As soon as she saw the pack mule, Zerra's fierceness softened. She couldn't let any defenceless creature get hurt, even while traveling. "Ah. We will lessen our pace for him. Besides, if the underworld's leader if searching for me. They'll expect me to be at the border of the desert by now. It'll throw them off."

Commander Julius Root marched through the woods whistling to himself and whatever animals in the forest that were listening. He marched until he heard someone say 'underworld leader' and 'edge of the desert by now.' Immediately the thought clicked. FELLOW FUGITIVES!!!! Julius marched toward the voice in his same rhythmical stride and song with military precision, after all he was still in service. Julius approached a small campfire with two people a mule and a panther. Odd sight enough but at least there's fire and heat. As he closed in on the campfire he noticed the two were girls and that one was elven and the other human. "Well if he expects you to be in the desert but his minions intercepted you here then he must know that you're here and not WAAAAAAAAAAY over THERE!" Julius said pointing towards the desert. "Sorry if I startled you m'names commander Julius Root of the LEPrecon."

Zerra's hand instantly flew to her dirks sheathed at her hips. Her eyes narrowed as the Commander approached them. The elfmaiden stood.
"You have no idea of what speeds Zelraa and I are capable of. He expects me to already be on the move, like I have been for years now, Commander." Zelraa stayed on her stommach, knowing that Julius wasn't a threat. Zerranda frowned. "LEPrecon? Good for you, Commander." She turned back to her fire, poking at it with a nearby stick.

((Sorry guys, I've been busy with college))
Nohari stared at the commander, staying fairly quiet. Another elf. Since he seemed focused on Zelraa, she decided to quietly chant a short incantation to discern his nature. It seemed he was not any danger to them.
When Zelraa turned back to the fire, she decided to speak.
"Well then, um...hello sir. Julius Root, you say? I'm Nohari."
She paused.
"And--you're a commander? Where are your troops?"

"My troops?" Root questioned. "Oh dear no I have no troops. I am part of the Armed forces but I am not military. The LEP is an acronym for Lower Element Police us having our headquarters underground. I am part of the LEPrecon or Reconnaissance. We specialize in finding lost soldiers or items that need to be found. It is also what is called a Special Weapons and Tactics team also known as SWAT for short. We specialize in the rediculous and the obsurd. We have weapons that you have never seen or heard of before. Such as the Ninjitsu powder bow," Root said as he drew an odd looking metal bow from behind his back. "Scientists and chemists from the far East have made many advancements in the study of explosives. This is a simple bow yet you may notice it has no string. You simply grab this handle and pull it back. That puts tension on a coiled spring with a metal rod at one end. This rod is the exact diameter of a sparker at the end of a capsule that sits in this barrel in the bow." Root pointed at a small hole in the bow. "This capsule contains explosive powder and a lead ball at the outward facing end. When you let go of the handle the spring compresses itself forcing the rod into the sparker at the end of the capsule which ignites the powder. The resulting explosion shoots the ball at incredible speeds and has amazing accuracy." Root sat down on the ground and continues do fiddle with the apparatus. "So hopefully that answers your question. If you were hoping for a horrible tragic story of how I lost all of my troops in combat, then I'm sorry you won't get such a story from me." {[(This is a design that I came up with so don't get mad at me for it having flaws)]} {[(I take it you haven't read the Artemis Fowl series have you, Scarlet)]}

((My dear Ryrtram, this is a fantasy world--the Chinese and Japanese don't exist, those are countries of Earth. Change it to "from the East" or something like that. ^_^))
((And no, I haven't read the Artemis Fowl series. If it's fantasy, you should know that I do not read too much fantasy these days. I don't like how a lot of people write fantasy. neutral ))
Nohari listened as the man talked about the Lower Element Police and the weapons. It seemed, from how he went on and on about it, that he really was quite proud of LEPrecon, and to be a part of LEPrecon. At least, that's the impression she got. Perhaps she was wrong.
As he continued to prattle, she smiled. While she wasn't nearly as interested as some might be, she respected him enough to listen to what he had to say. Obviously he knew what he was talking about. If somebody actually knew what they were talking about, Nohari felt that they had earned the right to be listened to. Plus, she enjoyed listening to people.
When he was finished, Root sat down.
"Oh. Well, no, actually, I wasn't expecting a tragic story. Rather, I thought it was a bit silly, calling yourself a commander when you aren't leading any troops. But then, you've explained yourself now."
She smiled again. "I would be interested in seeing how this bow works."
Nohari did have a genuine interest in seeing how the weapon worked, even if she didn't care as much for the details.
