((Okay, Danse! This one here has our IC progress added to it so far. ouo~))

The very dim room was spinning around Junko as she sat up and held her head, swaying a bit. A sudden touch to her leg had her flinching and slapping at the hand until she realized it was not a spider or a stranger, it was Seiji. Oh. Okay. Seiji was fine. He could touch her leg. Junko accepted the help up though she still stumbled and leaned heavily on the boil. Owwwww. "I..I'm okay. Just...need the room to stop spinning and stuff..." Junko winced and grasped for the nearest thing she could find, gripping Seiji's scarf to keep herself balanced.

"We should keep going...thank you for the light, Mai. Oh..." Where did her scissors go? She threw them, right? Well damn...

Junko looked down at the spiderweb to check their progress, squinting in the low lighting. "How many are left? We need to keep cutting." They had to. They needed to get out of the room.

Mai's cool fingers against the heated skin was a blessing in disguise. It felt really good, and if there was a ice demon nearby, Vaith might have been willingly frozen by him or her if only to numb the pain for a bit. Fortunately, he didnt need to go that far-- Mai was enough.

At least it wasn't too bad. "Thanks Mai." The reaper gratefully interrupted, forming a painful first with his fingers as he punched the palm of his other hand in a gesture of reluctant determination.

"We'll finish this. Hopefully before anything else happens. Thanks, Mai."

The crunch of spiders under his foot was audible as he slowly trudged through the room, hands pressed up against the walls, feeling his way around. Luckily, his legs were fully covered .. well the flimsy slippers could have been better.

He added a bone to the puzzle, 3rd row and 2nd column:

Was Vaith near the corner of the room now? More spacious than it had initially looked. He was on the wall with the framed paintings now. "Should we each take a side? Itll be easier to place if if we take four sides."

There was concern etched all along Seiji's dark features, but perhaps Junko wouldn't notice with the way his mask was pulled up over his nose. He'd promised he trusted her to take care of her self, that she was a big ghoul and didn't need protecting, but he couldn't help worrying. Special with the force at which she'd nailed her head on the edge of the platform. if the room was spinning for her, then she'd konked herself pretty damn good. Small hands tangled into his scarf so she could keep her balance, and he curled an arm around her waist. "Babe, sit down for a moment until your head stops spinning, ok?" He was doing his damnedest to keep his tone helpful, and not show any of the worry was actually feeling. "Just for a minute."

Unless she protested he'd help her take a seat on the web, then offered down his own scissors to her. "You take these, I don't really need them."

How many were left? He stood, rubbing the back of his neck with his hand. Glowing eyes squinting down at the puzzle below them as he counted open squares. "Five, not counting the one I'm gunna lay down." There was a spot just begging for a moon. "Can you cut us a few shapes to use, miss awesome seamstress?"

He knelt in the web not to far from her and with a little concentration the dark points of blackened fingers elongated, sharpened. The darkness that covered his entire arm creeping away from his bicep to glide downwards, all that corruption reforming the claws he'd worn through the whole of his unlife. With them it was easy enough to cut the web, and with Mai's amazing wisps there was enough light to work with.

The spiders were a pain in the a**, but he did his best to ignore them. The sooner they solved the puzzle, the sooner they could get away from them.

He glanced up at Vaith's question, glancing first at the boil and then around the room as he considered his idea. "That's not a bad idea. Couldn't hurt to explore the room a little, maybe we can find a way to relight the lanterns. Not that Mai's wisps aren't amazing." He just had to wonder if it taxing the ghoul keeping all the wisps gathered.

Finishing his moon, he moved to lay it into one of the open spaces.

It was harder to make out the puzzle by the light of only Mai's wisps. Aurian's natural abilities may have meant she was at home in the dark, but the shapes she could make out were not all that distinct. Sure, it was easy to tell where her companions were standing, even as they moved out to the walls to inspect the room. But little things like lines on the floor, or cutouts of bats and pumpkins? No, her Shadow Person skills were of no use there. Thank Jack for Mai, Aurian thought.

Crouching down next to Junko, Aurian waited for her to cut out some more shapes with the scissors that Seiji had passed over. "Ah, I see where this one goes," Aurian said, picking up a bat shape. It was hard to be wrong, with all three other bats already in place.

Still, Aurian felt like she was actually helping as she laid the bat down into the only row without one. "We tag off now, right?" she checked. Pushing herself up off her knees, Aurian made her way over to an unchecked wall. Someone else would move to take her place at the puzzle. In the meantime, Aurian re-summoned her scythe. Light from the wisps and from Aurian's glowing eyes reflected off the metal blades. Aurian used it to try and further light up at the wall as she made her way along it. One hand trailed over the surface, looking for bumps, hidden doors, or switches.

Junko nodded slowly as Seiji asked her to sit down, stumbling to the edge of the platform with his help and sitting heavily. Sitting was nice. Yay sitting. Glowing green eyes turned up toward Seiji as he offered her a pair of scissors, swaying a little as she sat and watched them all go at it. Even Seiji was using his own claws now...and here she was sitting uselessly on the platform. No. She couldn't do this. She glanced down at her bag. A pill? No..no way. It was too soon for that. She'd suck it up. She blinked and turned her head Seiji's way when he asked a seamstress to cut shapes. But...but hadn't he just told her to sit down?

The ghoul frowned and rolled off the platform to crawl to the puzzle, pointing at an empty square. "A bone goes here.." She mumbled, cutting the shape of a bone into the web. It was messy but it was a bone. Don't judge her.

She nearly fell into the hole she'd just cut though, shaking her head to regain her bearings and crawling around to the other side to see how everyone else was doing. "Will Mai's wisps light the lanterns again?" Is that how it worked?

Vaith glanced at the puzzle, intently staring with a puzzled look. Ok, counting off .. There were pumpkins. Someone just put down a bone. Vaith's fingers worked idly against the wall, drumming a few taps. Oh hey, that sounded sort of cool. Pretty soon, a beat drummed throughout the previously tense atmosphere of the room, sounding suspiciously like the song "This is Halloween," complete without instruments. The only instruments was the tap of the fingers, foot or scissors-- possibly their tone-deaf voices or surprisingly melodic voices. Vaith's voice fit somewhere in the former category so he wasn't singing.

You could almost make out the lyrics to the song.

It started with "boys and girls of every age.."

Except the lyrics were edited slightly to "bones and ghouls of every age.." (It was hard multitasking!)

Mai watched as the other students cut away at the webbing beneath them, using her wisps to work in the darkness. She couldn't help but feel a little proud that she was able to help out her team in such a tangible way so early in the game. After taking a quick look around, Mai made her way over to the furthest corner where there was an empty square just asking for her attention. She tried to think light as she crawled over the strands, becoming partially intangible as she did. Mai didn't want to jostle the others around too much, who knew what would happen if any of them fell off the web!

Alright, it looked like the puzzle was almost complete... she just needed to cut a pumpkin here right? Not wanting to waste any more time, the ghost knelt down and carefully cut the pattern into the webbing.

Junko's comment about re-lighting the lanterns caught the ghost a bit off guard as she finished. Why hadn't she thought of that? Maybe she just kind of assumed her little wisps weren't capable of lighting anything on fire, what with the nature of their flames. But for all she knew about this place, she guessed it was entirely possible.

"I'll try?" she said as she crawled over to where she thought she remembered seeing one of the lights before. "I think I saw some paintings over on the wall too," she added softly. "Maybe someone should check those out while I try to get the room lit up?" Tentatively, the ghost directed a wisp over to the dark space against the wall.

Oh! Good! They finished the puzzle. Junko threw her arms up and cheered, accidentally sending her scissors flying behind her into the darkness. Oops. She blinked and slowly turned to see where they had gone. The drumming and quiet singing got Junko's attention shortly after that and she grinned, carefully pushing herself up to her feet. She was swaying less. The room was spinning less. She was fine! See? She was just fine. "Wouldn't you like to see something strange," Junko continued quietly, humming the rest of the melody to the old song. Very old song.

Paintings? Junko turned on her heel, stumbling a bit as she regained her footing on the unstable webbing. "Paintings? Sure, I'll go." It wouldn't be too bad. She could walk over and check out those paintings! Junko took a few cautious steps toward them, staring down at the ground to make sure she didn't step on a hole. The wisp sure did help.

exclaim AS THE PUZZLE IS SOLVED....

Slowly, the lights begin to come on again. This time, though, the strange wispy lights float around instead of sticking to the wall, helping to better illuminate the room.

You're not too sure what might happen if you touch them, but they seem friendly enough...?

A ladder descends from the top of the room, wherever that is, brushing down another clump of spiders as it appears. These ones scuttle away harmlessly, but then something else drops down- a large hippo with eight legs, dressed in a ballerina outfit.

It hisses. "Youuuuuuuuu dirrrrrrrrrrrty web-defilerssssss. My preciousss. THE PRECIOUS. WHERE IS IT?" It looks around, somewhat awkwardly- it's finding it a bit hard to turn around, and before long it's spinning around in circles. You're not sure what to make of it... and also... what precious is it talking about? While the hippo is still spinning, you can either take the time to quickly explore the room, or head up the ladder, through all the spiders.

Alternatively, you may drop down through the holes in the web, towards what appears to be a tiny spot of light... where could that lead?

(( CONGRATULATIONS! Your group has successfully completed the challenge! Please ICly make a choice regarding where to go, before you proceed to The Hub!

Before too long the puzzle was complete, and Seiji was getting back to his feet, gray fingers massaging his left wrist as the claws once again receded to leave the much darker hand normal. Humming along a few bars of the song Vaith had started to drum out with his fingers and Junko chimed in to sing.

Ok, so that first challenge hadn't been too bad, they'd all gotten through the puzzle relatively unharmed, save for Junko and the nasty bump on the back of her head. Speaking of, the ghoul had gotten to her feet again with the intention of going to investigate the pictures on the opposite wall. Swaying ever so slightly with each slow step. "Hold it," he called out to her, moving swiftly to her side so he could loop an arm around her waist and pull her back with him closer to the platform and away from the holes in the webbing they were standing on. "How about you just cool your jets and let your head feel better so you can be at your best for our next task, hmm?"

Very suddenly a ladder dropped from the ceiling accompanied by a wash of skittering spiders that fled away harmlessly. But before they'd really get a chance to investigate something larger dropped as well. It looked like a hippo, but it had far too many legs and when it spoke it had an eerie his to it's voice. "Precious?" What precious?

He took another step away from the spinning hippo, pulling Junko along with him, and glanced up towards the ladder. "Well we can get out, but we're going to have to crawl through the mass of spiders.." He glanced down through the web, head tilting as he noticed the light. "Or maybe down. What do you guys think?" There was a third option, investigating the room a little more, but the ghost boil didn't care for the hippo spinning like a top in the middle of the web.

An arm around her waist stopped her from getting too far, blinking and looking up at Seiji as he held her. Huh? Why was he stopping her? She was trying to help? She frowned at his suggestion. "But I..." She sighed. "Fine. I was just going to look at the pictures..my head's fine. I promise. I'm okay." There was just a throbbing pain now that she would do her best to ignore. If he insisted..fine. But she felt so useless just sitting and recovering. She wanted to do things! But before she could voice any of these frustrations the lights suddenly turned themselves back on, looking around slowly until she spotted the ladder that just...appeared. She squeaked and reached up around Seiji's neck to pull herself up away from the swarm of spiders that fell from the ladder. Gross! Gross! She didn't want to be bitten anymore pleeeeeeeeeease!

The hissing made her hug the boil tightly and stare with wide eyes as a...spider-hippo-ballerina-thing fell into the room. Was that what had screamed earlier? She didn't...even understand what was this thing..

Lizzy needed to see this. Junko let go of Seiji to swing her bag around so she could dig around until she found her eyePhone, leaning against him for support as she snapped a picture of the spinning spider-hippo-ballerina-thing. It was sent to Lizzy after that with a message that read:
WHAT IS THIS I DON'T EVEN

She phone was put away, and frankly she was surprised it even worked, and Junko looked up to see they had options. "I'm not sure I want to know what Precious is. I want out of here. Now." So ladder...or down? Junko frowned. "Ladder, please? I don't want to fall and hurt myself..again...I'd rather brave spiders than risk getting hurt."

Aurian was a little in love with the idea of going through the hole in the floor. It seemed very slinky and shadowy, of course she was intrigued. It also looked like a clean get-away from the scary pink hippo.

But Junko was worried about falling too far. Aurian peered closer at the hole and had to admit she couldn't tell her far down it went. Straightening back up, she shrugged. "I don't mind, either way. As long as we move fast, like Junko said."

Aurian also didn't care for the spinning hippo with its eight legs and hissing voice. Whatever the Precious was, if it was here then she was guessing that the hippo was guarding it. Did they really want to fight a giant spider-hippo? No, Aurian didn't think so.

Vaith leaped back when a loud noise resonated throughout the room, It was the look that belonged to one of the top five most awkwardest moments ever. A very manly scream sounded as the hippo twirled and hissed--

"AUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGGHUHH-- "

HIPPOS DID NOT HISS. SNAKES DID. HIPPOS DO NOT.

Vaith looked a little sick but who wouldnt be with the options placed before them? Curiosity on what the hissing hippo was looking for overwhelmed him but .. not quite so overwhelming as the risk of all eight legs nearly trampling him. While they took their moment to ponder a means of escape, Vaith took a look up at the ladder. His look was something like this:

User Image

"We might die from dropping in the hole. But we also might die from these spiders."

It seemed like the group had chosen the ladder and spiders. Vaith wasn't sure where he wanted to be more-- in the possibility of the spider's nest and ending up as their next meal ... But then again, it was looking for it's precious. "Hey guys .. Actually, wouldn't be be really interesting if we try to look for this precious? I mean, we've got the hippo but thats the point of training, right?" Vaith looked back at the scene .. They were in training, after all!

(post edited, me and eight came up with an idea ;;~)

((******** yeah ideas))

Junko winced at first as Vaith screamed like a little ghoul, slowly turning her head his way to just stare. Did that just come from him? It hadn't been Mai or Aurian? W...well then. Junko looked away, trying to be as gentle as possible about the fact that Vaith had just shrieked like a little ghoul encountering a teeny tiny little human scareling or something.

She just...wasn't going to say anything.

"I don't think the spiders will kill us. They seem to be...uh...behaving now? But I'd rather not drop into mysterious holes of unknown destinations." Because that sounded totally safe. A ladder would do fine even if the catch was that they would have to wade through the hundreds of spiders to get to it. Junko was done with this room. She wanted out.

But apparently Mr. Manly didn't. "But we don't even know what this 'precious' is." Junko frowned. She doubted Seiji would just let her wander off, especially after he had just convinced her resting up would be a good idea for her..
