America always does the right thing, just let it try and fail a few times.
I mean, we've had a streak of shitty presidents then we get an Andrew Jackson or a Ronald Regan.
Give Congress a chance, they know what's right..
Eventually.

Cabron the Swan Shiny Gligar Cabron the Swan Shiny Gligar I can't help but think this is to stop illegal activities from happening on the internet. I can expect 4Chan to be blocked. Do you know how much child pornography is posted on that website? I would be surprised if the government hasn't been trying to shut the site down.
But anyways, this is an American problem. Not my business. I don't doubt it will start out mostly trying to stop copyright violations, but eventually they're going to start censoring for "treason" or "terrorism", or worse, on suspicion. And whatever America does, Canada does when America pressures them to. ******** if I'm gonna sit by and let them take that power. This is a petition for a country that voted an idiot for president, twice. They're gonna do whatever they want to do, or whatever will keep them, 'safe from terrorists'. Look at the war. ._. It wasn't exactly the best idea. You can't win against people like that, yet it was tried. I'm not advocating the censorship, but I don't see the point for the petition. Well of course it won't do anything, the governments never have and never will have the best interests of the people in mind. But if it didn't get any signatures at all, that would imply that nobody was interested in the free Internet. If 30 seconds is all it takes to tell a black market developer I want to be a part of an open-source internet, I'm down. We don't even know what they're blocking. I'm guessing they'll be going after US based servers for pirating websites, and websites that distribute illegal material, but I don't know. We don't know what will be blocked, but I highly doubt it will be websites that have an international userbase. Plus, it's not like any of us venture away from websites that would remain unblocked. Just because the internet has everything doesn't mean it's for everyone.

Just because the internet has everything doesn't mean it's for everyone.Legislation is left intentionally vague for a reason, and that reason is always exploitation. There are a great many things that fall under the category of 'illegal' and you've probably unknowingly done more of them than you think. If you wanna trust the government with the power to ban individuals and entire sites from the Internet without even investigating them first, be my guest, but I don't really see how the point you're trying to make would be practically applied, given most of us have already signed..

It wasn't the country who voted Bush into office twice, it was the electoral college. A normal citizen's vote is almost nothing compared to the vote of a member of the electoral college. If it were up to the people, he wouldn't have made it into office that second term... if just barely. Just putting that out there. I don't think half of a country wants to be lumped together with the half that voted for him.

Actually, Bush won by votes the second term (Bush: 62,040,610 - Kerry: 59,028,444), but lost by votes the first term. (Bush: 50,456,002 - Gore: 50,999,897)

Eh. It's unethical, and I don't see anything coming from it. Just a bad idea that looks good.
