"Nice to meet you, Leo!" Noel said brightly, before noticing another fox enter. He didn't know this one, either. Noel realized he didn't know many people of the tribe. He had left the lands for a bit and it seemed missed the arrival of most of the other potential tribemates.

"Hello, I'm Noel," he greeted the red fox, and introduced himself again. He wondered when the foxes he did remember from before would appear. There had been a surprising number of 'Phims before.

((Aaaand here comes a lame nati post of my three 8D I'll post their pictures later. I'm to lazy right now to go look them up. ))

Zen was sitting far out on a branch near Hometree's top, opposite side of the tree than one of her tribe mates, Noel. She always found the air nicer up here at the higher altitude. A nice breeze rolled by her and Zen smiled as she closed her eyes. For a moment she wondered where her mate, Jiriki and the kids where. But after she turned her head towards the base of Hometree, she caught their scents and smiled.

The breeze had gone and Zen opened her eyes as she heard Ecthelion's voice echo through the tree. She padded along the branch back into the hollow of the tree and nudge one of her sleeping sons. "Li, it's time to get up. Ecthelion is calls for a meeting."

-----

Li yawned loudly as his mother gently shook him awake. He had been training with his father to be a scout and it had left him very exhausted. After the third nudge from his mother, Li finally stood and shook the sleep from his fur. "Alright, alright. I'm up." He said as he lazily stumbled after her. "Where's Dad and the others?" It was a pointless question really. If he had stopped to smell the scents in the tree for a moment, he would have found them, or traces of them anyway. Still being to tired to fully care, Li followed his mother down to the meeting spot.

-----

Bai had been fluttering around the outside of Hometree when her Elder-to-be's voice reached her ears. Everyone was to be at the meeting place? That sounded like fun. It had been awhile now since everyone in their tribe had gotten together. Bai flew inside the tree and zig-zaged her way down to the base of it where Ecthelion and a few other foxes sat. Being the first of her family to show up, she took her spot in the circle and saved room for the rest of them.

"Greetings." she said with a nod to those present.

((I'll add my others' pictures in a bit))

"Really Li, you'd think I'd been training you better," Jiriki teased his son as he landed on a branch above Li and his mate. "I took the early morning scouting shift, but I've been in the top branches for an hour or so." He too had heard Ecthelion's voice on the wind. "Come on then Li, wake up. Falling asleep in a meeting would be awfully embarrassing." He offered his son his trademark cheeky grin, nuzzled Zen quickly and then arced down to the gathering below, landing with a muted thump next to Bai.

"Morning," he greeted the others cheerfully, offering his daughter a quick and affectionate n** on the ear.

Yang, like his brother, was no so keen on this morning thing. Grumbling to himself as Ecthelion's voice stirred him out of a pleasant dream, the Phim reluctantly stood and stretched stiff limbs and straightened sleep-mussed feathers. Couldn't they do meetings in the afternoon?

Shrugging off his grumpy thoughts, Yang descended after his father to the base of Hometree and managed not to trip on his own feet. "Hey Noel, Leo, Baki," he greeted the normal foxes. He'd known Noel since he was a kit, and the others...well. He grinned much like his father; he'd just been doin' a job.

Ecthelion chuckled softly at the variety of attitudes from his tribe members. He could tell some of them would rather be asleep right now, but it was Omaticaya's custom to rise with the sun. "Good morning, everyone," he greeted in turn, looking at the assorted foxes in front of him.

"As you can see, our tribe has begun to grow as more of us find Hometree. I am glad Eywa beckons more souls here to her lands. But, with more foxes comes more things to address. First, we must always remember our tribe is our family. This is our home, and we would do well to stay near Hometree. Like nature around us, we should be connected to each other. If someone wishes to leave the boundaries of our territory for more than a few days, I ask that you seek my permission first. It will likely be given, but we should always know where our family is."

"Next, I know we do not all know each other, and that we don't all know the positions we want to take in the tribe. Or rather, perhaps you do know and have not had a chance to tell me. I'd like everyone to go around the circle and give their name and their desire position. After the meeting I will discuss with each of you any questions you might have, and talk to you about the position you indicate. It is okay to not have decided yet, or to be just a member who helps with everything."

Neytiri slunk in to the circle silently with Jake at her side as Ecthelion spoke. When his eyes landed on her, the female shrugged and decided she was meant to go first. "My name is Neytiri. I wish to be a hunter."

((-too lazy to add in Yin and Jake to this post-))

Leo watched as others gathered into the circle. Most of them he recognized by sight, but knew little else about them. He was sure the same could have been applied to him though.

After Neytiri introduced herself he figured he may as well go next. "My name is Leopold, I'd rather you call me Leo. I may not be able to see as much as those with wings," he said, purple eyes flashing to the Phims in the circle, "but I believe I would make a good scout."

Riku watched as the rest of the tribe joined around the circle. He mentally shook his head as Neytiri asked to be a hunter. There was no way he could be that or a scout as Leo asked to be.

He looked at the rest of them and since nobody else seemed to speak up, the brown fox stood up. "I am Riku and I would like to be a gatherer." He blushed a little though, remembering his first time into the area. Thankfully he hadn't ate those berries.

((We'll just pretend the others talked~XD))

Ecthelion nodded and looked around the gathered circle. So, now that we all know everyone, I think it is time to...change things up a little," he said with a small smile.

"As we all know, things have been hectic lately. Many have come, and this has caused us to hunt more, gather more, and overall keep constantly adjusting. But I believe that we have earned the right to our own celebration. Eywa has been good to us thus far; it is high time we have a celebration in her honor."

Ecthelion smiled and looked at each member in turn. "Scouts, go together and cooperate to find us a suitable place to hold the celebration. It would do all of us good to be outside of Hometree for a night. Hunters and gatherers, I leave you to gather the food we'll eat. Cornelia and I will supervise, and the rest can help those who they please, or try to find decorations if they want." Hopefully, getting groups working together would foster more cooperation; the tension Leopold felt with the 'Phim scouts was easily visible.

"Before we break to do this, though, like I do at the close of all these meetings, I leave the floor open for any questions or news anyone may have."

Leo looked down at the ground, his tail flicking behind him. He was nervous to ask his question; he loved his tribe and didn't want them to think he was decieving them. There just hadn't been time to bring this up before.

"I have news that should have been brought up sooner. If I may, Elder, I would like to speak with you about it privately before it is announced." Leo looked up at Ecthelion, purple eyes calm but slightly worried.

User Image Cornelia had woken up early to collect some herbs that were ripest first thing in the morning; as such, she hadn't been at Hometree when Ecthelion called the meeting, but she had felt it all the same, had known it was happening the instant it did.

All the same, despite running as fast as she could with fragile leaves and roots in her mouth, she was still late. So embarrassing.

She got back in time to hear Leo speak, so she cleared her throat quietly as she walked around the circle to join Ecthelion on his right side.

"I'm sure that's alright, Leopold," Neli answered, smiling warmly at him. She could tell he was upset about something (anything with eyes could see that), but she wouldn't push him in front of everyone.

"I have a question, if I may," Neli continued, bowing her head lightly first to her mate, then to the group. "Is anyone interested in learning the art of being a Shaman?" Because being late to every meeting just wouldn't do.

Ecthelion looked down at Leo and nodded. "We will speak of it when the celebration is over, Leo. For now, clear your mind of all worries." He smiled warmly at the green male. "Now is a time for happiness, not stress."

He looked over at Cornelia and gave her cheek a nuzzle. "Yes, we could use more like Cornelia here. We have much to learn about our home."

She heard the voices in the distance, or rather, the voice. It had been amplified by something, but the vixen did not know what that could be. He was not yelling, yet his voice was so deep and loud. Curious, she meandered her way through the dense forest towards the voice, eventually coming across... the most massive tree she ever laid eyes on.

She blinked, tilting her head to the side. What was this? She looked up. The tree was... hell, she couldn't see the top of the tree. She blinked again, pursuing her lips. This was weird. No tree should be as tall as a mountain; no tree should disappear in the clouds. Her curiosity only intensified the more she thought about it.

She lowered her gaze when she was finished admiring the size of the tree, then she examined it, finding the entrance with ease. She padded forward into the tree, to find a group of foxes gathered. "Pardon my intrusion..." she apologized, embarrassed. She was not sure she should be there.

Ecthelion turned to the new voice in surprise and mentally chastized himself; wasn't he always supposed to be alert to their surroundings, to prevent any attacks like the last one? Perhaps this party was distracting him too much...

Well, no matter. The vixen who has just come in looked less malicious and more shocked and awed; the typical response of a true potential member of his tribe. "It's alright," he reassured the black and white female. "We were just ending a meeting."

He nodded to the rest of the group to disperse and get ready for the party, and stepped off the stump he used as his podium. "Welcome to Hometree," he told the stranger. "You're in the lands of the Omaticaya Clan. I am Ecthelion, Elder of this place."

Yami eyed the brown male who spoke, observing him carefully. He didn't look threatening, and his words were kind. She smiled meekly at him, bowing her head to him with respect. "Hello, Ecthelion. I'm Yami... a, uh, traveler," she responded with a sheepish grin. "Nothing quite that impressive," she added with a light chuckle.

She looked around. "And still, as a traveler, I haven't seen anything like this. I believe you mentioned these are tribal lands?"

Leo felt his lips quirk up in a smile, and, despite his nervousness, a bit of amusement crept into his eyes. This vixen had come across the clan in the same way he had, what seemed like almost a lifetime ago. A lot had happened since he found the clan.

Being near the entrance, he tipped his head in a reassuring half-nod to the strange vixen, then glanced around the rest of the circle to see the reaction of the others; newcomers were a rarity among them.
PostPosted: Thu Jan 20, 2011 11:19 am

"Yes, these are tribal lands," Ecthelion told the newcomer. "At least in spirit. We're trying to rebuild our tribe after the original was destroyed a long while ago."

...He really was that old. The brown male shook his head at the thought.

Jiriki took Ecthelion's side conversation with the stranger--Yami, she said her name was--as a sign that the meeting was over. Standing from his place in the circle, Riki stretched and then trotted over to Leo.

"Leo, want to go start looking for a spot to hold this party with me?" The older phim flashed the green male an amiable grin. "Now's not the time for private meetings, we're finally getting to relax." He laughed and shook his hair out of his face, then started to make his way out of Hometree.

Leo snorted and tossed his head. "Relaxing will probably be the last thing I'll be able to manage right now. That's what happens when one sits on a something and allows it to fester into a potentially explosive situation rather than deal with it immediately." For better or worse, Leo could be quite stubborn when it came to his moods.

This time was something for the better though, since he determinetly put his "news" to the back of his mind and rolled his head and legs to loosen some muscles. "Sure, why not. Moving might help, actually." Like his Phim kin, Leo was very much at home in the high trees of the forest. With such broad, long-reaching branches it was as easy for him to walk among the foliage as it was to walk on the ground. Easier, in some ways. Of course getting into the trees was always a little harder.

"You wanna take an outside perimeter and I'll look closer to Hometree, or shall we scout together," he asked, already consulting a mental image of a tree he knew that would be good for boosting him up towards the canopy.
