When Life Gives You Lemons.
Bug was minding her own business eating a half finished hotdog from the trash when something that was wet attached it's self to her back.
Bug swallowed her meal and puffed her wings out. After whatever it was that latched onto her let go she swung round to give it a what for and some more.
But when she saw the small teary-eyed boy with his finger up his nose hiccuping, Bug could only let out a heavy sigh. She looked this way and that, but there was no sign of a parent,
maybe he's like me and doesn't have any, she thought.
The boy grabbed on to the front of her shirt sniffling and started to speak through her hiccups.
"I - hiccup - wah - hiccup - aunt - hiccup - my - hiccup - mom -hiccup - E." Bug rolled her eyes, patted his head and tried, and eventually gave up, to wriggle her shirt out of his hand.
Okay, fine, so he does have a parent, damn. It wasn't that Bug wanted this kid to not have a family, she just thought for a moment he could be hers, well maybe not for just a moment, but still no harsh intent.
The patting didn't calm the boy down any, which got on her nerves a bit, so it was time for him to go. Bug pushed the boy forward easing him out of the alleyway. His crying was very persistent, how anyone could have missed place him was beyond her. He was noisy and.... wet.
After a time of walking and not spotting anyone looking for him Bug grew tired of the gamed. With her mood changing she grappled the small boy and lifted him over her shoulder. This change took the boy on by surprised but have his shock he giggled through his tears and wiggled slyly. Bug laughed too and jolted to the park that was near by. If he could forget his mommy than maybe we wouldn't be such a crybaby and she could keep him.
her loving plan was set, and Bug plunked the boy down in the sand box. The boy beamed, giggled and dug in the sand. It didn't take the two long to create a crater. The boy tugged on her shirt sleeve with a smile and pointed to the swings.
"Oh, you want to go on the swings?" she asked and the boy simply nodded his reply. Bug stood up, dusted herslef off and picked the boy up.
"Hmm, those ones over there are bigger people swings." The Boy wiggled, whined and thumped his fists on Bug's chest.
"Ow! That's not nice, there's some swings over there that you can play on and I'll push you, but no more hitting me." The boy averted his gaze and stopped wiggling after hearing her demands.
Huh, this was new. SHE was the boss and it made Bug smiled, it was a nice feeling she didn't realized she liked.
Bug slid the boy into the baby swing and when he was all settled in he bounced and Bug pushed. She pushed slow at the start, then faster she even did a couple of under doggies for him. Bug was having a lot of fun, and would have liked this to go on for a long time, fate, however had other things in mind.
"SO THIS IS WHERE YOU'VE BEEN?! I'VE BEEN SO WORRIED!" and lady yelled from behind causing Bug to stop in motion. The lady pushed Bug aside and lifted the tiny boy out of his seat. Once again he started to cry and this time clung to the lady
"MAMA!"
"I know sweetie, mama's missed you too."
When the two moved away from Bug, she was tempted to grab hold of the lady's back side the same way the boy had grabbed hers. Before she could muster the nerve they were already too far away. Standing there, somehow with less than before the start of the day, tears began to trickle down her face. Her mouth quivered and Bug broke down crying, alone, and unable to move, it'd be along time before anyone would come looking for her.
