"Rules are a binding contract, often, with no loopholes. If you choose to follow them, welcome their restrictions with open arms...

Zenko's expression switched to immediate concern the moment Sai went through an episode of pain. However, he seemed to just brush it aside before she could act, getting up and leaving her in the kitchen with a few words. She would be a happier woman if he had at least allowed her to attempt to comfort him, but he was stubborn and had cased his emotion in stainless steel. Even though she had remained vigilant in trying to gain his open affection, every time that he denied her a moment to help him through their shared pain, he avoided it, almost like the plague. She was a stubborn woman, but even she had her limits, and sometimes she even wondered if Sai would ever acknowledge her beyond being of the same lineage, and goal. In due time, she decided. It would still take many years for her to even take a peak inside of his casing, but she would persevere and keep trying. In the mean time, the kunoichi needed to clean up the small mess that had been left at the table for her.

Dutifully, both as a wife and as a member under his leadership, she began to clean up with a faint smile gracing her expression, which was worried moments before. She picked up all of the dishes and placed them within the sink, tapping one of the handles on the faucet. Not long after she was humming to herself, washing away whatever was left of the food from the bowl, and the plate that Sai had used. It didn't take long since neither were very fancy, providing an easy surface to scrub with minimal effort. Just after she had started, she was done, her thoughts returning to her mind after being dispelled by such a small task. Cleaning was therapeutic for her, calming, almost to the same effect as meditation was, but not quite. Nothing she had found in life could compare to it, besides the first time that she had run into the man who seemed to ignore her affections.

A slender finger brushed a long strand of purple hair behind one of her ears, her attention turned towards her room, and the last words Sai had said to her before leaving for what she assumed was the training room, where Atsureki often stayed. From what Zenko could tell, the boy was awfully frustrated as of late, most likely from the lack of action, as was the nature of those his age, she mused. However, it wasn't his fault, he had done nothing but train for the time they spent in solitude in the base, since it seemed that he had no other hobby to keep himself preoccupied like she did. "Ah, that reminds me." She said, walking out of the kitchen with a casual stride and toward her room. Upon entering the familiar aroma of smoke filled her nostrils, somewhat widening the smile present. Closing the door behind her she approached a large rectangular figure upon her dresser, unlatching what appeared to be a lid and opening it.

Seemingly hovering over the supports which held it in place, the amethyst spear seemed to shine to her. Holding back a cascade of emotion which would have brought her to tears, she wrapped her hands around its shaft and pulled it into an embrace, moving over to her bed and sitting on it with the spear in her arms like a child. The weapon was the only thing that remained which connected her to her father, the only thing left behind that he had forged. It was hers, naturally, a present that he had given to her for her birthday. Zenko lightly shook her head, dismissing the depressing thought as it was many years ago. After gazing upon the brilliant weapon she set it back within its stand, this time keeping the lid open and moving back to her bed. With little else to do other than to meditate until the time to leave was upon them, she did just that, sliding into a comfortable position, closing her eyes, and focusing on nothing.

... I'll just sit over there, and revel in my complete freedom."

"The world has forgotten the evil of the Bijuu...

Walking down the dimly lit corridors, still stepping lightly with his cramped leg, Atsureki made his way towards his private chambers. With a small frown Atsureki noted that Zenko had already retired to her own room, no doubt readying herself for tomorrows journey. Of course he's taking her, she was probably the first to hear about it, Atsureki thought to himself as he stopped in front of his door, lifting his right hand so that his ring faced the matching symbol on the door. She has ever been his favorite, but we'll see how well she performs out in the real world..., In truth, Atsureki had no idea what the woman was capable of, he had never seen her train, much less fight. At the same time, he knew that she shared the same raging chakra as Sai, which meant that she could bring that same raw power to bear in battle. But how well honed were her skills, that was the real question.

Stripping out of his clothes, the young Hyuuga walked towards the small stream at the back of his room, turning a knob to heat the water from below. Sitting by the stream, Atsureki continued to massage at his leg while he waited for the water to steam. Once the water reached the proper temperature, Atsureki turned off the heat and stepped into the warm water, letting the heat soak into his weary muscles as he closed his eyes to relax. After a few minutes spent soaking up the bath's warmth, Atsureki stood up and grabbed a towel to dry himself off before pulling on a pair of boxers to sleep in. Warm and relaxed, Atsureki slipped under the blankets of his bed before closing his eyes to let sleep take him.

Walking quietly through the hallways once again, Sai arrived in his room without any interruption, placing his ring in front of the scanner as the stone door slowly slid open, only to abruptly close behind him after he entered. All that was needed now was to rest and prepare for the journey the next day. this time however, he would have two students with him. it would be a good test of jsut how ready they were to take on the duties of an Akatsuki. Sai would have to make note of specific ways in which they could be tested. For now however, his mind and body would have to be quieted so he could rest and be refreshed... not an easy thing for a Konaga. Sai both loved and despised his meditation periods as it forced him to be mindful of and face his pain, but also gave him a temporary release from it, where he could only hope that he might dream of life without pain.

Taking a seat on the mattress on the cot in the spartan room, Sai sat down, criss-crossing his legs before placing his hands in a single seal. It would be a journey of meditation for the next two hours, but once it was attained, the remainder of his rest would pass with frigthening speed, giving him what would only seem like minutes before his eyes were opened wide once again as the pain and agony of his reality flooded back into his body, forcing Sai to wince in pain, closing his eyes as he held his head and clutched his hands tightly as his muscles spasmed and his skin crawled with a burning pain. Once it had finally passed, Sai opened his eyes again looking at the walls of the room through temporarily hazy eyes before moving to the side of his bed, hanging his head and looking at the ground as he planned the day and prepared himself for what needed to be done.

After bathing and changing his clothes to a clean version of what he had worn the day before, Sai opened his door to move into the kitchen. It was still early, but it was typical for Sai to wake up before others. Grabbing large amounts of instant breakfast food, Sai ate it all without a single word, his mind engaged on the mission at hand as he waited for Atsureki and Zenko to wake up and join him before they left.

"The world has forgotten the evil of the Bijuu...

Looking the great beast in the eye, Atsureki wore a stoic expression as the shadow shrouded creature stalked ever closer. Suddenly, and viciously, the creature launched itself forward, one razor sharp claw poised to sink into the soft flesh of Atsureki's throat. But rather than being stricken down as the creature hoped and expected, Atsureki moved with a predatory grace of his own as he nimbly dodged to the side at the last instant, narrowly avoiding the blow. As the claw sailed past, Atsureki lashed out with his right hand to catch the creatures arm at the wrist, and suddenly it was no longer the monster he had been facing, but Haseo as Atsureki remembered him, still a child forced to bear the burden of housing a Demon. Smiling at his friend, Atsureki said with a gentle smile, "I am here to release you from your suffering, just as I swore I would." As the young Haseo looked up into Atsureki's pale eyes however, he gaze was not that of an innocent child, but two glowing red orbs, carrying all the hate and malice of the demon within. With a guttural roar, Haseo lunged for Atsureki's neck, his teeth suddenly sharpening into fangs and---

Awakening to a scream, it took Atsureki a moment to realize that it had been his own. With a cold sweat dripping down the side of his face, Atsureki lifted a hand to his throat as he looked about the room, trying to remember where he was. As his pale gaze fell over the familiar scroll case and table, he let out a small sigh,
just a dream. Throwing his blanket off of him, Atsureki set his feet on the floor before burying his face in his hands, closing his eyes as he let his senses expand, searching for the familiar chakra signatures of Sai and Zenko. As usual it did not take long for Atsureki to feel the menacing presence of the Konagas' unique chakra, it would be a hard thing not to feel it.

Bringing his hands up to run through his hair, Atsureki let out another sigh as he opened his eyes and turned his gaze towards the door, or more specifically towards the kitchen where he could already feel Sai bustling about. And suddenly he remembered the journey that Sai had spoken of yesterday! Jumping to his feet, Atsureki began to rush about the room, splashing some water on his face to clean off of some of the sweat before throwing open his wardrobe to pull out the gear he would need. After strapping on his weapons holsters, Atsureki pulled out a messenger bag and walked over to the scroll case and grabbed a few pens, ink, and paper. He would be damned if they happened upon a jinchuuriki and they failed to record any information on it.

With his supplies in tow, Atsureki walked out of the room and towards the kitchen, stopping to bow as Sai sat eating the monstrous amount of food he called a meal, and mumbling a salutation. Setting his bag on the back of a chair, Atsureki walked over to the fridge and looked around for something to eat. Grabbing four eggs, cranberry juice and milk, Atsureki grabbed a frying pan and began frying up his eggs while he grabbed some bread to toast and bowl for some cereal. Once his breakfast was prepared, Atsureki sat at the table across from Sai and began shoveling his food into his mouth. In between bites, Atsureki glanced up at Sai before looking back down at his eggs and said simply,
"So when do we leave, Sensei?"

... I intend to help them remember."

"Rules are a binding contract, often, with no loopholes. If you choose to follow them, welcome their restrictions with open arms...

Zenko's eyelids slowly opened as she returned to the waking world, the aura of her aggressive chakra slowly receding into her body as she was once more able to defend herself. She groaned, running her fingers through her hair. She always hated 'waking up' from meditation, it was the only time where she couldn't feel her pain. That didn't matter anymore, at least not for today because she was awake and needed to move again. Today was the day that she and the two others within Sai's organization would be going out to do some scouting on the villages and their status. It had been some time since both she and Atsureki had left, and now they were finally getting the chance to explore. The only danger she could think of was a bingo book, but she wasn't sure that she would be in one since her village had been destroyed recently, taking with it the need for her to be caught and turned in, and the pay for turning her in. However, she wasn't sure about the boy, she didn't know where he was from.

The kunoichi shook her head as she moved from her bed and washed up, replacing her 'dirty' clothes from the day before with a new, fresh pair. Afterward she retrieved the spear from its stand, and walked out of her room towards the kitchen where the others would no doubt be gathering. Zenko nodded to Atsureki and Sai, smiling at the latter before moving to quickly assemble a 'small' breakfast, most likely large by the standards of a normal person. She sat down next to Sai and silently ate her food.

... I'll just sit over there, and revel in my complete freedom."

(Missed Roll)

Caught in his thoughts, Sai made no response to Atsureki's initial greetings, but noticed immediately when he entered the room, though he paid the boy no attention in his formalities. Obviously, Sai was not the nurturing type in any sense of the word, but it was a simple fact that he was this way even to those close to him, if he could call anyone 'close'. Sai simply saw others as they were, individuals he could not truly trust due to the corruption of human nature at a base level. It just so happened to be that those of the Akatsuki had similar goals to his and it benefited them all to work together. Zenko of course was the exception to this rule, but that was more or less how Sai lived his life... he cooperated with others only as far as it served him.

By the time Atsureki had sat down to eat his meal however, Sai had already formulated all of his thoughts regarding scouting the villages. If necessary, he would use his summons to gain access to the villages. the actual details could be decided once they arrived, but for now, they would travel ina group of three as Sai wouldn't put either of the other two on their own, and he certainly wouldn't put them both on a team as it would separate he and Zenko... and create a team of two more inexperienced members. Had he their fourth member with them, he would certainly help, but the man lived life his own way now, and would only respond to a necessary call, and this was not the time for it.

As Atsureki asked his question, Sai was about to respond when Zenko joined them, her presence and arrival catching his attention as he turned to meet her arrival and lingered on it much longer then he did Atsureki's. As she sat next to him to eat, Sai then answered his question... "We will leave immediately after you have both finished your meal. We will make our way to Konoha first and assess the situation when we get there. Atsureki, we will use your eyes to guide us and you will lead the team to each location while Zenko and I remain behind you. Rest assured, I will be quick enough to respond and catch up to you in response to any sudden situation if the need arises. If you spot something, simply stop and Zenko and I will catch up to you quickly.

"This will be a scout mission only, we are not to engage a village's forces unless forced to do so. Our goals is to ascertain the location of the Jinchuuriki if possible through observation. Atsureki, I trust you still have the blank scroll you've been holding for months... it can be your job to update the information and file a report to me. Normal attire will be fine for now, and Henge should be good enough to gain us admission through the village gates if necessary. Once we have scouted each village, we can return here to plan further."
Sai stopped for a few brief moments to allow the plan to sink in and figured there would be no debate. of course if they wished to say something they could, be he doubted they would.

"If there are no questions... we can leave immediately."

"The world has forgotten the evil of the Bijuu...

The fact that Sai barely even noted his presence was of little consequence to Atsureki, in truth he had long since grown used to the Konaga's apparent lack of interest in those around him. But when Zenko walked in, Atsureki couldn't help but feel a small sense of jealousy over the way Sai followed her with his eyes, as if captivated by her very presence. Glancing towards Zenko as she prepared her own meal, it was easy to see how one could be distracted by the curve of the girl's hips, but it was not a look of lust in Sai's eyes. He watched her as if she were the only other person in the world, as if he had never seen another living being. It was infuriating.

As Sai laid out his plan, Atsureki listened in silence, his pale eyes fixed upon the last remnants of eggs as he pushed them about his plate with his fork. He had never been to the land of fire, thanks in part to Sai finding him. When he had left the Village Hidden in the Sand, it was in Konoha that he had thought to find refuge, amongst the members of his clan. It would be interesting to visit the Hyuuga compound while they were there, to test his skills against another of his lineage. The thought brought a smile to Atsureki's face, but a quick glance towards Sai and the grin disappeared to be replaced once more by a mask of stoicism. He doubted that his master would let him visit his distant relatives, and now did not seem like the opportune moment to ask.

When it was clear that Sai was finished speaking, Atsureki rose from his seat and collected his dishes to toss into the sink. Turning towards the hallway, Atsureki grabbed his bag and slung it over his shoulder as he said with a glance behind him,
"I'll be waiting at the gate."

... I intend to help them remember."

With no replies from the other two, it would seem that there were no arguments as to his plan, and with Atsureki's announcement that he would be at the gates, it left Sai and Zenko alone together. Sai's brain suddenly stirred within just that short period, his mind reformulating and checking the plan even as he had just laid it out. With Zenko being in the only one in the room however, he allowed his musings to vocalize rather then keeping silent as he would otherwise. "Now that I think of it, the Henge technique might not even be needed. Atsureki was still young when he left the Sunagakure and his interactions there were minimal from what he has told me. I would doubt that he would be listed in any Bingo book, except for maybe Suna's, and certainly very few people would be able to identify him after all this time. Most would assume that as a Hyuuga, he belongs in Konoha."

Sai's words flowed as a stream of consciousness, but it was still well thought out and formulated as he continued on, speaking to Zenko without actually looking at her, envisioning the interactions at the gates if they were open to travelers as he spoke... "And since the Otogakure was destroyed, I doubt any records survived or left witnesses of your presence, so you should pass as fairly unknown. I would suppose that only I would run the risk of being recognized, but I doubt even that would be accurate. Perhaps a few cosmetic changes here and there would suffice to allow me to pass as average. Considering our shared heritage, we should be able to pass off our massive chakras as a shared bloodline as I have passed it off in the past... but it may still be tricky. I will be depending on your skills of 'persuasion' and your lovely figure to get us past the guards and through the gates. I have faith in your ability to weave a passable lie to gain us access to the village as travelers."

With those final words Sai got up from his chair and cleared his plates, haphazardly putting them in the sink to soak in their absence. He then walked past Zenko on his way to the entrance to get the mission underway. "We shall await you at the entrance My Dear."

Jouji lay on his bed, a near dead cigarette hanging from his mouth, the ashen length bending precariously; it would crumble under the slightest touch. He had heard Sai call for him a while back, no face-to-face discussion or actual command beyond 'Meet me at the entrance' communicated through the flashing holograph projected by his ring. He flicked off the ash from his cigarette and stubbed what was left in a nearby tray, heavily laden with the cancerous sticks.

Swinging his legs off the bed he came to his feet and stretched, the leather of his pants groaning noisily, reminding him to check his fly and adjust himself through the tight confines of his apparel. He fumbled around his desk looking for his holster, finding only empty and half-full bottles of alcohol and packs of cigarettes at first, but memory kicked in and he reached for a drawer and between the lubricant, condoms and other unmentionables were his holsters, still full stocked. He clipped them on at the appropriate places and after checking once more that he had not forgotten anything and fixing his hair in the mirror he moved to exit the room.

As the door slid open a great gust of smelly smoke erupted from the confines of the room and into the hallway, as he began to move he heard a slight crunch from his pocket and reaching in he found a biscuit of sorts. Nibbling on it he found it was utterly stale and threw it away into the recesses of the base's dark corridor. He sighed for no reason other than to make a human sound and liven up the dreary place..

"Rules are a binding contract, often, with no loopholes. If you choose to follow them, welcome their restrictions with open arms...

All Zenko did was idly nod her head as Sai continued to speak, munching on her food as she prepared herself both physically and mentally for their big day today. It would be her and Atsureki's first mission, as well as the first time either of them were to see the outside world since joining the Akatsuki so long ago. If anyone cared to observe her attitude they would know that she didn't particularly care for the goals of the group, or what it stood for, only that they were what Sai was striving for. And, that being so, she followed along and obeyed orders like a loyal servant, a sexy one. She lightly chuckled to herself, lost in her own thoughts even though Sai had been indirectly speaking to her.

Each and every word had been registered to her, but the last ones were clear in her mind as her thoughts returned to her. "My dear." The girl whispered to herself before giggling slightly. It had been one of the only, if not the first time that he had used a term of endearment when referring to her. Such a thing this early in the morning boosted her mood, and with that, came back most of what he had said to her before fresh in her mind. 'Lovely figure' was also said, although she had missed it, and thinking about it produced an equally girly response as before. It was a good thing the man himself wasn't here, since he would probably reprimand her for becoming distracted by her personal feelings instead of thinking about the task at hand.

Satisfied with what she had eaten, however little she believed it to be, Zenko picked up and scrubbed her dishes lightly, setting them in the sink more carefully than Sai had before leaving the kitchen. Her shoes struck the floor of the base and produced a rhythm as she hummed to herself, lightly skipping down the hallway of the base towards the entrance to catch up with her companion, and her lover.

... I'll just sit over there, and revel in my complete freedom."

Slightly hungry and not wanting to travel on a completely empty stomach, Jouji sauntered into the kitchen, finding it, like the dorms empty of all life save himself; everyone must have already left. He scratched his a** through his tight leather pants as he tried to recall what exactly there was to eat that was both quick to cook or heat and easy to access and in unison with the itch on his butt being satiated by all his rubbing he recalled he had some left-over food from earlier sitting in the fridge.

Going to the fridge he went to eat a bowl of left-over beef and black bean sauce he had cooked only to find it gone, the food anyway, the bowl had been returned to the fridge still spattered with sauce. Frowning. he swore pain on the perpetrator. The distaste of the event leaving him no longer interested in eating.

With that he made a slow, and deliberately so, journey towards the entrance of the Akatsuki base, supposing that he should try and catch up with the others at some point; it was a mission after all.
