Entry 7: Gloves I'm kind of interested in getting a gloveset (LED lights and gloves), but I'm going to be honest with you guys: I have no idea what the hell I'm getting into. Some things I'd like to know before I commit to getting a gloveset: ~ PRICES - where and how to get good deals, and any discount codes that may apply within the next few weeks. ~ What works, what doesn't work, how things work, and how to keep them working ~ Differences between kinds of lights ~ Where to buy from - or perhaps where NOT to buy from ~ White gloves vs black gloves - does it make a difference? ~ BATTERIES: Where to get them, how to change them, what different types mean/are/look like. ~ Your recommendations, experiences with different products and/or companies, tips, etc. Reply to this post or drop something in my PM inbox or my ask box on tumblr if you have any input. Thanks very much to anyone who decides to help out!

Entry 8: Starscape 2012 Outfit Planning Attempted look: Steam/cyber.Top: Tie-dye a gray tank top with blue, black, and purple. Airbrush "Technologic" over that in neon pink and orange on the front, and "Starscape 2012" in neon green and blue on the back. Possible rhinestones, possible spray-painted clockwork? Tradeable kandi: Unique but matching singles. Each will have a color pattern and matching polymer clay beads, and each will have a line from the song "Technologic" by Daft Punk. Bottom: Black bustle-style lolita-esque skirt (pinned up in back to reveal underskirt). Blue/brown/black fluffies. Backpack: Something small. Makeup: Blue/purple/pink/silver eyeshadow with "motherboard"-looking lines and dots; dark lip gloss. Maybe temporary tattoos of a vaguely steampunk-ish nature. Accessories: Leather bicep cuff on left arm with lace underneath and a "control panel" with knobs, dials, and buttons. Wire that leads from control panel up my arm, across the back of my shoulder, up my neck, and attaches at my hairline (taped to my skin). Vertical striped stockings with blue fishnets over. Some kind of hair falls. I'm open to suggestions if anyone has any. mrgreen

I gave you a PM about the glovesets and hopefully it helps you out alot. About your steam/cyber look yeah sorry I'm no help there.
PRICES - where and how to get good deals, and any discount codes that may apply within the next few weeks.
Glovesets are all prices, but they normally go from anywhere $10 to over $200 for a complete set.
~ What works, what doesn't work, how things work, and how to keep them working
Well it's all about personal style and what you might like, but normally dropz and microlights are the best I have found because they are smaller than the inova and you can turn them on and off a little quicker. Basically the lights are just photons, so what they will do is you can either find some that you press once and it stays on or those with multiple modes or even some that have an on and off stay switch. Keeping them working is mainly just keep it maintained. Don't drop the lights. Be careful about the sensors. If you get clear dropz or inova's you can check out the pics online on the websites and you'll see there is a circuit board. Mainly under normal use you won't have to worry about the lights going bad on you. You could try just led lights in the tips of the fingers which might be your more cheaper option.
~ Differences between kinds of lights You have all kinds of lights, but the main ones are Photons, Bits, Inova's and Dropz. Everything else is pretty much a knock off or a different version of those basic bases.
~ Where to buy from - or perhaps where NOT to buy from I personally have never had any problems with any of the companies unlike others have, but I mainly go with LiquidEmotions and Lightzombies both have been pretty speedy for me.
~ White gloves vs black gloves - does it make a difference? It does make a difference. The white gloves you can see the lights through the glove, but the black ones add that sense of flair that you rarely see, so you would be different, but it would take really bright lights to see through the black fabric. Still though since they are black you might be able to do more freak out moments since they can't see your hands and only the lights unlike with the white gloves you can see the lights and the hand.
~ BATTERIES: Where to get them, how to change them, what different types mean/are/look like. Pretty much all those websites I PM'ed you about they all have batteries you can buy for the lights, but mainly they use a CR-22 for most of the lights and you can buy them anywhere that sells batteries. Like Walmart, Target, K-Mart, anywhere you can find batteries.
~ Your recommendations, experiences with different products and/or companies, tips, etc. I really only have a few tips. Practice, practice, practice. Make sure to learn a few of the basics like a figure 8 and a butterfly and then watch some videos, befriend some people who do lightshows and make it your own. When I first started I would learn from my friends and even meet up some ravers at raves that will teach you. There is no such thing as a right or wrong way to do a lightshow. It's all about what you want to bring to the table and how you wanna express yourself. Oh and work on the arms. Doing a 2min lightshow isn't tiring, but try doing 2 min lightshows for the entire 8hrs of the rave. Yeah that can be a workout in it's own.

Entry 9: 20th Birthday Swag Today is my birthday! Frick yeah, huzzah! I received a spool of string, a bag of dice beads, a bag of flat square letter beads, and this gloveset from raveready.com. I requested it because of the fact that they are black gloves with white fingertips. White gloves would probably clash really badly with some of my planned outfits, so I thought these would be a better option. I'm gonna be spending the next week practicing with them, because Friday night is N-Code and I want to be able to make people happy with my gloves. <3

Entry 10: NCODE June 2011, Part 1: Preparation Step One: Convince boyfriend to go with you because he has a car and hasn’t been to Orpheus in a while. Gas money and paying for him to get in sealed the deal. Step Two: Shake in your shoes for two days while getting up the guts to ask your mother to let you go. Step Three: Ask mother if you can go. Expect a s**t-storm, receive a “Yeah, sure. You’re old enough to go out.” Praise higher powers that you didn’t have to sell your soul to her for the weekend in order to be allowed to go. Step Four: Obtain makeup, other facial accessories, and sugary snacks for extra energy. Plot how to pretty up your face by watching makeup tutorials on Youtube. Also plan outfit and gather a preliminary tradeable kandi pile. Step Five: Figure out that the strap of your duct tape coffin backpack was held in the jump ring by a ladder-style loop of string. Wrestle with cotton twine for fifteen minutes; finally stick the string through a plastic needle, thread through the beads at the bottom of the strap, and secure to jump ring and small fabric strip with about seven knots. Step Six: Clean the bottoms of the shoes you’ll wear to the party. They’re your only good sneakers at the moment, and they walked through God-only-knows-what in France. Also replace the boring black laces with adorable laces that have hearts and music notes and say “I Heart Music.” Step Seven: Observe that “We’re celebrating pride this month!” Evaluate choice of kandi, then decide you need more rainbows. Commence creation of rainbow-tastic kandi. Step Eight: Pack glowsticks, Blood Energy Potion, Starburst, Gummi Worms, and light gloves into backpack. Consider that you should really practice a little with those gloves before you attempt to give anyone a lightshow; decide to do that tomorrow.

@ Ashy sounds like a fun gameplan, but umm what is with step 2 though? Shake your shoes? Don't you mean break them in or am I completely missing something here?

"Shaking in your shoes" means that you're terrified.

OH fear of asking the parental unit. Gotcha now. Yeah it's just when I first glanced it over and even after I read the whole thing twice I was like what?? Ha ha. Now it makes sense.
