"I don't live in a tree, I live in a sort of bottom of a big rectangle, you'll see when we get there! Follow me now." Painter headed off towards her home. "I'd love to be friends! I don't have any really good friends either, most of them say my paintings are weird. And... I've never laid in dried grass, but if it's as nice as not-dried grass, I bet it's really comfortable. I have a mattress that I think is full of feathers, or fake feathers or something."
Painter looked around, looking for the tree that Oceana might live in. "Well, it depends on how big the hole is. I'm sure if it's big enough for you, the painting will fit too, but it all depends on how big the entrance is. If it's smaller than the painting, there's no use trying to get it in. Though I could always paint you something smaller if I have to." She looked around as they reached the edge of the park. "It's not too far, I live pretty close to the park."

Oceana bounded playfully after the other girl. She was full of life and energy like always. "Bed of feathers? Ohhhhh like feathers from angelic's wings? Or from birds?" She looks over and points. "See that really pretty tree with pink flowers all over it? That's where I live! Isn't it the prettiest tree you ever saw?" She thinks a minute. "It doesn't have a really big hole but the pretty painting should fit in it. You can't see the hole cause all the branches are hiding it. Why you don't even know it's there unless I tell someone or show them."
She happily chattered as she followed Painter. She stumbled over the curb face planting into the street. She sat up crying, a bit of blood on her scraped nose.

"No, just like normal bird feathers. They're small and white, I think they're called 'down' feathers, or something, they're softer than feathers you find on the ground."
Painter followed the green fox's pointing paw, looking at the tree in question. "It's a very pretty tree! And you're right, I never would've guessed there was a hole there."
Painter quickly dropped her bag when she heard Oceana start try cry. She dug around for a clean cloth, and finally finding one, she yanked it out with her teeth and placed it gently on Oceana's nose. She gently pressed her paw on the cloth, gently cleaning the wound.
"Here now, it's ok, you're alright, it's only a scratch. When we get to my place I can get you some water, and I have some really nice cream that makes it feel so much better. You'll be fine."

Oceana blinked as Painter fixed up her nose. She looked rather embarrassed. "I should learn to watch where I'm going." She said with a small sniffle. She looked around. "Where is your home from here? I hear that my owner has a home and that Nightshade, Scootaloo, Absolut and Winter live there. I prefer to live out here in the park. Cause then the ones who I'm spose to live with don't make fun of me. Well Scootaloo and Winter are nice to me. They come see me when they are tired of Nightshade and Absolut." She peered at Painter her nose still sore and bleeding a little bit. "Do you live with others?"

Painter gave a small smile. "We all fall sometimes. And the foxes that live with your owner don't sound very nice. No, I live by myself. You'll see when we get there, it's just around the corner." She wrinkled her white nose. "And how did you end up with an owner? I don't have one."
Painter turned the corner and headed to an thin, empty alley just ahead. "Over here." She slid behind a trashcan and went through a hidden window into a basement.
"This is where I live, all by myself." She sat on her haunches and spread her front legs wide in a welcoming manner. The basement was fairly large, the size of a large living room. There was an old mattress in one corner, with several shelves piled with random odds and ends. One corner held all of Painter's painting supplies, stacked neatly and cleanly next to a pristine canvas stand. The whole room was coated in a thin layer of dust except for the bed and the painting corner.

Oceana rubs her head blushing a bit. "Well I was kinda given to the lady that owns me. Someone caught me wandering the park on my own." She peered around from the window letting out a loud sneeze from all the dust. "I only been inside once. That was when they gave me to the lady."
She felt a bit nervous being in such a place. She was use to her tree and the park. "Wow this is a lot of room to have all to yourself." She thought a bit. "And no the others who I'm spose to live with aren't very nice to me. Nightshade calls me retarded and Absolut says I'm an eyesore on the world." She twitched her tail a bit as she jumped into the room.
She cautiously wandered towards Painter. "You don't mind me being around you do you?" She peered at the other girl hopeful that she didn't mind.

"Oh, you were caught. Well that kinda sucks, to be given against your will. Inside isn't that bad, really. Outside is nice, but inside you don't have to get wet when it rains, or cold in the winter. It's a lot of room, but I'd rather have a lot of room to work in than have to try to paint in a tiny little cramped place." She realized that Oceana's home was one of those tiny little cramped places and quickly added "Though I bet they're nice and cozy to sleep in."
Painter frowned deeply. "I don't think I like the ones you're supposed to be living with very much. They sound like complete jerks. Oh, and don't let anyone tell you you're an eyesore, your coat has a very beautiful palette, and I would know, since I know colors." Painter nodded in a manner that showed she was absolutely sure of her statement.
Painter grinned happily at Oceana. "I like having you around! You're a lot nicer than most of the foxes I've met. If everyone were only half as nice as you, then I would probably have a lot more friends."

Oceana blushed a bit at the compliment. "And you don't think I'm stupid?" She bounded towards the other with a warm smile on her face. "I like my tree but it does get cold. Specially since in the winter there is no way at all to block in the cold winds since all the leaves are gone. The snow blows in. And when it starts to melt I have to abandon my home cause it floods. And some times if it rains to hard I wake up in a puddle of water. And don't get me started on the bugs!" She started to ramble off about the downs of living in her tree. Secretly she was wishing she could live like Painter did.
She stopped her ramble to bound over to the paints and canvases. "Ohhh! So pretty." She starred at one of Painter's paintings that was in the room. She didn't know what it was of but she loved the pretty bright colors. She looked around the dusty room noticing the walls were even covered in dust. "Why don't you paint these things?" She ran towards a wall and put her paw on it not know what exactly it was. "I bet you could make it look like spring in the winter in here if you painted these with pretty blue skies and flowers and butterflies!"

"No, I don't think you're stupid. And, i-if you want, you can stay here whenever your tree gets wet, or cold, or bug-filled, or whenever you want really. I mean, there's plenty of room here, you said so yourself. I wouldn't mind that at all."
She watched as Oceana oohed over her paintings.
"And you can paint with me whenever you like!" She giggled.
Painter paused at her suggestion, dumbfounded. "Oceana, you are BRILLIANT!" She bounded over to her friend and hugged her excitedly. "All the time I've been here and I never thought of painting the walls! Don't you ever let anyone tell you you're stupid ever again, either! And you better help me paint all of it, too! Oh, Oceana, you're AMAZING!" Painter continued to leap around in joy, occasionally moving things away from the walls and generally laughing happily.

Oceana blushed brightly returning the hug from Painter. "You mean it? I can stay with you? And I'll help you paint your ummm walls." She wiggled excitedly. She liked her tree and all but she would prefer this over the tree any day. She looked around frowning her ears drooping as Painter took off to move stuff around. "But..... Where would I sleep?" She asked in a small shy voice. There was only one bed and trying to get leaves, grass and stuff to bed down on would be a pain to move from the park to here. Guess she would have to stay in her tree.

"Sure you can stay with me! Well, I was thinking you could take one half of the mattress and I could have the other half, it's big enough for both of us, as long as you don't mind. I mean, we could always get something else in here, if you want. Blankets maybe, since I don't know where to get another mattress. And you could always have the mattress while I take whatever we find, I won't mind at all. I can sleep on anything."
She was in the middle of pulling out a few paint buckets to paint the walls with, but she stopped in the middle and sat, her tail twitching nervously, hoping that Oceana wasn't about to leave.

Oceana ran over to Painter and rubbed her head against the other females. "Ohhh! We can share the mattress!" She waved her tail happily before bouncing around the edge of the room sweeping the walls with her tail. She thought about what she could do in the room to make it a bit more cheery. "Sooooo Painter have you got any boyfriends?" She was curious about this. "I don't. I'm scared they will laugh at me like the ones I'm spose to live with." She stopped dusting after dislodging a rather large spider. "Eeeekkk!"

Painter grinned at Oceana as she rubbed her head. Oceana was so sweet, she didn't understand how anyone could hate her. She was so adorably bubbly. But she knew how some people could be huge jerks, and how one could have the misfortune to meet mostly jerks. Her art seemed to draw them out of the woodwork.
Painter laughed so hard that she fell to the floor and rolled onto her back, paws folded over her chest. "Boyfriends!" She fell into another small burst of laughing. "Would you be boyfriends with any of the people you're supposed to live with? I wouldn't be boyfriends with any of the jerks that have nothing better to do than insult my art, and boy are there a lot of those jerks. So nope, don't have a boyfriend, never had, wouldn't care if I never did." She had an idea and fell into another fit of giggles. She padded over to Oceana. "I have an idea!"
She was cut short by Oceana's scream, and saw the spider. She ran to grab a dirty cloth and smashed the spider. "That's the only downside about this place, spiders tend to want to live here too."

Oceana smiled at Painter as she smashed the spider. "Bug's are so terrible! I hate waking up with them in my fur. I don't mind pretty bugs like dragonflies and butterflies. It's the creepy bugs that get to me." She started her nervous rambling. "Beetles are the worst! They have this big ugly pincher looking things on their faces. I don't mine praying mantises they are actually really neat to look at. And spiders ugh! I got bit by one once and it really hurt. My poor nose got all swollen and I was so sick."
She blushed at her rambling then started sweeping the walls with her tail once more. It was becoming quite dirty and covered in cobwebs. She surely would need a bath after this. "Sooo um what's your idea?" She asked as she bounced along looking like a complete idiot. "You know if we keep this clean all the time no bugs will come in."

"Beetles are fun to paint, but I wouldn't want them near me either. ESPECIALLY the ones with the pincers. That sounds like a really dangerous spider. And I thought they were just bad about walking through my paint and over my pictures, leaving their tiny painted footsteps..."
Oceana asked her about the idea that had flitted through her head. Somehow, it seemed less funny now and more... embarrassing.... She blushed. "Um, never mind, it's not as funny as I thought it was." Greatful for a subject change, she gladly agreed with cleaning.
"You're right. We'll probably have to get some cleaning stuff from the store, though, so you don't" she paused to giggle "have to clean with your tail."
