punk-electro rurouni_starchild Kawaii-Star Can someone tell me how it works? Have you read the Unauthorized Autobiography? It's in there.... This might help: http://thequietworld.com/facts.php?page=sebaldcode And for fun here's a sebald decoder for all aspiring VFD members! http://enworb.byu.edu/documents/sebald_decoder.html Thanks for the links. anyway, I was skimming wikipedia when something caught my eye: Quote: Heimlich Hospital: V.F.D. members were at the hospital (including Lemony Snicket, Beatrice Baudelaire, Daniel Handler, and the phrase "red herring"). Snicket, I knew he was a volunteer. Beatrice, quite the same, but she was the Baudelaire mom? I was shocked! And Handler is a volunteer? Welcome. For the Hospital list I have my own research on it in the Oddities and Conicidences thread here. As for the Beatrice being the Baudelaire's mom, I don't think that's the case. Plus right there on the list is the words "red herring" so perhaps we shouldn't take all that's there for granted. But one of my biggest qualms with that theory is that when Esme says her name to the kids, there's no reaction AT ALL like "What, our mom?" I will say that there are similarities between the two but are they one and the same? No, I don't think so. As for Handler's involvement, he IS the "official representative" of LS so why wouldn't he be VFD? There's a hint as well in the VFD transcript in TUA.

Will someone please de-confuse me? Is the Sebald code every tenth word with nine words in between, or every eleventh word with ten words in between?

Hmm... that's odd, though... most other things seem to say it's every eleventh.

And also, the code has to have the word ring at the end as well as the start. That tells you when that particular code has finished and makes sure you don't get a bit muddled.

missing nin itachi The code there is very easy to miss. Im glad I re-read that passage and I remembered TUA. As soon as I looked at the coded passage and I saw the word ring, I immediately began uncoding it. I thought that I might be wrong, but I was really relieved when it started to make sense! You just have to keep an eye out... ninja

Animeomega I don't know if anybody noticed, but there is a Sebald Code spoken by who I now assume to be Frank on page 67. Decoded it is: "I can't tell if you are in or enemies please respond" If only the orphans had known the Sebald Code, they would've found Frank! crying I noticed that too! I guess I'm not the only one... I thought it was Dewey who said that, though.

rurouni_starchild What amazes me still is that he managed to SPEAK Sebald. I have a hard enough time writing it! eek Ditto. Then again whoever it is has probably had years of practice.
