September 2010 I followed some instructions from a piece of mail I received. To my surprise (and slight dismay) I didn't wind up with treasure or anything of the like. I ended up with a very white little boy with a fish tail. I've named him Auden. I may be four hundred and something but I look twelve... this should go over well...
Auden can turn his fish tail into legs. He wobbles a lot and is really slow.
Auden and I move around a lot. I probably should dip into savings and purchase a house... However, I just cannot. I always feel as if I am being followed. Thankfully, the taverns I have stopped in to work at for pay, food, and a room don't seem to mind Auden all that much. Matter of fact he seems to draw them in a lot more business which means I make more money.
I decided that now that I have Auden I cannot be working all the time. It wouldn't be good for him. He needs to be able to get out and do stuff. I am not exactly sure what stuff as I've never raised a kid before. But, anyways there was a lovely little lake just a mile from the tavern I last worked at. We went there and he swam for HOURS and didn't prune at all.
I've noticed that Auden really likes to collect shells and rocks and odd other little things... especially shiny things. He takes bits of string that he has been given and makes jewelry with what he finds. I never pictured a boy liking that sort of stuff.
I guess this kinda counts as a bonding moment... But he loves for his hair to be played with. He finds it absolutely fascinating that I can braid little braids into his hair. This is also one of those things I didn't expect for a boy to like.

October 2010 A very slow month until the end.
Auden continues to attract all sorts of attention, usually the good kind. Then again where I usually stop to work at there isn't a lot of riffraff. I've gotten plenty of assistance thus far when it comes to Auden. Everyone seems to love him and thinks he is adorable.
We went to a pumpkin patch and got a pumpkin. It was kind of small and funny looking. He picked it out so it is the one we bought. He loves it. He didn't want to carve it, actually have me carve it (he is too young). Instead he wanted to drape jewelry and stuff on it. He even took yarn and made a wig for it. Certainly not the scariest pumpkin. But, he had fun and that is what counts.
Auden has a strong dislike for sweets, especially chocolate. However give him a sugar cube though and it is gone in a heartbeat. I made a note of that and use it as a special treat. His favorite food at the moment is apples.
Auden has strange taste when it comes to clothes. At least I found a way to use the outfit.
Auden hating candy made getting him to go trick or treating hard. Once I bribed him with the option of trading candy for apples and beads and things he was more than willing to go.
We went to the lab and did a bit of trick or treating. The experience was less than positive. He didn't like getting spooked or gypped. And, after a lengthy speech about candy and teeth he got an apple. He was extremely happy with that only to have it taken. He got something else later. But he would have much rather had the apple. The handful of candy he did get I did as promised and traded with him. He had enough to make a necklace. I gave him an apple because it made it him happy and it is healthy. I gave the candy to the kids at the tavern we were currently at.

The Missing Months: November 2010, December 2010, January 2011, February 2011, March 2011, April 2011, May 2011 It is rather odd but these pages have been torn out of the journal. No doubt, that our Artist Auden decided to use them as coloring pages before feeding them to one of the goats at one of the many taverns we visited during our travels. My deepest apologies.

June 2011 He doesn't like the heat of the day. It is drastically affecting when we go outside. I wouldn't be so concerned if this wasn't conflicting to my schedule. I don't handle myself well at night and I'm a little scared I may go off the handle and scare him. I guess we're going to have to try dawn, early morning, late after noon, and dusk. And, fit work in around his time. Also a couple of naps.
He knows and can write his alphabet, and a few names. He can almost stay within the lines when coloring and count to 20. What's 'scary' is he is having my upbringing. I mean to say the fact that tavern wenches and the like are giving him an education. I really don't see a problem with it because I turned out 'okay'. I am going to go and buy him some proper educational books for his age when we get to the next town.
We passed an apple orchard a few days back and he insisted we stop to pick apples. It was interesting with him on my shoulders, and us wobbling around trying to pick apples. Luckily, a nice man helped us out before we got hurt. I of course pretended that I was 12 and his sister so that it would not raise suspicion. I worry like that. Auden has gotten use to it, he actually pretty much picks up when and when not to call me 'mom'. Still getting use to the word 'mom'.
We are making our way back to the lab. It has been a while and a think a visit would be good for him. I just hope that certain person doesn't go trying to steal his apple again.

July 2011 Auden and Alison have adjusted well to one another. Auden is super protective of his sister.
Auden doesn't talk much about his visit to the lab. I am sure that it did him some good.
I'm not sure what sparked it but Auden is acting more mature.

August 2011 I want to settle down but I cannot bring myself to do it. It does not seem to both the kids at all so I am not going to fret over it. I actually think they like moving around from place to place. I do make sure that they have time to make friends, and I make a way for them to keep in touch with those friends.
Auden is almost a year old. It really seems like just yesterday. I want to plan something special for him but I am not sure how to go about it or what to do. Perhaps I will take him to pick apples one last time before we cannot for a long time.
