAINST THE CRABS. Year 1's have 30 HP, Y2's have 40. - The crab has a sum total of 30 HP. Every time you hit the crab, you take 5 damage. If your TEAM LEADER is KO'ed your group is disqualified! - You can hit the crab as many times as needed until it is dead. If your crab is not dead by the end of the OOC 24 hours/ one round, the crab will berserk and take out half your sandcastle's HP. - To attack the crab, once again, roll your attack, WRITE UP YOUR RP POST, and subtract 5 from your HP every time. Make sure to also post at the bottom of your post Your total HP, the damage you do to the crab, and the crab's total (remaining HP.

((Entering from The Honey Badgers sandcastle thread.)) Mitzi hurried back to her team's sandcastle, but once she reached their area and stepped off the path her feet started to drag. Her eyes stayed on the ground, and the previous bounce in her step was gone. She raised a hand in greeting to the rest of her team as she trudged up to their castle, but she only glanced up briefly, her shoulders slightly hunched. She had gotten back to the sandcastle just in time; only a few minutes after she arrived, everything around her started to grow - except her team members. But Mitzi was too tied up in her thoughts even to notice as it happened.

Rain grinned at Mort. She was happy to have a visitor. "We are trying to think defense, but there's no telling what they will throw at us, y'know? These events always end up dangerous." Soon, her most favorite ghoul had even stopped by a visit. Her happy meter went from a low 7 to a high 10 the moment Shine arrived and Rain did so love her Shine kisses. They made her feel.. almost warm inside. It was a strange feeling, a good one. Of course, she didn't have much time to let it sink in as the announcement came overhead that they must return to their designated areas. She couldn't help but pout as she linked Mort's arm in one hand and Shine's in another, determined to walk them back to their groups. Mort's was much closer so she went to his first. "Nah, sun don't really bother me so much", she finally answered their earlier question, "Not as long as I remember to use lots of lotion. My mamma always said to pack everything because you never know when you will need it... so I do!" She had everything from a roll of toilet paper to used gum in her bag. When they reached Mort's team, she opened up her bag and pulled out the half used tube of lotion. Without even asking his permission, as such things never crossed her mind, she proceeded to rum down his face, neck and arms with lotion. "That should keep you safer from the sun," she offered with a smile before turning quickly and bouncing away with her ghoulfriend. She practically skipped all the way back to the spectators section, hand in hand with the prettiest and fairest ghoul in the school. Once there, she lotioned Shine up as well, though this time she was far more gentle with her movements, making sure not to get any in her eyes before putting the ghoul's sunglasses back on. "No more bad sun for you either," she whispered before leaning to kiss Shine on her cheek as well. "I have to go back now," Rain pouted, "but it makes me happy knowing that you are watching. Real happy." She turned and pounced back towards her group and as she did, she gave Shine a gift. It came in the form of a high pitched eerie very huntery scream, and it was just for her. [Rain is walking guests back to their locations]

When Rain returned from walking Mort and Shine back to their designated areas, she found a giant crab trying to attack their sandcastle... a sandcastle that was now ten times bigger than when she had left it! The crab had already begun to damage it by tearing away at the sand on one of the side walls.

Without even thinking, she rushed towards it with arms flailing, trying to shoo it away. At the very least, she was hoping to distract it long enough to focus its attention on her than the castle itself. Of course, in the next moment, she found half her face buried in the sand several feet away. That thing had knocked her aside like a ragdoll!
This could only mean one thing.
