Considering that Lee had trouble being wholly coherent at the best of times, it was nothing short of a miracle that she could still form nearly comprehensible sentences when faced with a panicking mate and a hatching kit with missing parents and being out in the middle of nowhere looking for said parents.

Ricky gasped. No, it couldn't die! It couldn't, it couldn't, it couldn't!
"We hafta find them Leefox but where are they how do we get there we can't just leave it like its Mommy and Daddy did and oh my gosh it's a girl!"
Sure enough, the shell of the BCR had broken apart, and a tiny, so tiny, little black kit had flopped out onto the still-slightly damp from dew grass.
Ricky didn't know what she was doing, but she knew enough to go over to the little kit and lay down next to her and wrap herself around her, offering her warmth if she couldn't offer milk (could she?)--Leefox was right, they needed to find Pink Mommy or Blue Mommy or someone.
But Ricky didn't even want to move, not with this little ball of love curled up snuggling against her. Ricky couldn't tell for sure, but she somehow doubted that she'd be able to, anyway: she didn't think the kit even could open its eyes yet, let alone walk all the way back to the Lunarie Tribe.
"Lee?" Ricky whispered up at her mate, reluctantly tearing her eyes away from the kit against her to Leefox's face, "Do you think you could find some food or maybe Pink Mommy or Blue Mommy on your own while I stay here with her? We can't leave her..."
((NOTE: Nena will not be RPed until her kit cert is up, but since she is in the thread, I posted her BCR stage :3))

Lee could only just stare at the kit who had just hatched. She was so tiny! Had Lee and her sisters and brother ever been that small and vulnerable? How had Pink Mommy and Blue Mommy ever managed to take care of something so small and teeny-tiny and just so /helpless/ and and and...!
Lee realized Kikifox had spoken and just nodded. She'd go find her mommies and then they'd know exactly what to do! Leefox didn't want to leave Kikifox, but if she didn't then the little kit would /die/ and...!
Some time later--it had to be hours though--Leefox returned with Pink Mommy in tow.

Thankfully, so thankfully, Ricky managed to keep the little thing alive until Leefox and Pink Mommy came back...it felt like years instead of hours.
"Pink Mommy!" Ricky shout-whispered, not wanting to wake her up from where she'd fallen back asleep against her. "Help us," Ricky begged plaintively, realizing she had too many questions to possibly ask at once.

Sigal looked between the two girls, and then at the kit. Lee had said that they had just found it's BCR, which she supposed was true, although she couldn't believe any parent would actually abandon one of their own BCRs. She drew closer to Lee at the mere thought.
"So what do we need to do? What do we feed her and how do we take care of her and where can we even keep her the forest is so big and isn't a good place for a kit and and and...!"
"Lee, honey, slow down. Now, one question at a time, please."

Ricky felt a little better in spite of herself at Lee's gushing; it kept her from having to gush herself. At Pink Mommy's light admonition, Ricky looked up at her and frowned lightly.
"What should we feed her?"

"Things that are small, and easy to chew--she might be able to handle tougher things, since it varies from kit to kit, but it's best to start with mushier things. Berries are good."
"Okay, so we need to find berries! Lots and lots of berries 'cause she hatched forever ago and she hasn't even eaten yet and OH MY GOODNESS SHE'S GOING TO DIE OF STARVATION IF WE DON'T GET SOME BERRIES RIGHT NOW!"
Sigal just chuckled as she picked a bunch of berries from a nearby bush, and set them in front of the kit. "No, she won't starve. Even a kit can survive a day or so without food. They're tougher than you think."

Ricky watched with bated breath as the little kit sniffed cautiously at the berries, amazed that she could know where to go when it didn't even look like her eyes were open, or at least not open all the way.
"How long should we stay here with her?" Ricky murmured, keeping her eyes fixed on the little body next to her as it plucked off one of the berries and nibbled at it with tiny teeth.

"Give her a few days--hatching is hard work for a kit, so she won't be able to go very far until then." Sigal looked around the spot where the girls had stopped, and realized it wasn't a very good place to live for so long. There were a few berries, but only enough for a kit, not for two adults. Plus, there wasn't any water nearby for drinking, either.
"You can, and should move a little right now though."
"Why?" Leefox asked, confused. Pink Mommy had just said that they shouldn't move the kit, and now she had just changed her mind and said that they should!
"Because you two have to eat too. And there's no water here. But there was that river a little bit back, and there was food there, too. You should let the kit try to walk if she wants to, but if she doesn't want to, or can't keep up, then you can just carry her by the scuff of her neck."
Oh, that was why! Pink Mommy was so smart, thinking of all these things that Leefox and Kikifox completely hadn't noticed!

Ricky nodded; she had been about to ask what they should do for food, since her stomach was rumbling already.
"What should we...yanno, do? We couldn't find its--her--parents and we searched for like ever yesterday..."

"Her parents are probably looking for her...if they can..." Sigal didn't want to admit out-loud, and especially not in front of the kit, that there was a possibility that her parents were severely injured, or possibly even dead. She wanted them to all keep optimistic: "we should leave a trail from where you found her to where we're moving to, so her parents can find her more easily."
"Kay!" Leefox liked that plan, because then maybe the kit's parents could find her and then they could be reunited and then they could all be happy again!
Except then the kit's parents would probably take her away, and then maybe Leefox and Kikifox would never get to see her again and somehow that thought bugged Leefox. The kit wasn't her kit...But she was still attached to it nonetheless.
"Okay, Kikifox and...um...kit." She realized that the kit did need a name, but she and Kikifox weren't her parents, so they couldn't exactly name her, but she didn't like the idea of calling her just 'kit' until they found her parents, either. There had to be something they could do...But Leefox couldn't think of it. So she just continued on: "okay, so we should listen to Pink Mommy and go to the river and then we can make the trail once we've gotten all moved!"

Ricky smiled and nodded, agreeing with the plan. "Okay," then she whispered to the little kit, "Are you going to walk?" When the little kit didn't answer but cuddled closer, Ricky took that as a no.
So, as soon as the little kit was done with her berries, Ricky stood up and said, "Nenanena, time to go," And very carefully lifted her up by the scruff of her neck.
She didn't know where the name had come from initially...but then she remembered. She had said 'neenerneener' so much when she was a kit that Thea had taken her to calling her that, except she hadn't said it right. Wow, blast from the past.

"Nena!" Leefox shouted. "We should call her Nena! I mean, just for now, just until we can find her parents and they can tell us what her real name is..." Leefox trailed off, thinking about how they still hadn't found out what had happened to her parents, and that made Leefox sad.
Sigal lead the way back to the river, with a plan in mind. "Here it is. I'm going to go look at something, I'll be back in a jiffy," she promised the girls, before heading back to where Lee had told her they had found Nena.

Ricky pushed back the panic she felt rising in her stomach when Pink Mommy left, but she made herself nod and wave her tail in a farewell gesture. She'd be right back. Maybe she was going hunting or something!
"Yea!" Ricky agreed through the mouthful of fur, liking the name. Nena. Nena. Yes, she loved it~ Although it did make her wonder what her parents had named her, or if they'd like the name...
Soon, they reached an acceptable spot near the river and Ricky carefully lay back down with the little fox, nuzzling her gently.
"Hi, Nena," Ricky couldn't help but laugh when the kit wriggled seemingly happily and nuzzled her back. She was just so cute!

Leefox was sad to see Pink Mommy go too, but she knew that if Pink Mommy said she'd be right back, then she would because Pink Mommy always kept her promises like that! And they'd be okay without her for a little bit too, because Pink Mommy had told them they were doing a great job of taking care of the kit--of Nena--and that they could relax some.
Leefox laid down next to Kikifox and Nenakit, and nuzzled both of them. She liked having both of them around lots and lots and lots, and didn't want to have to think about what would happen when they found Nena's parents and she had to go back!
