I still prefer EIs... especially if the effect is only temporary.

It doesn't make sense to me. EIs were giant cash magnets for the shop... to exchange those items with something much more simple... meh. I'm guessing we'll see the animated items for a little bit, and have EIs come back if they don't sell as well.
Anyway. I'm a little irked at the fact that they're selling a Halo. But not irked enough to do anything about it.

I've heard nothing about these things outright replacing EI's. Mintaka and Whoseywhatsis even recommend trying EIs in their shopkeeper dialogues. Are you sure this replacement thing isn't just a rumor?

Oh, lord, I'm sure you guys have read between the lines already, but they're going to make it so you have to keep paying to stay animated.
I don't care, though. I haven't changed my avatar since last winter or something.
And I haven't bought anything with gold since last year.
This s**t just doesn't compute.

This is a fairly big misstep. Gaia Online's gonna lose money on this one.

bullshit. everybody's going to be like "omg, I hate it so much get rid of ittt" but there will still be people buying and paying, etc. Saying stuff like, "if you don't want it, don't buy it," etc. gaia's going to make money on this one.

Ehhh, damn it. I hate the idea of paying to keep items animated, but there's still a part of me that's telling me to buy them and pay the extra cash, just because it's something that's of limited availability. I imagine that most other Gaians are feeling this, too. confused

...I'll be your sky. Y'know, you're probably right. It really doesn't matter that much to me, because in my opinion most of the animated items look better static. But we don't like them, so we aren't buying 'em. And some people will like them, and buy them. But what would you rather? That they'd be modified to have multiple static poses after the alloted time? That Gaia stop selling them, and concentrate more on donation items, EIs and CIs? It's really not an option that they'd be free, since alot of money goes into paying the artists, programmers, and animators, and they have to make enough money to both recoup that cost and profit enough to both sustain their business and continue providing services to us.

They're not losing money at all... but I can guarantee this fad will fizzle out before EI's do in the end. MCs are still around, but Active Items bombed. This one is going to go the way of Actives....

My input seems to pretty much go along with what everyone else things: The temporary idea is retarded and a total ripoff, though to be honest I wouldn't be surprised if it is just a test. They're probably trying to see how effective it will be, and make a decision on whether they are going to reanimate them or make more based on how well they sell as well as how well they work. If they don't stay animated, though, there had better be neat poses. I didn't even buy one, but I'd be pretty irked if they didn't do something with them.
Also, while they are kinda nifty, I still think that they items are pretty lame. I hope that, if they do come out with more, there's something more interesting. The ones they have right now are kinda meh, but then again that's how the EI's started out too. They were cool, but nothing too exciting.
I still prefer EI's over everything, but really, you can't beat 20+poses just by making something move.

{{♥ ♠ ♦ ♣}} There has been only one active item so far. I don't think it's wise to assume that one item will determine every path for the future items.
However, from a logical standpoint, all active items will depete in value over time. The amount of items it pops out can really only increase and there's no limit to that number [unlike how there is a finite number of say dark halos floating around].
The animated items will lose it's sizzle as soon as it stops being animated. However, I do forsee Gaia releasing a "Animated potion' of some sort which will make your item animated for X number of days.
To change the topic a little, how do you feel about the rEIs? [Rapid Evolving Items; such as the mana seed and the pora ice] Obviously, they aren't made for hoarding, but do you feel that it could be a good alternative to an EI?
